• How to set a default value with Html.TextBoxFor?

  Simple question, if you use the Html Helper from ASP.NET MVC Framework 1 it is easy to set a default value on a textbox because there is an overload Html.TextBox(string name, object value). When I tried using the Html.TextBoxFor method, my first guess was to try the following which did not work: <%: Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Age, new { value = "0"}) %> Should I just stick with Html.TextBox(string, object) for now?

• jQueryUI autocomplete - when no results are returned

  I'm wondering how one can catch and add a custom handler when empty results are returned from the server when using jQueryUI autocomplete. There seem to be a few questions on this point related to the various jQuery plugins (e.g. jQuery autocomplete display “No data” error message when results empty), but I am wondering if there's a better/simpler way to achieve the same with the jQueryUI autocomplete. It seems to me this is a common use case, and I thought perhaps that jQueryUI had improved on the jQuery autocomplete by adding the ability to cleanly handle this situation. However I've not been able to find documentation of such functionality, and before I hack away at it I'd like to throw out some feelers in case others have seen this before. While probably not particularly influential, I can have the server return anything - e.g. HTTP 204: No Content to a 200/JSON empty list - whatever makes it easiest to catch the result in jQueryUI's autocomplete. My first thought is to pass a callback with two arguments, namely a request object and a response callback to handle the code, per the documentation: The third variation, the callback, provides the most flexibility, and can be used to connect any data source to Autocomplete. The callback gets two arguments: A request object, with a single property called "term", which refers to the value currently in the text input. For example, when the user entered "new yo" in a city field, the Autocomplete term will equal "new yo". A response callback, which expects a single argument to contain the data to suggest to the user. This data should be filtered based on the provided term, and can be in any of the formats described above for simple local data (String-Array or Object-Array with label/value/both properties). When the response callback receives no data, it inserts returns a special one-line object-array that has a label and an indicator that there's no data (so the select/focus recognize it as the indicator that no-data was returned). This seems overcomplicated. I'd prefer to be able to use a source: "http://...", and just have a callback somewhere indicating that no data was returned. Thank you for reading. Brian

Oh :) Before someone suggests I create those two folders and even stick a random file in those folders .. and have some random text in those random files .. i've done that and it doesn't seem to work, still :( Please Help !

• C# 4: Real-World Example of Dynamic Types

  I think I have my brain halfway wrapped around the Dynamic Types concept in C# 4, but can't for the life of me figure out a scenario where I'd actually want to use it. I'm sure there are many, but I'm just having trouble making the connection as to how I could engineer a solution that is better solved with dynamics as opposed to interfaces, dependency injection, etc. So, what's a real-world application scenario where dynamic type usage is appropriate?

UPDATE: I've spent the last few hours banging my head against this, and although I'm not really any closer to getting it right I think at least I can be a little more specific about the problem. I've got my IRespository<T> working ok: <typeAlias alias="IRepository" type="MyAssembly.IRepository`1, MyAssembly" /> <typeAlias alias="Repository" type="MyAssembly.Repository`1, MyAssembly" /> <typeAlias alias="OrdersDataContext" type="MyAssembly.OrdersDataContext, MyAssembly" /> <types> <type type="OrdersDataContext"> <typeConfig> <constructor /> <!-- ensures paramaterless constructor used --> </typeConfig> </type> <type type="IRepository" mapTo="Repository"> <typeConfig> <constructor> <param name="dataContext" parameterType="OrdersDataContext"> <dependency /> </param> </constructor> </typeConfig> </type> </types> So now I can get an IRepository like so: IRepository rep = _container.Resolve(); and that all works fine. The problem now is when trying to add the configuration for IOrderStore <type type="IOrderStore" mapTo="OrderStore"> <typeConfig> <constructor> <param name="ordersRepository" parameterType="IRepository"> <dependency /> </param> </constructor> </typeConfig> </type> When I add this, Unity blows up when trying to load the config file. The error message is OrderStore does not have a constructor that takes the parameters (IRepository`1). What I think this is complaining about is because the OrderStore constructor takes a closed IRepository generic type, ie OrderStore(IRepository<Order>) and not OrderStore(IRepository<T>) I don't have any idea how to resolve this.

• Java OutOfMemory error in filter

  I get a java.lang.outOfMemoryError exception, while writing a big file to the servletOutputStream. Every response is by default wrapped using a ehcache.constructs.web.filter Object for GZIP compression. And as per the logs, the exception is thrown in the Filter object. Is there a way to increase the available memory so, that the outOfMemoryError Exception does not occur ?

• Nhibernate: Don't fetch when accessing a child objects primary key

  Hi, Is there a way in NHibernate to get the foreign key of a child object, without fetching the child object? EG. I have User and UserRole. Can I access User.UserRole.UserRoleId without causing another hit on the database to retrieve UserRole? I realize I can set fetch mode to eager and this will stop it from hitting the database again, but theoretically this shouldn't be needed, as the User table has UserRoldId in it. Thanks in advance.

• Moving items from one tableView to another tableView with extra's

  Let's say I have 2 UITableViews next to eachother on an ipad in landscape-mode. Now I want to move multiple items from one tableView to the other. They are allowed to be inserted on the bottom of the other tableView. Both have multiSelection activated. Now the movement itself is no problem with normal cells. But in my program each cell has an object which contains the consolidationState of the cell. There are 4 states a cell can have: Basic, Holding, Parent, Child. Basic = an ordinary cell. Holding = a cell which contains multiple childs but which wont be shown in this state. Parent = a cell which contains multiple childs and are shown directly below this cell. Child = a cell created by the Parent cell. The object in each cell also has some array which contains its children. The object also holds a quantityValue, which is displayed on the cell itself. Now the movement gets tricky. Holding and Parent cells can't move at all. Basic cells can move freely. Child cells can move freely but based on how many Child cells are left in the Parent. The parent will change or be deleted all together. If a Parent cell has more then 1 Child cell left it will stay a Parent cell. Else the Parent has no or 1 Child cell left and is useless. It will then be deleted. The items that are moved will always be of the same state. They will all be Basic cells. This is how I programmed the movement: *First I determine which of the tableViews is the sender and which is the receiver. *Second I ask all indexPathsForSelectedRows and sort them from highest row to lowest. *Then I build the data to be transferred. This I do by looping through the selectedRows and ask their object from the sender's listOfItems. *When I saved all the data I need I delete all the items from the sender TableView. This is why I sorted the selectedRows so I can start at the highest indexPath.row and delete without screwing up the other indexPaths. *When I loop through the selectedRows I check whether I found a cell with state Basic or Child. *If its a Basic cell I do nothing and just delete the cell. (this works fine with all Basic Cells) *If its a Child cell I go and check it's Parent cell immidiately. Since all Child cells are directly below the Parent cell and no other the the Parent's Childs are below that Parent I can safely get the path of the selected Childcell and move upwards and find it's Parent cell. When this Parent cell is found (this will always happen, no exceptions) it has to change accordingly. *The Parent cell will either be deleted or the object inside will have its quantity and children reduced. *After the Parent cell has changed accordingly the Child cell is deleted similarly like the Basic cells *After the deletion of the cells the receiver tableView will build new indexPaths so the movedObjects will have a place to go. *I then insert the objects into the listOfItems of the receiver TableView. The code works in the following ways: Only Basic cells are moved. Basic cells and just 1 child for each parent is moved. A single Basic/Child cell is moved. The code doesn't work when: I select more then 1 or all childs of some parent cell. The problem happens somewhere into updating the parent cells. I'm staring blindly at the code now so maybe a fresh look will help fix things. Any help will be appreciated. When the user selects a color the following code is fired: private void cboFontColour_SelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { Color colour = (Color)(cboFontColour.SelectedItem); } This throws a Casting Exception with the following message: "Specified cast is not valid." When I hover over cboFontColour.SelectedItem in the debugger, it is always a Color object. I do not understand why the system seemingly cannot cast from Color to Color, any help would be much obliged.

I want to extend it so that a similar Outbound Message is also sent when the objects are deleted. According to this discussion, Workflow Rules cannot be made to fire based on object deletions, so I have to write an Apex Trigger instead.   Hey, I've a TimeZoneInfo object and from this one I want to create a TIME_ZONE_INFO struct. Bias, StandardDate and Daylightdate are pretty easy to obtain. However, I'm having problems getting standardbias and daylightbias. So the question is, How can I get the standardbias from a TimeZOneInfo object and how can I get the same thing for daylightbias (there is a AdjustmentRule.DaylightDelta, but as you can see I need the offset not the delta).
