Support for Windows 2000 Professional and Server to be dropped

Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000 Server are approaching 10 years since their launch and both products will go out of support on July 13, 2010. Windows XP was launched back in 2001. While support for the product will continue, Service Pack 2 will go out of support on July 13, 2010. From that date onwards, Microsoft will no longer support or provide free security updates for Windows XP SP2. Please install the free Service Pack 3 for Windows XP to have the most secure and supported Windows XP platform.Finally, Windows Vista with no Service Packs installed will end support on April 13 2010. Please install the free Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista to have the most secure and supported Windows Vista platform. SQL Server Data Tools–BI for Visual Studio 2013 Re-released

Customers used to complain that the tooling for creating BI projects (Analysis Services MD and Tabular, Reporting Services, and Integration services) has been based on earlier versions of Visual Studio than the ones they were using for their other work in Visual Studio (such as C#, VB, and ASP.NET projects). To alleviate that problem, the shipment of those tools has been decoupled from the shipment of the SQL Server product. In SQL Server 2014, the BI tooling isn’t even included in the released version of SQL Server. This allows the team to keep up-to-date with the releases of Visual Studio. A little while back, I was really pleased to see that the Visual Studio 2013 update for SSDT-BI (SQL Server Data Tools for Business Intelligence) had been released. Orlando .NET Code Camp 2012 - total success..

Their site is www.orlandocodecamp.comThis year's camp was held at Seminole State College.It was well worth it.. Took a chance at going.. by getting up at 5am and driving from Jax to Sanford for 2+hr..Run into some old friends and bunch of new ones. Coders are not really good at networking.. but they sure did show up.. attendance was solid 500+ geeks and some sessions were standing room only. MVP John Papa had the room packed out on his every session. Really enjoyed great and inspiring WP7 presentations by MVP Atley Hunter from Canada.. And of course the MVP legend Joe Healy was everywhere encouraging and promoting cool stuff, hopefully we'll get him back to present at JaxDUG and/or bring back Microsoft workshops to Jax area.

12.04 - Connecting Acer X203H monitor to new Dell XPS 15z laptop

I have installed the latest version of Ubuntu (12.04) on my boyfriend's new Dell XPS 15z laptop. He uses a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, and an Acer X203H monitor with his set-up. No problems with the keyboard or mouse, or with connecting the HP printer, but we just can't get the laptop to talk to the Acer monitor. With his old setup he used a VGA cable to connect machine & monitor. New laptop has no VGA port, but we've bought a VGA to HDMI adaptor to connect to the laptop. Have tried using Fn F2 to change the display from laptop to monitor, but it doesn't see the monitor at all. HELP! Is there a driver I can install from somewhere? Or how can I tell Ubuntu to look for the monitor on another port? Completely in the dark, and about to get in trouble!! Thanks

Desktop Apps in the Windows 8 Store?!?! That’s Impossible!!!

Or is it? Since Microsoft announced the Windows Store, the official word has been that desktop apps could not be distributed in the store. But this morning I noticed this: That’s odd, but after clicking on one of these, I see that all it does is link to the website where you download Visual Studio So really, it’s not a desktop app in the store. It’s more of an ad for a desktop app. Interestingly enough, despite the menu being ALL CAPS, Visual Studio 2012 is getting a nearly solid 5/5 stars.

I saw an MSDN Forum post today, so I looked for a ListInstance Hidden property in SharePoint 2007 features. There is none, but interestingly enough there is one in 2010. SQL Azure maximum database size rises from 10GB to 50GB in June

This man has such a incredible background and he is so inspiring. You could really tell that he is a researcher because as he was talking about something, you could see him thinking about something else and trying at the same time to cross reference that. URL Routing in ASP.NET 4.0

In the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, Microsoft introduced ASP.NET Routing, which decouples the URL of a resource from the physical file on the web server. With ASP.NET Routing you, the developer, define routing rules map route patterns to a class that generates the content.
