  I have downloaded MySQL ODBC Connector 5.1. Now am trying to setup the DSN. But am getting the error: Connection Failed : [HY000] [MySQL] [ODBC 5.1 Driver]Host '117.x.x.x' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server My server url is server.myweb.com - this name am entering in the TCP/IP Server and Port =3306. I have also entered the userid and password , which is the one which i enter when i open www.myweb.com/cpanel Is this a version problem? Should the version of MySQL on my server also be 5.1, i.e. the one of the ODBC? Please help.

  What is the best way to deal with accessing/modifying tables in a database? I have read about the Data Access Object approach, but none of the resources I have found so far indicate a clear implementation of it. So assume you have a database with a table called accounts that has columns id, name, password and email. How would you properly access it within Java? • creating multiple users for a c#.net winform application using sql server express

  i have a single sql database in sql server express. i have a login MAINLOGIN, for this database. i want insertion of data in this database through multiple users, U1,U2,U3, each having different userids & passwords. These users would be created by MAINLOGIN , manually or via the winform application. So while creating MAINLOGIN , i would give him permission to further create logins. For this what should i do? i cannot create MULTIPLE users, because for one database, only one user can be created under one login. so should i create multiple logins, L1,L2,L3, then map, U1, U2, U3 to them. Or, is there a better way to do this? like application roles etc. i dont want to use windows authentication. because if i know the system password, then i could simply connect sql via the application and insert wrong data.

  This question title may be slightly incorrect but I could not find a better one (yet). I'm trying to integrate Mozilla Persona (browserid) into a Pyramid application. The login process is: user can login on any page by clicking on the login button a popup then shows a login form when the users enters correct login/password, an ajax call is made by the popup to a pyramid view that checks users credentials, and calls pyramid remember function if the check succeeded the browserid javascript code then reloads the current page Now I want to handle the case of a new user subscribing to the web app and present a new view asking for a few more details (desired username, etc) Since the "remember" function is called by an ajax call from the popup, I cannot redirect the user the the "/newuser" page. So every view needs to redirect new users to the "/newuser" url whenever the remembered browserid has no corresponding user in the database. Is there a way to intercept user requests before calling a view to call the "new_user" view instead ? Or maybe my authentication approach is fundamentally incorrect and I should rely on another approach ?

• What is wrong with my Basic Authentication in FireFox?

  Hi folks, i'm trying to goto the following url :- http://user1:pass1@localhost:1234/api/users?format=xml nothing to complex. Notice how i've got the username/password in the url? this, i believe, is for basic authentication. When i do that, the Request Headers are MISSING the 'Authorize' header. Er... that's not right :( I have anonymous authentication only setup on the site. I don't want to have anon off and basic turned on .. because not all of the site requires basic.. only a few action methods. So .. why is this not working? Is this something to do with the fact my code is not sending a 401 challenge or some crap? For What It's Worth, my site is ASP.NET MVC1 running on IIS7 (and the same thing happens when i run it on cassini).

For this I read that I have to modify the web.config from Central Administration and web.config from my site with the membership and roleManager tags configured properly.   Hi! I am using mysql as db for my asp.net application. Here are the facts: I am using connection string from web.config which has both username and password. I can do SELECT with tableadapter. When I am trying to do INSERT with tableadapter, I am getting "mysqlexception insert command denied for user" error When I try to do INSERT programatically, i.e. using connection, command object, etc. everything is fine. In this case, I'm reading connection string from web.config, too. This can be only applied to GoDaddy hosting, but on local machine I don't have this kind of problems.   I have 2 tables - one storing user information (id, username, password) and the second one storing information about events (id, name, description, date, username(represents the user who created the event)). I would like to implement 'favourite events' functionality. This would allow the user to store his favourite events and later display them in a list. I am not sure how to implement this in terms of design. I need a simple solution. Something like storing the IDs of favourite events in a field in the user table. I am using mysql and php. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

  I have a local Active Directory server and a external web server where my intranet is located. $ad = ldap_connect("ldap://ip-address") or die("Couldn't connect to AD!"); ldap_set_option($ad, LDAP_OPT_PROTOCOL_VERSION, 3); $bd = ldap_bind( $ad, "user@domain", "password") or die("Can't bind to server."); When I run this on a local web server it succesfully binds the connection. If I run the same code on the external server its unable to bind the ldap connection. Both port 389 and 636 is open on the AD server. I've tried google for an answer, but all the tutorials is for Active Directory and webserver on the same server. Is this even possible?

• Subversion: who am I logged in as?

  I am working on a collaborative project, and I would like to know who I am logged in as. Am I logged in as myself or someone else? If I check in my work, what username will be associated with the commit? I am never prompted for a username or password. When I commit changes, they just get committed under someone else's name. I would like them to be committed under my name. I tried the "--username" option as described on this page, but it didn't seem to work. I did a commit and it was done under the other user's name. I would like some way of knowing for sure that my changes will be committed under my name before I do the commit.

• Missing on-screen keyboard for Flash/Flex web application on Android?

  I have an enterprise Flex web application, served up over https, that runs fine on Flash player 10.0 and beyond from a desktop computer/browser. However, when I run it from my HTC Incredible with Android 2.2 the app loads fine, but there is no on-screen keyboard and so I cannot log in. I can see the blinking cursor inside the username and password text fields. I can switch between them. I can even hit the login button and see an authentication error! According to Adobe this should Just Work. Any ideas? I wanna show off our spanking new app to strangers at the bus stop!

  We publish server-side application to our customer workstation and customer's security guys are concerned about configuration connection strings safety. Connection strings are stored as plain text right now, but as configuration file is not in the public/shared folder we supposed that workstation security itself is enough. What are the ways to improve connection strings security further? It is a big step forward to encrypt password and keep a decryption key on the same workstation?
