• Parameterizing a SQL IN clause?

  How do I parameterize a query containing an IN clause with a variable number of arguments, like this one? select * from Tags where Name in ('ruby','rails','scruffy','rubyonrails') order by Count desc In this query, the number of arguments could be anywhere from 1 to 5. I would prefer not to use a dedicated stored procedure for this (or XML), but if there is some fancy SQL Server 2008 specific way of doing it elegantly, I am open to that.

I want to use Expression Encoder 3 to generate thumbnail image for video (wmv format) every 30 seconds -- e.g. for a 5 minutes video, there will be 10 thumbnails which reflects video at the time of 0 second, 30 second, 1 minute, 1 minute and 30 seconds, etc. Any reference code? thanks in advance, George

  I know I can pass a function pointer as a template parameter and get a call to it inlined but I wondered if any compilers these days can inline an 'obvious' inline-able function like: inline static void Print() { std::cout << "Hello\n"; } .... void (*func)() = Print; func(); Under Visual Studio 2008 its clever enough to get it down to a direct call instruction so it seems a shame it can't take it a step further?

The release option doesn't work as the application does not function correctly when build in release (not sure why).   I maintain a product that is installed at multiple locations which as been haphazardly upgraded. Unique constraints were added to a number of tables, but I have no idea what the names are at any particular instance. What I do know is the table/columnname pair that has the unique constraints and I would like to write a script to delete any unique constraint on these column/table combinations. This is MSSQL 2000 and later. Something that works on 2000/2005/2008 would be best!

When I start the application and run the process, the data is being loaded into database for few hours worth of few tens of megabytes. However, when I quite debugging, change something in code (not in DB structure), run the project again, the database is erased. Does anyone know how to prevent this behavior? I need the data to stay in DB to test on it.
