  Have you observed an ORA-0600 or ORA-07445 reported in your alert log? The ORA-600 error is the generic internal error number for Oracle program exceptions. It indicates that a process has encountered a low-level, unexpected condition. The ORA-600 error statement includes a list of arguments in square brackets: ORA 600 "internal error code, arguments: [%s], [%s],[%s], [%s], [%s]" The first argument is the internal message number or character string. This argument and the database version number are critical in identifying the root cause and the potential impact to your system.  The remaining arguments in the ORA-600 error text are used to supply further information (e.g. values of internal variables etc).   Looking for the best way to diagnose? There is an ORA-600 Troubleshooter Tool available in My Oracle Support.  This tool will lead you to applicable content in My Oracle Support on the problem and can be used to investigate the problem with argument data from the error message or you can pull out the first 10 or 15 stack pointers from the associated trace file to match up against known bugs. • How to get local ActiveMQ broker to "mirror" a queue on a remote ActiveMQ broker?

  I have a local ActiveMQ broker which is on an unreliable internet connection, and also a remote ActiveMQ broker in a reliable datacenter. I have already sorted out a "store and forward" setup so that outgoing messages are sent to the remote broker when the Internet connection is available. That alone works great, but when messages are outbound. However, now I have to do the reverse. Here is the scenario: A new message appears in the remote ActiveMQ broker. The message is put into a specific queue. In a few minutes, the Internet connection becomes available to the local ActiveMQ broker. The local broker should then be able to pull the message from the remote broker, and place it in its own local queue. Local consumers will then be able to see the message. So in essence, I need the local broker to become a subscribed consumer to the remote queue. I have looked through the ActiveMQ documentations but I can't find anything yet about how to do this in the .xml configuration file. Is this what I should be looking for? • How (and if) to write a single-consumer queue using the task parallel library?

  I've heard a bunch of podcasts recently about the TPL in .NET 4.0. Most of them describe background activities like downloading images or doing a computation, using tasks so that the work doesn't interfere with a GUI thread. Most of the code I work on has more of a multiple-producer / single-consumer flavor, where work items from multiple sources must be queued and then processed in order. One example would be logging, where log lines from multiple threads are sequentialized into a single queue for eventual writing to a file or database. All the records from any single source must remain in order, and records from the same moment in time should be "close" to each other in the eventual output. So multiple threads or tasks or whatever are all invoking a queuer: lock( _queue ) // or use a lock-free queue! { _queue.enqueue( some_work ); _queueSemaphore.Release(); } And a dedicated worker thread processes the queue: while( _queueSemaphore.WaitOne() ) { lock( _queue ) { some_work = _queue.dequeue(); } deal_with( some_work ); } It's always seemed reasonable to dedicate a worker thread for the consumer side of these tasks. Should I write future programs using some construct from the TPL instead? Which one? Why?

  Are reluctant passengers slowing down your SOA train? Based on my conversations with various experts in service-oriented architecture (SOA), the consensus is that SOA tools and technology have achieved a high level of maturity. Some even use the term industrialization to describe the current state of SOA. Given that scenario, one might assume that SOA has been wildly successful for every organization that has adopted its principles. Obviously SOA could not have achieved its current level of maturity and industrialization without having reached a tipping point in the volume of success stories to drive continued adoption. But some organizations continue to struggle with SOA. The problem, according to some experts, has little to do with tools or technologies. “One of the greatest challenges to implementing SOA has nothing to do with the intrinsic complexity behind a SOA technology platform,” says Oracle ACE Luis Augusto Weir, senior Oracle solution director at HCL AXON. “The real difficulty lies in dealing with people and processes from different parts of the business and aligning them to deliver enterprisewide solutions.” What can an organization do to meet that challenge? “Staff the right people,” says Weir. “For example, the role of a SOA architect should be as much about integrating people as it is about integrating systems. Dealing with people from different departments, backgrounds, and agendas is a huge challenge. The SOA architect role requires someone that not only has a sound architectural and technological background but also has charisma and human skills, and can communicate equally well to the business and technical teams.” The SOA architect’s communication skills are instrumental in establishing service orientation as the guiding principle across the organization. “A consistent architecture comprising both business services and IT services can comprehensively redefine the role of IT at the process level,” says Danilo Schmiedel, solution architect at Opitz Consulting. That helps to shift the focus from siloes to services and get SOA on track. To that end, Oracle ACE Director Lonneke Dikmans, a managing partner at Vennster, stresses the importance of replacing individual, uncoordinated projects with a focused program that promotes communication, cooperation, and service reuse. “Having support among lead developers and architects helps, as does having sponsors that see the business case and understand the strategic value,” she says. So, how can Google (or any other java implementation for that matter) claims that Dalvik is a Java virtual machine?

  I've never really understood the custom of stuffing a summary of one's family's activities for the year in a Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa card.  It seems a little self-congratulatory and impersonal.  I'd rather my friends kept authentically in touch throughout the year, but perhaps that's just me.Nonetheless, I see the value of a year-end summary in the IT industry.  I spend a lot of time helping our customers understand the latest new developments... and straightening out confusion over changes to the old and familiar.  It can be hard to keep up with the latest news in this space.Here are the eight most-important news items for 2010, with suggested actions for Apps DBAs:Premier Support for EBS 11.5.10 ended on November 30, 2010You need to be on a minimum baseline of 11.5.10 patches to be eligible for Extended Support.  New patches for EBS 11i released during the Extended Support period will be produced only for the minimum baseline configuration.Action: Ensure that your EBS 11i environments meet the minimum baseline requirements. Minimum Baselines are Emerging for EBS 12.0 Extended SupportExtended Support for EBS 12.0 begins on February 1, 2012.  That's only 13 months away.  Minimum baselines haven't been finalized yet, but the 12.0.6 Release Update Pack and the Financials CPC July 2009 are currently slated.  Action: Ensure that your EBS 12.0 environments meet the currently-specified baseline requirements. Sun, Windows, and Linux users should have upgraded to JDK 6 by nowJDK 5's End of Service Life was October 30, 2009 for those three platforms.  If you're running the E-Business Suite on Sun, Windows, or Linux, you should upgrade your EBS servers to JDK 6.  Alternatively, you can purchase Java for Business support (the equivalent of Extended Support for Java). Action: Upgrade your Sun, Windows, or Linux EBS servers to JDK 6. Premier Support for Database 10gR2 ended on July 31, 2010The 10gR2 Database is now in Extended Support.  If you're still on 10gR2, you should start planning your upgrade to a higher certified database version such as 11gR2 11.2.0.2.Action: Upgrade to 10gR2 databases to 11gR2 11.2.0.2.

  In this post , i show how you can benefit from  sequential mocking feature[In JustMock] for setting up expectations with successive calls of same type.  To start let’s first consider the following dummy database and entity class. public class Person {     public virtual string Name { get; set; }     public virtual int Age { get; set; } }   public interface IDataBase {     T Get<T>(); } Now, our test goal is to return different entity for successive calls on IDataBase.Get<T>(). By default, the behavior in JustMock is override , which is similar to other popular mocking tools. By override it means that the tool will consider always the latest user setup. Like: Person person1 = new Person { Age = 30, Name = "Kosev" }; Person person2 = new Person { Age = 80, Name = "Mihail" };   var database = Mock.Create<IDataBase>();   Mock.Arrange(() => database.Get<Person>()).Returns(person1).InSequence(); Mock.Arrange(() => database.Get<Person>()).Returns(person2).InSequence();   Assert.Equal(person1.GetHashCode(), database.Get<Person>().GetHashCode()); Assert.Equal(person2.GetHashCode(), database.Get<Person>().GetHashCode()); The  “InSequence” modifier will tell the mocking tool to return the expected result as in the order it is specified by user. The solution though pretty simple and but neat(to me) and way too simpler than using a collection to solve this type of cases. Hope that helps P.S. The example shown in my blog is using interface don’t require a profiler  and you can even use a notepad and build it referencing Telerik.JustMock.dll, run it with GUI tools and it will work. But this feature also applies to concrete methods that includes JM profiler and can be implemented for more complex scenarios.
