  • EC2 instance suddenly refusing SSH connections and won't respond to ping

    My instance was running fine and this morning I was able to access a Ruby on Rails app hosted on it. An hour later I suddenly wasn't able to access my site, my SSH connection attempts were refused and the server wasn't even responding to ping. I didn't change anything on my system during that hour and reboots aren't fixing it. I've never had any problems connecting or pinging the system before. Can someone please help? This is on my production system!   • Gacutil.exe successfully adds assembly, but assembly not viewable in explorer. Why?

    I'm running GacUtil.exe from within Visual Studio Command Prompt 2010 to register a dll (CatalogPromotion.dll) to the GAC. After running the utility, it says Assembly Successfully added to the cache, and running gacutil /l CatalogPromotionDll shows that the GAC contains the assembly, but I can't see the assembly when I navigate to C:\WINDOWS\assembly from Windows Explorer. Why can't I see the assembly in WINDOWS\assembly from Windows Explorer but I can see it using gacutil.exe?     I am able to successfully put a link in the pdf with a friendly name: Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; doc.Add(anchor); However, I cannot get get the anchor to work within a PdfPCell. Here is what I have tried so far: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Anchor(anchor)); That displays the exception: System.ArgumentException: Element not allowed. I also tried: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Phrase(anchor)); This does not throw an exception but it isn't a link it is just the word "Google". I am using the newest version of iTextSharp at this time v.(5.4.4.0) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    I am using eclipselink JPA with a database which is also being updated externally to my application. For that reason there are tables I want to query every few seconds. I can't get this to work even when I try to disable the cache and query cache. For example: EntityManagerFactory entityManagerFactory = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("default"); EntityManager em = entityManagerFactory.createEntityManager(); MyLocation one = em.createNamedQuery("MyLocation.findMyLoc").getResultList().get(0); Thread.sleep(10000); MyLocation two = em.createNamedQuery("MyLocation.findMyLoc").getResultList().get(0); System.out.println(one.getCapacity() + " - " + two.getCapacity()); Even though the capacity changes while my application is sleeping the println always prints the same value for one and two. I have added the following to the persistence.xml <property name="eclipselink.cache.shared.default" value="false"/> <property name="eclipselink.query-results-cache" value="false"/> I must be missing something but am running out of ideas.     I'm working on a project that uses RXTX and protobuf to communicate with an application on a development board and I've been running into issues which implies that I'm likely doing things the wrong way. Here's what I currently have for writing the request to the board (the read code is similar): public void write(CableCommandRequest request, OutputStream out) { CodedOutputStream outStream = CodedOutputStream.newInstance(out); request.writeTo(outStreatm); outStream.flush(); } The OutputStream that is used is prepared by RXTX and the development board seems to indicate that data is being received, but it is getting garbled or is otherwise not being understood. There seems to be little documentation on using protobuf over a serial connection so I'm assuming that passing the OutputStream should be sufficient. Is this in fact correct, or is this the wrong way of sending the response over the serial connection?

    I recently decided to switch from Eclipse to Android Studio. I imported a project I was working on and am now getting this error when I try to run the project.     Hi, I am working on a cache replication solution between nodes Node A - master node = Hibernate + Database + Ehcache as secondary cache Node B - regional node= Ehcache as prmiary cache. no Hibernate Node B is used only as near-by cache for query. Now I am updating data (Say SudentInfo) in Node A, it gets persisted and cached correctly. On replication side (I am using JMS) it sends a message to Node B. But the problem is, the message it sends is of instance CacheEntry(deep Inside Element), there is no way to resurrect the original object (StudentInfo). What I got in node B is CacheEntry with some attributes of Students but not actually an Student Object. Please note that I don't need Hibernate session/persistence in Node B, node B is only for fast query, persistence is done through Node A. So has anybody tried any solution like this? Is there any way to convert CacheEntry to actual object? or Tell ehcache to replicate original object rather than CacheEntry. Thanks for the help

Problem Concurrent 3rd party clients might be requesting for this list. I have a requirement to be as current as possible with regards to the ranking. Thus if the ranking is changed due the activities of users, the ordered List in the cache must not be left stale for very long. Once I've recalculated a new List, I want to replace the one in cache immediately. Consider a busy scenario whereby multiple concurrent clients are requesting for the ranking; how can I replace the cache item in an fashion such that: Clients can continue to pull a possibly stale snapshot. They should never get a null value. There will only be 1 server thread that writes to the cache.

When i start typing in the city box, the style changes so the autocompleter is doing something, but it won't display this data. If i hard-code the above it works. Can anyone see what's wrong? Thanks

  • Is there a way to make a Google Web Toolkit (GWT) Button look like a HTML Hyperlink?

    I plan on appending some comments onto a text, to do that, first, I need the concerned text to act like a button for me to launch a popup, which in turn shows the comment. For that to happen, I need to make that concerned text to act like a button in GWT, but due to some aesthetic reasons I don't want it to look like a normal GWT Button, instead, I prefer it to look like any normal HTML hyper-link, which upon clicking it, acts exactly like a GWT Button which in turn showing the comment in the pop up. So is there a way to make a GWT Button appear more like a html hyper-link? Or, at the minimum, would it be possible to convert the concerned text to .JPG for it to be inserted into a Image Button in GWT?

  • Nginx virtual server only partially working with Java application

  • Caching web API proxy?

    I was wondering if anyone knows of a caching proxy specifically for dealing with API responses? Ideally, I'd be able to declare what caching policy to use for different API semantics, e.g. cache album art for 1 day, cache favorite tweets for 5 minutes, cache map tiles forever, except invalidate when this other API is called. I know about using Apache, Squid, etc for caching in general -- I'm just hoping for something with nicer usage semantics by restricting the design goal to dealing with APIs rather than the web in general.

Background: app has some "legacy" persistence code that does not use Hibernate, but has a home-grown cache implementation. New entities are Hibernate enabled. What I want: to use Terracotta for Hibernate 2nd level cache. I think I then want to slide out the home-grown cache impl and slide in ehcache (very similar semantically to home-grown version) - obviously I want Terracotta to back that EHCache as well. Confused with: Will I be telling Hibernate that ehcache is it's cache provider, then configure ehcache to use terracotta? So (hibernate | legacy-persistence)- ehcache - terracotta Am I on the right track? Forgive the newb question but the terracotta.org site really confuses me since so much of it it trying to sell me the commercial varieties.

    We have successfully used GData libraries to access a user's Google Docs. But we encountered problems when many users log in to our site and authorize our web app at the same time or successively. Here's what happens: First user successful logs in, authorizes our web app via OAuth and is able to add rubric (or google spreadsheet). Second user, immediately after first user adds a rubric, successfully logs in then webapp fails on authorize (Token not given. I tried to log it.) Third user fails on login. Fourth user was able to log in, authorize via OAuth, and create rubrics successfully. Fifth user was able to log in but like the second user, gets an invalid token on authorize (Token not given.) And the list goes on. Results were unpredicatable.   • Setting refresh-policies in Ehcache

    Is there any to specify a data refresh policy in Ehcache? I am currently migrating an application from OSCache to Ehcache and I can't seem to find any way to specify when an element needs refreshing, besides setting timeToIdle and timeToLive. What I want is: on accessing an element from the cache, check with it's associated resource to see if it was updated later than the lastUpdateTime of the cache element. If yes, refresh the cache; else serve the content from the cache. In OSCache this was done by catching NeedsRefreshExceptions and setting custom refresh policies for the elements. I've been digging around in the docs for a while now, but I wasn't able to find any methods or examples of how I could accomplish this in Ehcache. Any help would be appreciated :). Alex
