Porting a web application to work in IE7

I'm developing a web application that uses lots of Javascript and CSS, both of my own creation and through third-party libraries. These include jQuery and Google Maps & Visualization JS APIs. I've been testing everything in Firefox 3. Things are peachy until it turns out the main target of this webapp is (cue sad trombone) IE7. I'm looking for caveats, advice, libraries, or other references to help make this transition as easy as possible (not that it's actually going to be easy). I've already tried IE7.js though it hasn't yet shown itself to be the silver bullet I was hoping for. I'm sure that it works as advertised, I think it's just not as all-encompassing as I'd like (example: colors like #4684EE and #DC3912, which are correctly rendered in FF3, are rendered as black in IE7, with or without IE7.js). Are there other libraries out there to help bring IE7 (more) in line with FF3? A corollary question: what debugger would you recommend for IE7? I'm currently using Firebug Lite, but it runs painfully slowly. Is there anything out there with similar features that I might have missed?

pythonpath issue? "python2.5: can't open file 'dev_appserver.py': [Errno 2] No such file or director

I added this line to my .bashrc (Ubuntu 9.10): export PYTHONPATH=/opt/google_appengine/ And then I ran the dev_appserver through python2.5 on Ubuntu like this: $ python2.5 dev_appserver.py guestbook/ python2.5: can't open file 'dev_appserver.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory As you can see, it can't find dev_appserver.py even though it's in my /opt/google_appengine/ directory. Just to make sure it's not a permissions issue I did this: sudo chmod a+rwx dev_appserver.py To check whether it's been added to the system path for python2.5 I did this: $ python2.5 Python 2.5.5 (r255:77872, Apr 29 2010, 23:59:20) [GCC 4.4.1] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import sys >>> for line in sys.path: print line ... /usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages/setuptools-0.6c9-py2.5.egg /opt/google_appengine/demos /opt/google_appengine /usr/local/lib/python25.zip ... YQL + PHP : how to make a facebook login

Hi! I was reading some stuff about the YQL api that Yahoo! has provided, I am not sure, but it appears to be a collection of lots of third party api into one common language, right? what I don't get is how to make the facebook login through it so I can get the user profile data... My project is to add a facebook(and other social networks) form login, because the website won't have his own login, people will have to use a social network to link in. Then I thought the YQL would help me out with this task so I wouldn't have to develop lots of functions to each one of the networks. Reading this http://developer.yahoo.com/yql/guide/yql-code-examples.html#sdk_yql, I understood how to make a Yahoo login so I can access some private data, but couldn't find how I could do it with facebook and others So my question... Can YQL help me with this? Can you give me a simple example of a facebook session using it within PHP? Are there alternatives to aid me in this task? thanks, Jonathan

How can I store this kind of graph in neo4j for fast traversal?

This is a graph whose nodes exist in many connected components at once because a node's relationships are a collection of edge groups such that only one edge per edge group can be present at once. I need to be able to find all of the connected components that a node exists in. What would be the best way to store this graph in neo4j to quickly find all of the connected components that a node exists in? Is there a way to use the built in traversals to do this? Also: is there a name for this kind of graph? I'd appreciate any help/ideas. Update: Sorry for not being clear. All nodes are of the same type. Nodes have a variable number of edge groups. Exactly one edge from each edge group needs to be chosen for a particular connected component. I'm going to try to explain through example: Node x1 is related to: (x2 or x3 or x4) AND (x5 or x6) AND (x7) Node x2 is related to: (x8) AND (x9 or x10) So x1's first edge group is (x2, x3, x4), its second edge group is (x5, x6), and its third edge group is (x7). So here are a few connected components that x1 exists in: CC1: x1 is related to: x2, x5, x7 x2 is related to: x8 x9 CC2: x1 is related to: x2, x6, x7 x2 is related to: x8, x9 CC3: x1 is related to: x3, x5, x7 CC4: x1 is related to: x3, x6, x7 etc. I'm grateful for your help in this.

Is there a table of OpenGL extensions, versions, and hardware support somewhere?

I'm looking for some resource that can help me decide what OpenGL version my game needs at minimum, and what features to support through extensions. Ideally, a table of the following format: 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.2.1 1.3 ... multitexture - ARB ARB core core texture_float - EXT EXT ARB ARB ... (Not sure about the values I put in, but you get the idea.) The extension specs themselves, at opengl.org, list the minimum OpenGL version they need, so that part is easy. However, many extensions have been accepted and became core standard in subsequent OpenGL versions, but it is very hard to find when that happened. The only way I could find is to compare the full OpenGL standards document for each version. On a related note, I would also very much like to know which extensions/features are supported by which hardware, to help me decide what features I can safely use in my game, and which ones I need to make optional. For example, a big honkin' table like this: MAX_TEXTURE_IMAGE_UNITS MAX_VERTEX_TEXTURE_IMAGE_UNITS ... GeForce 6xxx 8 4 GeForce 7xxx 16 8 ATi x300 8 4 ... (Again, I'm making the values up.) The table could list hardware limitations from glGet but also support for particular extensions, and limitations of such extension support (e.g. what floating-point texture formats are supported in hardware). Any pointers to these or similar resources would be hugely appreciated!

qTip pop ups come in from top left of screen (on first load)

Hi, not sure if i'm set things up incorrectly - I don't seem to see anyone else with this problem, but my qTip popups (all ajax loaded content) are loading quite erratically, in that they are often animating in from off screen before appearing in the correct position. Is there a simple solution to this which I may have missed? Thanks again for your help. Can't find momd file: Core Data problems

Aw geez! I screwed something up! I'm a Core Data noob, working on my first iOS app. After much Stack Overflowing I'm using this code: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"momd"]; if (!path) { path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"mom"]; } NSAssert(path != nil, @"Unable to find Resource in main bundle"); CoreData is the name of my app. I've tried to put in initial data into the app by finding the path to the sqlite file in my iPhone simulator, and then going and inserting into that sqlite file. But at some point, I moved the sqlite (thinking it would create a fresh copy), deleted the app from the simulator, and the sqlite file is gone. I'm not sure if I'm leaving out some part of the process (this was a few hours ago) but the end result is that everything is screwed up. How do I resubstantiate this sqlite / momd file? "Clean" and "Clean all targets" are grayed out. I'm happy to post the relevant code from my app that would help shed some light on this problem but there's tons of code relating to Core Data which I don't understand, so I'm not sure what part to post! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Creating a ComboBox with one or more separator items?

I'm using Delphi7 and I'd like to have a ComboBox with separator items (Just like in popup menus). I've seen this beautifully implemented in Mozilla Sunbird (I know, it's not Delphi...) the following way: The separator item is a simple gray line drawn in the center of the item If you hover over the separator with the mouse, the selection doesn't appear If the user clicks the separator, it's not selected either AND the combobox doesn't closeup. No. 1 could be implemented using DrawItem. I could live without No. 2 because I have no idea about that. For No. 3 I'm asking for your help. I've figured out that straight after closing up a CBN_CLOSEUP message is sent to the combobox. I thought about hooking the window proc and if CBN_CLOSEUP is sent to a certain combobox then countering it. But I'm unsure if this is the best solution, or maybe there are other, more elegant ways? Whatever the solution is, I'd like to have a standard ComboBox which supports WinXP/Vista/7 theming properly. Thanks! Low Level Console Input

I'm trying to send commands to to the input of a cmd.exe application using the low level read/write console functions. I have no trouble reading the text (scraping) using the ReadConsole...() and WriteConsole() functions after having attached to the process console, but I've not figured out how to write for example "dir" and have the console interpret it as a sent command. Here's a bit of my code: CreateProcess(NULL, "cmd.exe", NULL, NULL, FALSE, CREATE_NEW_CONSOLE, NULL, NULL, &si, &pi); AttachConsole(pi.dwProcessId); strcpy(buffer, "dir"); WriteConsole(GetStdHandle(STD_INPUT_HANDLE), buffer, strlen(buffer), &charRead, NULL); STARTUPINFO attributes of the process are all set to zero, except, of course, the .cb attribute. Nothing changes on the screen, however I'm getting an Error 6: Invalid Handle returned from WriteConsole to STD_INPUT_HANDLE. If I write to (STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE) I do get my dir written on the screen, but nothing of course happens. I'm guessing SetConsoleMode() might be of help, but I've tried many mode combinations, nothing helped. I've also created a quick console application that waits for input (scanf()) and echoes back whatever goes in, didn't work. I've also tried typing into the scanf() promp and then peek into the input buffer using PeekConsoleInput(), returns 0, but the INPUT_RECORD array is empty. I'm aware that there is another way around this using WriteConsoleInput() to directly inject INPUT_RECORD structured events into the console, but this would be way too long, I'll have to send each keypress into it. I hope the question is clear. Please let me know if you need any further information. Thanks for your help.

DNS protocol message example

hello there, I am trying to figure out how to send out DNS messages from an application socket adapter to a DNSBL. I spent the last two days understanding the basics, including experimenting with WireShark to catch an example of message exchanged. Now I would like to query the DNS without using dig or host command (I'm using Ubuntu); how can I perform this action at low level, without the help of these tools in wrapping the request in a proper DNS message format? How the message should be post it? Hex or String? Thanks in advance for any help. Regards Alessandro Ilardo Comment added I am investigating on JDev and Oracle SOA. The platform provides a Socket Adapter which simply apply a transformation (XSLT) and send the message straight to the socket. How the payload parameters (ex. the host I'm looking up) are wrapped within the message is left to the developer. So basically I have an idea on how the all DNS message is structured, but rather than put everything on JDev stright away I'd like to make some tests on my own just to make sure I got a valid message format. So, I am not using any specific language (I don't even understand why they moved my question from serverfault) and I don't want to use any tools which would hide part of the message, such as the header. I know they work well btw. I guess this stuff has something to do with packet injection. Someone suggested me to use telnet, but I've only used for SMTP or HTTP, I haven't got a clue on how it works for DNS request. Does it make more sense now?

Cannot open a SQL2000 DTS package I imported into SQL2008

I am running into a problem trying to open a SQL2000 DTS package I imported into SQL2008. I set up a new server and installed a fresh install of SQL2008. The database I need to run is a SQL2000 database. I moved the database over with no problem but there are a few DTS packages that need to run in legacy on SQL2008. I exported the DTS packages I need out of SQL2000 and imported them successfully into SQL2008. My SQL2008 server is x64. I can see the DTS packages under Data Transformation Service in Legacy but when I try to open the package I get this message. "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages. Install the special web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components" to use this feature. (Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI)" I downloaded the components and installed them and still get this error. I researched and found an article about this not working on x64 so I have an x86 machine that I installed the SQL2008 tools and tried to open the package from there and got the same error. I have spent days on this and need help. Has anyone run across this and can tell me what to do. If you have solved this problem, please help me out. Thanks.

I need to create links using dynamic values for both the URL and the anchor text. I have column called URL, which contains URL's, i.e., http://stackoverflow.com, and I have a column called Title, which contains the text for the anchor, i.e., This Great Site. I figure maybe all I need to do is nest this tags, along with a little HTML to get my desired result: <a href="> <xsl:value-of select="@URL">"> <xsl:value-of select="@Title"/> </xsl:value-of> </a> In my head, this would render: <a href=" http://stackoverflow.com"> This Great Site </a> I know there's more to it, but I haven't been able to clearly understand what more I need. I think this issue has been addressed before, but not in a way I could understand it. I have to create a binary search tree which is templated and can deal with any data types, including abstract data types like objects. Since it is unknown what types of data an object might have and which data is going to be compared, the client side must create a comparison function and also a print function (because also not sure which data has to be printed). I have edited some C code which I was directed to and tried to template, but I cannot figure out how to configure the client display function. I suspect variable 'tree_node' of class BinarySearchTree has to be passed in, but I am not sure how to do this. For this program I'm creating an integer binary search tree and reading data from a file. i am working on a android project for my assignment. i am trying to make a scratch image application, you know it's like we scratch the screen to get rid the blocking layer to display the image. but the problem is i don't know where to start. i have searching in stackoverflow's questions that related to this but that's not help. from my search there, i found a clue for this project is using Bitmap.getPixel(int x, int y). so, in my thought i have to get pixel from bitmap and paint it to canvas. but i don't know how to implement it? or anyone has a better method for this? Make Errors: Missing Includes in C++ Script?

I am only a beginner in C++ and have no idea what the below erros means or how to fix it. This is the script in question. Execute a function to affect different template class instances

I have a complicated problem, and I need help. I have a base case, class ParamBase { string paramValue; //... } and a bunch of class templates with different template parameters. template <typename T> class Param : public ParamBase { T value; //... } Now, each instance of Param has different template parameter, double, int, string... etc. To make it easier, I have a vector to their base class pointers that contains all the instances that have been created: vector<ParamBase*> allParamsObjects; The question is: How can I run a single function (global or member or anything, your choice), that converts all of those different instances' strings paramValue with different templates arguments and save the conversion result to the appropriate type in Param::value. This has to be run over all objects that are saved in the vector allParamsObjects. So if the template argument of the first Param is double, paramValue has to be converted to double and saved in value; and if the second Param's argument is int, then the paramValue of the second has to be converted to int and saved in value... etc. I feel it's almost impossible... Any help would be highly appreciated :-)

Im using a couple of JS functions to set a cookie named 'visible' with the value of either yes or no. Essentially Im using these values to decide if a <div> is visible or hidden. I've only just added the cookie, previously I had been using two images 1. Show 2. Hide as a button to hide and show the <div> like this: HTML: <img class="show" title="Show" alt="Show" src="images/show.png" /> <img class="hide" title="Hide" alt="Hide" src="images/hide.png" /> JQUERY: $("#tool").click(function() { $(".help").slideToggle(); $("#wrapper").animate({ opacity: 1.0 },200).slideToggle(200, function() { $("#tool img").toggle(); }); }); However I have now added the Cookie into the mix: $("#tool").click(function() { if(get_cookie('visible')== null) { set_cookie('visible','no'); } else { delete_cookie('visible'); } $(".help").slideToggle(); $("#wrapper").animate({ opacity: 1.0 },200).slideToggle(200, function() { $("#slider img").toggle(); }); }); So the .toggle() no longer matches the state of the <div> When the cookie value = no the show.png should be visible When the cookie value = yes then the hide.png should be visible Can anyone suggest how i can ammend this?

Searching For A Record After A LINQ query

I'm confused to why this is happening. I'm new to LINQ so I'm clearly missing something here, that is probably pretty easy. I've looked up help on the topic, but I don't really know what to ask so I haven't found any answers that really address my question. And why does creating a list from the query allow me to use the FirstOrDefault method? Exception Message: A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.EntityCommandExecutionException' occurred in System.Data.Entity.dll I guess I am wrong in my assumption that query is a list? Hi, I try to explain you my "problem". I would like to know when I select a part of text, if this text is “wrapped” by html tags, and in function delete them. For example with this sentence : The car is <strong>green</strong>, and the boat is black If I select “green” and click on a button, I would like verify if green is wrapped by <strong>(for that it’s ok), and in function delete <strong> tags without delete containing “green”. Pretty new to jQuery, so I'm hoping someone can help me out... There's a couple of things going on here... Help with any part of it is appreciated. For starters, I'm trying to append a row to a table when a user clicks in the first enabled input field for that row. I have xml file in sdcard(xxx.file) how to read all the xml tag properties values starting point to end point and prints that value please help me I am not familiar in xml pullparser please help me...
