• Info on Seam's EntityQuery?

  I've been working with Seam and JPA/Hibernate for quite some time, but have just started looking at making use of the EntityHome and EntityQuery classes more. EntityHome seems relatively straightforward in terms of what it is and how I can leverage it. But, EntityQuery is a bit less clear. I understand the ability to grab, for example, a list containing all of a given entity. However, I've also seen some examples using a RESTRICTIONS array. How exactly is this used? Are the OR conditions or AND conditions? Can anyone give me some more detailed information as to how EntityQuery is intended to be used? I've checked the few books I have on Seam and JPA, but none of them really reference the EntityQuery classes. It seems like I very useful mechanism, and I'd like to get some more use out of them if I can. Thanks!

• Newbie SQL joining question: houses, refrigerators, and apples

  There are three tables in my database: apples, refrigerators, and houses. Each apple belongs to a refrigerator (it has a column that references the refrigerator that it's in), and each refrigerator belongs to a house. The problem is, each apple ALSO belongs to a house. I guess this isn't "normalized" or whatever, but it's the way it is. Obviously, each apple should belong to the house that its refrigerator belongs to. An apple can't be in two different places at once, after all. So, my question is this: what SQL statement will allow me to find all of the "bad apples" that for some reason incorrectly reference a different house than the refrigerator that they are supposedly in. In other words, I need to find the apples that contain contradictory information. I don't know if this is a "join" question or not, but I'm sure there's probably a very straightforward way of figuring this out. I just don't know what it is. Thanks for your help!

  I have a structure in matlab that has a value of <1x1 struct>., its name is figurelist. Inside that structure, there is a field called images. Inside images, I have 25 images that have the name img1, img2, img3, ...... , img25. Now I made a for loop to extract those images, I basically did: For K=1:25 image(figurelist.images.imgK) PAUSE(0.25) End This unfortunately doesnt work. I get an error saying : ??? Reference to non-existent field 'imgK'. Is it possible to extract such info using a loop from a structure? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

• How to handle feedback from background threads if the user uses the back button?

  I have the following problem: I have an Activity where a user can start a web search showing a new activity to show a progress bar until the results are shown. Now the user can either wait for the results or maybe think about the search parameters, hit the back button and triggering a new search. The search is running in an Async Task and therefor still running if the user hits back. At the moment the thread finishes it calls some methods on the old activity causing the activity to show a dialog. This causes the system to crash because the dialog tries to show itself with a reference to an activity that is not longer present on the screen. How can I achieve a dialog that is only shown if the activity is still active?

  for a school project I am trying to make an android application that, once started, will perform a spectrum analysis of live audio received from the microphone or a bluetooth headset. I know I should be using FFT, and have been looking at moonblink's open source audio analyzer ( http://code.google.com/p/moonblink/wiki/Audalyzer ) but am not familiar with android development, and his code is turning out to be too difficult for me to work with. So I suppose my questions are, are there any easier java based, or open source android apps that do spectrum analysis I can reference? Or is there any helpful information that can be given, such as; steps that need be taken to get the microphone input, put it into an fft algorithm, then display a graph of frequency and pitch over time from its output? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  I'm stuck at how to save the state of my EditTexts on screen orientation. Currently if text is inputted into the EditTexts and the screen is orientated, the fields are wiped (as expected). I am already calling onSaveInstanceState and saving a String, but I have no clue on how to save the EditTexts which are created in code and then retrieve them and add them to the EditTexts when redrawing the activity. • A problem with .NET 2.0 project, using a 3.0 DLL which implements WCF services.

  I made a client for accessing my WCF services in one project, and all classes that work with services inherit from this class: public abstract class ServiceClient<TServiceClient> : IDisposable where TServiceClient : ICommunicationObject This class is where I do stuff like disposing, logging when the client was called, etc. some common stuff which all service classes would normally do. Everything worked fine, until I got the task to implement this on an old system. I got into a problem when I used this project (DLL) in an other project which cannot reference System.ServiceModel (since it's an old .NET 2.0 software that I still maintain, and upgrading it to 3.0 is out of the question). Here, if I omit where TServiceClient : ICommunicationObject then the project can build, but the ServiceClient cannot use, for example, client.Close() or client.State So, is my only solution to drop the where statement, and rewrite the service classes?

• Hiding result sets from multiple selects in a stored procedure

  I have a stored procedure that retrieves SQL queries as text and executes the statements using sp_executesql. Each of the dynamic queries is a count query in that it only returns the number of records found (select COUNT(id) from...). I am looping through a set of SQL queries stored as text and building a table variable out of the results. At the end, I am selecting all the results from the table variable as the result set that I want returned from the stored procedure. However, when I execute the stored procedure, I am naturally getting multiple result sets (one for each of the dynamic queries and one for the final select.) Is there any way I can suppress the results of a select statement executed through sp_executesql? I have found answers that reference storing the results in a temp table, but I don't have control of the query text that I am running so I can't change it to select into anything. Please help. • Retrieve web user's Identity outside of request scope

  I have an ASP.NET app that logs Audit reports using nHibernate's IPreUpdateListener. In order to set the current user in the Listener events, I was using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(). This works fine when debugging on my machine, but when I move it to the staging server, I'm getting the ASP.NET process credentials, not the requesting user. In the ASP.NET page, I can use Request.LogonUserIdentity (which works fine since I'm using integrated authentication), but how do I reference this user directly without having to pass it directly to my event? I don't want to have to pass this info through the pipeline because it really doesn't belong in the intermediate events/calls.

• Communicate between service and winform

  I could do with a bit of help with a windows service im writing in c#. The service basically just runs various tasks on a schedule. It has 3 main sections: a class which contains everything for the task (config, code to be executed when it runs, etc), the service which contains instances of the tasks, running them on a timer and a windows form which is used to configure the settings for the task. The question I have is would it be possible to reference the service from the Winform whilst the service is running? Ultimately I want to be able to open the Winform and see a live status of what the service is currently doing. I've considered writing something network related to get around it but it didn't seem correct considering that both processes would be on the same machine.

• How can I convert a specific .cs file into either a .bat or a .exe file?

  I am trying to convert around 1,900 .txp files (a proprietary Sony image format) to .png. However, the .exe program I am using to convert these files only allows me to select one file at a time. I am running Windows 7. There's a TXP.CS file in the 'src' folder of the program, so I figured that if I was able to turn that into an executable file, I'd be able to use it to mass convert these files to PNG. However, whenever I try to convert the file using csc.exe, I get the CS0246 error (the type or namespace name 'Tools' could not be found. Are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?). I can't use Microsoft Visual Studio right now, so I'm hoping someone can walk me through this, or maybe convert the file to either a .bat or an .exe for me. Thank you. TXP.CS

  Hello, I am trying to load a database from the memory instead of opening a .sqlite file. I have read the C/C++ API reference but I can not find the proper method. The buffer I am trying to load is simply an sqlite file loaded in memory. I just want to use this buffer (a const char* array) without using the filesystem (I could have saved this buffer in a file, then load the file, but no). First, I create a memory DB : mErrorCode = sqlite3_open_v2(":memory:", &mSqlDatabase, lMode, NULL); This returns SQLITE_OK, then I tried to use the buffer as a statement and call preparev2(MyDB, MyBufferData, MyBufferLength, MyStatement, NULL) but it's not really a statement, and it returns an error. Same result if I call directly exec(MyDB, MyBufferData, NULL, NULL, NULL); I guess there is an appropriate method to achieve this as it might be common to load a DB from a stream or from decrypted data...   I'm looking into porting a script engine written for Windows to Linux; it's for Winamp's visualization platform AVS. I'm not sure if it's even possible at the moment. From what I can tell the code is taking the addresses of the C functions nseel_asm_atan and nseel_asm_atan_end and storing them inside a table that it can reference during code execution. I've looked at MS's documentation, but I'm unsure what __declspec(naked) really does. What is prolog and epilog code mentioned in the documentation? Is that related to Windows calling conventions? Is this portable?   I have a web page that contains a "div" element. On the page, there is javascript to reference the div: document.getElementById('divId'). This was working fine until another developer redesigned the page to use an ASP master page. Now, document.getElementById('divId') returns null. It appears that ASP.net prepends some characters to the names of elements within contents forms when you use a master page. How can I know what the id of the div is when the page loads? Update Allow me to give a specific example to clarify the question: My page had a div with ID divNotice. After changing my page to use a master page, I see when I print the source to the page that renders that the div ID is ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_divNotice. My question is, how am I supposed to know what the div ID is going to be when the framework is done with it?

  I'm trying to get a custom dialog with a transparent background doing this way: this.getWindow().setBackgroundDrawableResource(R.drawable.transparent); (where "R.drawable.transparent" is a reference to the color "#00000000") The weird issue on this is that I can't align my dialog window. It's always aligned to the left, even if I implicit set the Gravity of the window using: this.getWindow().setGravity(Gravity.CENTER); And if I just comment the line which set the transparent background, the alignment works fine. • How does one refer to the game1 class's variables in XNA

  I try to refer to an array in the Game1 class by creating an object of the Game1 class with its definition Game1 gameObject; , its declaration gameObject = new Game1(); in the constructor, and its usage gameObject.tileArray[xInt, yInt].treed = true;. The game1 class itself remains unchanged in its class code other than some methods and variables. When I try to use this code in the TreeRegion class it gives me "Object reference not set to an instance of an object," leading me to believe that the game1 class is null somehow. How might one change the class or object in order to refer to game1's variables? Mind you I am self-taught and still rather new to C#. • In a pre-commit hook - how to access/compare current and previous versions of files

  I'm trying to add to our existing pre-commit SVN hook so that it will check for and block an increase in file size for files in specific directory/s. I've written a python script to compare two file sizes, which takes two files as arguments and uses sys.exit(0) or (1) to return the result, this part seems to work fine. My problem is in calling the python script from the batch file, how to reference the newly committed and previous versions of each file? The existing code is new to me and a mess of %REPOS%, %TXN%s etc and I'm not sure how to go about using them. Is there a simple, standard way of doing this? It also already contains code to loop through the changed files using svnlook changed, so that part shouldn't be an issue. Thanks very much
