  • Multi table Triggers SQL Server noob

    I have a load of tables all with the same 2 datetime columns (lastModDate, dateAdded). I am wondering if I can set up global Insert Update trigger for these tables to set the datetime values. Or if not, what approaches are there? Any pointers much appreciated

  • Just an experiment changing the application data path

    When I change the Appication Data path in windows xp registry to a network folder I get this error message on the next system startup: "windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you with the default profile system" The registry keys are: "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]" "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]" under the names "AppData" and "Local AppData" I dont care if "Windows logins you with the default profile system" but is there a way to disable that message, or change the message timeout form 30 seconds to 0?,or maybe create an script that changes the Application Data path every system startup? P.S. The computer with the shared folder is always on.

  • How to get a debug flow of execution in C++

    Hi, I work on a global trading system which supports many users. Each user can book,amend,edit,delete trades. The system is regulated by a central deal capture service. The deal capture service informs all the user of any updates that occur. The problem comes when we have crashes, as the production environment is impossible to re-create on a test system, I have to rely on crash dumps and log files. However this doesn't tell me what the user has been doing. I'd like a system that would (at the time of crashing) dump out a history of what the user has been doing. Anything that I add has to go into the live environment so it can't impact performance too much. Ideas wise I was thinking of a MACRO at the top of each function which acted like a stack trace (only I could supply additional user information, like trade id's, user dialog choices, etc ..) The system would record stack traces (on a per thread basis) and keep a history in a cyclic buffer (varying in size, depending on how much history you wanted to capture). Then on crash, I could dump this history stack. I'd really like to hear if anyone has a better solution, or if anyone knows of an existing framework? Thanks Rich

    Hello, I have a problem with performance of my code under Windows Forms. Have a form, her layout is depending on constructor data, because he layout must be OnLoad or in Constructor generated.     Hi, I have a database for my personal site and at the moment it is storing different domains of information (Eg cv, CMS schema, and more, all in one DB). I have noticed that sets of tables (eg all for one domain) have no relationship to other groups of tables as they are completely unrelated. What implication does this have on database design? I can assume this is a time I need to think about having 1 DB.

  • Cannot Generate ParameterSetMetadata While Programmatically Creating A Parameter Block

    I'm trying to programmatically create a parameter block for a function ( along the lines of this blog post ). I'm starting with a CommandMetadata object (from an existing function). I can create the ParameterMetadata object and set things like the ParameterType, the name, as well as some attributes. The problem I'm running into is that when I use the GetParamBlock method of the ProxyCommand class, none of my attributes that I set in the Attributes collection of the ParameterMetadata are generated. The problem this causes is that when the GetParamBlock is called, the new parameter is not annotated with the appropriate Parameter attribute.   • Problems with with A* algorithm

    I'm trying to implement the A* algorithm in Java. I followed this tutorial,in particular, this pseudocode: http://theory.stanford.edu/~amitp/GameProgramming/ImplementationNotes.html The problem is my code doesn't work. It goes into an infinite loop. I really don't know why this happens... I suspect that the problem are in F = G + H function implemented in Graph constructors. I suspect I am not calculate the neighbor F correclty. In my web.config I have <sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" cookieless="false" timeout="20"> </sessionState> I have read a dozen articles on the the necessity of IHttpHandler and an IRequiresSessionState interface. I think the issue may be caused because I am requesting this information in Page_PreInit. I found a solution in a stack overflow article but I don't seem be using it properly to actually make this go. I am not sure what I am missing. Thanks in advance.

    I'm writing some program which should perform calculations concurrently according to inputs which reach the system all the time. I'm considering 2 approaches to allocate "calculation" processes: Allocating processes in the system initialization, insert the ids to Processes table, and each time I want to perform calculation, I will check in the table which process is free. The questions: can I be sure that those processes are only for my use and that the operating system doesn't use them? Not allocating processes in advance. Each time when calculation should be done ask the operating system for free process. I need to know the following inputs from a "calculation" process: When calculation is finished and also if it succeeded or failed If a processes has failed I need to assign the calculation to another process Thanks in advance.   • SSL_accept hangs... sometimes ( C, linux, openssl )

    I'm currently working on an embedded linux system. There are two crucial client applications on the system that connect to an external server ( on another embedded system, all written in C ). The two apps use different certificates. The ssl connection works... At least usually, but from time to time an error occures: the server hangs on SSL_accept() when accepting connection from one of the applications - the one using older certificates. Restarting the server application does not help, nor does restarting the client - the only way is to reboot the server system, unless I create a symbilic link to the new certificates used by the other app - only then will restarting the server app work. Never does the error occur when both applications use the same, new certificate. Could this happen due to some strange openssl cache or something like that?

    I use the function "IOPMSchedulePowerEvent" to schedule Sleep or Wake-Events and registered my daemon with "IORegisterForSystemPower" to receive power-state-changes. Everything works fine! When system going sleep and later waking up at scheduled time, my daemon do some work, and after it system should going sleep again. Now my questions: How can i detect, if the system was awaked by user or by the scheduled time? How can i detect, if a user currently working with the system, so the daemon have not to put it in sleep-mode??? Thanks Nobik

    If you had two databases, that had two tables between them that would normally implement a one to one (or many to many) constraint but cannot since they are separate databases, how would you validate this relationship in an application or test? Is there a simple way to do this? For example, a tool or technique that can, given a constraint type, tables and fields, does the validation. I imagine that this isn't the first time this come up so I'm hoping people can share their solution. Thanks.
