• Problem with response.redirect sending incorrect HTTPMethod

  Hi, I've got a strange problem with a Response.Redirect. I'm using VB.NET with the .NET 2 framework (so VS2005 & SP1). I've got a page that I do a form submit on (that's a proper form method="POST" hard-coded onto the page) and that properly posts me back the page data which is then processed. As part of that processing the system determines if we need to get sent to another URL after processing has been complete. So the request.httpmethod = "POST". So if the "GotoPage" parameter has a URL specified we then do a response.redirect(URL, false). (False as we want page processing to complete in order to write some timing logs etc). The page correctly redirects but instead of the response having a "GET" as the request.httpmethod it has a "POST" instead ! Now, we're using our own custom framework so that we use the HTTPRequest method to determine if a page has been posted back or is being "Getted" so the "IsPagePostBack" property doesn't work (that only works when you're using the normal .NET controls and form submissions). In all other instances our code works happily but what might be causing the Request.httpMethod to not be being set correctly ? I've tried doing a response.clear before the redirect in case headers are being written out before hand but to no avail. Any clues ?! thanks, Andy

• ASP.NET MVC Binding issue

  Hi, I have an object with a property called "name". This object has a sub object that has a property called "name" as well. Transaction.name Transaction.TransactionItem TransactionItem.name I bind Transaction object to a partial control as usual: Html.TextBox("name", Model.name)% Model is a Transaction object. And I bind TransactionItems: < if (Model.mtTransactionItem != null) { foreach (var item in Model.mtTransactionItem) { % <%= Ajax.ActionLink(item.name, "ShowItem", new { id = item.id }, new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "dialog-form" })% And when I update the one of the transaction items through an ajax call I pass the entire transaction object to the partial view. When I debug I check the Model.name property, and it has a proper value. But on the page shows the name of TransactionItem value instead of the name of Transaction value. What do I do wrong? I have checked this problem in MVC 1.0 and MVC 2.0 framework.

• How to use RadSpell within a Telerik MVC Grid editor popup?

  Is it possible to use RadSpell within a Telerik MVC Grid editor popup? I have followed some of the examples online to use RadSpell with ASP.NET MVC (http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/mvc-using-spellchecker.html and http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/spell-client-side-api.html) and I am able to attach multiple text controls to check but the display gets messed up when using Telerik MVC Grid editor popups since it's already in a modal. Sometimes it will randomly pick another div on the page and treats it like it's the main window (it will gray out just a portion of the page and I'll see the RadSpell popup peeking through but it's unusable). It seems like it chooses different places in the DOM to inject the iframe/radwindow for RadSpell as well. Any ideas? I didn't include any code because my implementation is a mess and I'd prefer to start with something simpler, from scratch.

• WPF Combobox Updates list but not the selected item

  I have a combo box on a WPF form. On this form the user selects a record from the combo box which populates the rest of the fields on the form so the user can update that record. When they click save I am re-retrieving the combo box source which updates the combo box list. The problem is the selected item keeps the original label even though the data behind it is different. When you expand the combo box the selected item shows the right label. I am using a command binding mechanism. THe SalesRepSelItem property called NotifyPropertyChanges("SalesRepSelItem") which raises a PropertyChanged event. All told the binding of new items seems to work and the list updates, but the label on the selected item doesnt. Any ideas? Thanks all.

  I'm developing a project using BDD/TDD techniques and I'm trying my best to stay the course. A problem I just ran into is unit testing the DefaultModelBinder. I'm using mspec to write my tests.   So I was just trying to setup a basic user authentication in Django and downloaded a django registration app with templates. Now when I run the server at 127.0.0.1:8000/accounts/register/ I get a basic registration page, I fill in the details and when I click submit I get this error "NoReverseMatch at /accounts/register/" Error during template rendering In template Users/sudhasinha/mysite/mysite/registration/templates/registration/activation_email.txt, error at line 4 'url' requires a non-empty first argument. • Suggestions for GUI of a multiledia messaging application in J2ME

  Hello everyone, We have developed a messaging application in j2me which adds text message, gets pictures from gallery and attaches them to the message etc and sends it over to a server after encryption, i.e. the client wants the messages to be encrypted. The app is ready but the only problem is that the GUI of the app looks miserable compared to the GUI of native messaging application on Nokia phones. Our GUI consists of a texfield for adding recipients i.e. the user clicks "options" to "add recipients" and is taken to a new form where contacts are shown. but the textfield is not in one line (like in case of native app). Also, we need the user to input the text message in a textField since we cannot have textbox inside a form (but the native app has a textbox as well as a textField ). Are there any ways to achieve such GUIs (one-line textfields, textbox like thing inside a form)? I hope you all understand what I mean, any kind of help will be appreciated. • Should I use Google Web Toolkit for my new webapp?

  I would like to create a database backed interactive AJAX webapp which has a custom (specific kind of events, editing) calendaring system. This would involve quite a lot of JavaScript and AJAX, and I thought about Google Web Toolkit for the interface and Ruby on Rails for server side. Is Google Web Toolkit reliable and good? What hidden risks might be if I choose Google Web Toolkit? Can one easily combine it with Ruby on Rails on server side? Or should I try to use directly a JavaScript library like jQuery? I have no experience in web development except some HTML, but I am an experienced programmer (c++, java, c#), and I would like to use only free tools for this project.

• Run a PHP-script from a PHP-script without blocking

  I'm building a spider which will traverse various sites and data mining them. Since I need to get each page separately this could take a VERY long time (maybe 100 pages). I've already set the set_time_limit to be 2 minutes per page but it seems like apache will kill the script after 5 minutes no matter. This isn't usually a problem since this will run from cron or something similar which does not have this time limit. However I would also like the admins to be able to start a fetch manually via a HTTP-interface. It is not important that apache is kept alive for the full duration, I'm, going to use AJAX to trigger a fetch and check back once in a while with AJAX. My problem is how to start the fetch from within a PHP-script without the fetch being terminated when the script calling it dies. Maybe I could use system('script.php &') but I'm not sure it will do the trick. Any other ideas?

  I am using zend framework. Now I want to authenticate users with other already registered accounts using RPX. I am following the 3 steps as described at RPX site: 1- Get the Widget 2- Receive Tokens 3- Choose Providers I created a controller(person) and action(signin) to show widget and my own signin form. I want to redirect to http://test.dev/#person/personsignin after authentication and want to set session in isPost() condition of personsigninAction() (described above). For now I consider indexAction to be called when outside authentication is done. Now I posted the code from http://gist.github.com/291396 in indexAction to follow step 3 mentioned above. But it is giving me following error: An error occured: Invalid parameter: apiKey Am I using the right way to use this. This is my very first attempt to this stuff. Can someone tell me the exact steps using my above actions? Thanks.

  I've written some HTML/Javascript that sits on a third-party server for security reasons. This page performs a javascript post to another page on the same site. However, instead of responding with useful data, it instead wants to perform a redirect (if you would post via a normal HTML form to this page, it would redirect your browser). How can I process this process? I basically want to be able to extract the url's query parameters that it is trying to redirect with (and then put this link into a hidden form field). The problem is this ModelForm is that each field defined in the model will be displayed on the template. I would like to remove them from the form if they are not needed: exemple : if the user has no right on the model Company, it won't be used it in the rendered form in the template. The problem of that is you have to put the list of fields in the Meta class of the form with fields or exclude attribute, but i don't know how to manage them dynamically. Any Idea?? • HTML element not accessible with jQuery

  Hello, I have a via with some jQuery function to get value from HTML element (to access element available and element not yet available). On of these element is a dropdown, when I select a value an another vue is added in the bottom of the page in a div. When I try to access an element added by this view, I received "undefined". What can I do ? • Force creation of query execution plan

  I have the following situation: .net 3.5 WinForm client app accessing SQL Server 2008 Some queries returning relatively big amount of data are used quite often by a form Users are using local SQL Express and restarting their machines at least daily Other users are working remotely over slow network connections The problem is that after a restart, the first time users open this form the queries are extremely slow and take more or less 15s on a fast machine to execute. Afterwards the same queries take only 3s. Of course this comes from the fact that no data is cached and must be loaded from disk first. My question: Would it be possible to force the loading of the required data in advance into SQL Server cache? Note My first idea was to execute the queries in a background worker when the application starts, so that when the user starts the form the queries will already be cached and execute fast directly. I however don't want to load the result of the queries over to the client as some users are working remotely or have otherwise slow networks. So I thought just executing the queries from a stored procedure and putting the results into temporary tables so that nothing would be returned. Turned out that some of the result sets are using dynamic columns so I couldn't create the corresponding temp tables and thus this isn't a solution. Do you happen to have any other idea?

• WPF toolbar disappearing on resize

  On my main form I have a toolbar with a number of buttons. Once the parent form is resized down by dragging it so that the entire toolbar with all its buttons no longer fits in the width of the window, the whole toolbar disappears. Is there a way I can make it so that as you resize it, when you get to the width of the toolbar the inner controls of the form stop resizing and stay displayed, just cut off where the window has resized to?
