• Excel + Web Data

  I've spent hours scouring the net for anything to do with VBA calling data from the web in excel and nothing provides a tutorial on how to do so, only complicated examples un-related to what I want to do. I want to pull data from either a .html or .xml site, doesn't matter, via Excel and find specific points in that data. I can find specific points but don't know how to get the data or scroll through multiple lines. I've done this exact sort of thing in mIRC (sort of C code). http://eve-central.com/home/quicklook.html?typeid=438 http://api.eve-central.com/api/quicklook?typeid=438 Those are two examples, using roughly the same data I'd like to retrieve. It'd be FAR more specific with at most 100 or so different values. I'd like to be TAUGHT how to do it, not given the code to do it, or if you must explain each part with comments in-depth please. • Looking for a new PHP website framework

  I built many a website, and my own 'custom' framework is just a general box of scripts cobbled together with loose ideas. I would love to progress to a framework which allows me to pass it onto the client for freedom. Someone suggested using wordpress but I'm not sure how general this can be. A current site I need to build is a fancy kitchen company, price lists, flash gallery (with backend driven pics) and well designed home. How could I bend the the will of wordpress? • Namespace with index action in Rails

  I have an admin controller located inside /controllers/admin/admin_controller.rb I also have a pages controller located inside /controllers/admin/pages_controller.rb In my routes.rb file, I have the following: map.namespace :admin do |admin| admin.resources :pages end When the user goes to localhost:3000/admin, I'd like the user to see a page with a link to /admin/pages (Pages CRUD) and to / (To go back home). Since I am using a namespace, I cannot have an index action for /admin. How would I get this done and still have my controllers located inside my /controllers/admin folder (rather than using admin as a map.resources component and a has_many association to pages). Please note I am only interested in the show action of admin. Thank you!

• How can I allow only privledged users to download a pdf with php?

  Lets say I have some pdf files stored on my server and I only want to allow a person who's paid have access to download a particular pdf. So for an example, let's say I have a bunch of e-books. The only way a user would be able to download e-book A is if his account contains the right credentials for that particular book. What's the best way to accomplish this? Any ideas/advice on how to improve my idea are greatly appreciated! My current idea: A user places an order Upon success, a new folder would be created by their /account_num/order_id/ A copy of the particular file would be stored in this directory Have php generate an .htaccess that would only allow access from a url that contains a random hash embedded into it. The only way a user would be able to access this random hashed page is if they are signed in as the right user, and the hash matches up with the hash stored in the database, otherwise they are redirected to home page.

• Does an HTTPS SharePoint Site Need to Use HTTPS-Compliant Web Parts?

  I am new to SharePoint, so this question may be a little naive. However, I sincerely appreciate any help with this. We are planning to create a new sub-site within our company's intranet site, which is built on SharePoint 2007. We want to add a 3rd-party weather web part (which is just a widget to display the local weather forecast) to the home page of the new intranet site. Since the intranet site uses HTTPS, do we need to find an HTTPS-compliant web part? Or, is it possible to use any web part and then configure it to use HTTPS? I'm assuming that if we use a non-HTTPS web part, then users will get some sort of "This page contains both secure and non-secure items" error message when they load the page.

• Android app crashes on second run

  I have been working on my app and it runs on the simulator fine. I loaded it into my phone and now I have a problem. It runs fine when I first start it and also if I pick home and then restart it; however, if I use the back arrow and then restart it it crashes on that time, but will work out the next time I start it. I think it has to do with some kind of memory build up, but I verified onDestroy is being called, I figured that deletes everything my program created, right?

• Enumerating combinations in a distributed manner

  I have a problem where I must analyse 500C5 combinations (255244687600) of something. Distributing it over a 10 node cluster where each cluster processes roughly 10^6 combinations per second means the job will be complete in about 7hours. The problem I have is distributing the 255244687600 combinations over the 10 nodes. I'd like to present each node with 25524468760, however the algorithms I'm using can only produce the combinations sequentially, I'd like to be able to pass the set of elements and a range of combination indicies eg: [0-10^7) or [10^7,2.0 10^7) etc and have the nodes themselves figure out the combinations. The algorithms I'm using at the moment are from the following: http://home.roadrunner.com/~hinnant/combinations.html A logical question I've considered using a master node, that enumerates each of the combinations and sends work to each of the nodes, however the overhead incurred in iterating the combinations from a single node and communicating back and forth work is enormous, and will subsequently lead to the master node becoming the bottleneck. Are there any good combination iterating algorithms geared up for efficient/optimal distributed enumeration?

  I am making a simple online application. I have a navigation bar with a few buttons and one "div" into which all the new contents will be loaded dynamically i.e. when I click "About", it will load the page parts into the "div" without reloading the whole page with .load() function. The problem is: what if I need to give a link to the Documents section of my web site, or the user wants to store this kind of link, the url is not rewritten when browsing my site. when the user stores the default link it will always link him to the default "Home" part. How can I rewrite the URL and what is the most correct way to do this?

• How to flush coverage data when my test cause app crash - For ios app

  I want to get the code coverage of my tests. So I set the settings, build an app with .gcno files and run it on simulator. It can get the coverage data successfully if there is no crash issue. But if the app crashed, I will get nothing. So how can I get the code coverage data when the app crash? In my thought, this is because it will not call __gcov_flush() method when app crash. I only add app does not run in background to my plist file, so __gcov_flush() is called only at the time I press Home button. Is there any way to call __gcov_flush() before the app crash?

  Hello everyone I'm trying to tweak a tiny bit a wordpress, but i am level 0 in php, so i kinda suck :/ I want to add a custom 'tweet this' button (i know there already is a gazillion of them, i just wanted to do it on my own, for fun) So, i'm trying this : <a href="http://twitter.com/home?status=<?php strip_tags(the_excerpt()) ?>" >tweet this</a> the_excerpt() returns "<p> ... excerpt ... </p>" and the strip_tags function does not strip those <p> tags !   So the question is simple: is it possible to set windows desktop to corporate application page (anybody remembers that active desktop thing?) and use it instead of browser (sic!). My thoughts: Windows 7: I can create giant full-screen widget that will show my page. Still have no idea if I will be able to navigate inside it though. Windows Vista: ???. I know there is still a side bar gadget that hosts a browser. Windows XP: create static html page with iframe pointing to corporate app home page. Problem: clicking links on page still opens default browser.

• Delphi: Application error logging in the field

  Using Delphi 7, I wonder if there is a free component which will collect diagnostic information as my application runs at a remote site and will help me to debug error reports. Maybe it records each menu item selected, control clicked, text input, etc? Maybe it just dumps the stack on a crash. Maybe it does something else ... I don't mind adding code (e.g at the start and end of each procedure), as that might generate more useful info than a fully automatic system. I am not sure if the solution ought to "phone home" or if it is enough to produce a text file which can be emailed to me. Any suggestions?

Various Artists - Indie Rock Playlist October 2008.pls'] I can't understand what's going on, why are those two specifically escaping my search.

I am returning json from the controller and in FireFox it ask me to download the files. Not sure what is going on here. • switching between one and two displays in visual studio

  Most of the time I work Visual Studio with two monitors. I setup my Visual Studio to sit nicely across both monitors with code on the one side and property windows etc. on the other. However, occasionally I need to remove into my work station from home where I only have one monitor. What ends up happening is I have to re-setup my entire workspace to be used on one monitor, and when I get back to my work station I have to undo this again to get to my optimal 2 monitor environment. Is there a way to save some set layouts in Visual Studio so I could quickly switch back and forward? Example: One Monitor Layout versus Two Monito Layout?

  Hi Alls, I would like to build a small python script that basicaly does the reverse of grep. I want to match the files in a directory/subdirectory that doesn't have a "searched_string". So far i've done that: import os filefilter = ['java','.jsp'] path= "/home/patate/code/project" for path, subdirs, files in os.walk(path): for name in files: if name[-4:] in filefilter : print os.path.join(path, name) This small script will be listing everyfiles with "java" or "jsp" extension inside each subdirectory, and will output them full path. I'm now wondering how to do the rest, for example i would like to be able if I forgot a session management entry in one file (allowing anyone a direct file access), to search for : "if (!user.hasPermission" and list the file which does not contain this string.   I'm trying to implement an input method service that receives intents sent by a remote client, and in response to those sends an appropriate KeyEvent. The events is sent to the parent activity behind the Dialog. Is there any way to send keys and control the device like using the hardware keys from an input method?

• How do you render a rails partial that is outside of a namespace in a view that is inside of a namespace?

  I've got a 'static' controller and static views that are pages that don't utilize ruby in their views. For these pages, I have a sitemap partial that is generated programatically and used in the application layout file. Namespaced routes still use the application layout file but are taking the static routes and trying to namespace them too. Here's the relevant portion of the route file: namespace :admin do resources :verse_categories resources :verses resources :songs resources :flowers resources :visits, :except => [:new, :create] end match ':action' => 'static' root :to => 'static#home' Here's the error I'm getting: No route matches {:controller=>"admin/static", :action=>"about"} Note that about is one of the static pages that the sitemap partial uses. So, how can I resolve this routing issue so that it's not trying to find my static sites inside of the admin namespace? Any help would be appreciated!

  Hi, Ive got two activities in the same application. the first one is with gui(main activity) the second one is a listener which works infinite without gui. Wierd problem occurs: i am running the second activity with a diffrent thread so i could keep on manipulate the gui.. but for some reason, the gui losing it's focus for some reason, only when i press 'home' and come back to it, then i can continune maniuplate the gui. it feels like after i launch the second activity, the gui activity(the main) is losing the focus. how come? in my mainactivity i have: setContentView(R.layout.main); and its setted as the launcher in the manifest. thanks, ray.

  A rather strange question: I'm often asking myself with what programming languages things were created. I recently found this toy mini computer I played with when I was 13 or so at home. (Note: It is not one of those toy "notebooks", it's really small and came as an extra with a magazine) "Features": Hadware: LCD with a small field of pixels where the games were going on, besides that some stats such as score, highscore etc. Sounds and horrible music when started A really small "keyboard" with a wire Software: At least 14 or so games, from Snake over Tetris and Breakdown to some abomination of a car racing game A calculator Game selecting menu An alarm clock Inside there is a really small circuit board, I don't want to open the thing up now, though. Can you imagine if the games and "Operating System" of this thing where actually programmed using a language? If yes, what language could it be? If not with a programming language, how else was it created?
