• USB hub keep changing ports

  I have an external powered USB hub and I'm using gammu to send some SMSs, but every time the daemon connect to one specific modem, it has the port changed. Gammu is able to send just one SMS and after that the port is changed. I've already tried using: /dev/ttyUSB3 /dev/serial/by-path/pci-0000:00:0b.0-usb-0:3.4.3:1.0-port0 There is anything to do which will stop the ports to be changed or use any other fixed port? Thanks.

But in fact, if I take an image and compress it [gzipping it], and then I compare the compressed one to the uncompressed one, there is a difference in size, even though not such a dramatic difference. The question is: is it worth gzipping images? the content size flushed down to the client's browser will be smaller, but there will be some client overhead when de-gzipping it. Please advise.

So, I need a way to remove the updates that have been installed since 30th of may 12 for example (or any other date).   Using unity 11.04. I have a secondary monitor (actually two, one at home, one at work). The home twin monitor set up works perfect (Viewsonic monitor). At work, I get very buggy behaviour, such as full screen applications 'ghosting' when maximized, and other strange effects.   I exported a virtual machine from my work station, and I am trying to renew the ip-address at home. I put one copy on my laptop and one copy on my PC. I've done this sudo rm /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and changed the MAC address, but they keep coming back as 192.168.1.165. I need them to be different because I need to run two of these exports at the same time, so I cannot afford to have the same IP. What can I do? Thanks.

  I had been using an external monitor, an old Dell Inc. 19" with Ubuntu 14.04 for a while now, The resolution it displayed at was something like 1366x768 or 1366x1024, I can't remember exactly which one it was. However, one day when I restarted my computer, I can no longer get that resolution on the external display, and can now display a max resolution of 1024x768. Does anyone know why this might happen all of a sudden? I think it was after running a system update.

I've migrated most of the content from the old Sun wiki site, and got the download in a single handy location on OTN. Download JET now.  The version available is the current latest, which is 4.9.4. This version contains a number of updates, the most significant of which is the ability to specify slot locations instead of the traditional cXtYdZsN nomenclature. This is pretty useful when trying to Jumpstart multiple servers with SAS2.0 based HBAs, as they will have the WWN embedded in the cXtYdZsN name, and it's pretty difficult to guess what that will be until you've booted the server. • Should I create inner class here or leave as is?

  Folks, I have two separate classes. One of them makes http requests/receives response to/from a server and the second one converts received JSON objects into my models (separate classes). I'm thinking it would be an idea to include this class for data converting as an inner class of my first class. Wouldn't my first class be extra big because of it and I need to leave everything as is or this is a good common practice to behave like that?
