• Should UNIX users have the same group

  I have a web server (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS if needed) multiple people use with Apache, PHP5, and MySQL installed. All users have access to SSH. All users home directory's are /home/USER I was wondering: What usergroup should users be in; or should they have their own usergroups()? What user and group should Apache run under? What file permissions should the users /home/USER/public_html and /home/USER directory's be, as well as subsequent files (including such PHP files w/ sensitive information such as DB passwords) Thanks :)

• SSHFS on startup CentOS 6.3

  I edited the file /etc/rc.d/rc.local and added the following lines in order to mount a remote directory through sshfs at boot time: su user -c "/usr/bin/sshfs -o idmap=user -o reconnect -o allow_other -o uid=500 -o gid=500 user@remote:/home/shares/allusers /home/user/mnt" The problem is that is not mounting the directory on startup but when I execute this command manually after logging in everything works as expected an the directory is mounted. Any suggestions?

• Use Match in sshd_config to detect SCP connection

  I use the following directive in sshd_config to detect if the user trying to login to a server is called developer, and issue a bash script to the user if that is the case: Match User developer ForceCommand /bin/dev_login However, when the user tries to upload a file using SCP, they can't, as the dev_login script is interrupting the process. Is it possible to use the Match directive to detect if the connection is SCP rather than a request to open a shell?

• Change "From" email address when sending to a specific domain.

  Hi, I would like to set up Exchange so that when a user (e.g. [email protected]) sends an email to somedomain.com Exchange makes the email appear to have come from [email protected]. This would have to be done on a per-domain basis, and invisibly to the user. So all emails come from [email protected], except emails to somedomain.com, which appear to come from [email protected]. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Cheers, RB.

• Dependency Walker reports IESHIMS.DLL and WER.DLL missing?

  On a Windows XP Professional SP3 with Internet Explorer 8 box, when I run Dependency Walker on an executable of mine it reports that: IESHIMS.DLL and WER.DLL can't be found. Do I need these DLL's? Where can I get them? I believe they are supposed to located in C:\Windows\System32\Wer.dll and C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Ieshims.dll

• Best Method to SFTP or FTPS Files via SSIS

  What is the best method using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) to upload a file to either a remote SFTP (secure FTP with SSH2 protocal) or FTPS (FTP over SSL) site? I've used the following methods, but each has short-comings I would like to avoid: COZYROC LIBRARY Method: Install the CozyRoc library on each development and production server and use the SFTP task to upload the files. Pros: Easy to use. It looks, smells, and feels like a normal SSIS task. SSIS also recognizes the password as sensitive information and allows you all the normal options for protecting the sensitive information instead of just storing it in clear text in a non-secure manner. Works well with other SSIS tasks such as ForEach Loop Containers. Errors out when uploads and downloads fail. Works well when you don't know the names of the files on the remote FTP site to download or when you won't know the name of the file to upload until run-time. Cons: Costs money to license in a production environment. Makes you dependent upon the vendor to update their libraries between each version. Although they already have a 2008 version, this caused me a problem during the CTP's of 2008. Requires installing the libraries on each development and production machine. COMMAND LINE SFTP PROGRAM Method: Install a free command-line SFTP application such as Putty and execute it either by running a batch file or operating system process task. Pros: Free, free, and free. You can be sure it is secure if you are using Putty since numerous GUI FTP clients appear to use Putty under the covers. You DEFINATELY know you are using SSH2 and not SSH. Cons: The two command-line utilities I tried (Putty and Cygwin) required storing the SFTP password in a non-secure location. I haven't found a good way to capture failures or errors when uploading files. The process doesn't look and smell like SSIS. Most of the code is encapsulated in text files instead of SSIS itself. Difficult to use if you don't know the exact name of the file you are uploading or downloading. A 3RD PARTY C# or VB.NET LIBRARY Method: Install a SFTP or FTPS library and use a Script Task that references the library to upload the files. (I've never tried this, so I'm going to guess at the pros and cons) Pros: Probably easy to capture errors. Should work well with variables, so it would probably be easy to use even when you don't know the exact name of the file you are uploading or downloading. Cons: It's a script task combined with .NET libraries. If you are using SSIS, then you probably are more comfortable with SSIS tasks then .NET code. Script tasks are also difficult to troubleshoot since they don't have the same debugging tools and features as regular .NET projects. Creates a dependency on 3rd party code that may not work between different versions of SQL Server. To be fair, it is probably MORE likely to work between different versions of SQL Server than a 3rd party SSIS task library. Another huge con -- I haven't found a free C# or VB.NET library that does this as of yet. So if anyone knows of one, then please let me know!

  I'm attempting to determine whether a user is a member of a given group using System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagment. I'm doing this inside a SharePoint WebPart in SharePoint 2007 on a 64-bit system. Project targets .NET 3.5 Impersonation is enabled in the web.config. The IIS Site in question is using an IIS App Pool with a domain user configured as the identity. I am able to instantiate a PrincipalContext as such: PrincipalContext pc = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain) Next, I try to grab a principal: using (PrincipalContext pc = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain)) { GroupPrincipal group = GroupPrincipal.FindByIdentity(pc, "MYDOMAIN\somegroup"); // snip: exception thrown by line above. } Both the above and UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity with a user SAM throw a DirectoryServicesCOMException: "Logon failure: Unknown user name or bad password" I've tried passing in a complete SAMAccountName to either FindByIdentity (in the form of MYDOMAIN\username) or just the username with no change in behavior. I've tried executing the code with other credentials using both the HostingEnvironment.Impersonate and SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges approaches and also experience the same result. I've also tried instantiating my context with the domain name in place: Principal Context pc = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, "MYDOMAIN"); This throws a PrincipalServerDownException: "The server could not be contacted." I'm working on a reasonably hardened server. I did not lock the system down so I am unsure exactly what has been done to it. If there are credentials I need to allocate to my pool identity's user or in the domain security policy in order for these to work, I can configure the domain accordingly. Are there any settings that would be preventing my code from running? Am I missing something in the code itself? Is this just not possible in a SharePoint web? EDIT: Given further testing, my code functions correctly when tested in a Console application targeting .NET 4.0.   Hi.. I've experienced something today while I'm building my app. I've added a protocol in my object and assign delegate object on it. I added the protocol on the object that will implement the protocol's method. I've added it in this way as usual @interface MyObject : UIViewController <NameOfDelegate> But the Xcode says that my the protocol declaration cannot be found. I've check my code but I've declared this protocol. I've try to assign MyObject as delegate of other Object. I've edit my code like this @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,NameOfDelegate> but Xcode say again that it cannot found declaration of protocol of NameOfDelegate. I've tried to delete the NameOfDelegate on my code and add assign MyObject as delegate of other object and it goes like this. @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,UITabBarDelegate> No errors have been found. Then I've tried again to add again my NameOfDelegate in the code @interface MyObject : UIViewController <UITableViewDelegate,UITabBarDelegate,NameOfDelegate> At that time Xcode did not find any error on my code. • Machine learning challenge: diagnosing program in java/groovy (datamining, machine learning)

  Hi All! I'm planning to develop program in Java which will provide diagnosis. The data set is divided into two parts one for training and the other for testing. My program should learn to classify from the training data (BTW which contain answer for 30 questions each in new column, each record in new line the last column will be diagnosis 0 or 1, in the testing part of data diagnosis column will be empty - data set contain about 1000 records) and then make predictions in testing part of data :/ I've never done anything similar so I'll appreciate any advice or information about solution to similar problem. I was thinking about Java Machine Learning Library or Java Data Mining Package but I'm not sure if it's right direction... ? and I'm still not sure how to tackle this challenge... Please advise. • any real MVC library in PHP (for GUI apps)

  I'm wondering if there are any abstraction frameworks for one of the PHP gui libraries. We have PHP-GTK, a PHP/Tk interface, and seemingly also PHP-QT. (Not tried any.) I know that writing against the raw Gtk+ interface in Python is just bearable, and it therefore seems not very enticing for PHP. I assume it's the same for Qt, and Tk is pretty low-level too. So I'm looking for something that provides a nicer object structure atop any of the three. Primarily TreeViews are always a chore and php-gtk callbacks are weird in PHP, so I'd like a simplification for that. If it eases adding the GUI/View atop my business logic without much control code, that might already help. And so since GUI apps are an area where MVC or MVP would actually make sense, I'd like to know if any library for that exists. Btw, recently rediscovered PHP interface preprocessor, but that's rather low-level and just provides a simple widget/interface abstraction for Gtk/ncurses/pdf/xhtml output.

• django modelformset - one form per related table row

  Hello, I have two models: class Model1(): name = CharField() url = CharField() class Model2(): model1 = ForeignKey(Model1) user = ForeignKey(User) zzz = CharField() There are 5 rows for model1 in the database, these are fixed and will rarely change. I need to display a formset for model2 that allows users to enter the zzz value, the formset must always show one form per row in the model1 table, the label for each form in the formset must be the name of the related model1. If the user deletes a model2 in the formset the next time the page loads it will render an empty zzz value for that form and the user must be able to edit the previous zzz value - meaning it must be pre populated with all model2 rows associated with the user. The idea is to print each row in the model1 table as a form instead of the user selecting the related model1 name in a select box. I know its not that complicated, but I'm seriously stumped and keep going round in circles!! Many thanks in advance.   We have been using HAProxy along with heartbeat from the Linux-HA project. We are using two linux instances to provide a failover. Each server has with their own public IP and a single IP which is shared between the two using a virtual interface (eth1:1) at IP: 69.59.196.211 The virtual interface (eth1:1) IP 69.59.196.211 is configured as the gateway for the windows servers behind them and we use ip_forwarding to route traffic. We are experiencing an occasional network outage on one of our windows servers behind our linux gateways. HAProxy will detect the server is offline which we can verify by remoting to the failed server and attempting to ping the gateway: Pinging 69.59.196.211 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 69.59.196.220: Destination host unreachable. Swapping network cards and switches I noticed the link light on the port of the switch for the failed windows server was running at 100Mb instead of 1Gb on the failed interface. I moved the cable to several other open ports and the link indicated 100Mb for each port that I tried. I also swapped the cable with the same result. I tried changing the properties of the network card in windows and the server locked up and required a hard reset after clicking apply. This windows server has two physical network interfaces so I have swapped the cables and network settings on the two interfaces to see if the problem follows the interface. If the public interface goes down again we will know that it is not an issue with the network card. (We also tried another switch we have on hand, no change) Changing network hardware driver versions We've had the same problem with the latest Broadcom driver, as well as the built-in driver that ships in Windows Server 2008 R2. Replacing network cables As a last ditch effort we remembered another change that occurred was the replacement of all of the patch cords between our servers / switch. We had purchased two sets, one green of lengths 1ft - 3ft for the private interfaces and another set of red cables for the public interfaces. We swapped out all of the public interface patch cables with a different brand and ran our servers without issue for a full week ... aaaaaand then the problem recurred. Disable checksum offload, remove TProxy We also tried disabling TCP/IP checksum offload in the driver, no change. We're now pulling out TProxy and moving to a more traditional x-forwarded-for network arrangement without any fancy IP address rewriting. We'll see if that helps.

  Hello everyone I just read the new User fql table fields at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/fql/user As I can see a lot of the fields have been deprecated such as work_history or books and movies. It is quite essential for my app to get all those fields for my user's friends in a single fql query. If i am not wrong the only way to do this is to get those extra fields using the Graph API by requesting them seperately for every friend of my user. Is there any way to do it in a more efficient way without so many calls? Can I subscribe to real time updates for the request fields for my user's friends (i do not care about the logged in user data)? Thank you a lot

  Hello. I want to list messages that received specific user from other users group by ID's and ordered by last message received. If I use this query: SELECT MAX(id), fromid, toid, message FROM pro_messages WHERE toid=00003 GROUP BY fromid I do not get last message sent from user "fromid" to user "toid" but the first message sent. Can I do that in some other way or I need to do it with two queries or join tables? id - message id fromid - id of user who sent message toid - id of user who receive message (in this case user 00003)

  An alternative title might be: Check for existence of multiple rows? Using a combination of SQL and C# I want a method to return true if all products in a list exist in a table. If it can be done in all in SQL that would be preferable. I have written a method that returns whether a single productID exists using the following SQL: SELECT productID FROM Products WHERE ProductID = @productID If this returns a row, then the c# method returns true, false otherwise. Now I'm wondering if I have a list of product IDs (not a huge list mind you, normally under 20). How can I write a query that will return a row if all the product id's exist and no row if one or more product id's does not exist? (Maybe something involving "IN" like: SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ProductID IN (1, 10, 100))

  What is the difference between the two lines of code below: CComPtr< IInterface > m_interface; IInterface* m_interface; I know that CComPtr help eliminate memory leaks, but I am getting inconsistent results. When declaring the pointer with CComPtr< IInterface > m_interface; and using the interface in my C# code there are no errors, however using the Interface in VC++ I get an unhandled exception error, even if I comment out the instance creation of IInterface. I am pretty sure the problem is in here somewhere: STDMETHODIMP CSomeClass::get_IClass(IClass** var) { return m_class_var->QueryInterface(var); } STDMETHODIMP CSomeClass::putref_IClass(IClass* var) { m_class_var = var; return S_OK; } When I declare the interface pointer with: IInterface* m_interface; I get a RPC_E_SERVERFAULT error when testing the Interface in C# and have to explicitly call GC.Collect() to avoid the error being thrown after instantiation of a few objects. When testing the Interface in VC++ the error is consistent however when it occurs is different. If I comment out the instance creation of IInterface the code runs fine, however when I try to create an instance I get same error as before, just a vague unhandled exception error. What am I doing wrong here?
