  • script running very slow in IE with Jquery quickflip plug-in

    - by Aaron Carlino
    I have a jQuery plugin running on my site that is executing very, very slowly in IE7/8 to the point that it throws a slow script warning to the user. It doesn't happen in any other browser, and I can't figure out what might be going on. If you go to this page: http://dev.xeetic.org/projects You'll see that there are 16 results on each page, and each one has a "flip" behavior attached, using the jQuery plugin "quickflip." Attaching this behavior is very slow in IE. If I reduce the result set to 8 or 4 per page, it's faster, but still very bogged down. I have contacted the author of the script with no success. I am willing to pay for a solution, if I'm allowed to offer such a thing on this site.

  • Prior jQuery UI Dialogs become nonresponsive after opening a new Dialog

    - by Euwyn
    I'm having issues with multiple jQuery dialogs. The first one opens fine - is resizable, draggable, etc. However, when I open a second the first becomes unresponsive to dragging/moving/closing, even after the second one is closed. What is the reason for this and how can it be fixed? According to the jQuery documentation this should work fine (since stacking is supported).

  • Works in firefox but not IE8

    - by creocare
    This is working fine in firefox but only closes the first page and then breaks in IE8. Firebug in IE8 says that x.item(o) is null. I can't figure out why this works in firefox but not IE. Thanks for any help. pager(x=document.getElementsByName("pg1")); function pager( x ) { var curr = document.getElementById('showing'); $(curr).fadeOut('fast'); curr.id = 'hide'; $(x).fadeIn('slow'); x.item(0).id ='showing'; }

  • passing json from servlet to dojo

    - by Moev4
    I am currently trying to pass a generated JSON string to dojo for parsing and am having some issues. The servlet simply writes it as a string as so: response.getWriter().append("{ \"data\": {"); response.getWriter().append("\"type\": \"facing\","); response.getWriter().append("\"score\": " + "\"" + score + "\","); response.getWriter().append("\"count\":" + "\"" + count + "\"" ); response.getWriter().append("}}"); which prints as: {"data":{"type":"facing","score":"10","count":"24"}} And the parsing on the dojo end looks as so: dojo.xhrPost({ url: url, handleAs: "json", load: function(data) { alert(data); /* Parse Not working */ alert(data.data[0].type); }, error: function(error) { alert("No dice") } }); The main issue is the data.data[0].type is returning nothing but when i print this out as text the json seems to be correctly formatted. Any help with this would be appreciated.

  • What is better: CSS hacks or browser detection?

    - by Darryl Hein
    Commonly when I look around the Internet, I find that people are generally using CSS hacks to make their website look the same in all browsers. Personally, I have found this to be quite time consuming to find all of these hacks and test them; each change you make you have to test in 4+ browsers to make sure it didn't break anything else. About a year ago, I looked around the Internet for what other major sites are using (Yahoo, Google, BBC, etc) and found that most of them are doing some form of browser detection (JS, HTML if statements, server based). I have started doing this as well. On almost all of the sites I have worked on recently, I use jQuery, so I use the built in browser detection. Is there a reason you use or don't use either of these?

  • IE innerHTML chops sentence if the last word contains '&' (ampersand)

    - by Mandai
    I am trying to populate a DOM element with ID 'myElement'. The content which I'm populating is a mix of text and HTML elements. Assume following is the content I wish to populate in my DOM element. var x = "<b>Success</b> is a matter of hard work &luck"; I tried using innerHTML as follows, document.getElementById("myElement").innerHTML=x; This resulted in chopping off of the last word in my sentence. Apparently, the problem is due to the '&' character present in the last word. I played around with the '&' and innerHTML and following are my observations. If the last word of the content is less than 10 characters and if it has a '&' character present in it, innerHTML chops off the sentence at '&'. This problem does not happen in firefox. If I use innerText the last word is in tact but then all the HTML tags which are part of the content becomes plain text. I tried populating through jQuery's #html method, $("#myElement").html(x); This approach solves the problem in IE but not in chrome. How can I insert a HTML content with a last word containing '&' without it being chopped off in all browsers?

  • jQuery scrollTop() doesn't seem to work in Safari or Chrome (Windows)

    - by Pointy
    I've got a simple setup to allow a "help"-style window to be loaded and scrolled to a particular point on the page. More or less the code looks like this: var target = /* code */; target.offsetParent().scrollTop(target.offset().top - fudgeValue); The target of the scroll and the fudge value are determined by a couple of hints dropped on the page, and I'm having no problems with that part of this mechanism anywhere. In Firefox and IE8, the above code works exactly like I want: the scrolled box (in this case, the page body) correctly scrolls the contained stuff to the right point in the window when it's told to do so. In Chrome and Safari, however, the call to scrollTop() apparently does nothing at all. All the numbers are OK, and the target refers to the right thing (and the offsetParent() is indeed the body element), but nothing at all happens. As far as I can tell from googling around, this is supposed to work. Is there something funny about the renderer under Safari and Chrome? This is jQuery 1.3.2 if that matters. • How to make radio button options dependent on other radio button choices using Mootools?

    - by Mike Crittenden
    I have a form where there are 6 items, each of which can be ranked from 1-6 in order of importance. Here's a screenshot. Basically, I need to set it up so that if one item gets a ranking of 3 (for example), then "3" becomes disabled for all the other items. Therefore, the user should only be able to select a number that hasn't already been selected for each item (so we can ensure that the items really will be ranked 1-6 and no numbers will be repeated for different items). Here's the markup I'm working with (minus the presentational divs): <label for="importantProductQuality">Product Quality</label> <input id="importantProductQuality_0" name="importantProductQuality" • jQuery Tooltip positioning issues

    - by Nimbuz
    HTML: <a href="#" rel="tooltip-1">Open Tooltip</a> <div id="tooltip-1">Tooltip Content</div> jQuery: xOffset = $('#tooltip-1').height() + 10; yOffset = -30 ; $("a[rel=tooltip-1]").hover(function(e){ this.t = this.attr("href"); $("body").append("<p id='tooltip'>"+ this.t +"</p>"); $("#tooltip") .css("top",(e.pageY - xOffset) + "px") .css("left",(e.pageX + yOffset) + "px") .fadeIn("fast"); }, function(){ this.t = ""; $("#tooltip").remove(); }); $("a[rel=tooltip-1]").mousemove(function(e){ $("#tooltip-1") .css("top",(e.pageY - xOffset) + "px") .css("left",(e.pageX + yOffset) + "px"); }); Two Issues: Tooltip div (#tooltip-1) doesn't hide on mouseout. Since the tooltip div will always have the same ID as REL, I'd like to modify the above jQuery so that it takes target DIV ID automatically. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Setting an instanced class property overwrites the property in all instances.

    - by Peter Moore
    I have two instances of a class. Setting a property in the first instance will set it for the second instance too. Why? It shouldn't. The property is not a "prototype property". Check the code below, what happens to Peter Griffin? Two objects are created and given the name "Peter Griffin" and "Roger Moore" but the alert boxes will say "Peter Moore" and "Roger Moore". What happened to Peter Griffin? var BaseClass = function(){ this.name = ""; this.data = {}; this.data.lastname = ""; } var ExtendedClass = function(){ this.setName = function(fname, lname){ this.name = fname; this.data.lastname = lname; } this.hello = function(){ alert("Full name: " + this.name + " " + this.data.lastname); } } ExtendedClass.prototype = new BaseClass(); pilot = new ExtendedClass(); driver = new ExtendedClass(); pilot.setName("Peter", "Griffin"); driver.setName("Roger", "Moore"); pilot.hello(); // Full name: Peter Moore driver.hello(); // Full name: Roger Moore

  • How do I manipulate a jqGrid's search/filters?

    - by AaronSieb
    I have a jqGrid with a navBar that has search: true and multipleSearch: true. I would like to add a button to my UI that automatically adds an additional rule to the search. I've tried manipulating the postData for the filter directly, but values added this way don't show up in the search UI. I've also tried accessing the search box directly using jQuery, like this: $('#fbox_list').searchFilter().add(); $('#fbox_list .sf .data input').each(function(index) { alert($(this).val()); }); But, in addition to feeling hackish, it only works if the user has already clicked on the search button (the fbox_list div is not constructed on load). Has anyone else dealt with an issue like this?

I just need the links within to work as well. NOTE: They work if you right click and choose "Open in new tab".
