  • simple photo viewer

    Hi, I am fairly new to all this. I am trying to make a simple photo viewer with javascript or anything easy to alter. I just want a next and prev. button to take you between photos. Click next and next photo shows. Just that simple. I have a flash version but I would like to avoid using flash. I've been doing it the long way by making multiple pages, one for each photo and a button that repeats. I know there must be a better way but I just can't seem to figure it out. Please help

  • Compile C++ program on Mac to run on Linux

    I have an application that I wrote in C++/SDL, using FMOD library. The app is portable and compiles without any code change on Mac and on Linux. But one annoyance is that when I want to ship Linux version, I have to run my Linux box, copy the source code over there (over USB drive, because I have no network there, it's an old laptop) and compile it, then copy it again over USB to my Mac and upload it. My question is - is there a better way of doing it? Ideally, could I compile the app to run on Linux directly from Xcode, where I compile it for Mac?

  • How to store or share live data between PHP Requests?

    Hi, I want to start a project for facebook and the application will be like real-time multiplayer chess game. The problem I'm having is I have no idea how to store the data when a player moves one piece and update the new position in player2 browser. I'm gonna use PHP, MySQL for server side and jQuery for Client Rendering. The simplest idea is to store the data in XML or MySQL and re-generate the result to player2 browser. But I know that when thousand of players are playing, it will not be an efficient way. Since I don't have time to study new language for this project, I'm gonna have to stick with PHP. I'm not going to use flash either because I want my client side light-weight and flash-free. So is there any way that will solve my problems?

  • System.UnauthorizedAccessException from Serial Port in VB.NET

    I am using VB.NET 2008 Express Edition to access Serial Port which is a USB to Serial port. Since this is removable, the app user can disconnect it at any time in app. I am getting an unhandled exception when I remove the USB Serial Port. After research, it seems like a known problem in .NET (even in 3.5) I am looking for some solution to get this done. '/photos', 'post', $args); print_r($data); This code is in a function.php file that gets called when a user clicks on a button inside of a flash file that is embedded on my canvas, so basically what I want it to do is, when the flash takes a screen shot and passes the variable "image" to the function, it should upload $_GET['image'] to the album.     Below is an example of a question given on my last test in a Computer Engineering course. Anyone mind explaining to me how to get the start/end addresses of each? I have listed the correct answers at the bottom... The MSP430F2410 device has an address space of 64 KB (the basic MSP430 architecture). Fill in the table below if we know the following. The first 16 bytes of the address space (starting at the address 0x0000) is reserved for special function registers (IE1, IE2, IFG1, IFG2, etc.), the next 240 bytes is reserved for 8-bit peripheral devices, and the next 256 bytes is reserved for 16-bit peripheral devices. The RAM memory capacity is 2 Kbytes and it starts at the address 0x1100. At the top of the address space is 56KB of flash memory reserved for code and interrupt vector table.   • Flex 3: Possible to add a Context Menu to a ItemRenderer inside a DataGrid?

    I have an ItemRenderer that is shared by several applications (inside a DataGrid), and I would like to add a context menu to it (rather than in each application). The renderer is derived from the Canvas class, and the code to create the context menu looks something like: var menuItem:ContextMenuItem = new ContextMenuItem("Test"); menuItem.addEventListener(ContextMenuEvent.MENU_ITEM_SELECT, contextCallback); var customContextMenu:ContextMenu = new ContextMenu(); customContextMenu.hideBuiltInItems(); //hide flash menu customContextMenu.customItems.push(menuItem); this.contextMenu = customContextMenu; However, when I right click on the cell in the datagrid, I get the default Flash Context Menu. Is this not possible?

(Web Sites) I know about the existence of tools such as Eclipse+plugins and Flash Develop for the coding but I am most concerned about the graphics part. Is there any tool out there to create SWFs with all the graphics for animate with AS3 later?     Anyone know of any Flash components that would do the job of displaying an external PPT/PPTX file in a Flash movie on a web page? Or a way of automatically parsing uploaded Powerpoint docs from a PHP-based CMS and displaying them on a web page. Our client needs to be able to upload a Powerpoint documents on their site without any intervention (if necessary). I know about Slideshare and the like, but the content needs to live on the client's web server due to security restrictions. Also, Adobe Presenter seems to require Adobe software/plugins on the clients machine which wouldn't be ideal. Thanks in advance

  • pdf file download

    Once a member signs up a form they can download the pdf file. Currently, the pdf file is link with HTML which means that anyone with the url can download it. What's the best way to encrypt a page so that the user don't see the url to a pdf file. I tried creating a flash file and link the URL from flash using the following: var myPDF = new URLRequest("temp/test.pdf"); navigateToURL(myPDF); but it opens a new window and show's the URL !!! is there a way to make the browse forcefully download the file instead of opening in on a new browser.   • Garbage collection - manually wiping EVERYTHING!

    I have been building a game for a while (nearly done) - But the game needs a replay button and its a big task. I know the GC is dreadful in flash, but I wanted to know if there is a way to wipe EVERYTHING as if the flash app has just begun. Clearing memory, game data - I haven't to worry about game loading as its not really heavy on data. Everything pretty much lives in a DataModel - but I fear if I just clear the all variables, I'll have pockets of orphaned memory. Any forwarding idea would be great. cheers guys.

    I am using Win32_PointingDevice class to detect mice connected to the system. I ran my device discovery script on a machine which has touch screen. The discovery shows up with 3 pointing devices, directly connected USB mouse, wireless mouse and touch screen. My question is how to distinguish between USB mouse with touch screen. If Win32_PointingDevice class doesn't provide information then are there any other methods which I can use to get mouse and touch information.   • Space bar and arrow keys on Radio buttons trigger TypeError: Error #1009

    I've just discovered a bug in my app, it looks like a Flash player bug, i would like to know if anyone has found a workaround or something. I've some radio buttons groups in my app. If I press the arrow keys while holding the spacebar pressed, it ends up triggering TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at fl.controls::LabelButton/drawIcon() at fl.controls::LabelButton/draw() at fl.controls::RadioButton/draw() at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher() If found this thread that describes my same situation. Do you think there's any workaround for this? Is it really a flash bug?

Our transatlantic project conference calls are getting confusing due to the various terms people use to describe the ASP.NET piece. Indeed, ASP.NET has its' own project terminology including 'Web Site' and 'Web Application' to both of which one can add a 'Web Service'. Is there any commonly-used name for this ASP.NET multi-purpose project piece?

I need that when I have no ID in the DB to show "ERROR". I have also tried to use rescue ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound but same happens. All help is appreciated.

    I'm using Flash Builder 4 (the version after Flex Builder 3, so very similar to Flex Builder 3) and have a bunch of actionscript classes that I frequently need to reference. I have them in a separate folder/package to keep things clean. I know that it's possible to create a SWC from these actionscript files. My question is how do I do it in Flash Builder 4 or Flex Builder 3. Do I need other tools? My objective is just to use the SWC in the project and keep things clean instead of dragging around all these files.

  • Why many "normal" string in my flashlog file

    I suddenly find that there are many "normal" trace in my file flashlog.txt (supposed at your Window's location:{SysDrive}:\Documents and Settings{yourName}\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\Logs). normal normal normal normal normal normal 1/10/2011 15:32:13.008 [INFO] org.spicefactory.parsley.core.view.impl.DefaultViewManager Add view root: null/flash.display::Stage normal normal normal But when I run the application with the FlashBuilder, the logging in the consul page is ok, it doesn't include any "normal" String. I am very confused by this, I thought that the output of the flashlog.txt file should be the same as that of the consul of FlashBuilder.And I don't think I have added such a stupid trace in my code. The question is how can I find out where these "normal" trace come from and how to remove it. This problem is resolved by restarting the computer as suggested.

  • Is loading a video in a browser multithreaded?

    It's hard to know what is multithreaded in a browser and what isn't. It seems while a video streams or progressively downloads, it does not affect page performance, so my guess it is. Note I'm using Flash video, but it's really about video in general. Any other tips on what else is multithreaded (image loads?) is also helpful. I know JavaScript is not, and I thought Flash wasn't but I heard somewhere that it may be (or it could be done), but I think they were not well informed.

From what I understand, these two "extensions" of JavaScript are just small scripts that enable extended functionality. But, what exactly are there? I mean, Adobe is a company that created Flash. If you want information about Flash, the official source is at Adobe. Is there an equivalent for AJAX and jQuery? I don't want to learn AJAX or jQuery form some shmo that doesn't know that correct syntax. I want to learn proper syntax and best practices.

    I'm attempting to read a property on a series of Sprites. This property may or may not be present on these objects, and may not even be declared, worse than being null. My code is: if (child["readable"] == true){ // this Sprite is activated for reading } And so Flash shows me: Error #1069: Property selectable not found on flash.display.Sprite and there is no default value. Is there a way to test if a property exists before reading its value? Something like: if (child.isProperty("readable") && child["readable"] == true){ // this Sprite is activated for reading }

  • Portable and Secure Document Repository

    I'm trying to find a document manager/repository (WinXP) that can be used from a USB disk. I would like a tool that will allow you to add all documents into a single repository (or a secure file system). Ideally you would login to this portable application to add or retrieve a document and document shouldn't be accessible outside of the application. I have found an application called Benubird Pro (app is portable) that allows you to add files to a single repository, but downsides are that it is not secure and the repository is always stored on the PC and not on the USB disk. Are you able to recommend any other applications? Thanks

  • Android-iPhone single codebase

    Is there a way, apart from using HTML and JavaScript on a web control, to have an (almost) single codebase for an application that should run on iOS and Android? The big issue is of course that they use a different language (Java for Android, Objective-C for iOS) for application development. It would be nice to have some sort of meta-language that will be translated in Java and in Objective-C. What about Flash? Adobe wasn't supposed to release a tool to create flash-based apps in iOS?
