• Wordpress: Problem installing on dedicated windows server 2008/IIS7

  I'm having trouble with installing Wordpress on a dedicated Microsoft Windows Web Server 2008 R2. I've installed Wordpress Version 2.9.2 from Web platform installer 3.0. After installation when I try to access wordpress, either from ~/index.php or ~/wp-admin/install.php I get the error: HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error File monitoring is enabled for a file which could not be found Modul: FastCgiModule Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler Handler: PHP52_via_FastCGI Error Code: 0x80070003 I have both .Net 2.0 and .Net 4.0 installed. Adding a "phpinfo.php" gives me the same error. The application pool in IIS7 that's used for the website is: "No Managed Code" and set to "Integrated" in "Managed Pipeline Mode". I've tried to reboot the machine. What's more can I try?

• Lots of TIME_WAIT connections in netstat (Windows Server 2008)

  I'm having some issues on a Windows 2008 server with some network connections not going through. For instance, in a web application on the server, we need to open a socket connection to another server, and this fails sometimes with the following message: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted I looked up the error, which led me to this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa560610(v=bts.20).aspx, which indicates that it might be TCP/IP port exhaustion. When I perform netstat -n, I get tons of TIME_WAIT connections on port 80. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

• lsass.exe memory leak on windows 2003 server

  In the past month or so I noticed that lsass.exe has started to leak memory, getting to 500MB+ of ram in under a week after reboot. Before this I had never noticed it using any significant amount of memory compared to other processes on the system. This is happening on 2 identical servers, neither of which has anything to do with Active Directory. Maybe a recent Windows Update has caused this? Any thoughts on things to check? As a side question is there some way to recycle the memory usage of lsass.exe without rebooting? Edit: Here is what I'm seeing in Process Monitor, there are thousands of registry open/query/close a minute from lsass.exe. How can I track down what is triggering these?

• Improper output in SSH session on OSX using FreeSSHd on Windows with cygwin bash/sh shell

  I am testing out running an SSH server on a local Windows VM. I have installed FreeSSHd and set the command shell to "c:\cygwin\bin\sh --login -i" (bash as well) with "Use new console engine" unchecked. • Setting up Windows 2008 with VPN and NAT

  I have a Windows 2008 box set up with VPN, and that works quite well. NPS is used to validate the VPN clients, who are able to access the private address of the server, once connected. I can't for the life of me get NAT working for the VPN clients, though. I've added NAT as a routing protocol, and set the one on in the VPN address pool as private, and the other as public - but it still won't NAT connections when I add a route through the VPN server's IP on the client side (route add SomeInternetIp IpOfPrivateInterfaceOnServer). I know I can reach the server's private interface (which happens to be 10.2.2.1) with remote desktop client, so I can't think of any issues with the VPN.

And i get this error (Zend Framework GData): Unable to find the socket transport "ssl" - enter code here did you forget to enable it when you configured PHP? So what i did. I went to php.ini and i uncomented the line extension=php_openssl.dll I also installed Win32 OpenSSL. But nothing works. What sould i do?

• How to enable "Sleep" for Windows 2012 server

  I recently installed Windows Server 2012. This will serve as the dev-instance for our engineers and will be accessed in multiple time zones. I therefore plan to run this 24x7 but want to conserve energy by going to sleep mode when not in use & enable Wake-On-Magic-Packet. Based on the previous post it appears that there is no option to sleep Win Server 2012 with Hyper-V. Since I don't care much about virtualization now, I uninstalled Hyper-V. In addition to this, I have done the following 1) Ran powercfg -a. Don't find sleep. 2) Added [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hvboot] "Start"=dword:00000003 to try gaining sleep - no luck! 3) Only see Shutdown and Restart in power options. • Install Oracle Drive and TNS for Windows XP?

  I am building a box with Windows XP with some applications. One application requires connection to an Oracle database on remote. I have installed OracleXEClient.exe from Oracle download. The installation does install "Oracle Provider for OLE DB" driver. My problem is that I still cannot make connections to the remote Oracle db. The test I have done is to create a UDL file with Oracle provider OLE DB connection. The error message is: --------------------------- Microsoft Data Link Error --------------------------- Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified I think I may miss TNSNAMEC.ora in the box. I can find this file from another box where Oracle connection works fine. I am not sure what package I should install (from Oracle) so that the default TNSNAEMES.ora will be installed with related files and setup path for accessing the TNS file?

• Forcing DFS replication on Windows 2003 Web Edition SP2

  I have a pair of web servers running Windows Server 2003 Web Edition SP2 (build 3790). There servers are a on a Gigabit LAN and are on the same subnet. I created a new link on the 1st server and added the second box as a target to the link. I configured replication as ring. The 2nd server gets some of the files on the scheduled replication but this varies wildly which makes me think it's not running fully. The folder on server 1 is 1.3GB. Is there some way I can force repication (from a console?) and monitor the progress and see if/when/why it fails.

I recently got to install Windows 7 and had yet to find out that the Siemens software suite doesn't install anymore. - Which is a pain... There is actually a feature which allows me to do that. But it only allows 1 post at a time. And every time I go to this screen, it always fetches the blog post from wordpress again.   Just assembled a new machine: MSI 880GM-E41 motherboard 500GB Samsung hard drive AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor 4GB RAM Windows 7 64 Bit LITE-ON Black 4X Blu-ray reader I boot up, start the install. When it gets to the screen to select what partition, the motherboard loses power. It doesnt make sense, I can leave it in the bios settings for a very long time and it doesnt lose power. When it does lose power, the monitor shuts down and the mouse loses power, but the power light stays on. I cannot tell if it is a harware or software problem.

  Normally I develop under E_ALL error level, but for sanity on this project I want notices and strict off. So initially tried: error_reporting(E_ALL & ~(E_STRICT|E_NOTICE)); And several other combinations of the same thing, nothing worked. Next I tried to create a local php.ini the directory with error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE but nope, that didn't work either. phpinfo() is reporting: Scan this dir for additional .ini files: (none) Can someone help me fix either of these problems? Preferably both! Thanks! I'm running PHP Version 5.2.13 on Apache/2.2.14 under Windows 7 x64.

  Hi, A friend has managed to set up their new Windows 7 Home Premium Dell Inspiron and forgot the password they have used. I have tried the following password reset software to no avail: UBCD OHPCrack Offline NT Password & Registry Editor *Trinity Kon Boot I have also tried to do a system restore but this asks for the password. The user does not have any data they need to save. Is there anyway I can get access to the restore partition using Linux to create a recovery disk or do I have to purchase a recovery disk from Dell? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  I need to configure windows NLB on 2 dedicated servers I have. My main machine has been running for some time, with several domain names pointing to the servers primary IP address. Both servers have 2 NIC's installed, and both have several secondary public IP addresses available if needed? What IP address would I use for the cluster IP, does this IP need to be added to the IP list of both public NIC's ip address list? What IP addresses do I use for the host's dedicated IP?   I have a small domain of users that I just migrated from a linux domain running open-ldap. Our new servers are running Windows 2008 Standard. I've installed Active Directory and everything is working perfectly... except that the initial user privileges is pretty restrictive and I need to loosen it up a bit. For example once they login to their workstations, they can create new files and folders but can not modify existing files or start. I basically want to open it all up except for software installations. Can someone please help with with this migration headache?

• Windows 7 Audio tracks messed up

  I'm not an audio guy so it might not be the most articulate description of the problem I'm having but it seems like ever since I went to Windows 7 some video (netflix and some youtube) the background track (music sound effects etc) plays appropriately but the foreground track (i.e. the actors and/or narrator) barely comes in at all Right now I have just a simple set of PC speakers and some times a pair of headphones that plug into the PC speakers (no fancy 5.1) I've looked at every setting I can think of but I can't find anything that could be causing this Ive uninstalled the driver and reinstalled and I still get the same results so I think its a software issue any ideas?

• Windows Server 2008 Task Scheduler Tasks Not Executing

  I've been having an intermittent problem for some time now with the Windows Task Scheduler that I can't work out. I use the task scheduler to run a C# app I've written that has various plugins used to ensure production systems are working. This task scheduler itself is actually a production system so I have one simple task that executes every 8 minutes to notify an external monitoring system that the task scheduler is still up. If this external service fails to receive an "all-clear" at least once every 15 minutes (or so I don't remember the exact number right now) it will message us that the monitoring system is down. In the past we've had intermittent "down" messages from time to time and each time I've investigated the cause I was unable to find any problems. So this time I wanted to ask the StackOverflow community since it doesn't look like I'll have luck on my own. This morning at 2:32 AM the task fired (exactly 8 minutes after the previous firing) however the task didn't fire again until 3:28. There are no errors that I can see in the Event Viewer at this time. When I look at the Task Scheduler log there are no errors there either. I also have two other C# apps that run and check something each hour on the hour using task scheduler. If I look at the history for those I can see that they didn't execute at 3 AM either! They all waited until 3:28 to start as well. If I look at "tasks completed" in the Event Viewer it shows that only one task was able to run between the 2:32 AM to 3:28 AM time period. • Viewing CHM Files Across The Network in Windows 7

  When I try to open .chm help from a network shared drive I receive the following error: Navigation to the webpage was canceled. I know about the .reg solution described on KB896054 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions] "MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001 but it does not work in Windows 7. Any ideas how to make .chm help available from the network drives? Edit: I have the network path mapped to P: drive letter. My program runs from P: and I want to see the help for it. Copying the program to local drive is not a solution for me.

• Flash Player in Windows 7 X64 problems

  I'm having a lot of problems with flash player in my win 7 X64 laptop, in YouTube the videos are completely black, you can only hear the sound and in Vimeo the videos are played well in normal size but completely black in fullscreen. Also some days ago YouTube played normal size videos but with controls not visible. I'm sure that the problem isn't the browser since this happen in Chrome, Firefox and IE 8. My laptop is a Dell XPS L501X, the flash version is 10,2,152,26 and the OS is Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1. I'll appreciate any help.

• Proper application shutdown before windows xp auto shutdown

  I frequently leave the computer on playing a movie or downloading a file while I go to bed. I do use the 'shutdown computer when finished' feature of KMPlayer or getright or uTorrent or whatever program I am using. This method effectively shuts down the computer, but the problem is that there are some applications that seem to exit forcefully when doing this kind of shutdown, this being clearly reflected in winamp not saving the current playlist and config, messenger not saving the chat logs, etc. My goal here would be to have automatically close properly all applications when the auto/scheduled program triggers it. I am looking for some Windows shutdown mode/setting that does application closing like the user would do. I am not expecting to auto-click on save dialogs prompts, if this is needed I will do it before leaving the computer on for auto shutdown.

I can't rebuild index with Thinking Sphinx rake task after application server starting up even if I stop it: Stopped search daemon (pid 4492). ... bla bla bla ... total 3 reads, 0.000 sec, 1.3 kb/call avg, 0.0 msec/call avg total 9 writes, 0.000 sec, 1.2 kb/call avg, 0.0 msec/call avg WARNING: could not open pipe (GetLastError()=2) rake aborted! searchd is already running. If I reload system, I can rebuild index. What do you think about? p.s: Does this question suited for serverfault.com?

• Windows 8 Start Screen very slow after Guest Additions

  I installed Windows 8 Release Preview on a VirtualBox VM, and it worked correctly. Then I installed the Guest Additions to get the correct resolutions. Now, the Start screen is very slow, takes a long time to scroll and doesn't respond well to clicks. I believe it's not my host, as it's a good machine (i7 CPU, 6 GB of RAM) and this specifically starts to happen after installing the Guest Additions. The task manager doesn't show anything wrong (i.e. no processes pegging the CPU). Any suggestions?

• Windows 7: blue faces in VLC... sometimes

  Hi There are a bunch of forum posts about this issue from the last several years but no resolution that I could find. I have the newest VLC installed on Windows 7 with the newest nvidia drivers. Suddenly, VLC plays some videos in such a way as faces are blue. When viewed in another media player, or when looking at the thumbnails, this is not an issue. Other videos are not affected. I've tried resetting VLC options, deleting the VLC folder in the AppData area, etc. I have no other color issues. Does anyone have a fix?
