  • What is the easiest way to generate a Valid x:Name?

    - by just in case
    I am generating some Xaml based on some other source of input. In some cases I am generating x:Name values but they have invalid characters. I found this article on MSDN: XamlName Grammar Which describes the grammar of a x:Name tag but doesn't tell me how to actually apply this. Clearly there is some code to validate this name at runtime but what is the easiest way to actually fix up a string with invalid characters?

  • how to swap array-elements to transfer the array from a column-like into a row-like representation

    - by Christian Ammer
    For example: the array a1, a2, a3, b1, b2, b3, c1, c2, c3, d1, d2, d3 represents following table a1, b1, c1, d1 a2, b2, c2, d2 a3, b3, c3, d3 now i like to bring the array into following form a1, b1, c1, d1, a2, b2, c2, d2, a3, b3, c3, d3 Does an algorithm exist, which takes the array (from the first form) and the dimensions of the table as input arguments and which transfers the array into the second form? I thougt of an algorithm which doesn't need to allocate additional memory, instead i think it should be possible to do the job with element-swap operations.

  • Google Map lng + lat to hidden field not working

    - by user547794
    Hello, I am trying to get Marker data into hidden fields on my form. I'm not sure why this isn't working, it must be something in my js syntax: var initialLocation; var siberia = new google.maps.LatLng(60, 105); var newyork = new google.maps.LatLng(40.69847032728747, -73.9514422416687); var browserSupportFlag = new Boolean(); function initialize() { var myOptions = { zoom: 6, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.HYBRID }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); myListener = google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) { placeMarker(event.latLng), google.maps.event.removeListener(myListener); }); // Try W3C Geolocation (Preferred) if(navigator.geolocation) { browserSupportFlag = true; navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(function(position) { initialLocation = new google.maps.LatLng(position.coords.latitude,position.coords.longitude); map.setCenter(initialLocation); }, function() { handleNoGeolocation(browserSupportFlag); }); // Try Google Gears Geolocation } else if (google.gears) { browserSupportFlag = true; var geo = google.gears.factory.create('beta.geolocation'); geo.getCurrentPosition(function(position) { initialLocation = new google.maps.LatLng(position.latitude,position.longitude); map.setCenter(initialLocation); }, function() { handleNoGeoLocation(browserSupportFlag); }); // Browser doesn't support Geolocation } else { browserSupportFlag = false; handleNoGeolocation(browserSupportFlag); } function handleNoGeolocation(errorFlag) { if (errorFlag == true) { alert("Geolocation service failed."); initialLocation = newyork; } else { alert("Your browser doesn't support geolocation.   • How does one go about writing a virtual MIDI interface?

    - by Alex
    I want to do some funky things with controlling MIDI streams, and I'd like to be able to pipe MIDI input into an application like Ableton or Reason. Presumably this involves some sort of driver level work? Ultimately I'd like to write my application in Python, so if there is some Python-based solution, I'd consider it. I'm perfectly fine with using C/C++, though, so that's not a problem.

    Hi, I need to sort query results by the output of some function which takes "score" and couple other fields as an input (50% of the total score comes from similarity score and 50% comes from document's popularity). Is there a way to do this without having to install "Sort by Function" patch? Thanks!

    Is there any way to make only a non-transparent portion of an image to trigger mouse-over event? If the mouse travels to the transparent area, the mouse-out should be triggered and the script should listen for any mouse-over event on a layer underneath the image. Is it possible? Thanks for any input.

  • Javascript question

    - by Craig
    I am supposed to make this simple program. It produces a multiplication problem, and when the user types the correct answer, it is supposed to produce another question. Instead it goes into an infinite loop and never stops, the answer field and the button go away. Also, I am supposed to make the comment about the users answer, one of 4 different sayings. Without using Arrays how would I do that? My professor is no help, really getting aggravated as I have no where else to turn. <html> <title>HW 9.27 and 9.28</title> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var number1; var number2; var answer3; var answer2; function problem() { number1 = Math.floor(1 + Math.random() * 9); number2 = Math.floor(1 + Math.random() * 9); document.writeln("How much is " + number1 + " times " + number2 + " ?"); answer2 = (number1 * number2); } function answer1() { var statusDiv = document.getElementById("status"); answer3 = document.getElementById("answer").value; if (answer3 != answer2) statusDiv.innerHTML = "No. Please try again"; else if (answer3 == answer2) { statusDiv.innerHTML = "Very good!"; problem(); } } problem(); </script> </head> <body> <form> <input id="answer" type="text" /> <input type="button" value="Solve!" onclick="answer1()" /> <div id ="status">Click the Solve button to Solve the problem</div> </form> </body> </html>

  • Rails HTML editor to create forms

    - by Ignace
    Hey all, I'm looking for a HTML editor which can be (easiliy) integrated in a RoR app that has the possibility to create forms. Not forms per se, but I need the possibility to add radiobuttons, input fields, checkboxes and so on. I loved the smoothness of TinyMCE, but apparently this doesn't take me far enough. Does there exists such a gem/plugin? Thanks!

  • What tools do you use to share knowledge amongst developers in your company?

    - by Chris Ross
    I'm looking for some good tools that help to share tips, best practices, company standards, etc. amongs developers in my company. Two tools I'm currently considering are a wiki (screwturn wiki) or Sharepoint 2010. I'm wondering if there is something better suited to the task, or any input anyone has on this subject. I'd prefer something that's windows based (i.e. runs on IIS, can authenticate users against Active Directory etc) but I am open to anything.

  • Find the closest locations to a given address

    - by xtine
    I have built an application in CakePHP that lists businesses. There are about 2000 entries, and the latitude and longitude coordinates for each business is in the DB. I now am trying to tackle the search function. There will be an input box where the user can put a street address, city, or zipcode, and then I would like it to return the 11 closest businesses as found from the database. How would I go about doing this?

  • faster strlen ?

    - by Jack
    Typical strlen() traverse from first character till it finds \0. This requires you to traverse each and every character. In algorithm sense, its O(N). Is there any faster way to do this where input is vaguely defined. Like: length would be less than 50, or length would be around 200 characters. I thought of lookup blocks and all but didn't get any optimization.

  • jQuery Sales Tax

    - by CKallemeres
    Hello everyone! I have created a function (see below) that calculates a 7.5% sales tax. Now I need help doing the following: Have totalTax() take in 2 arguments one for the price and one for the tax. On submit (use the onSubmit event handler to call this function) have the function process the price and the tax by manipulating the arguments you passed in. Have the sales tax on the page update dynamically with what ever the sales tax is that you defined for the function 7.5 percent sales tax: Instead of using .innerHTML use jQuery to access these document elements and write to them: document.getElementById('requestedAmount' ).innerHTML = priceInput; document.getElementById('requestedTax' ).innerHTML = salesTax; document.getElementById('requestedTotal' ).innerHTML = totalAmount; Original Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $().ready(function() { // validate the comment form when it is submitted $("#inputForm").validate(); $("#priceInput").priceFormat({ prefix: '', limit: 5, centsLimit: 2 }); }); function totalTax(){ var priceInput = document.getElementById( 'priceInput' ).value; var salesTax = Math.round(((priceInput / 100) * 7.5)*100)/100; var totalAmount = (priceInput*1) + (salesTax * 1); document.getElementById( 'requestedAmount' ).innerHTML = priceInput; document.getElementById( 'requestedTax' ).innerHTML = salesTax; document.getElementById( 'requestedTotal' ).innerHTML = totalAmount; } </script> <body> <form class="cmxform" id="inputForm" method="get" action=""> <p> <label for="priceInput">Enter the price: </label> <input id="priceInput" name="name" class="required"/> </p> <p> <input class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit" onclick="totalTax();"/> </p> </form> <div>Entered price: <p id="requestedAmount"></p> </div> <div>7.5 percent sales tax: <p id="requestedTax"></p> </div> <div>Total: <p id="requestedTotal"> </p> </div>

  • Problem migrating membershipProvider functionality from mvc1 to mvc2

    - by Jericho
    I am migrating a web app in mvc1 to mvc2. When it came down to migrating my MembershipProvider authentication I keep getting errors that MembershipProvider and MembershipCreateStatus type cannot be found. I do have the reference to System.Web which to my understanding includes the Security reference, but when I examine the the object, those types do not appear. I am just getting familiar with mvc2, if anyone has any input on this it would be extremely appreciated.
