  • Business and data layer in ASP.NET MVC

    Hi, I am new to ASP.net MVC architecture. I have read in some articles that Model will contain business and data access logic. So does this mean that i have to implement the business and data access layrers in side model folder? And it is obviously not possible to add class libraries (business layer and Data access layer of n tier) in Model folder. SO please let me know how to design business and data layer if i dont want to include my LINQ queries in Controller. Thanks, Amith

  • Share the same subnet between Internal network and VPN Clients

    I would like to set up a configuration where VPN clients connecting to my Forefront TMG can access all the resources of my Internal network without having the to use the option "Use default gateway on remote network" on the VPN's TCP/IP Ipv4 Advanced Settings. This is important to me, since they can use their own internet while accessing my network through VPN (the security implications of this are acceptable on my cenario) My Internal network runs on 10.50.75.x, and I set up Forefront TMG to relay the DHCP of my Internal network to the VPN clients, so they get IPs from the same range as the Internal network. This setup initially works, and the VPN clients use their own internet, and can access anything that is on the internal network. However, after a while, HTTP Proxy Traffic from the Internal network starts getting routed to the IP of the RRAS Dial In Interface, instead of the IP of the Internal's network gateway. When this happens, the HTTP Proxy starts getting denied for obvious reasons. My first question is: does this happen because Forefront TMG wasn't designed to handle a cenario that I described above, and it "loses itself"? My second question is: Is there any way to solve this problem, either through configuration or firewall policies? My third question is: If there's no way that it can work with the cenario above, is there another cenario that will solve my problem, and do what I'd like it to do properly? Below are my network routes: 1 => Local Host Access => Route => Local Host => All Networks 2 => VPN Clients to Internal Network => Route => VPN Clients => Internal 3 => Internet Access => NAT => Internal, Perimeter, VPN Clients => External 4 => Internal to Perimeter => Route => Internal, VPN Clients => Perimeter Tks!

  • Share PC over network

    I have a server installed on one local Win7 machine (say as 192.168.2.14:8080/myAPP) and I want to access that server from different computer (say ip as 192.168.2.16). Even they are connected to same network I can't access server from other computer. I guess the problem is in firewall. This is working when I disable firewall and not working when I allow certain ports in windows firewall but keeping firewall on (As a rule to allow incoming connections).

  • Change default root user with a new one on Ubuntu Server

    I have a VPS, until now I used the default root user for SSH access and everything. For security reasons I'd like to use a different user for root, terminal access and sudo operations. So I created another user, gave him the sudo and every other perm. The problem is that all the system files belongs to root. What happens if I set PermitRootLogin No for root? Those files wouldn't be editable by the new root user!

In project MC9S12XDP512 microcontroller is connected with MPC860 mp through one connector, means we can have facility to access any registers from microntroller to microprocesser and vice versa by use of IMMR or CPM feathers. But i dont know how to use that to access resisters in MPC860. But i wish to use one gpio of MC9S12XDP512 microntroller in MPC860 code ( in C langanuge) to do some other operations.   • iPhone: Run method from another view

    I have two views that I am loading, the first is a view with an MKMapView, the second has a table view. I would like to access a method in the first views controller, from the second view. I have been told to use the delegate for this, but I can't get it right. In my app delegate, I have set up added properties for the class of my first view. Then, in my second view, I try to access the first view using the delegate: MyAppDelegate *mainDelegate = (MyAppDelegate*) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Then try: [mainDelegate.mapViewControllerClass myMethodToRun]; It seems to me that it should be calling the myMethodToRun method, which is in my map view. But, it does not work. What is wrong with what I am doing here? There must be a way to access a method of another view...

  • Losing scope for DataContex using LINQToSQL intermediately

    I am having a weird Situation with my DataConext. All My code is in C# I have a DLL project for my data access layer and business Layer which and Winforms project for my UI layer. My Data access Layer's Namespace is xxx.Data this is where have my xxx.dbml I also have xxx.Data.BusinessObjects name space of course for my business object in that project In my UI Layer I have these namespaces xxxApp(for Forms), xxxApp.Controls (For Controls) I have lost scope of the DataContext, it was accessible now when I do a Rebuild Solution I sometimes get compile errors saying for example: Error 34 'xxx.Data.xxxDataContext' does not contain a definition for 'SubmitChanges' and no extension method 'SubmitChanges' accepting a first argument of type 'xxx.Data.xxxDataContext' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Also intelisense doesn't recognize the methods and table classes from my xxxDataContext anymore I can access all object fine when I am in the DLL project but now in the Winforms project this is very strange. If anyone can help me out I would be extremely grateful!

  • Database permissions and ORMs

    I've been using .NET's Entity Framework a lot lately and have absolutely no wish to go back to using Stored Procedures. Been shocked though that the company I'm building this project for had a policy where applications were only given accounts that only had permissions to access stored procedures! Apparently, they believe that there's a security risk involved in allowing applications to access the tables/views directly. I don't get this. My first question is, can someone enlighten me as to what kind of security risk applications having direct access to the database may pose? AND If that's the case, are there any other ORM solutions that can provide a workaround to this (I can't think of any logical possibility atm) that would allow me to circumvent the restrictions on the user account to be assigned to me? OR is my understanding that I'd need direct permissions for the tables and views wrong?

  • Logformat for catching asked hostname in a *.domain.com scenario?

    I have an Apache 2.2 VirtualHost with a *.domain.com Servername. This is required for my scenario, all subdomains are handled with the same site. Now, in the access log, I am trying to figure out a logformat variable (or way) that will let me log the asked for domain name. If I use the vhost_combined format, all I get in my access log is *.domain.com entries, not the actual vhost that was asked for. Anyone know how to do this?

Now I want to open a particular port (say 80) for an instance running in account A, to account B. ie, I want to only allow account B instances, to access account A's 80 port. The basic situation is the following (relationsships): Route (1)<->(CN) Training (1)<->(CN) Kilometer The DataContext is set to a Training. From here I use the Convert-Method to access all my Kilometers. I also have a Converter from Route to IList<Training> and the ConvertBack would lookup the Route for a Training.     so i have a class ClassA that contains an enum MyEnum, and a class ClassB that references that class (different Projects) and so in ClassB i have a using ClassA; clause and i can access that enum using something like MyEnum value = MyEnum.EnumValue; Now on a third project i have my Windows form and it has a clause like using ClassB; Now what can i add in ClassB to acess that enum on my windows Form? Is it even Possible? i would like to avoid having to add ClassA to my form just to access an enum. The idea is that ClassB is sort of a manager between my form and the functionality in ClassA - but i would like to get access to that enum as it makes a lot of tasks easier

  • Why one loop is performing better than other memory wise as well as performance wise?

    I have following two loops in C#, and I am running these loops for a collection with 10,000 records being downloaded with paging using "yield return" First foreach(var k in collection) { repo.Save(k); } Second var collectionEnum = collection.GetEnumerator(); while (collectionEnum.MoveNext()) { var k = collectionEnum.Current; repo.Save(k); k = null; } Seems like that the second loop consumes less memory and it faster than the first loop. Memory I understand may be because of k being set to null(Even though I am not sure). But how come it is faster than for each. The article explained what was wrong with the code but I would like to know what it means to say that "It allowed any local user to get root access". I am not an expert in C but can someone give me an exact context in which this exploit would work? Specifically, what I mean is, lets say I am the local user, how would I get root access if we assume this code to be present somewhere?

  • How do you manage web navigation info in your application?

    I’m building an application where different users will have different menu items available to them depending on what they’ve paid for. There will also be multiple levels to the menu hierarchy. What’s the best approach to this problem? I’m assuming I need a database table that represents the menu hierarchy, including the parent-child relationships of the nodes in the navigation as well as the sorting of the items. Then another table which I use to manage whether a user is authorized to access a particular item in that table. When I render the view, I’d reference the menus, and the access rights of the user to output the menu, and I’d also need a function to check that same authorization from each controller in case a user manually types in a URL of a controller they’re not supposed to have access to. Is this the right approach? Any suggestions for caching this to prevent the constant look-ups of this type of info? I’m open to any suggestions on how you may have approached this type of requirement.
