• NSOperationQueue bug with dependencies

  I am using NSOperation and NSOperationQueue for performing a sequence of operations, all dependent on each other (2 on 1, 3 on 2, etc...). I set the dependency after I create the operations. I am encountering problems when the queue completes: the program crashes in the _release part of the code, apparently when the NSOperations are getting released. Note that they all get released at the end by the queue, because it is only after the very last one which depends on the second last one, which depends on etc... that they can be released. If I remove any dependency, the code runs fine. If I change waitUntilFinished: to NO, it crashes, if it is YES, it does not. I have isolated the problem to the following code which does not use any of my custom classes. NSOperation by default is a class that does absolutely nothing. Yet, this still crashes when all operations have completed. Therefore, it appears I am not using NSOperationQueue properly but can't see what is wrong. I am running on 10.9 and I have noticed that in general Maverick 10.9 is much more sensitive to these issues than 10.8. queue, this makes no difference. Apparently, with dependencies, this code is a problem with XCode 5.0, 32-bit. Edit: In fact, I can isolate the problem much further. An empty Cocoa Application project in XCOde 5.0 on 10.9 with ARC on and a single method will crash. • Previously working emberjs1.0-pre form on jsfiddle returns "error": "Please use POST request"

That allows us to use arbitrary view methods as action handlers. The existing issue is that the input to the form, only displays on the console and not on jsfiddle result section, though no error displays on the result section, there is a new error appearing in the console of the updated fiddle: Uncaught Error: Cannot perform operations on a Metamorph that is not in the DOM. Finally solved I needed to comment out App.initialize() for it to work as expected. This the working fiddle ** http://jsfiddle.net/ACzaJ/20/. I don't know why that is so, but my guess is that, App.initialize works with other parts like the router for routing, ApplicationController and ApplicationView with {{outlet}} in the handlebars, which i didn't need for this fiddle. Finally Finally and completely solved This ** http://jsfiddle.net/tQWn8/ works with App.initialize. But you have to declare all those components above and pass the router to App.initialize, like this App..initialize(router). If you don't do this, then you will get the old error Uncaught Error: Cannot perform operations on a Metamorph that is not in the DOM.

• Pass data from one form to another on a seperate page

  I am building a price/distance calculator with Google Maps API and am trying to pass the info from the calculator to a booking form on a separate page. My first form has 2 submit buttons - one to make the calculation, and one to submit the relevant data to the booking form. I'm stuck trying to make the 2nd button work. Once the API calculation has been made, I get 4 values - From, To, Cost, Distance. I am trying to pass the From, To and Cost values into my booking form by clicking the second button. But I can;t seem to get it to work. I've tried POST and GET but I think I may have been doing something wrong with both. Any help is appreciated.   Hi, I am trying to duplicate a feature that exists in Multimate (Ashton Tate) word processor. Yes, the one that hasnt been supported for 20 years! If I can duplicate this one feature I can get all the users off MM and onto Word. The thing that MM does really easily is that there is a function key that they can press at any time that will - - jump the cursor from the paragraph they are writing over to the right hand side - create a numeric field - allow them to enter a number into the numeric field - return them to the left hand side to start a new paragraph What MM also does is automatically total the numeric fields on each page and create a subtotal in the page footer. it also creates a total for the entire document and puts this in the footer of the last page. I would like to duplicate this feature in word with a macro, but have no idea where to start. Any suggestions or code would be great, thanks, will.

• Can a function return an object? Objective-C and NSMutableArray

  I have an NSMutableArray. It's members eventually become members of an array instance in a class. I want to put the instantiantion of NSMutable into a function and to return an array object. If I can do this, I can make some of my code easier to read. Is this possible? • Slowdowns when reading from an urlconnection's inputstream (even with byte[] and buffers)

  Ok so after spending two days trying to figure out the problem, and reading about dizillion articles, i finally decided to man up and ask to for some advice(my first time here). Now to the issue at hand - I am writing a program which will parse api data from a game, namely battle logs. There will be A LOT of entries in the database(20+ million) and so the parsing speed for each battle log page matters quite a bit. The pages to be parsed look like this: http://api.erepublik.com/v1/feeds/battle_logs/10000/0. (see source code if using chrome, it doesnt display the page right). It has 1000 hit entries, followed by a little battle info(lastpage will have <1000 obviously). On average, a page contains 175000 characters, UTF-8 encoding, xml format(v 1.0). Program will run locally on a good PC, memory is virtually unlimited(so that creating byte[250000] is quite ok). The format never changes, which is quite convenient. My second try was to replace the code between A and B with: Iterator it = IOUtils.lineIterator(is, "UTF-8"); Same result, except this time A-B was 0ms, and B-C was 1000ms, so then every call to it.next() must have been consuming some significant time.(IOUtils is from apache-commons-io library). And here is the culprit - the time taken to parse the stream to string, be it by an iterator or BufferedReader in ALL cases was about 1000ms, while the rest of the code took 0ms(e.g. irrelevant). This means that parsing the stream to LinkedList, or iterating over it, for some reason was eating up a lot of my system resources. question was - why? Is it just the way java is made...no...thats just stupid, so I did another experiment. And guess what - the 2 parser methods above (convertToXML() and convertBattlePagetoXMLWithoutDOM(), when passed 'is2' instead of 'is' took, in all 4 cases, under 50ms to complete. Obviously it can be instantiated so as to not create HttpClient and properties every time(faster network time), but the stream issue wont be affected by that. So we come to the center problem - why does the initial URLConnection InputStream(or HttpClient InputStream) take so long to process, while any stream of same size and content created locally is orders of magnitude faster? I mean, the initial response is already somewhere in RAM, and I cant see any good reasong why it is processed so slowly compared to when a same stream is just created from a byte[]. Considering I have to parse million of entries and thousands of pages like that, a total processing time of almost 1.5s/page seems WAY WAY too long. Any ideas? P.S. Please ask in any more code is required - the only thing I do after parsing is make a PreparedStatement and put the entries into JavaDB in packs of 1000+, and the perfomance is ok ~ 200ms/1000entries, prb could be optimized with more cache but I didnt look into it much.

the user got the possibility to change the values of the transaction attributes with comboboxes. Ok now to my problem. If I click on the "Laden" button the application will load about 150 entries in the ObservableCollection<Transaction>. Before I fill the collection I set the ItemsSource of the ListView to null and after filling I bind the collection to the ItemsSource once again. The loading itself takes a few milliseconds, but the rendering of the filled collection takes a long time (150 entries = about 20 sec). I tested to delete all Comboboxes out of the xaml and i got a better performance, because I don't have to fill the ComboBoxes for each row. But I need to have these comboboxes for modifing the attributes of the Transaction. Does anybody know how to improve the performance? THX

  I am working on a school assignment that requires me to be able to pick up a tile, drag it to a location, then drop it there. I was able to get this working using TransferHandler and a bunch of stuff from the dnd package, but this is not an acceptable way to perform this action for this assignment according to the professor. So, I am trying to achieve the same effect using the MouseListener interface. The basic setup is this: I have a JPanel-derived class called LocationView that contains JLabel-dervived instances of TileView. I need to get events that give me the LocationView that has the mouse pressed on and the LocationView that has the mouse released on. I am proxying mouse events through the TileView to its containing LocationView so that I can properly handle the mousePressed event. I added System.out.println()'s to the mouse listeners for mousePressed and mouseReleased to both LocationView and TileView so that I could observe the events that were being generated. To my surprise, pressing the mouse on Tile A in Location A, then dragging to Location B and releasing would generate a mouse released event for both Tile A and Location A, but not for Location B. I need the mouse released event triggered for only Location B. To try to work around this, I tried implementing a glass pane based off of the FinalGlassPane found at http://weblogs.java.net/blog/2006/09/20/well-behaved-glasspane. After adding the glass pane and adding an event listener for it, I can see that the mouse events are indeed filtering through the glass pane, but the mouse released event is still only being called on the item the mouse was clicked on. Is there a way to have mousePressed and mouseReleased events associated with the same drag action be called on separate components?

• Windows-1251 file inside UTF-8 site?

  Hello everyone Masters Of Web Delevopment :) I have a piece of PHP script that fetches last 10 played songs from my winamp. This script is inside file (lets call it "lastplayed.php") which is included in my site with php include function inside a "div". My site is on UTF-8 encoding. The problem is that some songs titles are in Windows-1251 encoding. And in my site they displays like "??????"... Is there any known way to tell to this div with included "lastplayed.php" in it, to be with windows-1251 encoding? Or any other suggestions? P.S: The file with fetching script a.k.a. "lastplayed.php", is converted to UTF-8. But if it is ANCII it's the same result. I try to put and meta tag with windows-1251 between head tag but nothing happens again. • JavaFx 2.1, 2.2 TableView update issue

  My application uses JPA read data into TableView then modify and display them. The table refreshed modified record under JavaFx 2.0.3. Under JavaFx 2.1, 2.2, the table wouldn't refresh the update anymore. I found other people have similar issue. My plan was to continue using 2.0.3 until someone fixes the issue under 2.1 and 2.2. Now I know it is not a bug and wouldn't be fixed. Well, I don't know how to deal with this. Following are codes are modified from sample demo to show the issue. If I add a new record or delete a old record from table, table refreshes fine. If I modify a record, the table wouldn't refreshes the change until a add, delete or sort action is taken. If I remove the modified record and add it again, table refreshes. But the modified record is put at button of table. Well, if I remove the modified record, add the same record then move the record to the original spot, the table wouldn't refresh anymore.
