  • How to create or save a PDF with printing/editing restrictions without using Adobe?

    I saved a Powerpoint as a pdf in Office 2007 but I don't see any options to add print restrictions or edit restrictions to it. I don't have Adobe either, so I'm wondering if there is any alternative way to add restrictions to a pdf. I know there are tools to remove document restrictions, but can they do they opposite? Is there any freeware or websites available that can add restrictions to my pdf I created? I found a website that looked promising but it didn't end up working (The upload didn't work).

    Possible Duplicate: Property Name and need its value Hi, This one should be easy for most people. I'd like to access a normal variable in an object (let's say example) by using a variable value. E.g.: I have a an array with a list of variable names and I want to get the information from the object by using them. Obviously this is wrong: string[] variable_names = new string[] {"name", "surname"}; myObject.variable_names[0] = 1; myObject.variable_names[1] = 1; In other languages (not C#) I use: myObject[variable_names[0]] = 1; I know the example looks stupid but it was just a way of explaining it. To make it work for real the code would need to look like the following... (note the literal path to myCode.message) // JavaScript JSON var myCode = { message : "Hello World", helloWorld : function() { alert(myCode.message); } }; myCode.helloWorld(); My question is... if I declare functions using json in this way, is there some "relative" way to get access to myCode.message or is it only possible to do so using the literal namespace path myCode.message?

    Hi there, Im trying to ask the user to enter the number of columns and rows they want in a matrix, and then enter the values in the matrix...Im going to let them insert numbers one row at a time. How can I create such function ? #include<stdio.h> main(){ int mat[10][10],i,j; for(i=0;i<2;i++) for(j=0;j<2;j++){ scanf("%d",&mat[i][j]); } for(i=0;i<2;i++) for(j=0;j<2;j++) printf("%d",mat[i][j]); } This works for inputting the numbers, but it displays them all in one line... The issue here is that I dont know how many columns or rows the user wants, so I cant print out %d %d %d in a matrix form .. Any thoughts ? Thanks :)

    I have a class Color that holds values for the red, green, and blue channels of a color. The class constructor lets you create a new color by specifying values for the three channels. However, for convenience, I would also like to have some "premade" colors available for the programmer. For example instead of having something like DrawRectangle(new Color(1, 0, 0)); you would be able to say DrawRectangle(Color.Red); Where Color.Red is an instance of Color that lives inside the Color class. How can I declare these instances of Color inside the Color class? If there is a name for this type of technique I'd like to know it as I had no idea what search terms to use when I was looking for help online.

    I created an enum where I stored some table names. Now I have not created any instance of this enum so that no one can use it for other than read only purpose. For this enum to be accessible in outer classes as well I have to make it public which means some outer class can create its object as well. So what can i do so as to restrict its instance creation.

  • Store product data in session variable or access db every time?

    I have my database storing lots of information about products (year, name, release_date, volume, etc. etc.). I currently load all of the products once and store them in a session variable - right now there's only 8 products but the list will grow as time progresses. The reason why I did this was to (perhaps foolishly) save HDD reads every time the products page was accessed. Am I shooting myself in the foot by storing this information in the session?

  • Is it possible to access internet on smart-phone through usb (no wi-fi) using Laptop as the modem?

    One of my relatives has a nokia 5235 smartphone. It is good, but the only limitation is - there is no wifi. bluetooth & usb are the only connectivity options. His laptop has an unlimited broadband but no support for bluetooth, so basically usb is the only method by which he can connect the mobile with laptop. Now, he can do a file-transfer between these two devices, but by any chance, is there a way by which we can share the Laptop's internet connection through usb to the smart-phone? So, bascially its like this: Broadband-modem = Laptop =usb= smart-phone -(want to use internet here) Are there any software or utilities available to achieve this ?

    I have installed SQLite on my UNIX system, and am planning on accessing it from PHP. However, the database is created in the directory I initialize it in, and if a script runs in a different directory a new database is created in the same directory. Is there an option for SQLite (or the PHP wrappers) to create the databases in one location, and have those databases accessible just by name outside of that directory? Ideally, I'd like to be able to do something like $db=new SQLiteDatabase("db.test"); in any directory and have it reference the same database, if that makes sense.

    I'm diving in to iPhone development and I'm building an iPhone app that uses the Core Data framework and my first task will be to get the model setup with a few that will display it. Thus far, I have the model defined and my Managed Object Files created, but I don't have a database with any sample data. What's a quick way to create a DB that conforms to my schema? Are there any tools that can generate a sample DB using my schemas? Is there a good tool I can use to directly manipulate the data in DB for testing purposes? Thanks in advance for your help!   • Permission error while trying to access an (server) program started by a Java program.

    I am starting a server application (normally to be started from the Unix command line) by using Runtime.getRuntime().exec("path/mmserver"). My problem is now that as long as my Java program, which started that server runs, the server is correctly accessible (from command line and other programs). But when my Java program exits the sever is not accessible anymore (the process of the server is still running). I just get such a error message when trying to access the server: "Error: permission_error(flush_output(user_output),write,stream,user_output,errno(32))". The server is a blackbox for me. I am just looking for other ways to start a new process. And maybe someone has a hint why I get that permission error (even if one doesn't know what that server exactly is ... you rather won't know it).

  • How can I create a profiler GUI in WPF?

    I am looking to create a task profiler in WPF with an UI similar to the one of incredibuild. Eg, timed tasks appear as strips on their respective line. Have a look at: http://baoz.net/wp-content/2009/06/ib1.png to see what I mean. I am unsure what the best way to tackle this problem is? Should I override the Panel class creating a custom layout panel for this or might there be an existing control/library out there that can fit my needs. I have so far had a look at various charting controls but am unsure of weither they can be tweaked to achieve this behaviour or not. I am really hoping for someone who has been using WPF for a while to help me narrow down my search. It is not exactly easy to know what to google for either :)

I just wanted to show a few different uses for "this.") I wonder why to do this? To add more clarity to the source? Or is it just a waste of space?

  • Can an Oracle user get a list of its own running sessions without access to v$session?

    I have an application that runs a process and I only want one process to run at a time. Some options are: Use an object lock to prevent subsequent processes running. This would be fine, but I want the calling session to return immediately and not wait for the running session to complete. Use a custom Y/N to set whether a process is running or not. I set a "Y" flag at the start of the process and set it to "N" when it finishes or fails. Also fine but feels like I'm re-inventing the wheel and doesn't feel like the way to go. It also falls short if the running session is killed as the flag stays at "Y". Use dbms_application_info.set_module This approach seems the most robust, but if I'm to know there's an existing running process I think I need to be able to query v$session and I don't want this application to have such wide access. Any ideas?

  • Cannot access apache webserver running on home network from internet.

    I am trying to setup apache web server in my home network. I followed the instructions found at http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creating/hostmyown.html. I have a d-link dir-601 router with a cable internet connection. I am able to connect to the web server from my LAN using the url pointing to my server's ip 192.168.0.103 in the web browser. but when I am trying to browse the same with my phone on 3G network, I get a message "server cannot be found". My Public IP starts with 61.xx.xxx.xxx and my router has an IP of 192.168.0.1 Could anyone please help me in figuring out the isuue. Thanks in advance.

I have wireless in my home so i am trying to be able to use to laptop in any room without any other connections (wireless printer, wireless mouse, etc) The one issue i have is that my desktop had 2 external hard drives (USB) connected to them and i am trying to figure out the best way to treat these as external drives without having to plug them into the laptop directly. Which brought up the question: Has anybody here helped create "computer effects" (e.g. as a technical consultant) for movies/TV shows to add some pseudo-technical details to a scene?     I am trying to incarnate some sort of ad hoc WCF service. I already managed to launch it and make it call its own web methods as some other guy's methods. The issue that I am facing is instance management. I have set [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.Single)] so it now has a global instance with the same properties for all clients. But besides that I need it to call other services of its kind while listening to incoming requests from clients (similar crazy services). While debugging I noticed that the ServiceHost's constructor calls the constructor of the service class. So, I assumed it has access to the global instance of this class and I need to find a way to call methods of this instance. Please don't ask what I have been smoking, I just have to make it ad hoc.

    I have created a ContentProvider for my main Sqlite table, pretty much following NotePad example from SDK (although I am not sure whether I will ever be exposing my data to other apps). However, I need to create lots of other, non-trivial queries on that and other tables and views. A good example would be queries to extract some statistics from the base data, averages, totals etc. So what's the best place for this code in an Android project? How it should be related and connected to the Uri-based data access exposed by a Provider? Any good examples out there?
