  • How to change the Internet Explorer 10 default search engine to Google?

    When I'm browsing I always use the address bar to search, but when I do this in Internet Explorer 10, I get taken to the default search engine Bing. So I started looking in the Internet Options to see if I could change it, but I couldn't find the right option. There's no clear way to add Google from this screen and when I clicked: Find more search providers..., you get taken to IE Gallery where Google isn't even listed. So how do I change my Internet Explorer 10 search engine to Google?

  • Statically Display Excel drop-down boxes

    I'm looking to present an Excel questionnaire I have written to the board, via either paper or presentation slides. It uses a lot of drop-down boxes, and so I'm looking for any ideas on how one might go about showing the options for each response (from the drop-down boxes), without having to manually print screen a bunch of times and pasting the results into Visio. Has anyone come across a nie easy, fast method of doing this?

  • VIM: FuzzyFinderTextmate not loading properly

    I'm getting the following error when I launch :FuzzyFinderTextmate in vim: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/533753/Screen%20shot%202010-04-27%20at%2011.14.45%20AM.png It's loading the ruby file fine (from /.vim/ruby/fuzzy_file_finder.rb) And the original FuzzyFinder plugin works fine. I can't figure this one out, I've reinstalled everything twice. I'm using Mac Vim.

  • SQL 2008 Report Manager not working

    I have a SQL 2008 developer edition with SSRS and the report manager is only available from the local machine. If I try to access it from any other machine I get challenged for my domain u/name and pwd 3 times and then the screen stays blank. I have made changes to some config files (originals copied out) in order to get a 3rd party application to run but that is now uninstalled and the config files are all back to vanilla (originals copied back in) I feel its something to do with authentication but am stuck ... any suggestions welcomed Jonathan

  • Can I prevent logon wallpaper from being changed when changing Windows theme?

    Hello all; I use TweaksLogon to change the logon wallpaper on my Win7x64 Ultimate system. However if I change my windows theme, it resets the logon wallpaper back to the default. Is there any way this can be prevented so that it will keep my chosen logon wall when changing the windows theme? So I was quite surprised to learn that there was a significant amount of overlap in service references, in addition to being unable to discern which of the two was intended to be the primary service framework. Why does there seem to be a fair amount of redundancy in individual service handling between init.d and upstart? Is something else at play here that I'm missing? What is preventing upstart from completely taking over for init.d? Is there some functionality that certain daemons require which upstart does not yet have, which are preventing some services from converting? Or is it something else entirely?

    I am using the Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) to create vpn connections for my users, if it is possible how do I create a custom action that launches an executable that runs synchronously? In the help file it says Only DLLs run synchronously, meaning that Connection Manager starts the action and then waits for the function to return before continuing Is there any way around this? I have seen something similar called VPN-Q which from the screen shots appear to do just that.

  • Taking a screencast in Backtrack 4

    I'm working on a tutorial using Backtrack 4 Live USB, and I would like to take a screencast of what I'm doing (not just screenshots) So far I have tried these application with limited success: -recordmydesktop -xvidcap -wink -istanbul -vlc -vnc2flv Each time I try the resulting files are generally choppy (at best 1 frame per second) and most don't even end up with a clear view of the screen each time. If anyone has suggestions for the screencast I would greatly appreciate it.

Reducing COLUMNS environment variable is no op: (man less) But if you have a windowing system which supports TIOCGWINSZ or WIOCGETD, the window system's idea of the screen size takes precedence over the LINES and COLUMNS environment variables.     Hi I am trying to use a DVI splitter so I can use either my pc monitor or my TV which is close to the pc, Both monitors work fine if the splitter is connected after the pc has booted up, But if the pc is re booted both the monitors show a blank screen after saying there is no signal. I have been told it could be because the monitors are working on different resolutions is this the case, If so how can I cure the problem without having to keep changing the res on TV monitor

    This question seems a little bit related, but not fully (I'm not using two monitors nor full-screen mode). I'm running VMWare Player 2.5.4 on Windows XP in normal window mode. Unfortunately, if I switch to other applications, VMWare remains the front-most window. I can avoid it by clicking the other application's title bar or if it pops up a dialog, but how can I avoid VMWare's "always-on-top"-mode completely?

    I want to upgrade my computer to the new Sandy Bridge CPU's, which features integrated graphics. However, you have to choose between two types of chipsets: H67 or P67. Now since I already own a GTX 460, so is there any added value to using the integrated graphics? Would there be a way of 'disabling' my GPU when I don't need it's additional power or would the integrated graphics simply allow me to add another screen?

  • Windows 7 Remote Desktop Connection Rendering Each Frame?

    When connecting to my work computer over VPN and Remote Desktop Connection, images and videos are sent back one frame at a time, which really slows things down. I'm familiar with the "Experience" tab while connecting and the only options I have checked are "Visual styles" and "Persistent bitmap caching". Isn't it possible to work remotely that is more similar to screen sharing over Skype, where there is a lag but not every single frame has to be rendered and passed back to me one at a time? Both computers are running Windows 7 Professional.
