• Overlay WPF controls

  Hello I've written an 'auto-suggest' textbox user control in WPF. It behaves a little bit like the 'To' list in Hotmail, allowing the user to enter a list of items, offering suggestions when it is able. The main controls are a a text box, a wrap panel and a list box. The text box captures user input. The wrap panel contains the text box and shows previous entries. The list box is used to show suggestions. Most of the time, the list box is hidden. I'm using multiple instances of my control in a stack panel. My problem is that when the list box is shown, it is included in the measurement of the height of the control. This forces the following controls in the stack panel to be shifted down, as these pictures demonstrate: I've tried overriding the measurement of my control so not to include the list box, but this just results in the list box not being visible. What I want to do is make the list box overlay any subsequent controls in the stack panel, like a combo box's drop down would do. However, I really don't know how to do this. Any ideas? Thanks Sandy

• WPF: Hide grid row

  Hi All, I have a simple WPF form with a <Grid> declared on the Form. In this Grid I then have a bunch of Rows: <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" MinHeight="30" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" Name="rowToHide"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" MinHeight="30" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> So basically the row with the name "rowToHide" has a few input fields in it, and now I want to hide this row as I don't need these fields. Its simple enough to just set all items in the Row to Visibility = Hidden, but the Row still takes up space in the Grid. So need to do something like setting Height = 0 or something. But that didn't seem to work. You can think of it like this: You have a form, in there we have a drop down saying "Payment Type", and if the person selects "Cash", then hide the row containing the Card details. And it isn't an option to start the form with this hidden already. Thanks everyone!

• Very slow performance deserializing using datacontractserializer in a Silverlight Application.

  Here is the situation: Silverlight 3 Application hits an asp.net hosted WCF service to get a list of items to display in a grid. Once the list is brought down to the client it is cached in IsolatedStorage. This is done by using the DataContractSerializer to serialize all of these objects to a stream which is then zipped and then encrypted. When the application is relaunched, it first loads from the cache (reversing the process above) and the deserializes the objects using the DataContractSerializer.ReadObject() method. All of this was working wonderfully under all scenarios until recently with the entire "load from cache" path (decrypt/unzip/deserialize) taking hundreds of milliseconds at most. On some development machines but not all (all machines Windows 7) the deserialize process - that is the call to ReadObject(stream) takes several minutes an seems to lock up the entire machine BUT ONLY WHEN RUNNING IN THE DEBUGGER in VS2008. Running the Debug configuration code outside the debugger has no problem. One thing that seems to look suspicious is that when you turn on stop on Exceptions, you can see that the ReadObject() throws many, many System.FormatException's indicating that a number was not in the correct format. When I turn off "Just My Code" thousands of these get dumped to the screen. None go unhandled. These occur both on the read back from the cache AND on a deserialization at the conclusion of a web service call to get the data from the WCF Service. HOWEVER, these same exceptions occur on my laptop development machine that does not experience the slowness at all. And FWIW, my laptop is really old and my desktop is a 4 core, 6GB RAM beast. Again, no problems unless running under the debugger in VS2008. Anyone else seem this? Any thoughts? • Adding a UINavigationController as a subview of UIView

  I'm trying to display a UILabel on top of a UINavigationController. The problem is that when I add the UILabel as a subview of UIWindow it will not automatically rotate since it is not a subview of UIViewController (UIViewController automatically handles updating subviews during rotations). This is the hierarchy I was using: UIWindow UILabel UINavigationController So I was thinking I could use the following hierarchy: UIWindow UIViewController UIView UILabel UINavigationController This way the label could be displayed on top of the UINavigationController's bar while also automatically being rotated since it is a subview of UIViewController. The problem is that when I try adding a UINavigationController as a subview of a view: [myViewController.view addSubview:myNavigationController.view]; it will appear 20 pixels downwards. Which I'm guessing is because it thinks it needs to make room for the status bar. But, since the UINavigationController is being placed inside a UIView which does not overlay on top of the status bar, it is incorrectly adding an additional 20 pixels. In other words, the top of the UINavigationBar is at the screen's 40 pixel mark instead of at 20 pixels. Is there any easy way to just shift the UINavigationController and all of its elements (e.g. navigation bar, tool bar, root view controller) up 20 pixels? Or to let it know that it shouldn't compensate for a status bar? If not, I guess I would need to use my first hierarchy mentioned above and figure out how to rotate the label so it is consistent with the navigation bar's rotation. Where can I find more information on how to do this? Note: by "displaying a label on top of the navigation bar", I mean it should overlay on top of the navigation bar... it can't simply be wrapped in a bar button item and placed as one of the items of the navigation bar.

• MVVM Prism Nested Regions Can't Find Child Regions

  I have a Menu (Telerik RadMenu) that has nested regions defined in the Shell. In my modules I will register the modules menu or toolbar items with these regions. Everything works fine for the root regions, but when I try and add something to a child region, such as the File region on the Menu, I get the error "The exception message was: The region manager does not contain the FileMenuRegion region." However like I said if I change this code regionManager.Regions[RegionNames.FileMenuRegion].Add(menuItem); to this regionManager.Regions[RegionNames.MainMenuRegion].Add(menuItem); everything works fine. Below is the XAML for my menu so you can see the region names and how they are constructed. Any help would greatly be appreciated as this is bewildering and driving me crazy. • ObjectiveC builtin template system ?

  I am developing an iPhone application and I use HTML to display formatted text. I often display the same webpage, but with a different content. I would like to use a template HTML file, and then fill it with my diffent values. I wonder if ObjectiveC has a template system similar to ERB in Ruby. That would allow to do things like Template: <HTML> <HEAD> </HEAD> <BODY> <H1>{{{title}}}</H1> <P>{{{content}}}</P> </BODY> </HTML> ObjectiveC (or what it may be in an ideal world) Template* template = [[Template alloc] initWithFile:@"my_template.tpl"]; [template fillMarker:@"title" withContent:@"My Title"]; [template fillMarker:@"content" withContent:@"My text here"]; [template process]; NSString* result = [template result]; [template release]; And the result string would contain: <HTML> <HEAD> </HEAD> <BODY> <H1>My Title</H1> <P>My text here</P> </BODY> </HTML> The above example could be achieved with some text replacement, but that would be a pain to maintain. • Android: Adding extended GLSurfaceView to a Layout don't show 3d stuff

  I make a game extending the class GLSurfaceView, if I apply SetContentView directly to that class, the 3d stuff and input works great. Now I want to show some items over 3d stuff, so I create a XML with a layout and some objects, and I try to add my class manually to the layout. • ObservableCollection is not updating Multibinding in C# WPF

  I have a TreeView that creates all its items from databound ObservableCollections. I have a hierarchy of GameNode objects, each object has two ObservableCollections. One collections has EntityAttrib objects and the other have GameNode objects. You could say that the GameNode object represents folders and EntityAttrib represents files. To display both attrib and GameNodes in the same TreeView I use Multibinding. This all works fine in startup, but when I add a new GameNode somewhere in the hierarchy the TreeView is not updated. I set a breakpoint in my converter method but it's not called when adding a new GameNode. It seems that the ObservableCollection is not notifying the MultiBinding of the change. If I comment out the MultiBinding and only bind the GameNode collection it works as expected. • SPFileVersionCollection - why versions are sorted in mixed order?

  SPFileVersionCollection and SPListItemVersionCollection versioning seems inconsistent to me. Inconsistency wouldn't be a problem to me, but sort order is. SPListItemVersionCollection I can understand versioning of ListItems as they are stored in descending order: SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions.Count -> 5 SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[0].VersionId -> 1026 (2.2 latest version) SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[1].VersionId -> 1025 (2.1) SPContext.Current.ListItem.Versions[2].VersionId -> 1024 (2.0) ... [4].VersionId -> (oldest version) SPFileVersionCollection However I can't understand how version numbers are saved for a document library item: SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions.Count -> 4 SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[0].ID -> 512 (1.0 oldest one) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[1].ID -> 513 (1.1) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[2].ID -> 1025 (2.1 latest version) SPContext.Current.ListItem.File.Versions[3].ID -> 1024 (2.0 (EDIT: IsCurrentVersion = True)) They are nor in ascending order, nor descending, but something mixed. Is there any reason for SharePoint team to decide to store SPFile versions like that? And do they expect that I write my own method to get latest version or is there a builtin one for that? A note: Let me point out that SPListItem.File is not null for document library items.

• ListView setOnItemClickListener and setOnItemSelectedListener to store the Selected Item Index

  Hi all, I have read on this site that it is necessary to customize the setOnItemSelectedListener and setOnItemClickListener of a ListView if we want to know the Index of the SelectedItem (.getSelectedItemPosition()). So that is what I do but it does not stores the position of the SekectedItem, instead i have always -1... What I want to do is just to give the user a way to delete items from a list by selected and Item and Clicking a button. • Add a row to UITableView for adding new item?

  In order to provide UI for user to add new items to my table view, I would like to add a new row in my table at a specified location (last row for example) when the view is in edit mode (I have a edit button on the view's navigation bar right side). This new row will have a add button indicator on the left side and disclosure accessory arrow on the right. When the view is not in edit mode, this add row should not be displayed. I am not sure if I should overwrite: - (void)setEditing:(BOOL)editing animated:(BOOL)animated{...} where I call the UITableView's method: insertRowsAtIndexPaths:(NSArray *)indexPaths withRowAnimation: (UITableViewRowAnimation)animation to insert a new row? My understanding is that this call may add a new row into the table view. The table view's data source is from CoreData storage. Not sure this may cause inconsistent numbers of data in the data store and table view? If it is OK and I have to manage rows in the table view, how can I add left add indicator and left disclosure arrow to the new row? Another question is that if I can do it to insert a new row as Add row, should I remove it when the table view not in edit mode? Just want to know if I am on the right track.

  I've got a combobox on a winforms app with this code: comboBox1.AutoCompleteMode = AutoCompleteMode.SuggestAppend; comboBox1.AutoCompleteSource = AutoCompleteSource.ListItems; DataTable t = new DataTable(); t.Columns.Add("ID", typeof(int)); t.Columns.Add("Display", typeof(string)); for (int i = 1; i < 2000; i++) { t.Rows.Add(i, i.ToString("N0")); } comboBox1.DataSource = t; comboBox1.ValueMember = "ID"; comboBox1.DisplayMember = "Display"; I then follow these steps when the window opens: Click the combobox drop down button -- this displays the list of items and selects the text in the combobox Type '5', '1' ... i.e. I'm looking to use autocomplete to search for 515, 516, etc. You'll see that the autocomplete window now appears ON TOP of the drop down list. However if I mouse over, it's the obscured drop down window behind the autocomplete window that's receiving the mouse events, including the click. So I think I'm clicking on an autocomplete item but actually clicking on something totally random that I can't see. Is this a bug in the ComboBox? I'm using Windows 7 if that matters. Am I configuring the ComboBox wrong somehow? Note also that using the KEYBOARD uses the autocomplete drop down. So up/down arrow keys are using the front window, but the mouse is using the back window.

• Sharepoint - Passing parameters in URL to NewForm.aspx

  Any suggestions would be great. I've inherited a system and have been requested to add a context menu item to allow the ability to add a new item. I've set up the context menu with the new option and the newform.aspx to accept and pull parameters from the url for populating some fields. The context menu was created with the content editor web part and the follow JavaScript. function Custom_AddDocLibMenuItems(m, ctx) { var strAction = "window.location='http://address?para1=....'"; var strDisplayText = "Taxonomy"; var strImagePath = ""; // Add our new menu item CAMOpt(m, strDisplayText, strAction, strImagePath); // add a separator to the menu CAMSep(m); // false means that the standard menu items should also be rendered return false; } I'm having difficulties getting the proper values in order to concatenate them to the strAction string (which would be the full url of the newform.aspx. Any suggestions on how I retrieve the values of the columns for the item that the user right click to get context menu.

• TF203015 The Item $/path/file has an incompatible pending change. While trying to unshelve.

  I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Pro against Team Server 2010 and I had my project opened (apparently) as a solution from the repo, but I should've opened it as "web site". I found this out during compile, so I went to shelve my new changes and deleted the project from my local disk, then opened the project again from source (this time as web site) and now I can't unshelve my files. Is there any way to work around this? Did I blow something up? Do I need to do maintenance at the server? I found this question on SO #2332685 but I don't know what cache files he's talking about (I'm on XP :\ ) EDIT: Found this link after posting the question, sorry for the delay in researching, still didn't fix my problem Of course I can't find an error code for TF203015 anywhere, so no resolution either (hence my inclusion of the number in the title, yeah?) EDIT: I should probably mention that these files were never checked in in the first place. Does that matter? Can you shelve an unchecked item? Is that what I did wrong? EDIT: WHAP - FOUND IT!!! Use "Undo" on the items that don't exist because they show up in pending changes as checkins.

  Hi All, I'm still not sure this is the correct way to go about this, maybe not, but I'll ask anyway. I'd like to re-write wordpress (justification: because I can) albeit more simply myself in Django and I'm looking to be able to configure elements in different ways on the page. So for example I might have: Blog models A site update message model A latest comments model. Now, for each page on the site I want the user to be able to choose the order of and any items that go on it. In my thought process, this would work something like: class Page(models.Model) Slug = models.CharField(max_length=100) class PageItem(models.Model) Page = models.ForeignKey(Page) ItemType = models.CharField(max_length=100) InstanceNum = models.IntegerField() # all models have primary keys. Then, ideally, my template would loop through all the PageItems in a page which is easy enough to do. But what if my page item is a site update as opposed to a blog post? Basically, I am thinking I'd like to pull different item types back in different orders and display them using the appropriate templates. Now, I thought one way to do this would be to, in views.py, to loop through all of the objects and call the appropriate view function, return a bit of html as a string and then pipe that into the resultant template. My question is - is this the best way to go about doing things? If so, how do I do it? If not, which way should I be going? I'm pretty new to Django so I'm still learning what it can and can't do, so please bear with me. I've checked SO for dupes and don't think this has been asked before...

• Negative ItemCount in SharePoint Document Library

  What can be done about negative numbers in library item counts? ItemCount is a read-only property, what are you supposed to do when it is drastically incorrect? Earlier last week, I was doing some testing involving the copying and moving of files and folders from one document library to another. I was transfering the items from our actual document library to a sandbox "Test" library that I used to run all sorts of object model and workflow testing in before migrating to the public lists and libraries. I noticed that with files, things worked correctly, but when I copied a folder that had a file inside it (using SPFolder.CopyTo()), the item count for the test library did not actually update. Since this testing was mostly playing around, I paid it little heed. Today I was back in the test library to test a different workflow (regarding PDF conversion). While I was there, I decided to delete the folder I left last week since I didn't need it anymore. And that's when I saw the item count for the list drop to -1 in the All Site Content View. When I deleted the new PDF I had just uploaded, it then dropped to -2! I even checked with the object model... getting an instance of the library I checked the ItemCount property... lo and behold it was also -2. Is there any process which runs in the background, kinda like the one that cleans up workflow history, which will correct this kind of issue? Or is a programmer expected to keep watch for this kind of situation and come up with calculations to compensate the "count penalty", as it were?

• Update text in StatusBar in wpf using C#

  hello, I have a TextBox in StatusBar in wpf which i want to update. I have a list of files in ListBox. On each file I would be doing some operation by calling say method ProcessFile(). So whenever the file processing is completed I want to show that file's name in the StatusBar text. I have tried something like this: private void button_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { statusBar.Visibility = Visibility.Visible; DispatcherFrame frame = new DispatcherFrame(); Dispatcher.CurrentDispatcher.BeginInvoke(DispatcherPriority.Background, new DispatcherOperationCallback(TimeConsumingMethod), frame); Dispatcher.PushFrame(frame); statusBar.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed; } public object TimeConsumingMethod(Object arg) { ((DispatcherFrame)arg).Continue = false; foreach (string fileName in destinationFilesList.Items) { txtStatus.Text = fileName.ToString(); //Assume that each process takes some time to complete System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000); } return null; } But i can only see the last file's name in the StatusBar.   Hi, The Three20 is great library. It's making the work with tables very easy. But one gap that I noticed - is deletion of rows, with animation. I spent many hours trying to do this, and this is what I'm doing: // get current index patch UITableView* table = [super tableView]; NSIndexPath *indexPath = [table indexPathForSelectedRow]; //delete row in data source TTListDataSource * source = (TTListDataSource *)self.dataSource; [source.items removeObjectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; // delete row from the table, with animation [table deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; After this code runs the error appears: [NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0) I'm using the class inherited from the TTTableViewController. And I doesn't implement the DataSourceDelegate or TableViewDelegate because I'm using the Three20 as much as possible. • Using LibraryStacks in a ScatterView on Surface

  We're trying to figure out how to drag an item from a LibraryStack container onto a ScatterView, like how the photo viewer sample applications work. Currently, the item just flies back into the LibraryStack after we drag it out. We can drag and drop items into other LibraryStacks or LibraryBars. • PreferenceActivity and theme not applying

  Hi all I have set the theme in the manifest file like this: android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Light" But I have a problem in the Preferences Activity, in the main preferences the theme shows ok, but if I get to a sub preference, the theme gets messy, it is not white as it should, it is all dark, and the font is black so you can't see much, and when I start clicking on any items they will get sometimes white as they should but revert to black soon after. This is only happens on 2.1, in both the real device and emulator. Tested on the emulator running 1.6 and it was working correctly. • resizing row's height in QTreeWidget/QTreeView

  Hi everyone, I have some problems with sizing row's height in QTreeWidget. I use QStyledItemDelegate with QPlainTextEdit. During editing text in QPlainTextEdit i check for changes with a help of: rect = self.blockBoundingRect(self.firstVisibleBlock()) and if text's height changes i resize editor size and need row in QTreeWidget also resizing. But i don't know how to inform TreeWidget or a Delegate about changes. I tried to initialize editor with index, that i could use in a future, but Delegate creates new editor every time and i failed to use signals. Also I used following function to catch resize event, but it' doesn't: bool QAbstractItemDelegate::editorEvent ( QEvent * event, QAbstractItemModel * model, const QStyleOptionViewItem & option, const QModelIndex & index ) How can i bound editor's size changes with TreeWidget? And one more thing, by default all items (cells) in TreeWidget have -1 or some big value as default width. I need whole text in cell to be visible, so how can i limit cells width only by visible range and make it expand in height? I want for it the same behavior as in instance a table in MSWord. • iPhone how to enable or disable UITabBar

  I have a simple app with a tab bar which based upon user input disables one or more of the bar items. I understand I need to use a UITabBarDelegate which I have tried to use. However when I call the delegate method I get an uncaught exception error [NSObject doesNotRecognizeSelector]. I am not sure I am doing this all right or that I haven't missed something. Any suggestions. • WPF - Binding an ObservableCollection Dependency Property within a UserControl

  I have a control class DragGrid : Grid { ... } which inherits from the original grid and enables dragging and resizing its child elements. I need to bind a custom DP named WorkItemsProperty to an observable collection of type WorkItem (implements INotifyPropertyChanged). Each element in the grid is bound to a collection item. Whenever the user adds a new item dynamically at runtime (the items cannot be declared in XAML!), or deletes an item from that collection, the WorkItems DP on the DragGrid should be updated, and the children in the grid (where each child represents a WorkItem collection item). My question is how does the DP notify the control about which child element in the grid must be removed, changed ('change' means user dragged an element, or resized it with the mouse) or added, and how would I identify which one of the existing children is the one that needs to be deleted or changed. I understand that this is where the DependencyPropertyChangedCallback comes in. But that only gets called when the DP property is set anew, not when something inside the collection changes (like add, remove item). So in the end, does the DragGrid control somehow need to subscribe to the CollectionChanged event? At what point would I hook up the event handler for that?
