• usb wifi dongle on ubuntu server, cannot install realtek driver RTL 8188cus

  I got cheap Ebay wifi dongle from HongKong, Im trying to set it up on my ubuntu server. Occasionally need to move server, so it cannot always be connected to router via lan. Anyhow, usb wifi came with a driver cd. • z-index not working in IE8 with the sortable jQuery plugin

  I'm working with the jQuery Sortable plugin to drag and drop images from one box to another box. This works fine in ff,chrome and safari but it fails in IE8. It seems that when you start dragging that the image is send to the back. I've tried to solve this by adding the z-index option to the sortable plugin, i've tried appending it to a node higher in the hierarchy (body). It appears that setting a z-index on every other item in the page would fix this, haven't tried it yet and i'm not planning on doing this because this would mess up alot. The second gives me the same error as the first... Cannot Connect to iTunes Store. iTunes link maker is not helping too, because it has no tools for iPad links...   I'm having trouble using ILMerge in my post-build after upgrading from .NET 3.5/Visual Studio 2008 to .NET 4/Visual Studio 2010. I have a Solution with several projects whose target framework is set to ".NET Framework 4". I use the following ILMerge command to merge the individual project DLLs into a single DLL: if not $(ConfigurationName) == Debug if exist "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\ILMerge\ILMerge.exe" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\ILMerge\ILMerge.exe" /lib:"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319" /lib:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies" /keyfile:"$(SolutionDir)$(SolutionName).snk" /targetplatform:v4 /out:"$(SolutionDir)bin\development\$(SolutionName).dll" "$(SolutionDir)Connection\$(OutDir)Connection.dll" ...other project DLLs... /xmldocs If I leave off specifying the location of the .NET 4 framework directory, I get an "Unresolved assembly reference not allowed: System" error from ILMerge. If I leave off specifying the location of the MSTest directory, I get an "Unresolved assembly reference not allowed: Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.UnitTestFramework" error. The ILMerge command above works and produces a DLL. When I reference that DLL in another .NET 4 C# project, however, and try to use code within it, I get the following warning: The primary reference "MyILMergedDLL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the .NET Framework assembly "mscorlib, Version=4.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" which has a higher version "4.0.65535.65535" than the version "4.0.0.0" in the current target framework. If I then remove the /targetplatform:v4 flag and try to use MyILMergedDLL.dll, I get the following error: The type 'System.Xml.Serialization.IXmlSerializable' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Xml, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. It doesn't seem like I should have to do that. Whoever uses my MyILMergedDLL.dll API should not have to add references to whatever libraries it references. How can I get around this?

  Hi there We have a small Brother Barcode printer which we like to control from a WCF Service. Brother has an API called bPAC SDK version 3 which allows to print those labels. But the problem arises, as soon as we want to print from code only without showing a windows with a button on it. As an addition, this happens only if you want to print a QR-code as barcode. Standard EAN-codes seems to work. Below is a small piece of code which outputs the stuff to a bitmap instead of the printer (debugging reasons). If this is called in Form.Show-event, it perfectly works. If this is called in Form.Load-event, it does NOT work. If this is called in a Form constructor, it does NOT work. If this is called somewhere else (without forms), it does NOT work. DocumentClass and related classes are COM-objects, so I guess the form setup/show process seems to do something which is not done without opening forms. I tried calling CoInitialize with a p/invoke, but it hadn't changed anything. Is there anyone out there willing and able to help me?   Hi all: I am trying to work out how to use Adam Shaw's brilliant jQuery plugin - FullCalendar to add an event on our project : online balloon ordering page under development Basically, if you click on "step1" and choose "pickup in shop" , the page will bring you to the calendar view, where you could click on the upper-right corner at the "week" button to alter the view to a weekly basis. What I am trying to achieve is when client clicks on an empty slot in a day, she can create her event on that spot. When I search using a wildcard, like "fuc*", the highlighter doesn't highlight anything, but when I search for the whole word, like "fuchsia", it highlights fine. • Android multiple email attachment using Intent question

  Hi, I've been working on Android program to send email with attachment (image file , audio file , etc) using Intent with (ACTION_SEND) . THe program is working when email has a single attachment. I used Intent.putExtra( android.content.Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, uri) to attach the designated image file to the mail and it is wokring fine , the mail can be delivered through Gmail . However, when I tried to have multiple images attached to the same mail by calling Intent.putExtra( android.content.Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, uri) multiple times, it failed to work. None of the attachment show up in the email . I searched the SDK documentation and Android programming user group about email attachment but cannot find any related info. However, I've discovered that there's another intent constnat ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE (available since API level 4 ) which might meet my requirement. Based on SDK documentation, it simply states that it deliver multiple data to someone else , it works like ACTION_SEND , excpet the data is multiple. But I still could not figure out the correct usage for this command. I tried to delcare intent with ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE , then call putExtra(EXTRA_STREAM, uri) multiple times to attach multiple images , but I got the same errnoenous result just like before, none of the attachment show up in the email.   In my screen, I have a drop down(select box), on selection of any of the options in that drop down , i display one or more text boxes beside the select box using javascript/css - display:none and display:block. All these input controls are in the same jsf form. Each of the input controls have their own validator. The problem is suppose the user selects from selection box and doesn't input value or inputs a wrong value for , i add a custom FacesMessage in the Validator and is shown appropriately and suppose the user selects the the second time and inputs the wrong value for the then another FacesMessage is added in the validator. But Now both the Messages are shown - means - the message for and - which is wrong My assumption is that , this happens because they exist in the same form and their instances are not destroyed yet in the FacesContext and in the UIView. I decided to delete the messages this way Iterator<FacesMessage> msgIterator = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getMessages(); while(msgIterator.hasNext()) { msgIterator.next(); msgIterator.remove(); } But this sometimes gives java.util.NoSuchElementException org.apache.myfaces.shared_impl.renderkit.html.HtmlMessagesRendererBase$MessagesIterator.next So 2 questions : 1) What is the problem in deleting the FacesMessages this way?   I am using this code for Page curl effect ....Its work fine in simulator and device... But i cant stop it in midway like map applications in ipod... Is this any fix for this? or Is there any apple documented methods used for page curl effect in ipod touch? • Want custom title / image / description in facebook share link

  Hi! I am making a flash app that demonstrates potensial traffic injuries when driving at different speeds. I want the user to be able to share this information on facebook. However this demands that i can customize the text that will appear on facebook in some manner. I am making an url that is opened in a blank window (from the flash app itself). I specify the u and t parameters, putting the generated message as the t parameter. But this seems to always be overridden by the pages title. If i omit the title tag from the html code, the file name is used (also overriding the specified title). http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http://espentokerud.com/face/addiste.html&t=test; I also tried url-encoding the url, but to no avail. http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3a%2f%2fespentokerud.com%2fface%2faddiste.html&t=test; I also tried using the addthis API, but experience the same shortcomings. The funny thing is that if i post a swf, the title and description can be customized, and it is also possible to specify a screenshot. But if i dont post a swf, this seems to be ignored. I am aware that I can use meta tags on the html page to specify the thumbnail image, title and description, but some of this content has to be based on calculations inside the flash app. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction? I am thankful for any help!

• Android -- Can't play any videos (mp4/mov/3gp/etc.)?

  Hello all, I'm having great difficulty getting my Android application to play videos from the SD card. It doesn't matter what size, bitrate, video format, or any other setting I can think of, neither the emulator nor my G1 will play anything I try to encode. I've also tried a number of videos from the web (various video formats, bitrates, with and without audio tracks, etc.), and none of those work either. All I keep getting is a dialog box that says: "Cannot play video" "Sorry, this video cannot be played." There are errors reported in LogCat, but I don't understand them and I've tried searching the Internet for further explanations without any luck. • Forcing UIInterfaceOrientation changes on iPhone

  I'm strugging with getting an iPhone application which requires just about every push or pop in the Nav Controller Stack to change orientation. Basically the first view is portrait, the second landscape the third portrait again (Yes I know this is less than ideal, but that's the design and I've got to implement it). Setting to link against 3.1.2 my reading of the linked articles above seems to indicate that if my portrait view pushes a view with - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Return YES for supported orientations return ((interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) ); } Then then that view should appear rotated to landscape. What happens is it appears in its "broken" portrait form, then rotates correctly as the device is turned. If I pop the controller back to my portrait view (which has an appropriate shouldAutoRotate...) then that remains in broken landscape view until the device is returned to portrait orientation. I've also tried removing all the shouldautorotate messages, and instead forcing rotation by transforming the view. This kind of works, and I've figured out that by moving the status bar (which is actually hidden in my application) [UIApplication sharedApplication].statusBarOrientation = UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight; the keyboard will appear with the correct orientation when desired. The problem with this approach is that the status bar transform is weird and ugly when you don't have a status bar - a shadow looms over the page with each change. So. What am I missing. 1) Am I wrong in thinking that in 3.1.2 (or possibly earlier) shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation should provide the desired orientation simply by pushing controllers ? 2) Is there another way of getting keyboards to appear in the correct orientation. 3) Are the undocumented API calls the way to go (please no!)

• What is the difference between System.Speech.Recognition and Microsoft.Speech.Recognition?

  There are two similar namespaces and assemblies for speech recognition in .NET. I’m trying to understand the differences and when it is appropriate to use one or the other. There is System.Speech.Recognition from the assembly System.Speech (in System.Speech.dll). System.Speech.dll is a core DLL in the .NET Framework class library 3.0 and later There is also Microsoft.Speech.Recognition from the assembly Microsoft.Speech (in microsoft.speech.dll). Microsoft.Speech.dll is part of the UCMA 2.0 SDK I find the docs confusing and I have the following questions: System.Speech.Recognition says it is for "The Windows Desktop Speech Technology", does this mean it cannot be used on a server OS or cannot be used for high scale applications? The UCMA 2.0 Speech SDK ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd266409%28v=office.13%29.aspx ) says that it requires Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 as a prerequisite. However, I’ve been told at conferences and meetings that if I do not require OCS features like presence and workflow I can use the UCMA 2.0 Speech API without OCS. Is this true? If I’m building a simple recognition app for a server application (say I wanted to automatically transcribe voice mails) and I don’t need features of OCS, what are the differences between the two APIs?

• Android MediaPlayer ignores it's internal volume when the system volume changes

  Hi, here is my situation: I have a media player playing music in an Android application. I've found that with certain headphones, the volume is much too loud even when the volume is set to it's lowest setting. As a result, I want to change the volume of the music for all volume levels to be 10% of what it normally is (actually, this value is user-defined of course). The following works perfectly: mediaPlayer.setVolume(0.1f, 0.1f); The volume of the music is now at a good level for listening. However, if the user now changes the volume using the volume rocker (thus changing the music stream volume), the media player changes the volume as expected, but it also seems to reset the 'setVolume' parameters to 1.0, causing a massive volume change. Setting the volume back to 0.1 sets the volume to how it should be (which is 10% of the current music stream volume). To quote the Android docs for the MediaPlayer.setVolume method: This API is recommended for balancing the output of audio streams within an application How can you do this if it gets reset to 1.0 each time the system volume changes? Any help muchly appreciated. Thanks.
