• php's strip_tags() won't work

  Hello everyone I'm trying to tweak a tiny bit a wordpress, but i am level 0 in php, so i kinda suck :/ I want to add a custom 'tweet this' button (i know there already is a gazillion of them, i just wanted to do it on my own, for fun) So, i'm trying this : <a href="http://twitter.com/home?status=<?php strip_tags(the_excerpt()) ?>" >tweet this</a> the_excerpt() returns "<p> ... excerpt ... </p>" and the strip_tags function does not strip those <p> tags ! What do i do wrong ? Thanks, and sorry if it is obvious.

  Hi Alls, I would like to build a small python script that basicaly does the reverse of grep. I want to match the files in a directory/subdirectory that doesn't have a "searched_string". So far i've done that: import os filefilter = ['java','.jsp'] path= "/home/patate/code/project" for path, subdirs, files in os.walk(path): for name in files: if name[-4:] in filefilter : print os.path.join(path, name) This small script will be listing everyfiles with "java" or "jsp" extension inside each subdirectory, and will output them full path. I'm now wondering how to do the rest, for example i would like to be able if I forgot a session management entry in one file (allowing anyone a direct file access), to search for : "if (!user.hasPermission" and list the file which does not contain this string. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks

  My day job involves coding with Perl. At home I play around with Python and Erlang. For Perl I want to indent my code with two spaces. Whereas for Python the standard is 4. Also I have some key bindings to open function declarations which I would like to use with all programming languages. How can this be achieved in gVim? As in, is there a way to maintain a configuration file for each programming language or something of that sort?

• JavaScript greybox -- slidehow won't work in FF/Safari...

I can't get it to work in FF/Safari; it works great in IE, but FF/Safari won't play ball.. orensanz.org/photos.html would very much appreciate some suggestions.. supposedly there's a google group (forum) for this thing (can't post url.. this thing limits how many urls u can include in a post, it's linked to from their home pg (url above.. oh brother..) but when you link to it you land on a pg that says they've been booted out b/c they violated google's terms of service....;-) thank you..

• Remove Validation in ASP.NET MVC 3

  I am trying to get remote validation working in ASP.NET MVC 3 but for some reason the validation never gets fired. I am returning json from the controller and in FireFox it ask me to download the files. Not sure what is going on here. • How suitable is a DVCS for the corporate environment?

  I've been using SVN for some time now, and am pretty happy with how it works (but I can't say I'm an expert, and I haven't really done much with branches and merging). However an opportunity has arisen to put in some new practises on a new team and so I thought I'd take a look at DVCSs to see if it's worth making the jump. The company I work for is a pretty standard company where we all work in the same location (or sometimes at home) and we want to keep a central store of all code. My question is: if all you are doing with a DVCS is creating a central hub that everyone pushes their changes to, is there really any benefit to moving to a DVCS and its extra overheads in this sort of environment?

• remine focus on the main activity (while switching activities)

  Hi, Ive got two activities in the same application. the first one is with gui(main activity) the second one is a listener which works infinite without gui. Wierd problem occurs: i am running the second activity with a diffrent thread so i could keep on manipulate the gui.. but for some reason, the gui losing it's focus for some reason, only when i press 'home' and come back to it, then i can continune maniuplate the gui. it feels like after i launch the second activity, the gui activity(the main) is losing the focus. how come? in my mainactivity i have: setContentView(R.layout.main); and its setted as the launcher in the manifest. thanks, ray.

I do not care, what if I want is the result which should be as close to: I send an email to [email protected], this post will add a case such as photos, then when the mail reaches the server, the server takes to process mail and copy the attached files, in this case the photos to a folder / home / public_html / photos and then, if possible notify you if it was successful or not.   I've got an unusual build error when using Buildroot to create an image for my Phidget SBC. It's unusual because it occurs ONLY on my development laptop and NOT on my general use laptop even though I am using EXACTLY the same Builroot environment as published by Phidgets themselves. When I try to create my Buildroot image I get the following error when it attempts to compile GNU classpath: Making all in tools make[2]: Entering directory `/home/xxxx/buildroot_phidgetsbc/buildroot-phidgetsbc_1.0.4.20111028/output/build/classpath-0.98/tools' /bin/mkdir -p classes asm /bin/mkdir -p ../tools/generated/gnu/classpath/tools/gjdoc/expr java -classpath antlr.Tool -o ../tools/generated/gnu/classpath/tools/gjdoc/expr/ \ ./gnu/classpath/tools/gjdoc/expr/java-expression.g Unrecognized option: -o Could not create the Java virtual machine. make[2]: *** [tools.zip] Error 1 The only difference I can possibly thing of is the different Linux (Ubuntu) versions I am using on each laptop.   I have mistyped a path and instead of c:\foo.txt wrote c:foo.txt. I expected it to either fail or to resolve to c:\foo.txt, but instead it seems to be resolved to foo.txt in a current user's home folder. Powershell returns: PS C:\> [System.IO.Path]::GetFullPath("c:\foo.txt") c:\foo.txt PS C:\> [System.IO.Path]::GetFullPath("c:foo.txt") C:\Users\Administrator\foo.txt PS C:\> [System.IO.Path]::GetFullPath("g:foo.txt") G:\foo.txt Running explorer.exe from commandline and passing it any of the above results in C:\Users\Administrator\Documents to be opened. I haven't found any documentation of that and I'm utterly confused, please explain the behaviour.

  Hello Blackberry experts, I am having a VerticalFieldManager in my application home screen code and adding many fields into it. I would like to add Radio button (which is ChoiceGroup in BB) also into the screen. For that, i am adding ChoiceGroup code lines and trying to add to vertical manager like vfm.add(mChoices), but it is giving compilation error at this place as ....ui.Manager cannot be applied to ....lcdui.ChoiceGroup. Can't i add ChoiceGroup into Vertical Manager. If i use VerticalManager and adding many fields and would like to add Radio button also into it, How do i do that? Pleaes give your advise. Thanks.

• why does the gingerbread emulator orientation gets stuck in apps?

  At first I thought this was a problem with my app, but it seems to be happening in any app (though interestingly, not the home screen) in the gingerbread emulator. To replicate my issue, open eclipse and fire up the android emulator for gingerbread (I'm using the "Google APIs - API Level 9" as my target) So the procedure to duplicate once the emulator loads is press LCtrl-F11 to shift orientation to landscape, then again to switch to portrait Result: In the homescreen: The view rotates to landscape, and then back to portrait, as expected In any app (i've tried browser, calculator, maps, and the app i'm currently working on): the view rotates to landscape, and then nothing, it stays in landscape even the emulator is displaying the phone in landscape mode (see below) http://i54.tinypic.com/2ake06v.jpg Has anyone else had this issue, or have I installed the emulator in some incorrect way - this hasn't been an issue with any of the previous emulators

  I have a class that extends the Thread class and has its run method implemented as so. public void run(){ while(!terminate){ if(paused){ Thread.yield(); }else{ accummulator++; } } } This thread is spawned from the onCreate method. When my UI is hidden (when the Home key is pressed) my onPause method will set the paused flag to true and yield the tread. However in the DDMS I still see the uTime of the thread accumulate and its state as "running". So my question is. What is the proper way to stop the thread so that it does not use up CPU time?

My question is, which of the following type of data will be garbage collected (I'm pretty sure static fields can be garbage collected any time but I'm not sure about these): i) fields that are declared final or static final ii) intent and its data that I passed from activity A to activity B iii) onSavedInstanceState when orientation is changed during the app running I ask this because I want to ensure that my app won't crash when I restore activity B from background after a long period.

• Shell_exec with git pull ?

  Hi everyone, I am setting up a github account, to work on a small project with some friends. I would like to have my home machine able to do a git pull via php, so that we just have to call this small php file for the machine to be up to date. As of right now : <?php $output = shell_exec('git help'); echo "<pre>$output</pre>"; ?> This works perfectly and I get the output, I am in the right directory, so git pull should work just as well, but I get a hanging page, no error, nothing. • How do I deal with connection strings in a Click-Once application?

  I'm thinking of building a Click-Once application, and am trying to wrap my head around how to handle the whole connection string issue. The problem is the following: I want to use EF to get data directly from each client, thus requiring each client to have a connection string configured (this is not the issue). How do I deal with clients that are not on the same domain as the SQL Server being queried? In other words, if I tried to run my app from home as opposed to from work, what should my connection string look like? Would I need to configure my SQL Server differently to allow this scenario?   I currently have 2 domain names that I want to setup different websites for. I am currently looking at using some free hosting that works well for my current needs but doesn't give me any way to point "mydomain.com" to the actual site. Instead I have to give users a longer, harder to remember url. My proposed solution is to point my domains to my home ip and host a small ASP.NET app through IIS consisting of a redirect page that simply redirects to the appropriate site. Is there a way in ASP.NET to recognize which domain url was requested in order to know where to redirect the page to?
