• Design view disappeared from Interface Builder

  All of a sudden, the visual design window disappeared from my Interface Builder. It is a regular UIView, has some UIImageView, UILabel, and UIButtons on it. When I open IB, I can see the document window (with File's Owner, First Responder and View in it), Library and Inspector, but the visual design window disappeared. Double click on "View" in the document window doesn't do anything. If I go to List mode, I can see all the components on the view, but just can no longer find the visual design window. All other XIB can open just fine, only this XIB lost its design window. First I thought maybe it was hidden somewhere on the screen. Tried all kinds of things, even rebooting the computer, but nothing helped. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance! By the way, I'm running SDK 3.2 Beta 3.

• How to zoom in google map (J2ME)

  Hi all, I am trying to develop a J2ME application that could retrieve the google map by passing in the GPS coordinates. From http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Google_Maps_API_in_Java_ME, it provides the Utility method for map scrolling. Basically it states that i need to include MicroFloat library in my project. Here's what i did (Not sure if i am doing it right) Create a project, build the code. Add the jar file into my current project lib. but i am still getting error from codes. Example double LToY(double y) { return Math.round( offset - radius * Double.longBitsToDouble(MicroDouble.log( Double.doubleToLongBits( (1 + Math.sin(Math.toRadians(y))) / (1 - Math.sin(Math.toRadians(y))) ) )) / 2); } Am i missing any import statment??? • Creating Excel Files with # in Column Name

  I'm having problem creating Excel files using Jet. When I create a table and give it a Column name as CreateTable [Sheet1] ([ColumnName#] String) It replaces the header column with ColumnName. Is there a way I can make excel give the column headers a name with out any conflict in what characters I can have in it? Are there any escape characters that I can use in the column names? Is there a cheap(~$50)/free .NET library that would give me better control over the Excel file that would allow me to create both XLS and XLSX files with out having excel installed? Basically what I'm trying to accomplish is having a DataTable get dumped into an Excel File and have the Column names appear just as they do in the in the DateTable.

  I'm writing a crawler in ruby (1.9) that consumes lots of HTML from a lot of random sites. When trying to extract links, I decided to just use .scan(/href="(.*?)"/i) instead of nokogiri/hpricot (major speedup). The problem is that I now receive a lot of "invalid byte sequence in UTF-8" errors. From what I understood, the net/http library doesn't have any encoding specific options and the stuff that comes in is basically not properly tagged. What would be the best way to actually work with that incoming data? I tried .encode with the replace and invalid options set, but no success so far...

Thanks, Mike Background information: I'm doing this because the original source code came with a VS project designed to compile as a static (.lib) library. In order to use ctypes/Python, I'm converting the project to a DLL. I started a VS project as a DLL and imported the original source code. The project builds into a DLL, but none of the functions (including functions such as the one listed above) are exported (as confirmed by both the absence of dllexport in the source code and tools such as DLL Export Viewer). I tried to follow the general advice here (create an exportable wrapper function within the header) to no avail...functions still don't appear to be exported.

  I've got a Django project on my machine and when I try to use South to migrate the data schema, I get several odd errors. • Smarty debug mode not displaying included templates.

  On www.euroworker.no/order I have set Smarty's debug mode on with {debug output=html} in the header, so it will debug every page. But it says: Smarty Debug Console included templates & config files (load time in seconds): no templates included And after a list of template variables, {$cart} Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 561962 bytes) in /home/euroworkerno/www/library/smarty/libs/plugins/modifier.debug_print_var.php on line 30 It also doesn't display a list of templates for any url.. This is strange, can anyone point me to why it won't display the lit of .tpls? I need to find some HTML comments that someone has left in to rid IE of a display bug. Thanks.

During loading my application I call method from C++ dll (Knowl.dll) through my third-party dll library (Common.dll) written in C#. After first deploy (from VS to Developing server) evrything works fine. Then I stops Developing Server, doesn't any changes in code and redeploy. Throws AccessViolationException on this imported method. What is it? On second and after redeplies - the same error. Only after deletin source code and recheckout it from CVS I can normally start server. Ie, in Sweden the output should be: 14:30:14 What is the best way? I want it to work with other RSS date formats as well if possible. Im using regexp right now but that is not very general. But I want to add ftp to a hosted site I got on the server and it's here where I get the problems with connecting. when I try to connect through the command promt I get unknown host error. I have changed the port and open it up in firewall. and even if I could connect how can I decide what folder I want to upload to?

• Generating a reasonable ctags database for Boost

  I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and I ran the command: $ ctags -R --c++-kinds=+p --fields=+iaS --extra=+q -f ~/.vim/tags/stdlibcpp /usr/include/c++/4.2.4/ to generate a ctags database for the standard C++ library and STL ( libstdc++ ) on my system for use with the OmniCppComplete vim script. This gave me a very reasonable 4MB tags file which seems to work fairly well. However, when I ran the same command against the installed Boost headers: $ ctags -R --c++-kinds=+p --fields=+iaS --extra=+q -f ~/.vim/tags/boost /usr/include/boost/ I ended up with a 1.4 GB tags file! I haven't tried it yet, but that seems likes it's going to be too large to be useful. Is there a way to get a slimmer, more usable tags file for my installed Boost headers? Edit Just as a note, libstdc++ includes TR1, which has allot of Boost libs in it. So there must be something weird going on for libstdc++ to come out with a 4 MB tags file and Boost to end up with a 1.4 GB tags file.

• Initialize content of a jQuery remote tab on initial page load

  I'm using the jQuery tabs library to create a set of remote (i.e., ajax loaded) tabs. However, to avoid the initial page load being empty until the ajax request finishes, I'd like to include the content for the initial tab with the initial page download. I've got this generally working by providing a div in the initial page load that matches the title of the tab, but even though this content appears immediately, as soon as I initialize the tabs it does the ajax request IN ADDITION which is both wasteful and causes a flicker. My basic question is how can I get jQuery tabs to NOT do an ajax request for the initially selected tab, and get this content as part of the initial page load, while still loading the other tabs dynamically. The complication is that I can't hard code the ids/hrefs for which tab is the "initial" one since the initial tab will change based on available content. I'm sure there is some kind of hacky way to do this with javascript rewriting the URLs of tabs dynamically before I initialize the tabs but I'm looking for a cleaner solution. Any ideas?

• [Ruby] Why do I have to URI.encode even safe characters for Net::HTTP requests?

  I was trying to send a GET request to Twitter (user ID replaced for privacy reasons) using Net::HTTP: url = URI.parse("http://api.twitter.com/1/friends/ids.json?user_id=12345") resp = Net::HTTP.get_response(url) this throws an exception in Net::HTTP: NoMethodError: undefined method empty?' for #<URI::HTTP:0x59f5c04> from /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/http.rb:1470:ininitialize' just by coincidence, I stumbled upon a similar code snippet, which used URI.encode prior to URI.parse, so I copied that and tried again: url = URI.parse(URI.encode("http://api.twitter.com/1/friends/ids.json?user_id=12345")) resp = Net::HTTP.get_response(url) now it works fine, but why? There are no reserved characters that need escaping in the URL I mentioned, so why do I have to call URI.encode for get_response to succeed?

• GCC (ld) option to strip unreferenced data/functions

  I've written an program which uses a library which has numerous functuions, but I only limited functions from it. GCC is the compiler I use. Once I've created a binary, when I used nm to see the symbols in it, it shows all the unwanted (unreferenced) functions which are never used. How do I removed those unreferenced functions and data from the executable? Is the -s option right? I'm tols that it strips all symbol table and relocation data from the binary, but does this remove the function and data too? I'm not sure on how to verify this too, since after using -s nm doesn't work since it's stripped all sym. table data too.

  I'm currently trying to scrape a website that has fairly poorly-formatted HTML (often missing closing tags, no use of classes or ids so it's incredibly difficult to go straight to the element you want, etc.). I've been using BeautifulSoup with some success so far but every once and a while (though quite rarely), I run into a page where BeautifulSoup creates the HTML tree a bit differently from (for example) Firefox or Webkit. While this is understandable as the formatting of the HTML leaves this ambiguous, if I were able to get the same parse tree as Firefox or Webkit produces I would be able to parse things much more easily. The problems are usually something like the site opens a <b> tag twice and when BeautifulSoup sees the second <b> tag, it immediately closes the first while Firefox and Webkit nest the <b> tags. Is there a web scraping library for Python (or even any other language (I'm getting desperate)) that can reproduce the parse tree generated by Firefox or WebKit (or at least get closer than BeautifulSoup in cases of ambiguity).

  I am currently coding up a fuzzy logic library in java. I have found the equations for all the standard functions - Grade, inverseGrade, Triangle, Trapezoid, Gaussian. However, I can't find the inverse of the sigmoid/ logistic function. The way I have written the logistic function is java is : //f(x) = 1/(1+e(-x)) public double logistic(double x){ return (1/(1+(Math.exp(-x))); } But I can't work out or find the inverse anywhere. My algebraic/calculus abilities are fairly limited, hence why I haven't been able to work out the inverse of the function. Any hints or pointers would be a big help. Thanks

  I have an iPhone App linked against iPhone SDK 4.0 but as deployment target I selected OS 3.1.   Anybody know of an IFilter that can index source code files beyond what the "Plain Text" filter can provide, with possibly a custom "Property Set" specific to programming? For example, I have 835MB in 41,000 files and 8,200 folders in my "Code Library" folder. I would like to perform searches such as "select distinct attributes on properties" or "select class exceptions" or "select classes with nested private classes". Preferrably, the IFilter can distinguish between various languages, so I can perform a query like "select class exceptions in VB.NET" or "select 'resume next' in VBScript". Other Examples "select all enum from folder('microsoft source code') in namespace 'system.io'"

• Using my cell phone as remote control for PC via Bluetooth/Java

  I've got a PC and a Samsung Eternity (that's a cell phone). I'd like to use my Eternity as remote control for my PC. Here's how I think I have to go about it: Write a desktop app (server) that accepts a connection from my cell. Write an app (client) for my cell through which I can establish a connection to the server and send commands to it. The server then executes the commands (e.g. adjust volume, pause/resume movie) Thoughts on that? Spot on or way off? Regarding the Eternity: What's a good way to get started with that? I'm guessing that I'll have to get the SDK. Does anyone have a good place to start/tutorial for that? Regarding the server: Does Java come with Bluetooth connectivity straight out of the box or do I need to fetch a library for that from somewhere? If so, from where? All help is much appreciated :)

  Hello, I am new to Objective C and I am trying to implement an async library which works with callbacks. I need to figure out a way to pass callback methods as args to my async methods so that the callback can be invoked when the task is finished. What is the best way to achieve this in Objective C? In Python, for example I could easily pass a function, but in Objective C it seems selectors are the way to go(?). Can anyone point me to an example from where I can get some ideas?
