I will be attending Seattle Code Camp 5.0 tomorrow at Microsoft Commons.
Take a look at http://seattle.codecamp.us/default.aspx for details. It looks like you can still register.
After reading this chapter, you will be able to Use the Entity Framework (EF) to build a data access layer using an existing database or with the Model-First approach
.Generate entity types from the Entity Data Model (EDM) Designer using the ADO.NET Entity Framework POCO templates. Get data from Web services
Learn about data caching using the Microsoft Windows Server AppFabric (formerly known by the codename “Velocity”)

<b>Ed Bott's Microsoft Report:</b> "While researching the recent battle over H.264 as the default HTML5 media format, I've discovered that open-source advocates are just as capable of spreading FUD as those mega-corporations."
This is just a quick post to describe a test I just ran to satisfy my own curiosity. I remember when Microsoft first introduced the query hint OPTION (MAXDOP N). We already had the configuration option ‘max degree of parallelism’, so there were lots of questions about how the hint interacted with the configuration option. Some people thought the configuration option set an absolute maximum, and the hint could only specify something less than that value to be meaningful. Other people thought differently,...(read more)
In SQL Server 2012, Microsoft introduced SQL Server Data Tools to accommodate the dynamic nature of SSIS constructs in the form of package and project parameters. This approach lets you combine multi-package projects into a single unit, eliminating the possibility of breaking dependencies between parent and child packages during subsequent deployments.

Please see the article at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webdev/archive/2014/05/13/improvements-to-asp-net-web-forms.aspx The bulk of these changes should be part of VS2013 Update 2 which is now available as an RTM.

<b>Linux Journal:</b> "This little guy is the "Bonzi Buddy" ape. He was one of the earliest malware/spyware/crapware programs for the Microsoft Windows platform."
Microsoft's introduction of Bing completely transformed our conventional ways of website optimization. Websites will have a new approach to search engine optimization, where there no longer be a need to submit your website to popular search engines or even get links from external sources just for your website to get indexed.
<b>Financial Times:</b> "Google is phasing out the internal use of Microsofts ubiquitous Windows operating system because of security concerns, according to several Google employees."
Do you think we'll ever see an IL (or other bytecode) processing unit?
It sounds possible and would have a major benefit, because we wouldn't need the JITter. This isn't the same as compiling .NET directly to machine code, since the bytecode here is designed to be programmed and disassembled easily, unlike the bytecode used in x86 processors which is designed to work faster.
What's stopping Intel (for example) from partnering with Microsoft and making such a .NET-optimised processor?
The Microsoft .NET Framework comes packaged with all the building blocks to implement a keyboard interface in a WinForm application, we'll illustrate and walk through how to extend those building blocks with basic .NET controls, inheritance and custom events to create a consistent keyboard interface.
Well I had a relatively unpleasant exprience with Microsoft's new offerings when it comes to azure. And of course they deleted the forum trail. They don't want the consumer as a customer, expect to pay $200 - $250 or more a year for azure and that doesn't include a good email solution. This is for the smallest slice offering. If you want a simple website solution 1and1.com isn't a bad choice and it's less than $50 a year.
This May brings SQL Server experts to your locality; full day seminars in Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London. Overview sessions from Microsoft in the morning, Deep Dive sessions in the afternoon from SQL Server MVP's and evening community events.

I got the above errror when I tried to run WSS default site after installing and running the Advance System Optimizer 3.o. I resolve this by going to the following locations and adding permission for the admin users accounts (ASP.NET & IIS_WPG) I have set up for Sharepoint.
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files
C:\WINDOWS\System 32\Log Files
C:\WINDOWS\Temp
After the correct permissions have been added, Sharepoint works as normal.

In my recent SQLBits conference session, Through the Virtual Looking Glass available to watch here , I spoke about monitoring SQL Server in a virtualised environment. We looked at good and bad contention, where resource pressures which can adversely affect SQL Server might come from and most importantly how we can monitor the environment to detect them. Since then, I’ve been in discussions with some of the Microsoft product team who are focussed on optimising Windows 8 Hyper-V and SQL Server...(read more)
