  • Next programming paradigm for CBE/GPU in the next years

    Hi, in the last five years, there has been a rise in the use of GPU and CBE for parallelization of applications. Around 2005-2007 verything seemed to be programmed by hand, C, etc. Afterwards new unifying alternatives emerged like CUDA for GPU and lastly OpenCL. What do you think will be the programming paradigm for GPU/CBE in the forthcoming years? My vote goes for OpenCL Thanks

  • Including phonon environment setup in Qt Creator

    On Windows XP, I ran "configure", and Qt says that I'm configured to use phonon, but I'm not sure how to set up my environment correctly in Qt Creator. According to the Qt documentation, I need to call: Set DXSDK_DIR=C:\Program Files\Microsoft DirectX SDK (February 2007) %DXSDK_DIR%\utilities\bin\dx_setenv.cmd C:\program files\Microsoft Platform SDK\setenv.cmd How do I do this in the Qt Creator IDE?     If I wanna authenticate windows accounts to AD when a user browses to an apache-running site on a Linux server, here are the usual suspects:   * mod_ntlm (which I used in a distant past) - last update on 2003 * mod_auth_ntlm_winbind - last update on 04/2007 * mod_auth_kerb - last update on 12/2008 No luck getting any of those to work with a recent, fully patched, windows 2000 AD server.   • Click-Once install location from within application

    I'd like to programatically determine the "publish location" (the location on the server which contains the installation) of the click-once application I'm running. I know that the appref-ms file contains this information and I could parse this file to find it but the application has no idea as to the location of the appref-ms file and I can't seem to find a way of determining this location. Does anyone have any ideas how I can easily determine the publish location from within my application?

I have a custom master page, packaged in a WSP, so I may use STSADM on the production server to install it. I have made some pages via SPD (on my local machine) and put them in the "Pages" gallery. What is the recommended way to get these pages to production. Also, is the process the same when I make edits to current pages?

  • Microsoft Word Document Controls not accepting carriage returns

    So, I have a Microsoft Word 2007 Document with several Plain Text Format (I have tried Rich Text Format as well) controls which accept input via XML. For carriage returns, I had the string being passed through XML containing "\r\n" when I wanted a carriage return, but the word document ignored that and just kept wrapping things on the same line. I also tried replacing the \r\n with System.Environment.NewLine in my C# mapper, but that just put in \r\n anyway, which still didn't work. Note also that on the control itself I have set it to "Allow Carriage Returns (Multiple Paragrpahs)" in the control properties.     In Internet Explorer 7, this code executes consistently in 47 ms: function updateObjectValues() { $('.objects').html(12345678); // ~500 DIVs } however, this code executes consistently in 157 ms: function updateObjectValues() { $('.objects').html('12345678'); // ~500 DIVs } Passing a number is over 3x faster than a string. Why are these results so dramatically different? And, is there any way to help the performance of the string?
