• How to Integrate ILMerge into C#/VB.NET (MSBuild) Projects to Merge Assemblies?

  I want to merge one .NET DLL assembly and one C# Class Library project referenced by a VB.NET Console Application project into one command-line console executable. I can do this with ILMerge from the command-line, but I want to integrate this merging of reference assemblies and projects into the Visual Studio project. From my reading, I understand that I can do this through a MSBuild Task or a Target and just add it to a C#/VB.NET Project file, but I can find no specific example since MSBuild is large topic. How do I integrate ILMerge into a Visual Studio (C#/VB.NET) project, which are just MSBuild projects, to merge all referenced assemblies (copy-local=true) into one assembly? How does this tie into a possible ILMerge.Targets file?

• Websocket TLS Node Server and wss://

  I'm looking to start using javascript on the server, most likely with node.js, as well as use websockets to communicate with clients. However, there doesn't seem to be a lot of information about encrypted websocket communication using TLS and the wss:// handler. In fact the only server that I've seen explicitly support wss:// is Kaazing. This TODO is the only reference I've been able to find in the various node implementations. Am I missing something or are the websocket js servers not ready for encrypted communication yet? Another option could be using something like lighttpd or apache to proxy to a node listener, has anyone had success there?

  Hello all, I am developing a C# application in VS 2010 that is to be deployed via ClickOnce. However when I try to deploy the application on a client machine I get the following error: Unable to install or run the application. The application requires the assembly Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop.9.0 Version 9.0.0.0 to be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first. I have tried to include the missing assembly into the application files under Project Properties-Publish tab, but the error remains the same. Next I tried to add Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop.9.0 to the project's references, but I cannot find it in the reference list. Does anyone have any tips or solutions to this problem. • WCF <operation>Async methods not generated in proxy interface

  I want to use the Asnyc methods rather than the Begin on my WCF service client proxy because I'm updating WPF controls and need to make sure they're being updated from the UI thread. I could use the Dispatcher class to queue items for the UI thread but that's not what I'm asking about.. I've configured the service reference to generate the asynchronous operations, but it only generates the methods in proxy's implementation, not it's interface. The interface only contains syncronous and Begin methods. Why aren't these methods generated in the interface and is there a way to do this, or do I have to create a derived interface to manually add them?

  Hi, Next week i am supposed to develop an asp.net application which will connect to SAP, retrieve some data, change them and send back to SAP. We decided to use web services to achieve this and now i just want to know what diffuculties may i face with? I have URL of WSDL of the Web Service, will it be enough for me to adding web reference and giving the WSDL's URL? How will i authenticate? And Will it be the same with consuming normal web services? Also i wonder is there anybody that can share a .NET dll that can be used in visual studio 2008? There are some articles relating how to create such a dll using SAP .Net Connector and visual studio 2003 but i could not find anybody sharing the resulting dll under their post. Thanks...

  The below web services code has worked properly for me for over a year. We have updated our SharePoint servers, and now the below code throws an exception (at the bottom line of code) "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" UserProfileWS.UserProfileService userProfileService = new UserProfileWS.UserProfileService(); userProfileService.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultNetworkCredentials; string serviceloc = "/_vti_bin/UserProfileService.asmx"; userProfileService.Url = _webUrl + serviceloc; UserProfileWS.PropertyData[] info = userProfileService.GetUserProfileByName(null); EDIT: The service is still there. I browse http:///_vti_bin/UserProfileService.asmx, and the information for the service is still there, including the full description of the GetUserProfileByName call. EDIT2: This does appear to be due to a change in SharePoint. I loaded a previous version of my software (known to be working), and it exhibits the same erroneous behavior.

  I'm trying to use this api that lets you reference an exact text, but the getJson does not seem to be working, it's just returning null. $.getJSON('http://api.biblia.com/v1/bible/content/KJV.json?key=MYAPIKEY=John+3:16-18&style=bibleTextOnly', function(data) { alert(data); }); I just took the key out, i've been testing it with my real api key, and it works fine when i just visit the url. is there anything else i need to do to make it work?   I am confused about the iPhone responder chain. Specifically, in the iPhone event handling guide http://developer.apple.com/iPhone/library/documentation/iPhone/Conceptual/iPhoneOSProgrammingGuide/EventHandling/EventHandling.html, we have the following: The first responder is the responder object in an application (usually a UIView object) that is designated to be the first recipient of events other than touch events. But UIView is a subclass of UIResponder. And the UIResponder class reference says this: - (BOOL)canBecomeFirstResponder Return Value YES if the receiver can become the first responder, NO otherwise. Discussion Returns NO by default. If a responder object returns YES from this method, it becomes the first responder and can receive touch events and action messages. Subclasses must override this method to be able to become first responder. I am confused by the apparent contradiction. Can anyone clear it up for me? For what it's worth, I did set up a simple view-based application, and call canBecomeFirstResponder and isFirstResponder on its view. Both returned NO.

  I'm trying to write a custom fxcop rule for mstest projects VS2010. I'd like to debug it but keep getting an exception when it tries to load the dll for the mstest project it fails stating that it can't find referenced assembly: Microsoft.FxCop.Common.AssemblyLoadException Could not load C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\20100106-CodeAnalysisRulesBlogDemo\BlogDemo\TestProject1\bin\Debug\TestProject1.dll. Microsoft.FxCop.Sdk.InvalidMetadataException The following error was encountered while reading module 'TestProject1': Assembly reference cannot be resolved: Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.UnitTestFramework, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? If I just run the code analysis it works fine but as soon as I try to debug it fails. Thanks

I suspect there's a memory leak: JNIEnv *env = NULL; vm_->AttachCurrentThread(&env, NULL); const jclass cls = env->FindClass(...); const jmethodID meth = env->GetMethodID(...); const jobject obj = env->NewObject(cls, meth, ...); [ more code ] env->DeleteLocalRef(obj); My question is: should I also release the local reference of cls and meth? JNI Documentation isn't very clear about it.

• wix: does INSTALLDIR always end in a slash?

  I think the default dir gets a trailing slash. But what if the user selects a different directory? Is there a way for the INSTALLDIR to NOT have a trailing slash? It's not that I want it to not have a trailing slash. I want to know if I can count on it, so that, for example, [INSTALLDIR]Filter.dll ...will always resolve to a real, valid filesystem path. Currently I use [INSTALLDIR]\Filter.dll and I get a double-slash in there. It's valid and resolves, but I'd like to eliminate the double slash. thanks.

• Delphi 2010 Error Insight incorrectly flags "Undeclared Identifier"

  In D2010, Error Insight is incorrectly underlining in red types like "TOpenDialog" (even though my unit and project's uses both include Dialogs). Also, in my method TMyFrame.Foo, it fails the same way by flagging a reference to a VCL component in my TMyFrame -- even though Foo and the component are both part of TMyFrame. SO suggested I read several threads on this subject. One mentions a D2009 fix for this. Is there a D2010 fix? Other postings have suggested that Error Insight yields too many false alarms and should just be turned off. Any suggestions?

  Hello, I am using windows script host for some kind of installer application and I'm creating shortcuts in start menu with it. This problem came up when I switched to x64 environment (win7 ultimate x64+vs2010) I added a reference to Windows Script Host Object Model (from c:\windows\syswow64\wshom.ocx), it generated Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary dll. I added 'using IWshRuntimeLibrary;' to my .cs files, but when I tried to create WshShell sh = new WshShellClass(); it throws an exception: Could not load file or assembly 'Interop.IWshRuntimeLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. I assume that I would need 64-bit version of that wshom.ocx for this to work, but I don't know what should I try. Or I'll just dump Windows Script stuff, but I need another way to create start menu shortcuts from .net application. Thanks

  Safari HTML Reference: Supported Attributes says: contenteditable If true, the element can be edited on the fly; if false, it cannot. Availability Available in Safari 1.2 and later. Available in iPhone OS 1.0 and later. However, on my iPhone, I can't get it to work. Anyone have success with this? You can try it with this document (admittedly not pure html, but that document works in desktop Safari, and Chrome and Firefox 3). I haven't been able to get even the simplest html document to be editable in mobile Safari.

  I have recently moved my solution from my main dev machine using vs2010 pro sp1 to a new machine. The setup is supposed to be the same except its failing to build. Its giving errors like c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(1360,9): warning MSB3258: The primary reference "C:\rep\hms\trunk\ikassystemv3\ikasDAL\bin\Debug\ikasDAL.dll" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the .NET Framework assembly "mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" which has a higher version "4.0.0.0" than the version "2.0.0.0" in the current target framework. However all all the libraries in question are set to use the .net 2 framework and I need it this way or else it will break stuff that uses them. However for some reason it seems to think that somehow my .net 2 system libs are somehow referencing .net 4 stuff. To make a parameter optional its type should be either a reference type or a Nullable type.   Hi! I have a request for implementing a login system using local credentials + openId + facebook-connect. So a user could sign up/sign in using any of the 3 possibilities. I think that allowing OpenId AND facebook connect adds some flexibility in one had, but in other hand adds some restrictions since you have to integrate all different logic and make existing differences transparent for users. What do you think? Any good reference for managing federated login using both external mechanisms? Any well known site doing it right now?

• Emgu CV - memory-leaks (memory consumption)

  I am using EmguCV, the OpenCV wrapper for .NET. I am disposing all created objects but my app is still using more and more memory (in release configuration too). I have debugged my app using .NET Memory profiler and get this result: http://img532.imageshack.us/img532/2503/screenqv.png all objects instance count is oscilating but GChandle instance counr is increasing until my machine is unusable. Garbage collector does not release memory (i think). I am using VS 2008 professional, Win7 prof 32-bit, both up to date, and last stable version of emguCV. I can post some app code, if it will help. For some reason it can't achieve that as it is always giving me a compile error that it could not load the type. Error 2625 Could not load type 'Microsoft.Reporting.RdlBuildProvider' from assembly 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' One thing that I think it might be a cause is that I had moved from 9.0.0.0 to 10.0.0.0 and after that it does not work.   I have a method that counts the number of Contacts each Supplier, Customer and Manufacturer has (this is a scenario to try make explaining easier!) The models are all created by Linq to SQL classes. Each Supplier, Customer and Manufacturer may have one or more Contacts public int CountContacts<TModel>(TModel entity) where TModel : class { return entity.Contacts.Count(); } The above of course doesnt work, because the 'entity' is generic and doesnt know whether it has the property 'Contacts'. Can someone help with how to achieve this?
