    I tried hard to build QtDeclarative with Qt 4.6.2 on Mac OS X (Leopard) and did lots of Googling without finding any cure. Could anyone please help to solve this problem? Thanks.   • How many bits can be transfered through Ethernet at each time?

    I am writing a networking application. It has some unxpected lags. I need to calculate some figures but I cant find an information - how many bits can be transferes through Ethernet connection at each tick. I know that the resulting transfer rate is 100Mbps/1Gbps. But ethernet should use hardware ticks to sync both ends I suppose. So it moves data in ticks. So the question is how many ticks per second or how many bits per one tick used in ethernet. The actual connection is 100 Mbps full-duplex.

    I have a method which does some sync calls to a specific REST api, something like: WSRequestHolder url = WS.url("rest_api_url"); Promise<WS.Response> promisePerPage = url.get(); promisePerPage.getWrappedPromise().await(3000, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS); WS.Response responsePerPage = promisePerPage.get(); ProductsWrapper productsWrapper = new Gson().fromJson(responsePerPage.getBody(), ProductsWrapper.class); As you notice, I put 3 seconds between calls so each request can be parsed in time and inserted in DB. All works great locally but after I deploy to cloud, all goes continuously, without any more waiting (3 seconds) between requests... Do you know why?

  • Improving MySQL Update Query Efficiency

    In our database tables we keep a number of counting columns to help reduce the number of simple lookup queries. For example, in our users table we have columns for the number of reviews written, photos uploaded, friends, followers, etc. To help make sure these stay in sync we have a script that runs periodically to check and update these counting columns. The problem is that now that our database has grown significantly the queries we have been using are taking forever to run since they are totally inefficient. I would appreciate someone with more MySQL knowledge than myself to recommend how we can improve it's efficiency: update users set photos=(select count(*) from photos where photos.status="A" AND photos.user_id=users.id) where users.status="A"; If this were a select statement I would just use a join but I'm not sure if that is possible with update. Staging DB : I need to make all the changes I did in the development on it before using , currently I hold migration scripts for structure and data. Production DB : A production environment .   • Controling page number shown in printing dialog

    I'm trying to implement printing a range of pages in c# While printing, the .net framework throws up a message box that says "Page # of document". This starts at 1, and counts up to the number of pages printed. If I'm printing pages 10-11, I want that count to start at 10, not 1. Is there a way to set the starting value? The logical thing would be if it started at PrinterSettings.FromPage, but it ignores that value.

    I know that ASP.NET MVC 1.0 is bin-deployable as explained in Phil Haack's article. Is ASP.NET MVC 2.0 also bin-deployable? Has anyone done this already that can point out potential pitfalls specific to version 2.0 if there are any? I would like to deploy a relatively simple ASP.NET MVC 2.0 onto a Windows 2008 Web server that does not have ASP.NET MVC 2.0 installed. It is running .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. Thanks!

  • Advice for building a browser-based audio mixer up to 32 tracks

    As a personal hobby I am looking to build an online audio mixer where I can upload individual instrument tracks, control individual volumes of each track, and export the mixed down version. I've been trying (and have come pretty close) with javascript. I really would like to stay away from flash if possible, but I'm really looking for suggestions for technologies to try. If anyone has any suggestions on languages that are good at stuff like this or libraries that I am missing, please let me know!   • git merge different repositories?

    I've been using SVN for all my projects. Sometimes project B is originating as a copy from project A. When project A has a generic change, I can use svn merge A within directory B and it will merge those changes. Now, if I wanted to use git. I don't like having all my projects in the same repository since I then have to clone everything and can't pick just one project like in SVN. But having one repository for each project, how do I go about doing the same like I did earlier with SVN? The question is: What's the best way to structure it if I want several subprojects that really all relates to one original project and to keep them in sync? And that I also want to be able to check them out separately

  • GIT Clones on Multiple Machines

    Here's my setup... Laptop (Mac) - git clone of svn repository Thumb drive - git clone of laptop git repository Server (Win Server 08) - git clone of thumb drive repository I'm having trouble keeping them in sync for some reason... If I make a change on the server, I'll do a "git pull " on the thumb drive to get the changes. Take the thumb drive to the laptop and do "git pull " on the laptop. From there, I can do "git svn dcommit" and everything goes up to the SVN repo with no problem. If I pull changes from SVN with "git svn rebase" and then do a pull onto the thumb drive and do a "git status" it says that I'm ## revisions ahead of the master/origin and I can't figure out why.

  • strange characters at beginning of file

    there are strange characters at the beginning of a file I'm editing (using textmate..) I don't know when they appeared, they're invisible in textmate but my script that reads the file goes crazy.. this is the first few chars in the file (as seen with od command): 0000000 177377 000120 000105 000117 000120 000114 000105 000072 the first 2 shouldn't be there I think.. maybe they were caused by some strange dropbox sync? Or something else.. but they tend to reappear (I don't yet know when..) My question: what is that 177377 and a simple way to remove it in my ruby script? thanks

  • basic javascript DOJO 1.4 installation not working

    I am trying to give the DOJO framework a test spin but some how the latest release does not work at all ( 1.4.2) I keep getting a "console[_8]" [undefined] is not an object error. this is on the demos as well 1.3.3 works fine it seems ( or at least i dont get that error so far) any ideas? I have been using jquery for a while and love it , just looking for something better i guess. does anyone recommend DOJO? thanks

    As an ASP.NET developer, I'm used to working with how VS/C# transparently autogens proxy classes for web references (yes, I know, we're spoiled), but now that I'm creating documentation for more than one coding platform I'm trying to discover what the equivelant to that is in any other framework. So is there a similar way to work transparently with web reference proxy classes for say, RoR, PHP, and Python? And if there's nothing integrated, are there tools you recommend to autogen the proxy classes, or do you recommend to roll custom classes?

  • Including external C++ libraries in version control

    I'm currently starting a project which is going to be developed on a few different computer and I'm keeping in sync with bzr. In the project I'm using a couple of 3rd party libraries, like SDL. In the past I've just pushed a copy of the compiled library to my version control, but that usually seems to massively inflate the size of the branch and generally seem like a bad idea. Is that the normal practice, just pushing the required libraries, or is there a better way of added libraries to distributed version control like bzr or git? (I know on svn you can use svn:external to do something similar to this)
