• Error creating Google Calendar

  Hi, I'm trying to use the Google Calendar Java API to create a secondary calendar for a Google apps user. The relevant code is: // Initialise the API client CalendarService googleCalendar = new GCalendarService("canimo.ca"); googleCalendar.setUserCredentials("[email protected]", "secret"); // Create the calendar CalendarEntry cal = new CalendarEntry(); cal.title = new PlainTextConstruct(user.email); cal.summary = new PlainTextConstruct("Collection calendar"); cal.timeZone = new TimeZoneProperty("America/Montreal"); cal.hidden = HiddenProperty.FALSE; googleCalendar.insert(CALENDAR_URL, calendar); The call to insert() above results in com.google.gdata.util.ServiceException: Internal Server Error and no calendar is created. If I try and perform the same operation through the Google calendar website, it also fails with the error message: We could not save changes. Please try again in a few minutes. An obvious conclusion is that there's some problem on Google's side, but this has been going on for several days now. Strangely, if I create a new user, everything works fine for a while. I can create calendars via the website, and download them via the API. But as soon as I try and create a new calendar using the API, I get the exception above, and thereafter can't create new calendars using either the website or the API. Thanks, Don

I tried to browse to the "Program Files" folder, under which the log folder and file were to be created. I can create the folder by hand, but when i try to create the file, I get the similar "Access Denied" exception.

• Django install on a shared host, .htaccess help

• response.redirect to classic asp failing

  I have the following code pasted below. For some reason, the response.redirect seems to be failing and it is maxing out the cpu on my server and just doesn't do anything. The .net code uploads the file fine, but does not redirect to the asp page to do the processing. I know this is absolute rubbish why would you have .net code redirecting to classic asp, it is a legacy app. I have tried putting false or true etc. at the end of the redirect as I have read other people have had issues with this. Please help as it's driving me insane! • WCF cross-domain policy security error

  Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + WCF + .Net 3.5 + Silverlight 3.0. I host Silverlight control in an html page and debug it from VSTS 2008 (press F5, then run in VSTS 2008 built-in ASP.Net development web server), then call another WCF service (hosted in another machine running IIS 7.0 + Vista). The WCF service is very simple, just return a constant string to client. When invoking the WCF service from Silverlight, I got the following error message, An error occurred while trying to make a request to URI 'https://LabTest/Test.svc'. This could be due to attempting to access a service in a cross-domain way without a proper cross-domain policy in place, or a policy that is unsuitable for SOAP services. You may need to contact the owner of the service to publish a cross-domain policy file and to ensure it allows SOAP-related HTTP headers to be sent. This error may also be caused by using internal types in the web service proxy without using the InternalsVisibleToAttribute attribute. Please see the inner exception for more details. • Server.TransferRequest returns blank page on specific server

  I'm facing an issue that seems to be related to configuration. I have a webapplication based on MonoRail, where we utilize the routing feature from MonoRail. On the first request after the application has started, the routing isn't initialized. To circumvent this, I have the following code in Application_OnError(): public virtual void Application_OnError() { if ( // identified as routing error ) Server.TransferRequest( Context.Request.RawUrl, false ); return; } Problem beeing that on our development server (which runs server 2008 R2, with IIS 7.5 and .NET 3.5) returns a blank page without headers, but on my workstation (which runs win7, IIS 7.5 and .NET 3.5) it works fine. What could be the cause of this? If the code in Application_OnError() throws an exception, what would be the expected output? I have verified the following: The access-log shows one entry, I'm not sure if a TransferRequest would show up as a second entry when invoked successfully The application actually do some work according to my internal logs, and it doesn't die since a subsequent requests works flawlessly (because routing will be active) Any hints on what to look for would be greatly appreciated!

What would be an alternative approach for my case? You also shared with me the django comment app, which am aware of but the client am working with requires a lot of complex work to be done in the comment app thats why am working on a new one.

• Is there a JSON library that can serialize Proxy objects?

  Using ActiveObjects as my ORM and Gson as my JSON processor. Ran into a problem going toJson from persisted objects. The problem is that my persisted class is actually an Interface and AO is proxying that object under the hood. Here's some sample code: Venue venue = manager.get(Venue.class, id); gson.toJson(venue); Comes up with this exception: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Expecting parameterized type, got interface java.lang.reflect.InvocationHandler. Are you missing the use of TypeToken idiom? See http://sites.google.com/site/gson/gson-user-guide#TOC-Serializing-and... Because venue.getClass().getName() gives: $Proxy228 I've tried a few solutions in various combinations: gsonBuilder.registerTypeAdapter(Venue.class, newVenueSerializer()); Type listType = new TypeToken<Venue>() {}.getType(); Nothing has worked so far and I'm using a wonky field-by-field workaround. Any suggestions? I'm not married to Gson, so if there's an alternative library that can do this I'd be happy to use it.

  Hi im working on a project using HibernateDaoSUpport from my Daos from Spring & spring-ws & hibernate & postgres who will be used in a national application (means a lot of users) Actually, every exception from hibernate is automatically transformed into some specific Spring dataAccesException. I have a table with a keyword on the dabatase & a unique constraint on the keywords : no duplicate keywords is allowed. I have found twows ways to deal with with that in the Insert Dao: 1- Check for the duplicate manually (with a select) prior to doing your insert. I means that the spring transaction will have a SERIALIZABLE isolation level. The obvious drawback is that we have now 2 queries for a simple insert.Advantage: independent of the database 2-let the insert gone & catch the SqlException & convert it to a userfriendly message & errorcode to the final consumer of our webservices. Solution 2: Spring has developped a way to translate specific exeptions into customized exceptions. see http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/marx_spring.html In my case i would have a ConstraintViolationException. Ideally i would like to write a custom SQLExceptionTranslator to map the duplicate word constraint in the database with a DuplicateWordException. But i can have many unique constraints on the same table. So i have to get the message of the SQLEXceptions in order to find the name of the constraint declared in the create table "uq_duplicate-constraint" for example. • Two radically different queries against 4 mil records execute in the same time - one uses brute force.

  I'm using SQL Server 2008. I have a table with over 3 million records, which is related to another table with a million records. I have spent a few days experimenting with different ways of querying these tables. I have it down to two radically different queries, both of which take 6s to execute on my laptop. The first query uses a brute force method of evaluating possibly likely matches, and removes incorrect matches via aggregate summation calculations. The second gets all possibly likely matches, then removes incorrect matches via an EXCEPT query that uses two dedicated indexes to find the low and high mismatches. Logically, one would expect the brute force to be slow and the indexes one to be fast. Not so. And I have experimented heavily with indexes until I got the best speed. Further, the brute force query doesn't require as many indexes, which means that technically it would yield better overall system performance. Below are the two execution plans. If you can't see them, please let me know and I'll re-post then in landscape orientation / mail them to you. Brute-force query: Index-based exception query: My question is, based on the execution plans, which one look more efficient? I realize that thing may change as my data grows.

• why does entity framework+mysql provider enumeration returns partial results with no exceptions

  I'm trying to make sense of a situation I have using entity framework on .net 3.5 sp1 + MySQL 6.1.2.0 as the provider. It involves the following code: Response.Write("Products: " + plist.Count() + "<br />"); var total = 0; foreach (var p in plist) { //... some actions total++; //... other actions } Response.Write("Total Products Checked: " + total + "<br />"); Basically the total products is varying on each run, and it isn't matching the full total in plist. Its varies widely, from ~ 1/5th to half. There isn't any control flow code inside the foreach i.e. no break, continue, try/catch, conditions around total++, anything that could affect the count. As confirmation, there are other totals captured inside the loop related to the actions, and those match the lower and higher total runs. I don't find any reason to the above, other than something in entity framework or the mysql provider that causes it to end the foreach when retrieving an item. The body of the foreach can have some good variation in time, as the actions involve file & network access, my best shot at the time is that when the .net code takes beyond certain threshold there is some type of timeout in the underlying framework/provider and instead of causing an exception it is silently reporting no more items for enumeration. Can anyone give some light in the above scenario and/or confirm if the entity framework/mysql provider has the above behavior? Update: I can't reproduce the behavior by using Thread.Sleep in a simple foreach in a test project, not sure where else to look for this weird behavior :(.

• Outlook Interop: Password protected PST file headache

  Okay, I have no problem identifying the .PST file using the Outlook Interop assemblies in a C# app. But as soon as I hit a password protected file, I am prompted for a password. We are in the process of disabling the use of PSTs in our organization and one of the steps is to unload the PST files from the users' Outlook profile. I need to have this app run silently and not prompt the user. Any ideas? To me it looks Async such that the call to Validate() would pass and some non deterministic time later the handler would get called with the result/errors. Is that right? • Python modules not updating after restarting the main module.

  I've recently come back to a project having had to stop for about 6 months, and after reinstalling my operating system and coming back to it I'm having all kinds of crazy things happen. I made sure to install the same version(2.6) of python that I was using before. It started by giving me strange tkinter error that I hadn't had trouble with before, the program is relatively simple and the 2 or 3 bugs that were left when i quit, I had documented and weren't related to the interface. Things got even weirder when the same error would pop up even after I had removed the offending section of code. In fact, the traceback pointed to a line that didn't even exist in the module it was referencing, eg: line 262 when the module was only 200 lines long. After just starting a completely new file for the main module and copy/pasting it finally recognized that the offending code was gone and I stopped getting the error only to find that any updates to the code I made in another module didn't show up when I restarted the program through the shell. (I didn't forget to save.) After fiddling with this, of course, the old interface error came back, only in a different section of code that had been working previously. In fact, if I revert back to the files I had six months ago, the program works fine. As soon as I change anything in the main module, however, the interface bug comes back.   Hi, I'm trying to launch an event when someone plugs in a usb device. For now, I'm content to simply print something to the console (in the finished product, it will launch an application). • Problem with loading a PNG image in JApplet.

  Hi there, I'm trying to load a PNG image from JAR file when running JApplet. The file is, I think, loaded properly - there are no errors. However it is not displayed. img.png is placed in the same directory as MainClass.java file. I'm currently running the following code in hopes to determine what this maximum is. • Validate HAML from ActiveRecord: scope/controller/helpers for link_to etc?

  I like HAML. So much, in fact, that in my first Rails app, which is the usual blog/CMS thing, I want to render the body of my Page model using HAML. So here is app/views/pages/_body.html.haml: .entry-content= Haml::Engine.new(body, :format => :html5).render ...and it works (yay, recursion). What I'd like to do is validate the HAML in the body when creating or updating a Page. I can almost do that, but I'm stuck on the scope argument to render. I have this in app/models/page.rb: validates_each :body do |record, attr, value| begin Haml::Engine.new(value, :format => :html5).render(record) rescue Exception => e record.errors.add attr, "line #{(e.respond_to? :line) && e.line || 'unknown'}: #{e.message}" end end You can see I'm passing record, which is a Page, but even that doesn't have a controller, and in particular doesn't have any helpers like link_to, so as soon as a Page uses any of that it's going to fail to validate even when it would actually render just fine. So I guess I need a controller as scope for this, but accessing that from here in the model (where the validator is) is a big MVC no-no, and as such I don't think Rails gives me a way to do it. (I mean, I suppose I could stash a controller in some singleton somewhere or something, but... excuse me while I throw up.) What's the least ugly way to properly validate HAML in an ActiveRecord validator?
