• MySQL is returning an "column ambiguous" error when it used to work before I upgraded...

  I recently upgraded MySQL to 5.1.41. Before the upgrade the following SQL worked (or at least I thought I remembered it working...it has been a few weeks since designing this...). Now the SQL gives me an error stating that the "archived" column is ambiguous. How can I write this differently, or is there a different problem I'm not aware of? I simply want to return the "unit_id", "lease_count" (stored in another table with a unit_id that should correspond with the "a.unit_id"), and "lease_archived_count (stored in another table with a unit_id that should correspond with the "a.unit_id"). • Access Edit Mode Values of BindingSource Control

  I have a BindingSource control (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.bindingsource.aspx) with a datasource of a (single) Linq object. If I change any of the properties of the underlying Linq-to-Sql object then all the other changes on the bound controls on the form are lost. Does anyone now why and how I work around it? I don't want to call EndEdit because this will commit the changes to the underlying object. I think this might be because my underlying object linq-to-sql object does not implement IEditableObject so the potental new values for the object fields are sort of stored in the forms controls. Can anyone either clarify what is going on and/or suggest a work around. Thanks!

• connection string reading data from excel in asp.net

  Hello, I am trying to read data from excel file in asp.net. I have added the connection string to webConfig file: <add name="xls" connectionString="Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=HPM_DB.xls;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0"/> But it shows me an errormessage when I run this query: string query = "Select * from [IO_Definition$]"; IO_Definition is the name of the spreadsheet in my excel file. I also added the excel file to the App_Data folder of the website. The error is: The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'IO_Definition$'. Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly. The thing is, when I write the absolute path of the excel file in the connectionString it does work. Is there anyway I can make it work without writing the absolute path? Thanks, Greg

  I am totally confused by a simple Microsoft error message. When I run XSD.exe against an assembly that contains a custom ConfigurationSection (which in turn utilizes a custom ConfigurationElement and a custom ConfigurationElementCollection, as well as several ConfigurationProperties), I get the following error message: Error: There was an error processing 'Olbert.Entity.Utils.dll'. There was an error reflecting type 'Olbert.Entity.DatabaseConnection'. You must implement a default accessor on System.Configuration.ConfigurationLockCollection because it inherits from ICollection. Yet the class in question has a default accessor: public object this[int idx] { get { return null; } set { } } I realize the above doesn't do anything, but I don't need to access the element's properties by index. I'm just trying to work around the error message. So what's going on?

  Hi All, long time listener, first time caller. I use SPs and this isn't an SP vs code-behind "Build your SQL command" question. I'm looking for a high-throughput method for a backend app that handles many small transactions. I use SQLDataReader for most of the returns since forward only works in most cases for me. I've seen it done many ways, and used most of them myself. Methods that define and accept the stored procedure parameters as parameters themselves and build using cmd.Parameters.Add (with or without specifying the DB value type and/or length) Assembling your SP params and their values into an array or hashtable, then passing to a more abstract method that parses the collection and then runs cmd.Parameters.Add Classes that represent tables, initializing the class upon need, setting the public properties that represent the table fields, and calling methods like Save, Load, etc I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of at the moment as well. I'm open to all suggestions.

  I'm creating an Interface Builder plugin for an NSView subclass. I've been following the Interface Builder Plug-in Programming Guide but it's not answer all my questions. My class has one NSString property and 4 NSColor properties which I want to create bindings for at design time. I can't figure out where the bindings are specified in the plugin project. The documentation states that the Inspector Object is only for creating the Attribute Inspector. The class description file (.classdescription) lists outlets and actions but not bindings. Where do I specify the bindings for my class?

  I am using wamp and creating a Joomla template with changeable parameters. initially the message is The parameter file \templates\ssc_2010\params.ini is writable! once I make changes everything works as expected, except now i get the message: The parameter file \templates\ssc_2010\params.ini is unwritable! One solution is to brows to the directory, right click the file, select properties, and uncheck read-only. Again the file is writable but once I modify the parameters again it becomes read only again. I'm quite lazy and would like to prevent this from happening again, I've notice this happening in past projects, but now I have to work a lot with parameters so it becomes quite boring doing manual labor like that :P

  Redmine has a nice batch edit feature, but nothing equivalent for "batch create" (please correct me if I'm wrong!) FogBugz lets you quickly create multiple tickets with the same properties (type, status, assignment, etc.) via a ajax-ified text box at the bottom of any filtered view of tickets. Tickets created this way match the values of the filter (and the filter grouping value - there's a text-box at the bottom of each group). Toodledo has simpler option: it's "Add multiple tasks" feature is a textarea where each line is turned into an item. Is there a redmine plugin out there that adds functionality like either of the above?

• cc.net dynamic paramaters in publisher block

  I am Using CC.Net to run an .exe file after project build is complete and need to pass the project name, publish date/time and user on the command line as paramaters to the .exe. However I can't get cc.net to recognise these a dynamic properties and replace them with the correct values.   hi, i'm trying to run a web servlet project in eclipse 3.4 using jboss 4.2.2 as my web server. im using the wtp plugin and everything looks good (can run and debug). but some of the files/resources are not included on the war file. in my "WebContent/WEB-INF" folder, i have "properries", "config", and "lib" folders. but it seems like when i build and publish the project, only "config" and "lib" folders are included. how can i include the "properties" file during build?

• VS2010's "Public Property <PropertyName> As <DataType> vs. Public var

  In VS2008, I used to type Public Property <PropName> As <dataType> and hit the Enter key and the IDE editor would automatically expand it out to a full blown property block. Now, from what I understand, a new feature of 2010 is that the compiler automatically "expands" the short syntax above into the same IL code that you would get with the full property GET AND SET sub methods that were are accustomed to seeing before in the editor. But functionality, how the heck is this any different than just having a Public class level variable? If the only diff is what it compiles to and if otehrwise there is no functional difference, isn't the new way less efficient than the old since it involves more code than just having a class level memory variable? Public as I thought that if you weren't going to have code behind your properties that they were essentially the same. I guess the diffrenece is that they just added the keyword "Property" but functionality, their is no diff, eh?

• org.hibernate.annotations.Entity not being picked up by Hibernate 3.6

  I am using hibernate 3.6.7 I am using annotated classes. My classes were annotated with org.hibernate.annotations.Entity. Added the classes to configuration using configuration.addAnnotatedClass() method. Hibernate does not seem to pick it up. Stuff works fine if I use the standard jpa Entity annotation. What am I missing? I know that the classes have been deprecated in the Hibernate 4.x releases with the advent of newer annotations to configure stuff like dynamic-insert and dynamic-updates. I am not using any XML configuration file. I am setting up configuration with a properties file and using java apis.

• Core Data Null Relationship

  I have a to-one relationship in my data model with Core Data. I'm trying to set the value of the relationship but Core Data keeps thinking that it's nil. The "creatorUser" relationship is not optional, so when I go to save my managed object context, Core Data gives errors because it thinks the "creatorUser" is nil. Any help would be greatly advised. For example: I have a domain object Employee with the properties firstName and lastName which are transient, and when invoking their setter/getter methods they encrypt/decrypt the data. The data is saved in the database in encrypted binary format, thus not sortable by those fields. And yet again, not sortable by transient ones either, as noted in: http://www.grails.org/GSP+Tag+-+sortableColumn . • How do I get the PreviewDialog of Apache FOP to actually display my document?

  Search as I may I have not found a solution to my problem here and I'm hoping the combined minds of StackOverflow will push me in the right direction. My problem is as follows, I'm developing a print and print preview portion of a messaging system's user agent. I was given specific XSLT templates that after transforming XML will produce a Formatting Objects document. With Apache FOP I've been able to render the FO document into PDF which is all fine and good, but I would also like to display it in a print preview dialog. Apache FOP contains such a class called PreviewDialog which requires in its constructor a FOUserAgent, which I can generate, and an object implementing the Renderable Interface. The Renderable Interface has one implementing class in the FOP package which is called InputHandler which takes in its constructor a standard io File object. Now here is where the trouble begins. I'm currently storing the FO document as a temp file and pass this as a File object to an InputHandler instance which is then passed to the PreviewDialog. I see the dialog appear on my screen and along the bottom in a status bar it says that it is generating the document, and that is all it does. Here is the code I'm trying to use. However I require the data to re-sort itself at runtime in response to the changing of the properties on Item. The Item class derives from INotifyPropertyChanged and I know that the property fires correctly as my data template updates the values on screen, only the sorting logic is not being called. I have also tried raising INotifyPropertyChanged.PropertyChanged passing an empty string, to see if a generic notification would cause the sorting to be initiated. No bananas. EDIT In response to Kent's suggestion I thought I'd point out that sorting the items using this has the same result, namely that the collection sorts once but does not re-sort as the data changes: _itemsView.SortDescriptions.Add( new SortDescription("PropertyName", ListSortDirection.Ascending));

  Hello, When inserting an object into a database with SQLAlchemy, all it's properties that correspond to String() columns are automatically transformed from <type 'str'> to <type 'unicode'>. Is there a way to prevent this behavior? Here is the code: from sqlalchemy import create_engine, Table, Column, Integer, String, MetaData from sqlalchemy.orm import mapper, sessionmaker engine = create_engine('sqlite:///:memory:', echo=False) metadata = MetaData() table = Table('projects', metadata, Column('id', Integer, primary_key=True), Column('name', String(50)) ) class Project(object): def __init__(self, name): self.name = name mapper(Project, table) metadata.create_all(engine) session = sessionmaker(bind=engine)() project = Project("Lorem ipsum") print(type(project.name)) session.add(project) session.commit() print(type(project.name)) And here is the output: <type 'str'> <type 'unicode'> I know I should probably just work with unicode, but this would involve digging through some third-party code and I don't have the Python skills for that yet :)

• NHibernate - is property lazy loading possible?

  I've got some binary data that I store and was going to separate this out into a separate table so it could be lazy loaded. However, i then came across this post by Ayende (http://ayende.com/Blog/archive/2010/01/27/nhibernate-new-feature-lazy-properties.aspx) which suggests that property lazy loading is now possible. I have added the lazy="true" attribute to my property mapping but the field is still loaded from the database (I am using a simple text field to test). My query: return _session.CreateQuery("from Product") .SetMaxResults(1) .UniqueResult<Product>(); Mapping: <property name="Description" type="string" column="FullDescription" lazy="true"/> Has anyone been able to get this working? Personally I prefer this approach than having to add another table to my database.
