    I have a flat file source from Excel that has a structure like this: **People** Day1 Day2 Day3 Day4 Person1 someValue ... Person2 Person3 And i would like the package to put this information in a database with standard columns 'Person', 'Day', 'Value'. Does anybody know how to do this - at the moment because the days are going along the top, the package is assuming these are seperate data columns when they are not really and the mapping is not working.

  • Where can I write a temp file from ASP.NET?

    I have an 'access denied' problem on an ASP.NET web application, where the user uploads an Excel file and I try and write it to a folder. I don't have access to the host except FTP, so I can't set permissions. I thought that ASP.NET would be able to write to a folder that is under the web app root, but it isn't so. Is there anywhere I can write the file to that doesn't require me to set permissions?

    Dear all Stackoverflowers, I just started to learn programming and now I'm putting this question online based on a quote: no question is silly My work needs to develop a order system based on web, which wants a database system. Since using Excel for years as a general office user, I naturally turn this to Access. However, most people say Access is very limited comparing to MySQL or MSSQL, or any other more professional database system. But after developing some functions for my company's order system, I really find Access can fulfill my request. And I also tried MSSQL to develop, which I found it not quite convenient to use. I have searched in stackoverflow and find no general answer about my doubt. Now I am sincerely hoping some experienced and professional developers could clear my doubts. Now I'm listing some Access advantages, which I don't think other database system have. I hope you could help me also find these advantages in others. 1. Access is portable, I can just copy a xxx.accdb file to my company and continue with development. 2. Access is easy to generate helpful table, for example, it will automatically generate a field that can automatically count, could be used as primary key value. 3. it is more compatable with Excel, to display and filter data. 4. importantly, it nerely needs no environment to setup, just needs MS Office to be installed. ............others However, I also find some points that MSSQL is advantaged: 1. security reasons 2. easy to backup, ( just use BACKUP..... sql statement to do it) 3. can edit stored procedure to save some functions to database ...............others specifically, I wish some friends could tell me how to make other database portable? since I usually work both at home and in office.   • IIS: 404 error on every file in a virtual directory.

    I am trying to write my first WCF service for IIS 6.0. I followed the instructions on MSDN. I created the virtual directory, I can browse the directory fine but anything I click (even a sub-folder in that folder) gives me a 404 error. What am I missing that I can not access any files or folders? Any logs or whatnot you need just tell me where to find them in the comments and I will post them. Use the IIS Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to enable the appropriate Web extension. Default Web Extensions include: ASP, ASP.net, Server-Side Includes, WebDAV publishing, FrontPage Server Extensions, Common Gateway Interface (CGI). Custom extensions must be added and explicitly enabled. See the IIS 6.0 Help File for more information. I am guessing the 404 0 2 at the end of the log is a 404.2 error. I now know the why, I still don't know the how on how to fix it.

    We have two Windows 2008 R2 SP1 servers running in a SQL failover cluster. On one of them we are getting the following events in the security log every 30 seconds. The parts that are blank are actually blank. Has anyone seen similar issues, or assist in tracking down the cause of these events? No other event logs show anything relevant that I can tell. There is no sound from this adapter at the present, although it worked just before on the previous installation.   • Hyper-V + RRAS NAT + Port Forwarding + RDP, can I get it all working together?

    I am running a Windows 2008 R2 server with various services running natively and two virtualised servers running on Hyper-V. The hardware server, I'm going to call it REAL1, has one external NIC, to which I can assign any of the following IP addresses: 1.2.3.4, 1.2.3.5, 1.2.3.6, etc... I need to achieve the following: I would like to be able to connect to REAL1 via remote desktop (RDP / port 3389) on one IP address (say 1.2.3.4), but also to the virtualised servers (I'm going to call them VIRTUAL1 and VIRTUAL2) on the other available IP addresses (say 1.2.3.5 and 1.2.3.6). The easiest way of doing this is to connect the virtual servers directly to the external interface and assign them each their own IP address. REAL1 will have 1.2.3.4, VIRTUAL1 will have 1.2.3.5 and VIRTUAL2 will have 1.2.3.6. Unfortunately, although I don't directly manage the two virtual servers, I have responsibility for their security. I would like to have some kind of firewall between the virtual servers an the internet. I have tried running a virtual machine firewall, but have found the performance on Hyper-V pretty terrible. The alternative I am now trying is Routing and Remote Access (RRAS): I have set up a virtual network called 'Internal' and REAL1 has a virtual network adapter connected to this virtual network I have connected each of the virtual servers to this network too I have assigned each server static IP addresses on this virtual network (REAL1 has 10.1.1.1, VIRTUAL1 has 10.1.1.2 and VIRTUAL2 has 10.1.1.3) I have installed RRAS and set up a NAT. The external interface is the external NIC, the internal interface is the virtual NIC connected to the internal network I have assigned all the available external IP addresses to the external NIC on REAL1. The virtual servers have been set up appropriately such that their default gateway is pointing to 10.1.1.1 and they can both access externally. Success! The RRAS is routing packets. The problem I have is that when I try to port forward services from the external IP address on REAL1, it only works if there is not already a service bound to the port. Remote desktop 'greedily' binds to every available IP address on port 3389 on REAL1 so I can't selectively forward incoming traffic for 1.2.3.5:3389 to 10.1.1.2:3389. RRAS will allow me to set up this port forwarding, and no errors come up. It just doesn't work. So the question I have is: Is there a better way of doing this? Or at least is there a way of resolving the apparant conflict between RRAS and everything else on the physical server?

  • How to start networking on a wired interface before logon in Ubuntu Desktop Edition

    Problem Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Edition (and possibly previous versions as well, I haven't tested them) has no network connections after boot until at least 1 user logs in. This means any services that require networking (e.g. openssh-server) are not available until someone logs in locally either via gdm, kdm, or a TTY. Background Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop Edition uses the NetworkManager service to take commands from the nm-applet in Gnome (or it's equivalent in KDE). As I understand it, while NetworkManager is running at boot, it is not issued any commands to connect until you login for the first time because nm-applet isn't running until you login and your Gnome session starts (or similar for KDE). I'm not sure what prompts NetworkManager to connect to the network when you login via a TTY. There are several relevant variables involved in starting up the network connections including: Wired vs Wireless (and the resulting drivers, SSID, passwords, and priorities) Static vs DHCP Multiple interfaces Constraints Support Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala (bonus points for additional supported versions) Support wired eth0 interface Receive an IP address via DHCP Receive DNS information via DHCP (obviously the DHCP server must provide this information) Enable networking at the proper time (e.g. some time after file systems are loaded but before network services like ssh start) Switching distros or versions (e.g. to Server Edition) is not an acceptable solution Switching to a Static IP configuration is not an acceptable solution Question How to start networking on a wired interface before logon in Ubuntu Desktop Edition? What I have tried Per this guide, adding the following entry into /etc/network/interfaces so that NetworkManager won't manage the eth0 interface: auth eth0 iface inet dhcp After reboot eth0 is down. Issuing ifconfig eth0 up brings the interface up but it receives no IP address. Issuing dhclient eth0 instead Does bring up the interface and it Does receive an IP address. Completely removing the NetworkManager package in addition to the settings above. I'm a bit confused with the whole UpStart/SysVinit mangling that's going in Ubuntu currently (I'm more familiar with the CentOS world). However, directly issuing sudo /etc/init.d/networking start Or sudo start networking does not bring up the eth0 interface at all, much less get an IP address.   • IIS6 Log time recording problems

    On three separate occasions on two separate servers at nearly the same times, 6.9 hours seemingly went by without any data being written to the IIS logs, but, on closer inspection, it appears that it was all recorded all at once. Here's the facts as I know them: Windows Server 2003 R2 w/ IIS6 Logging using GMT, server local time GMT-7. Application was still operating and I have SQL data to prove that Time gaps appear in log file, not across two # headers appear at gap Load balancer pings every 30 seconds No caching Here's info on a particular case: an entry appears for 2009-09-21 18:09:27 then #headers the next entry is for 2009-09-22 01:21:54, and so are the next 1600 entries in this log file and 370 in the next log file. about half of the ~2000 entries on 2009-09-22 01:21:54 are load balancer pings (est. at 2/min for 6.9hrs = 828 pings) then entries are recorded as normal. I believe that these events may coincide with me deploying an ASP.NET application update into those machines. Also note that /ping.aspx returned 404 then switched to 200 just as the problem started. I rename the "I'm alive page" so the load balancer stops sending requests to the server while I'm working on it. What you see here is me renaming it back so the load balancer will use the server. So, this problem definitely coincides with me re-enabling the server. Any ideas?

    The new Ubuntu features a completely unkillable gdm. Is there a way to disable it? It is not enabled in services , the gdm startup script is deleted , it is removed from 'update.rc' but it still starts up. How do I disable GDM and Graphical User Selection?

  • SQL Server installation leaves odd hotfix folders on the root

    I have about a dozen weirdly named folders, for example 5e812807b3e1b04248ed046794a01b, on my d: drive after installing SQL Server 2008. Inside each folder are two subfolders: 1033 and hotfixexpress \1033\eula.txt \1033\finalsql2005information.rtf \1033\hotfix.rll \1033\sqlhotfix.chm \1033\sqlse.rll \hotfixexpress\files\sqlexpr.exe I get access denied whenever I try to delete any of these files / folders. I tried again after stopping all SQL server services, without luck. Any ideas?
