• jqGrid problem, expecting jQuery.jgrid but $.jgrid exists instead

  I'm using jqGrid for a JIRA plugin and have included the jquery and jqgrid libraries as web resources. I've set up a column in jqGrid as required and when I try to submit the form with the respective column empty I get an error in firebug: jQuery.jgrid is undefined jQuery.jgrid is null but $.jgrid has the correct data. Does anyone know how I can set up jqgrid so that it points to the $.jgrid without having to change all the source code? or any other way round this? Thanks

I noticed there are 4 colors showing in the left hand column of FireBug DOM tree: Bold black Black Bold green Green In the right hand column: Blue Red Bold green Green Multiple color elements representing object structures. What do this colors represent? And why, e.g, I can access window.document.URL and I can't access window.document.body in Console even though they are both in the "not-bold black" category in the DOM tree? Thanks a lot

• My AJAX is only firing once,

  I need to use a regex to pull a value out a url domain that will exclude everything but the host (ex: wordpress) and domain type (ex .com). The urls are dynamic and contain 2-3 values for each result (www.example.com or example.org). • iText PDFReader Extremely Slow To Open

  I have some code that combines a few pages of acro forms (with acrofields in tact) and then at the end writes some JS to the entire document. It is the PdfReader in the function adding the JS that is taking extremely long to instantiate (about 12 seconds for a 1MB file). Here is the code (pretty simple): public static byte[] AddJavascript(byte[] document, string js) { PdfReader reader = new PdfReader(new RandomAccessFileOrArray(document), null); MemoryStream msOutput = new MemoryStream(); PdfStamper stamper = new PdfStamper(reader, msOutput); PdfWriter writer = stamper.Writer; writer.AddJavaScript(js); stamper.Close(); reader.Close(); byte[] withJS = msOutput.GetBuffer(); return withJS; } I have benchmarked the above and the line that is slow is the first one. I have tried reading it from a file instead of memory and tried using a MemoryStream instead of the RandomAccessFileOrArray. Nothing makes it any faster. If I add JS to a single page document, it is very fast. So my thought is that the code that combines the pages is somehow making the PDF slow to read for the PdfReader. • location.hash in an iframe scrolls the parent window

  Hi all. I have a page with an iframe. Inside the iframe is code (that I can't change) that sets location.hash to the id of an element in the iframe window. This has the unwanted effect of scrolling my outermost browser window so that the top of the window touches the top of the iframe. This is quite annoying as I have a toolbar above the iframe that is vital to my app. Is there any way of preventing the setting of location.hash affecting the scroll position of the main window? Will preventDefault help me out here? Thanks!

  I have a problem with the jQuery UI Slider. The issue also appears on the demo. It is more obvious in Chrome - if you go to http://jqueryui.com/demos/slider/#steps and slide the slider, you'll not see anything wrong. If you then click "New Window" or go to (http://jqueryui.com/demos/slider/steps.html) to view the demo in a new window and try sliding the slider, you'll see the handle of the slider gets a focus box around it during dragging. I am having this problem and I cannot seem to fix it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I've heard mostly about prototype and jquery, but I know there are way too many options out there beyond those two, and I don't know if they handle async download.   I'm about to begin a new project and plan to use YUI and my JS and CSS framework for the following reasons: Treeview with tri-state checkboxes (seems to be the best implementation I could find) Calandar (seen others, but since #1 is on YUI, I'm glad it also has calendar) CSS framework (was going to use 960, but might as well go 100% Yahoo) I plan to use only 1 JS framework. Does anyone see any problems with my decision?

• Add KO "data-bind" attribute on $(document).ready

  Preface I've rarely ever been a JS developer and this is my first attempt at doing something with Knockout.js. The question to follow likely illustrates both points. Backgound I have a fairly complex MVC3 application that I'm trying to get to work with KO (v2.0.0.0). My MVC app is designed to generically control which fields appear in the view (and how they are added to the view). It makes use of partial views to decide what to draw in the view based on the user's permissions (If the user is in group A then show control A, if the user in group B then show control B or possibly if the user is in group A don't include the control at all). Also, my model is very flat so I'm not sure the built-in ability to apply my ViewModel to a specific portion of the view will help. My solution to this problem is to provide an action in my controller that responds with an object in JSON format with that contains the JQuery selector and the content to assign to the "data-bind" attribute and bind the ViewModel to the View in the $(document).ready event using the values provided. Failed Proof-of-concept My first attempt at proving that this works doesn't actually seem to work, and by "doesn't work" I mean it just doesn't bind the values at all (as can be seen in this jsfiddle). I've tried it with the applyBindings inside of the ready event and not, but it doesn't seem to make any bit of difference. Question What am I doing wrong? Or is this just not something that can work with KO (though I've seen at least one example online doing the same thing and it supposedly works)? Like I said in the preface, I've only ever pretended to be a JS developer (though I've generally gotten it to work in the past) so I'm at a loss where to start trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Hopefully this isn't a real noob question.

• Implementing a pager for asp.net's DataList/Repeater

  I have a DataList showing the results, and a Repeater that is supposed to be the pager. I decided to use the page number by redirecting with a QueryString parameter, so it will also be bookmarkable ... My problem is mainly in the UI actually. If I put DIV's with their onclick calling a JS function that does window.location = url + pagenumber , then somehow I have to deal with QueryString operations via JS which is a bit messy. If I use LinkButton objects within the ItemTemplate, then the Redirecting happens only when the linkbutton is clicked while whole div has cursor: pointer , you what I mean. What would be the best approach to this? Thanks in advance. Note: I really want to spend the time and effort implementing my own server-side paging. I think its more fun than reading 3rd party manuals.

• Passing jQuery object and WebMethod return value to an OnSuccess function

  I am calling a WebMethod from this code: if($(this).attr("checked")) { .. MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction); } The MyWebMethod returns an integer, and I want to set $(this).attr("id") of the jQuery object above to the returned integer. Basically, I'm trying to do the equivalent of an MVC Ajax.ActionLink...AjaxOptions {UpdateTargetID =...} However, I can't figure out how to get both a reference to $(this) as well as the returned value. For example, if I do: MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction($(this))); I can succesfully manipulate the jQuery object, but obviously it doesn't have the return value from the MyWebMethod. Alternatively, the first code block with a method signature of onSuccessFunction(returnValue) has the correct return value from MyWebMethod, but no concept of the jQuery object I'm looking for. Am I going about this all wrong?

• Problem with JS Selectbox Function

  I have a selectbox with three options. When a user selects one of the three options, I want a specific div to appear below it. I am trying to write the code that dictates which specific box is to appear when each of the three options is selected. So far, I have only worked on the code that pertains to the first option. However, whenever the user selects any of the three options from the selectbox, the function for the first option is triggered and the div is displayed. My question is two part: 1) How do I write a conditional function that specifically targets the selected option 2) What is the best way to accomplish what I have described above; How do I efficiently go about defining three different functions for three different options in a select box? • How do I get the "Install Missing Plugin" yellow bar to appear in firefox when flash is not installe

  My rails website uses the open_flash_graph plugin to generate flash graphs for my clients. If a customer doesn't have flash installed, it doesn't display any messages, it simply doesn't show any graphs. I've noticed that if I go to other websites that need flash, I get a yellow bar at the top of my firefox window that offers to "Install Missing Plugin". I assume something in the HTML lets firefox know that this webpage needs flash. What code do I need to add to my website to make this work?

However, if I try to add this to a select box and change the function to an ||, it breaks. Do select boxes work differently since they can be continuously selected? .focus seemed to make a difference (brighter color when in focus). I am trying to do a search on enter if either the product_name or the select box is focused and do something else otherwise. I have it set up now so everything works except the select box. Thanks.

• How do I make a jQuery POST function open the new page?

  I know that a submit button in HTML can submit a form which opens the target page, but how do I cause a jQuery ajax call POST information to a new page and display the new page. I am submitting information that is gathered by clicking elements (which toggle a new class) and then all items with this new class are added to an array and POSTed to a new page. • Loading HTML into <div> with jQuery-ajax

  Hello everyone, I ran into a bit of trouble while trying to load an external HTML page into a div using jQuery-ajax. I had this div: <div id="content"></div> and wanted to fill it with $("#content").load("include/add.html"); It loads the HTML file perfectly, but inside that add.html is a button that should load add2.html(also using .load), but it seems that neither the button nor the datepicker in that file won't work. I'm guessing the .load function is responsible for that?
