• Why does PHP 5.2 disallow abstract static class methods?

  After enabling strict warnings in PHP 5.2, I saw a load of strict standards warnings from a project that was originally written without strict warnings: Strict Standards: Static function Program::getSelectSQL() should not be abstract in Program.class.inc The function in question belongs to an abstract parent class Program and is declared abstract static because it should be implemented in its child classes, such as TVProgram. I did find references to this change here: Dropped abstract static class functions. Due to an oversight, PHP 5.0.x and 5.1.x allowed abstract static functions in classes. As of PHP 5.2.x, only interfaces can have them. My question is: can someone explain in a clear way why there shouldn't be an abstract static function in PHP?

• Jquery toggle with two elements

  I am using a toggle on a graphic to slide out a contact form. The problem is, the contact form can cover up the graphic element on low resolutions. I thought a solution would be to include a "close this" inside the form, that would use the same toggle effect. When I add the close this element to the code, instead of working in tandem with the original graphic element, it starts the chain back over, and slides the contact form even further out. • Executing functions parallelly in PHP

  Hi! Can PHP call a function and don't wait for it to return? So something like this: function callback($pause, $arg) { sleep($pause); echo $arg, "\n"; } header('Content-Type: text/plain'); fast_call_user_func_array('callback', array(3, 'three')); fast_call_user_func_array('callback', array(2, 'two')); fast_call_user_func_array('callback', array(1, 'one')); would output one (after 1 second) two (after 2 seconds) three (after 3 seconds) rather than three (after 3 seconds) two (after 3 + 2 = 5 seconds) one (after 3 + 2 + 1 = 6 seconds) Main script is intended to be run as a permanent process (TCP server). callback() function would receive data from client, execute external PHP script and then do something based on other arguments that are passed to callback(). The problem is that main script must not wait for external PHP script to finish. Result of external script is important, so exec('php -f file.php &') is not an option.

  Im trying to post to aweber using just jquery. Im guessing hte addlead.pl is just a posting page with no response.

  I need to do a binomial test in Python that allows calculation for 'n' numbers of the order of 10000. I have implemented a quick binomial_test function using scipy.misc.comb, however, it is pretty much limited around n = 1000, I guess because it reaches the biggest representable number while computing factorials or the combinatorial itself. I would expect compiler is able to recognize that value is never used as rhs only. Is there some side effect, which prevents optimization? Thanks

• Send custom data when initializing java WebService over soap

  Hello. I have a question about sending additional data over soap to the functions. My webService function requests only one integer, for example an getDocumentPrivilage(DocumentID). In another WebService user registered and he got an unique ID, so the other application can see who he is. So on Service one he registers, gets id and it has to send it to the other webservice tor the privilage. Id dont wish to rewrite the function so that it gets the unique ID (like this getDocumentPrivilage(uniqID,DocumentID)) but, the wish is that i would be able to create a client that sends this data at the initialization or somehow as some sort of parameter behind the function. Is this possible?? I tried the ServiceLifecycle but cant see any setting i've given in. Im using WebSphere CE for the server and Jax-ws Creating the webapp in java. • Anonymous iterator blocks in Clojure?

  I am using clojure.contrib.sql to fetch some records from an SQLite database. (defn read-all-foo [] (with-connection *db* (with-query-results res ["select * from foo"] (into [] res)))) Now, I don't really want to realize the whole sequence before returning from the function (i.e. I want to keep it lazy), but if I return res directly or wrap it some kind of lazy wrapper (for example I want to make a certain map transformation on result sequence), SQL-related bindings will be reset and connection will be closed after I return, so realizing the sequence will throw an exception. How can I enclose the whole function in a closure and return a kind of anonymous iterator block (like yield in C# or Python)? Or is there another way to return a lazy sequence from this function?

  Hello Guys, in Scala, I can make a caseclass case class Foo(x:Int) and then put it in a list like so: List(Foo(42)) Now, nothing strange here. The following is strange to me. The operator :: is a function on a list, right? With any function with 1 argument in Scala, I can call it with infix notation. An example is 1 + 2 is a function (+) on the object Int. The class Foo I just defined does not have the :: operator, so how is the following possible: Foo(40) :: List(Foo(2)) ? In scala 2.8 rc1, I get the following output from the interactive prompt: scala> case class Foo(x:Int) defined class Foo scala> Foo(40) :: List(Foo(2)) res2: List[Foo] = List(Foo(40), Foo(2)) scala> I can go on and use it, but if someone can explain it I will be glad :)

• How to debug this?

  I have an application which takes measurements every second (I am running it in demo mode & generating random data, so the problem is not to do with reading from devices attached to the serial port). After 5 or 6 minutes it hangs. I have added try // entire body of procedure/function goes here except on E: Exception do begin MessageDlg('Internal coding error in <function name>()', mtError, [mbOK], 0); end; end; to every single function (and Application.Run() in the project file), but I don't see any message dialogs. Any idea how I can test this?

  Hello, I have to write a javascript function that is returning the current size (in px) of a div. Unfortunately the div has its weight specified in % instead of px. The style of the div: position: absolute; width: 100%; height: 100%; And my width returning function: function getTableWidth(tableId){ var tabWidth = document.getElementById('pt1::tabb').children[0].children[0].style.width; return tabWidth; } tabWidth is '100%'. Is it possible to return the px width instead of the % width ? NOTE: I don't have access to any html/css , as the page I am working on is generated through a complex framework. Well what's the right way to do it? someone could help me please. Module classes look like: class mod01 extends TestSystem { } thanks.

  So I was trying to compile a code which has a SHA1 function .. I included following header: #include <openssl/sha.h> And I got the following error while compiling: test.c:9:5: error: 'SHA1' is deprecated: first deprecated in OS X 10.7 [-Werror,-Wdeprecated-declarations] SHA1(msg, strlen(msg), hs); ^ But man pages still have the descriptions for that function. Can anyone suggest any other header for a similar function ( MD5 or SHA1 )? PS - also do I need to link any libraries while compiling using gcc?

• Unable to access static var from Document Class in AS3

  I have a Document class called "CityModule", and an asset with class "City". Below is the coe for each.   Hi there . I'm confusing about opening different threads with OpenThread Function and examining them with NtQueryInformationThread native function . I have no problem with NtQueryInformationThread & I can examine them finely. the problem is I don't know how to loop through different number of threads using OpenThread (with SetDebugPrivilege Consideration) . suppose we have different threads from number 5100 to 5200 & we want to examine them sequentially : for example 5100, 5101, 5102, 5103, 5104, 5105 ... 5200 ... . I don't know how to use OpenThread Function in delphi in right way ... . I'm using this syntax & I found it wrong : OpenThread(THREAD_ALL_ACCESS,false,(DWORD)5100) . if anyone could guide me how to use OpenThread though different number of threads it would be great . thanks alot .
