• Multiple X screens without Xinerama

  Is there some way to move Windows between separate X screens in Ubuntu 12.04? With 3 monitors on 2 GPUs, using Twinview is not an option. Xinerama allows me to drag windows between all monitors, but it also means that I lose all hardware acceleration. I don't expect to be able to drag windows between the screens and have them occupy two monitors simultaneously, but there must be some way to transfer a program while it is running. At the moment, I don't even know how to select which monitor it will use when launched. Any pointers?

  Customers can now choose when their applications receive new operating system updates and patches by selecting which version of the operating system their applications will run on in Windows Azure.  Right now there is only one available operating system version (released on December 17th, 2009), but new builds with the latest updates and patches will be released regularly.  This new feature allows developers to test their applications when new patches come out before upgrading their production deployments.   If you need to establish the status of the engine, begin with this SQL: select status, engine, engine_version,fore_column_name from dm.forecast_history The status of an engine run is stored in the FORECAST_HISTORY table, in the “status” field.  We can also find in that table the FORE_COLUMN_NAME field. This field includes the name of the column in SALES_DATA in which the relevant forecast is stored. Here are the possible statuses: -1, -2 : The engine failed in the initialization phase.  Which means, before the engine manager created the engines.  0 : The engine stopped in the optimization phase.  Which means, after the engines were created.  1: The engine finished the run successfully.  2: Forecast was never calculated for the relevant column that is mentioned in FORE_COLUMN_NAME.

• Booting 11.10 from USB stick on MacBook Pro 5,1 fails

  I've created a bootable memory stick on a Windows computer, and tested it on an HP PC. It's made from a 64-bit image of Ubuntu 11.10, downloaded from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download. When I boot from this memory stick, there is some kind of boot menu, where I can choose to run Ubuntu from the memory stick, or install. I select Run from memory stick. (the words may be wrong here, I'm taking it from memory.) From this point, the screen is black (but backlighted), and I can't do anything but turn off the computer. It gets hot, too. Has anyone been more successful than me? Are there known issues? The computer is a 15 inch MacBook Pro 5,1 (unibody, late 2008), 4 GB memory.

  im looking to install 10.04 over top the 11.04 partition, it wouldnt let. keeps giving me a "root file system not found" error ever time i manually select partition. (i have a win7 partition) 11.04 popped up after upgrade that my hardware isnt supported for unity. and i cant boot into it, hangs up on purple screen right after boot menu. if anyone can post a link to a how to guide or put it on here, would be great? im trying to take advantage of my nvidia geforce gt 120m (its a laptop) to play around with cuda/c++ programming!

To do so I was setting up an system plugin with the following directory structure: languageroot/languageroot.php languageroot/form/form.xml As you can see in the posted code, that is all very basic to try out. Is a system-plugin the right kind, or could it be a content plugin, or should it even be a component?

• Bridge made out of blocks at an angle

  I'm having a bit of trouble with the math behind my project. I want the player to be able to select 2 points (vectors). With these 2 points a floor should be created. When these points are parallel to the x-axis it's easy, just calculate the amount of blocks needed by a simple division, loop through that amount (in x and y) and keep increasing the coordinate by the size of that block. The trouble starts when the 2 vectors aren't parallel to an axis, for example at an angle of 45 degrees. How do I handle the math behind this? If I wasn't completely clear, I made this awesome drawing in paint to demonstrate what I want to achieve. The 2 red dots would be the player selected locations. • Xubuntu keeps loading on install with usb stick

  I'm trying to install Xubuntu on my computer. I've followed a guide to create a USB bootable drive. I've inserted the USB stick and started the computer. I can see Xubuntu loading and after a minute or 2 it shows me a screen asking me if I'd like to use the live version or if I'd like to install. I choose install. Then on the next screen I select English as language. When I click continue, Xubuntu just keeps loading. It doesn't really freeze as I can still quit and move the cursor. When I clicked quit, I see the live version and all is working just fine. I can browse the internet, etc. What could be wrong?

  My question relates to procedural content generation and data management of the emerging objects in a database. I assume a networked game, with a server-client model. Unspecified objects in the game world are generated while the game is running with procedural algorithms (for example perlin noise). The players (/clients) can modify the properties of these objects, but have to notify the server of these changes. How could this communication address unique objects, so that both the server and the client know of which object they are speaking? Not only the inner properties of the objects can differ, but also visible, such as the position. When the player wants to select one of these objects the game has to find out the id - does anyone know which methods or algorithms can accomplish that?

• Why do I get "No root file system is defined" when I try install in one partition?

  The thing is that I have 3 partitions on my computer. /dev/sda1 Type: ntfs (size 104MB; 35MB in use) [This is Windows Loader] /dev/sda2 Type: ntfs (size 144598MB; 64536MB in use) [Here I want to install UBUNTU] /dev/sda3 Type: ntfs (size 105353MB; 20227MB in use) [This my backup partition I don't wan't to delete anything from here, I have all my necessary information] So the problem is when I select "Device for boot loader installation" "/dev/sda2" Pops out: "No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu." How can I resolve this? :)

  My plan is to develop a web based application in the future. I think, i can named it "Booth Reservation System" for the Events companies here in our country. One of the main functionality of the system and the most tricky part/ difficult part is the user can upload a "floor plan"(the design of the area were the booth is located in any image format) then the user can select on the specific location on the floor plan to reserve the booth. Also, the user can create floor plan on the system as another functionality of the system. What do you think? What programming language that i can use to accomplished the system? thanks!

The JDBC-ODBC Bridge has always been considered transitional and a non-supported product[1] that was only provided with select JDK bundles and not included with the JRE. The JDBC-ODBC bridge provides limited support for JDBC 2.0 and does not support more recent versions of the JDBC specification. I would recommend that you use a JDBC driver provided by the vendor of your database or a commercial JDBC Driver instead of the JDBC-ODBC Bridge. • Share on Facebook does not show thumbnail images

  I have a PHP application which has a "Share on Facebook" button that, On the development server shows the thumbnail images correctly and allows the user to select between them On the live server, it does NOT show the thumbnail images at all. The relevant portion of the .htaccess file is: # Set up caching on media files for 2 days <FilesMatch "\.(gif|jpg|jpeg|png|flv)$"> ExpiresDefault A172800 Header append Cache-Control "public" </FilesMatch> I'm using the exact same set of php files and .htaccess, but the server configuration is different. What could be causing this? Note that the text appears fine. Edit1 We are also doing some URL rewriting related to images in the .htaccess (on both servers): ... • MVC shared model different required fields on different type

  I have a model called Car and depending on what type of Car the user select the view is presented differently. For example the user selects from a grid of different cars and depending if it is a Volvo or a Kia or a Ford the view must allow different fields to be editable. For example with a Volvo the color is editable and is mandatory but with a Kia it is not. I would like to use the one Car class to bind the view but want the client side validation to pick up the required fields based on what type of car. I want to go only to one Action method for the Update what is a good way to approach this problem...? create a base class and inherit from it? will this give me binding problems..?

• Uploading Files Using ASP.NET Web Forms, Generic Handler and jQuery

  In order to upload files from the client machine to the server ASP.NET developers use FileUpload server control. The FileUpload server control essentially renders an INPUT element with its type set to file and allows you to select one or more files. The actual upload operation is performed only when the form is posted to the server. Instead of making a full page postback you can use jQuery to make an Ajax call to the server and POST the selected files to a generic handler (.ashx). The generic handler can then save the files to a specified folder.   I have dual boot configured with Windows 7 (32bit) and Ubuntu 12.04(64bit). I installed Ubuntu after windows, now my windows is corrupt due to some virus and I need to reinstall it. Currently when I start my PC, grub loader comes up and I need to select Ubuntu or Windows. I was wondering how can I install windows again and still have my Ubuntu install? Is there a way to do this? I do not want to install Ubuntu again and lose my settings and data there. Thanks, Ketan

• eepc 100h ubuntu 12.04 external monitor higher resolution modes force a rotated display

  Hi I have a eeepc 1000h netbook. I've just installed ubuntu. I mainly use an external display (samsung ta350 full hd 22 inch affair) but when I select 1080 from the dropdown list, my only options are for a rotated portrait. My neck's non too supple, so tilting my head for extended periods is not really viable. :-) Any ideas on making ubuntu display 1080 normal landscape? It must surely be possible. My gparted boot cd does it perfectly. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers!

• Best approach to get clicked objects from a display list (2D)

  I'm implementing a display list to manage my visuals on screen. I want to know which object is clicked. My objects already have z-order variable. With my current knowledge (almost nothing) the only thing which comes to my mind is make a linear search and get all the objects which contains the clicked point. And then select the object with the highest z-order. But I know there are far better approaches. I think it's something with trees (binary search?). - container display objects and search recursively? just don't know where to start looking, for this concrete case. Any hint link or concrete solution is welcome.

• Problem in booting Windows Vista after repairing using a boot repair disk

  Been using Vista and I recently installed Ubuntu 11 in a separate hard disk(in BIOS, this hard disk was set for the 'Boot from' option)..Apart from the partitions used for Ubuntu, there are 2 more partitions(NTFS) in that hard disk..Then I installed Windows 7 on one of those partitions (just to see which Windows operating system I'd like to keep on using, along with Ubuntu)..But after installing Windows 7, the OS selection menu didn't appear anymore and had to fix it using the Boot-Repair-Disk... It kinda worked.. Now the OS selection menu is displayed..
