• Possible to simulate a NDMP backup?

  I like to try Amanda's and Bacula's NDMP backup features, but I don't wan't to try it out on the live NAS, just yet. Ideally would I like to find out which that suites me best, and get familiar with before trying to make a real NDMP backup from the NAS. Question Is it somehow possible to simulate a NDMP backup with some Linux hosts? Or formulated in another way: Does there exist a NDMP daemon I can install on a Linux host, so it pretends to be a NAS?

  We have a number of sites that have blogs, like domainA.com/blog domainB.com/blog and we host the blogs on wordpress multi user: our-separate-wordpress-site.com/domaina_blog our-separate-wordpress-site.com/domainb_blog for SEO reasons we really, really want domainA.com/blog to be the blog url, not the other path. But we don't see any examples where this is done, because we need not to just rewrite the traffic, but cookies as well... is this possible with a webserver or a reverse proxy?

  I have a bunch of programming projects on my P:\ drive (on Windows 7) I'm now doing some programming within Virtual PC Windows XP Mode and I'd like to "call" that drive, within the Win XP guest, the P: drive. I've mapped drive letter P: to "network" drive on the Host but that goes across the network so it's very slow. I tried using the SUBST command but it wouldn't take the \tsclients\p as a parameter. Basically, the command line interpreter (is that DOS on Win 7 ??) doesn't recognize that directory (\tsclients\p)

• Tomato VPN connect but cannot ping LAN IP

  I've setup TomatoVPN using these settings on the server: TAP UDP 1194 Client address pool 10.10.9.1 -10.10.9.254 LAN clients are configured with 10.10.10.x I can connect from a remote client, but pinging anything in the 10.10.10.x results in a "Destination Host Unreachable" error. • Raspberry Pi can't see external hard drive

  My Raspberry Pi (Model B) can't see my external hard drive. It was working before without a problem, until I disconnected and reconnected the drive. It is a self-powered hard drive. When I put another image on a different SD card the Raspberry Pi can see the hard drive no problem, so there is some sort of configuration issue in the current image on the SD card. Any advice will be gratefully received.

I need it to ignore the MX records and only send it to the server I specify but am not sure which files to edit or how to configure the sendmail config.   I'm running Metasploit from Win 7 x64, and I've set up my Metasploitable 2 virtual machine on VMware Player. I can ping Metasploitable's IP address from the Metasploit console, however if I use nmap it says: Note: Host seems down. If it is really up, but blocking our ping probles, try -Pn I try it with the -Pn switch, it says Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 0.64 seconds I've disabled my Windows firewall and I'm running Metasploit as admin. Why can't I nmap my virtual machine?

• Joining Windows 7 Professional to a Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 domain fails.

  I have a windows 7 professional (spanish) laptop trying to join a Windows Server 2003 (english) domain. It detect correctly the SRV record, finding the proper domain controller, but then the join fails with the error message (snippet, because the error is in spanish) An Active Directory Domain Controller for This Domain Could Not be Contacted The DNS is correctly set, and client can ping by name and IP the server, the server can ping the client by IP. I've tested with the FW down to no avail. A host of other XP Pro clients are connected to the domain. I've restarted Net Logon and checked that Windows Time is up. Also the times are in sync between the server and the client. I'll put below diagnostics output. I'm wondering if there's anything special to be done on either the server or the client to have a Win 7 Pro join a 2k3 R2 domain. • Excessive Outbound DNS Traffic

  I have a VPS system which I have had for 3 years on one host without issue. Recently, the host started sending an extreme amount of outbound DNS traffic to 31.193.132.138. Due to the way that Linode responded to this, I have recently left Linode and moved to 6sync. The server was completely rebuilt on 6sync with the exception of postfix mail configurations. Currently, the daemons run are as follows: sshd nginx postfix dovecot php5-fpm (localhost only) spampd (localhost only) clamsmtpd (localhost only) Given that the server was 100% rebuilt, I can't find any serious exploits against the above stated daemons, passwords have changed, ssh keys don't even exist on the rebuild yet, etc... it seems extremely unlikely that this is a compromise which is being used to DoS the address. The provided IP is noted online as a known SPAM source. My initial assumption was that it was attempting to use my postfix server as a relay, and the bogus addresses it was providing were domains with that IP registered as their nameservers. I would imagine given my postfix configuration that DNS queries for things such as SPF information would come in with equal or greater amount than the number of attempted spam e-mails sent. Both Linode and 6Sync have said that the outbound traffic is extremely disproportionate.   I see lots of documentation on how to manually set up a network bridge and then manually add vm's tun devices to these bridges and then write a shell script that glues it all together. lots of work, very manual, and not impressive. On the other hand if you want to use NAT to KVM+libvirt VMs to the network you just click the new network button in the virt-manager gui and relax. Am I missing "the easy way" of causing a VM to share the physical network with the host?

  Does anyone have experience running Xen dom0 on a more recent kernel than the stock 2.6.18? What host distro are you running? What release of Xen (or hg/git changeset)? What set of patches are you using on kernel source? (Has anyone got the pvops dom0 stuff working in production or is it better to stick with something like the SUSE patches? Any other tips and tricks to running a more recent kernel version as dom0 would be helpful.

  We have a simple load balancer set up on Rackspace to 3 web server nodes. After reviewing our traffic and expenses, the largest bandwidth hog is Google Bot. Since on Rackspace we pay for bandwidth by the byte, we'd like to direct all traffic from GoogleBot to another host (MediaTemple) with unlimited bandwidth. We think this would cut our hosting bill several thousand dollars a month. Is this possible? Advisable?
