  • Highlighting a Table Correctly Despite rowspan and colspan attributes - WITHOUT jQuery

    Thanks to some !#$#@ in another department who wrote some crap code, I am unable to use the jQuery library - despite my fervent desire to do so. Their software has already been released into the world, and I have to be compatible. ============================================ I am trying to highlight a table. Desired behavior: Clicking on a cell in the body highlights the row. Clicking on a cell in the head highlights the column. If a column and row are both highlighted, the intersection is highlighted a different color (super-highlight). Clicking on a previously super-highlighted cell turns off the highlights. This behavior is simple enough to do with a basic table, but when rowspans and colspans start rearing their ugly heads, things start to get a little wonky... highlighting cell[5], for instance, no longer works reliably. My thought, in order to speed execution time of the highlighting itself (by changing a class name), is to pre-calculate the 'offsets' of all cells - with a 'colStart' and 'colEnd', 'rowStart' and 'rowEnd' when the page loads and store that in an array somehow. The question: How would YOU implement this functionality? I am fairly rusty at my JavaScript, awfully rudimentary in my programming skills and would benefit greatly from some guidance.   • Odd Drag and drop sorting error Rails for nested attributes

    I've got this weird bug when trying to use drag and drag for two models (one nested within another). I've a category model which has many apps. In my category index page, I tried use "content_tag_for" to sort categories and apps within each category. But for some odd reason only the first element has drag, drop enabled. I can drag and drop categories all I want, but I can't drag the app in the second category, just the first category. Copy and paste gets ridiculously hopeless with HAML, so here's a Pastie instead. I made a sample app on heroku for you to check out here. Drag and drag work for both category and app, so I'm guessing it has to do something with the ul or li. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    SQL Server Edition: 2008 Enterprise Visual Studio: 2010 w/ .NET 4.0 SSMS 2008 Addin - Data Scripter project source code on CodePlex references Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll I have referenced the DLL under <<Microsoft SQL Server install location>>\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE But here is the oddity. Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlTools.VSIntegration.dll contains a namespace Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.VSIntegration, which in turn contains ServiceCache (public sealed). As soon as I add the reference, ServiceCache is highlighted (meaning there is no reference issue) But the problem arises when I compile the project and VS 2010 throws up an error that it cannot find ServiceCache. The name 'ServiceCache' does not exist in the current context Why is that ServiceCache is not visible during compile time but looks like it's available right after adding the assembly? And Reflector does show that ServiceCache is part of the assembly that the project is referencing, but Visual Studio intellisense fails to display it. Any had this kind of problem? [UPDATE] Some screenshots Reflector clearly shows ServiceCache But Visual Studio 2010 says, otherwise...

    There is two template in my .stg file, and both of them apply on multi-value a HashMap. The HashMap is employed as an injected object. And I need those instance of HashMap can be injected for many times. My trouble is, when I switch to another template, ANTLR seems to consider the second HashMap as a List -- multipul objects and null value. NULL bar: @ bar: @ If we replace BAR with FOO, as is, keeping FOO and BAR with identical template, the output is right, like the following. bar: Russell @ German bar: Russell @ German In docs, "synchronized ST add (String name, Object value) in org.stringtemplate.v4.ST" said: "If you send in a List and then inject a single value element, add() copies original list and adds the new value." What about a HashMap? Does ANTLR consider the HashMap, key/value pair access, an object purposely, as a List and as multi-value injected by mistake? Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm currently trying this as the value of the onmouseover attribute: this.className=#{(actions.currentlySelectedActionButton == 0)?'actionButton actionButtonChosen':'actionButton'}; whereas the CSS looks like this: (the relevant parts): .actionButton { width: 100%; height: 20px; border: thin solid #000; cursor:default; } .actionButtonChosen { background-color: blue; } It's not working.     Hi, I have a rails app and I'd like to be able to do something like task.labels.first.label_name to get the label name of a task. However, I get an undefined method label_name. I did a t = Task.first; t.labels.first.label_name in the console, and that worked so I'm not sure what's going on.     I am just getting started with NHaml and ran into a snag. This is my application.haml file: %html %head %title = Get Some Data %link{ href="/media/css/styles.css", rel="Stylesheet", type="text/css" } %body %div.page %h1 = Get Some Data _ When I try to view in a browser it throw the following error: NHaml.Exceptions.SyntaxException: The attribute ',' is occurs twice. If I remove the line beginning with %link it works fine. What am I doing wrong?   • How to setup default attributes in a ruby model

    I have a model User and when I create one, I want to pragmatically setup some API keys and what not, specifically: @user.apikey = Digest::MD5.hexdigest(BCrypt::Password.create("jibberish").to_s) I want to be able to run User.create!(:email=>"[email protected]") and have it create a user with a randomly generated API key, and secret. I currently am doing this in the controller, but when I tried to add a default user to the seeds.rb file, I am getting an SQL error (saying my apikey is null). I tried overriding the save definition, but that seemed to cause problems when I updated the model, because it would override the values. I tried overriding the initialize definition, but that is returning a nil:NilClass and breaking things. Is there a better way to do this?

  • dojo parser not escaping quotation marks in attributes?

    Whenever I'm using quotation marks inside an attribute value in dojo, it seems dojo's parser isn't handling it very well... <textarea name="content.locale['en']" dojoType="dijit.form.SimpleTextarea"> </textarea> Turns into: <textarea ]="" en="" name="content.locale["></textarea> With the surrounding <div>s and what not is added by the dijit widget. Any ideas? EDIT Seems this is working as it should with other elements, it's just the SimpleTextarea that's causing a problem..

What is the fastest/most efficient way to do this - is there a jQuery/js method that is reasonable for a large number of items? Or do I need to reengineer the Django code to do the work before passing it to the template?

  • Most optimized way to calculate modulus in C

    I have minimize cost of calculating modulus in C. say I have a number x and n is the number which will divide x when n == 65536 (which happens to be 2^16): mod = x % n (11 assembly instructions as produced by GCC) or mod = x & 0xffff which is equal to mod = x & 65535 (4 assembly instructions) so, GCC doesn't optimize it to this extent. In my case n is not x^(int) but is largest prime less than 2^16 which is 65521 as I showed for n == 2^16, bit-wise operations can optimize the computation. What bit-wise operations can I preform when n == 65521 to calculate modulus.

  • Execute code on assembly load

    I'm working on wrapper for some huge unmanaged library. Almost every of it's functions can call some error handler deeply inside. The default error handler writes error to console and calls abort() function. This behavior is undesirable for managed library, so I want to replace the default error handler with my own which will just throw some exception and let program continue normal execution after handling of this exception. The error handler must be changed before any of the wrapped functions will be called. The wrapper library is written in managed c++ with static linkage to wrapped library, so nothing like "a type with hundreds of dll imports" is present. I also can't find a single type which is used by everything inside wrapper library. So I can't solve that problem by defining static constructor in one single type which will execute code I need. I currently see two ways of solving that problem: Define some static method like Library.Initialize() which must be called one time by client before his code will use any part of the wrapper library. Find the most minimal subset of types which is used by every top-level function (I think the size of this subset will be something like 25-50 types) and add static constructors calling Library.Initialize (which will be internal in that scenario) to every of these types. I've read this and this questions, but they didn't helped me. Is there any proper ways of solving that problem? Maybe some nice hacks available?

  • Updating extra attributes in a has_many, :through relationship using Rails

    I've managed to set up a many-to-many relationship between the following models Characters Skills PlayerSkills PlayerSkills, right now, has an attribute that Skills don't normally have: a level. The models look something like this (edited for conciseness): class PlayerSkill < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :character belongs_to :skill end class Skill < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :player_skills has_many :characters, :through => :player_skills attr_accessible :name, :description end class Character < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user has_many :player_skills has_many :skills, :through => :player_skills end So nothing too fancy in the models... The controller is also very basic at this point... it's pretty much a stock update action. The form I'm looking to modify is characters#edit. Right now it renders a series of checkboxes which add/remove skills from the characters. This is great, but the whole point of using has_many :through was to track a "level" as well. Here is what I have so far: - form_for @character do |f| = f.error_messages %p = f.label :name %br = f.text_field :name %p = f.label :race %br = f.text_field :race %p = f.label :char_class %br = f.text_field :char_class %p - @skills.each do |skill| = check_box_tag "character[skill_ids][]", skill.id, @character.skills.include?(skill) =h skill.name %br %p = f.submit After it renders "skill.name", I need it to print a text_field that updates player_skill. The problem, of course, is that player_skill may or may not exist! (Depending on if the box was already ticked when you loaded the form!) From everything I've read, has_many :through is great because it allows you to treat the relationship itself as an entity... but I'm completely at a loss as to how to handle the entity in this form. As always, thanks in advance for any and all help you can give me!
