    We're currently building a new responsive website. While working on the site map, we figured that we don't want to show certain sections on mobile devices. This can be easily done by hiding the navigation parts using CSS/media queries. However, the trouble is that the hidden sites would still show up in search engine results. If a user happens to click on one of these links she might happen to see a badly formatted page as we'd use desktop/tablet only code to show images and video. Is there any way influence the search engines to exclude certain pages if the search is done on a mobile device? Do search engines crawl pages once or with a device specific view twice? Could we set a noindex meta tag for a specific device class?

    Lets say I have library "A2" as a dependency in a project. Library "A2" is derived from library "A1" where someone has done few changes to the library "A1" 's source code. Lets say there is a new version of "A1" I want to use the new version but no modification to its sourcecode at all. I am planning to identify what are the changes done to the original library when deriving library "A2" out of it and decorate the latest version of the library with those changes. Is it a good approach to solve this? if not can someone suggest the best approach to solve this kind of problems?

    I plan to create very simple custom IP-STS for SharePoint foundation 2010 without ADFS server so anyone can integrate Windows Live ID to SharePoint foundation 2010 simply without ADFS, I can't use ADFS server because it could not install on Windows Web Server 2008 (Web Edition), also I found many article use LDAP provider but it does not exists in SharePoint Foundation too (it requires Sharepoint Server Edition).     Hi, everyone I have a linux based traffic shaper (iptables + tc htb policy). It works in bridge mode. Shapes traffic based on IPs and ports (there are about 100 rules in the "mangle" chain of iptables). Right now its throughoutput is about 100 mb/s (I don't remember pps, there are about 800 users in the network). Just was wondering - when I will hit the limit. How much traffic could a linux-based shaper possibly get throuhg it. If you have one under heavy load, please could you write what machine you use and what load there is. Or if you have any other info about the subj, please write as well. Thanks in advance.

    Hi there! We are currently developing a apache2-based web application and want to invite some beta testers to give it a try. To be on the safe side, access should be provided by individual browser certificates (.p12) which are issued using a (fake) CA. Our users should be passing a complete register/login process and some of them will be granted administrative privileges within the application. That's why a preceding simple web-based authentication won't be sufficient. Atm, I am using a serverside shellscript to generate the certificates each time. Do you know about a small, web-based tool to simplify the process of generating / revoking those certificates? Maybe an overview of the CA's index.txt plus the option to revoke a cert and a link to download them directly?

  • Self-hosted browser-based remote desktop script?

    I need a self-hosted browser based remote desktop script that will connect me from any PC to my work PC. I need to either host this script within my own dedicated hosting or on my work PC. The PC that I need to remote into is always the one PC (Win7) and the IP never changes, and I have access to the Router/Firewall within. I have tried many remote desktop services and applications - LogMeIn, Team Viewer, (Ultra/Tight) VNC, GoToMyPC and iTeleport Connect and even Windows Remote Desktop - and the web services (or ports) are blocked at whatever free wi-fi/hotel/coffee shop I am at. Note that I will need to be able to access this from any PC, so I won't be able to install any applications (or use any portable software) - hence my thinking that it will need to be browser based on a standard (not blocked) port. If I can set up a web based remote desktop application - really a homebrew LogMeIn - then I should solve my problem. What is the best option here?

For this, I need a CLI-based monitoring tool that keeps me giving information about the resource usage of each VM, because it might be the case that due to over-provisioning of resources, VMs on a particular host are running very slowly depending on the benchmarks/programs each VM is running, and then I need to migrate a VM to another host and so on. I looked into libvirt-based tools like collects, MUNIN, Nagios-vert, etc.( http://libvirt.org/apps.html#monitoring ) I also looked into Ubuntu utility perf-kvm ( http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/maverick/man1/perf-kvm.1.html ) I want to ask which CLI-based would be recommended by the community so that I can make a automated scheduler that takes care of the above situation.

  • Looking for WYSIWYG tool to create and edit HTML5 based presentations (slides)

    There are a lot of different implementations for HTML5 based slide presentations out there, like Google Slides or S5. But all that I have seen so far, seem to need a person being able to (and willing to) read and write HTML-Code. My company still uses Powerpoint, but some people are quite unhappy about its limitedness, e.g. the lack of possibilites to embed animation (other than just appear/disappear) without using flash. I'd love to suggest a state-of-the-art solution based on HTML5, but I don't even need to think about suggesting a solution where the project people need a techie to add or edit the content of a slide. I am not looking for an editor for non-technies to create complex HTML5/javascript based animations, of course, those should be done by a developer... basically non-technies should be capable of doing the stuff they are doing in powerpoint now.     I need help for the below mentioned scenario: A Dot-matrix printer is physically connected to the Linux machine ( e.g. Ubuntu-10.04 , it can be any unix/linux flavour) From this linux machine, when I take a RDP to the Windows NT-4.0 TS, I run the DOS-based application. Now I want to print few pages from this DOS-based application to the Ubuntu's printer, When I am in RDP-Session. When I followed the samba-printing documentation, I am able to print from GUI-based apps like Notepad, MS WORD and so forth; but not able to print from the command prompt of Windows. Any idea how to do this ? [ WINDOWS MACHINE IS STRICTLY NT-4.0 2000 TS ]

I would like to have the requests being forwarded to the web servers behind the proxy based on the host header: webfront1.example.com > reverseproxy.example.com > backend1.example.com webfront2.example.com > reverseproxy.example.com > backend2.example.com webfront3.example.com > reverseproxy.example.com > backend3.example.com Based on what I have read, I can configure reverseproxy.example.com/webfront1 > backend1.example.com, reverseproxy.example.com/webfront2 > backend2.example.com, etc. I am wondering if proxy based on host header is even possible or if I used the wrong approach entirely.
