  I want to create two reports and submit the report data to database by using two functions defined in a class: Here I have two buttons: "Create ES" and "Create RP". Rightnow, my forms are working fine, I can insert data successfully, but the problem was when I click on submit after filling the form data, the content is hiding and displays the fist div content "cs_content" and again I need to onclick to submit again. Could anyone give a solution for this. Requirement : When I click on "Create CS", I should be able to fill the form and submit data successfully with a message within "cs_content" and any form input errors, the errors should display within "cs_content".   Consder this trivial example of fork()ing then waiting for a child to die in Perl #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; if (fork() == 0) { exit(1); } waitpid(-1,0); print $?; $perl test.pl 256 I suspect the values of are being shifted upwards because when I do exit(2) in the child, the output becomes 512 I can't seem to find this documented in perl's waitpid. • Performance implications of Synchronous Sockets vs Asynchronous Sockets

  We are trying to build an SMTP Server to receive mail notifications from various clients over internet. As each of the communication will be longer and it needs to log everything, doing this Asynchronous way is little challenging as well as by using Socket's Asynchronous methods we are not sure of how flow of control and error handling happens. Previously we wrote lot of server/client apps but we always used Synchronous sockets, reason being they are longer sessions and each session also has lot of local data to manage and parsing messages etc. Does anyone have any experience over real performance differences between these two methods? Async calls use ThreadPool which we have experienced many times to just die for no reason. And we fail to restart threadpool etc. In one way Request-Response protocol of HTTP, Async Sockets makes sense, but SMTP/IMAP etc protocols are longer and they have interleaved messages plus state machine of server. So Async methods are really complicated to program. However if anyone can share the performance of Sockets, it will be helpful.

  Hey everyone. This is my first post here, so I hope I'm doing it appropriately. I have several jQuery $.post calls that work just fine. They send data to a PHP script that modifies a database and returns some data. No problem. But this one doesn't work. The returned data is just NULL. $.post("act_addTaskLog.php", {description: $("#logFormDescription").val(), complete: $("#logFormComplete").is(':checked'), taskId: $("#logFormTaskId").val(), user: <?php echo $_SESSION['user']; ?>}, function(data) { alert("data: " + data); } ); I've tried everything I can think of, to no avail. I've even tried just one line in my PHP script: die("true"); Firebug shows that the script is being executed, but it's not completing. These URLs work fine when I load them in my browser, but I'm trying to pull them using CURL so I can access the charts on secure https websites.   I have a backend service and front-end services. They communicate via the trusted subsystem pattern. I want to transfer a username from the frontend to the backend and do this via username credentials as found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms730288.aspx This does not work in our scenerio where the front-end builds a backend service channel factory via: channelFactory = new ChannelFactory<IBackEndService>(.....); Creating a new channel is done via die channel factory. • Why not to use Array of errors instead of Exception Handling !?

  Why not using array of errors instead of throwing errors and check if it's not empty later in the code.... Exception handling is very confusing to me , I can not understand it's purpose ... can anybody enlighten me !? they compare it with die() as better not to stop the execution of the code , why would I stop the execution of code if I don't want to !? ofcourse I do I'm a beginner programmer , it might be confusing to you as well , or because i'm not very experienced in this ugly thing. Please in the context of PHP only.

• pyinstaller: 2 instances of my cherrypy app exe get executed.

  I have a cherrypy app that I've made an exe with pyinstaller. now when I run the exe it loads itself twice into memory. Watching the taskmanager shows the first instance load into about 1k, then a second later a second instance of hte exe loads into about 3k ram. If I close the bigger one both processes die. If I close hte smaller one only that one dies. Loading the exe with subprocess, if I try to proc.kill(), it only kills the small one leaving the other running in memory. Is this a sideeffect of using cherrypy and pyinstaller together?

Now I run a select query based on the insert and display it in a div on the guestbook.php page. That is where I cannot do it. All help appreciated. Thanks Jean

• Does throwing an exception in an EvalFunc pig UDF skip just that line, or stop completely?

  I have a User Defined Function (UDF) written in Java to parse lines in a log file and return information back to pig, so it can do all the processing. It looks something like this: public abstract class Foo extends EvalFunc<Tuple> { public Foo() { super(); } public Tuple exec(Tuple input) throws IOException { try { // do stuff with input } catch (Exception e) { throw WrappedIOException.wrap("Error with line", e); } } } My question is: if it throws the IOException, will it stop completely, or will it return results for the rest of the lines that don't throw an exception? Example: I run this in pig REGISTER myjar.jar DEFINE Extractor com.namespace.Extractor(); logs = LOAD '$IN' USING TextLoader AS (line: chararray); events = FOREACH logs GENERATE FLATTEN(Extractor(line)); With this input: 1.5 7 "Valid Line" 1.3 gghyhtt Inv"alid line"" I throw an exceptioN!! 1.8 10 "Valid Line 2" Will it process the two lines and will 'logs' have 2 tuples, or will it just die in a fire?

  I'm trying to install pylucene on Windows XP. I installed JDK on C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_18 . I also installed Visual Studio C++ Express to have a C++ compiler. • PHP PDO bindValue() weird problem

The code as it is above doesn't work, it doesn't return anything so the while loop isn't executed. If I replace $_GET['index'] with a number, like 10, it works just fine, it returns 10 rows. Echoing $_GET['index'] displays a number, so it should pass a number. I've also tried bindParam, but the result is same. Why isn't this working?

• Function parameter types in Python

  Unless I'm mistaken, creating a function in python works like this def my_func(param1, param2): /*stuff*/ However, you don't actually give the types of those parameters. Also, if I remember, python is a strongly typed language, as such, it seams like python shouldn't let you pass in a parameter of a different type then the function creator expected. However, how does python know that the user of the function is passing in the proper types? Or will the program just die if it's the wrong type, assuming the function actually uses the parameter? Or do you have to specify the type/I'm missing something? Thank you.

But does not actually add anything into the database table "staff" ? I must be missing something obvious here.
