  • Why am I getting "(304) Not Modified" error on some links when using HttpWebRequest?

    Hi, Any ideas why on some links that I try to access using HttpWebRequest I am getting "The remote server returned an error: (304) Not Modified." in the code? The code I'm using is from Jeff's post here. Note the concept of the code is a simple proxy server, so I'm pointing my browser at this locally running piece of code, which gets my browsers request, and then proxies it on by creating a new HttpWebRequest, as you'll see in the code. It works great for most sites/links, but for some this error comes up. You will see one key bit in the code is where it seems to copy the http header settings from the browser request to it's request out to the site, and it copies in the header attributes. Not sure if the issue is something to do with how it mimics this aspect of the request and then what happens as the result comes back? case "If-Modified-Since": request.IfModifiedSince = DateTime.Parse(listenerContext.Request.Headers[key]); break; I get the issue for example from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page thanks

  • Accessing the buffered request body in HttpWebRequest?

    By default HttpWebRequest has AllowWriteStreamBuffering set to true, which means that all data written to the request stream is buffered inside the object. I'd like to access this buffer of data after it has been written, but can't seem to find any way to do so. I'm happy for it to fail if AllowWriteStreamBuffering is false. Is there any way to do this, or is it not exposed anywhere?

    I am sick of doing blocks of code like this for various bits of code I have: if (dict.ContainsKey[key]) { dict[key] = value; } else { dict.Add(key,value); } and for lookups (i.e. key - list of value) if (lookup.ContainsKey[key]) { lookup[key].Add(value); } else { lookup.Add(new List); lookup[key].Add(value); } Is there another collections lib or extension method I should use to do this in one line of code no matter what the key and value types are? e.g. dict.AddOrUpdate(key,value) lookup.AddOrUpdate(key,value)

    Hi, Just trying to still get my head around IOC principles. Q1: Static Methods - Should util classes with static helper methods be wired up with IOC? For example if I have a HttpUtils class with a number of static methods, should I be trying to pass it to other business logic classes via IOC? Follow on questions for this might be: Q2: Singletons - What about things like logging where you may typically get access to it via a Logger.getInstance() type call. Would you normally leave this as is, and NOT use IOC for injecting the logger into business classes that need it? Q3: Static Classes - I haven't really used this concept, but are there any guidelines for how you'd typically handle this if you were moving to an IOC based approach. Thanks in advance.

  • quartz.net - Can I not add a callback delegate method to JobExecutionContext?

    Hi, BACKGROUND - I have a synchroisation function within my MainForm class. It gets called manually when the user pushes the SYNC button. I want to also call this synchroisation function when the scheduler triggers too, so effectively want SchedulerJob:IJob.Execute() method to be able to call it. QUESTION - How do I access the MainForm.Sychronization() method from within the SchedulerJob:IJob.Execute() method? I tried creating a delegate for this method in the MainForm class and getting it added via jobDetail.JobDataMap.   • Intellisense for custom config section problem with namespaces

    I have just rolled a custom configuration section, created an accompanying schema document for Intellisense and added it to the Web.config's Schemas property as per Michael Stum's answer to another similar question. Unfortunately, and possibly due to me creating the XSD by hand with limited knowledge, the Intellisense relies on an xmlns attribute pointing to my XSD file's namespace being present in the custom config element. However, when running the project I get an Unrecognized attribute 'xmlns'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive error. I could probably just modify my XSD file to define the xmlns attribute for that element, however I am wondering if this is just a bandaid fix to a larger problem. I must confess I don't have a very good understanding of XML namespaces so this might be an oppportunity to set me straight on a few things. Here is the attributes for my XSD file's root xs:schema element: <xs:schema id="awesomeConfig" targetNamespace="http://awesome.com/schemas" xmlns="http://awesome.com/schemas" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> ... </xs:schema> And on creating the element in the Web.config file, Visual Studio 2008 automatically appends: <awesomeConfig xmlns="http://awesome.com/schemas"></awesomeConfig> So have I misunderstood the meaning of the xs:schema attributes at all, or is the proper solution as simple as it seems?

    I'm extending the functionality of a jquery plugin (foo) with another jquery plugin (bar). Essentially, the first plugin specifies an onReady(): var foo = $.foo({ onReady: function() { alert('foo'); }}); Foo is sent to bar as a parameter to bar: var bar = $.bar(foo); I want bar to be able to hook into foo's onReady event: (function($) { $.extend({ bar: function(foo) { var foo = foo; // How to do alert('bar') when foo.onready is called? } }); })(jQuery); I can override foo's onready event: foo.onready = function() { alert('bar'); } But I don't want to override it, I want to extend it so that I'll see both alerts when foo is ready.     I am just messing around with reading input files with java until I got stumped at the most basic of steps... finding the input file! The input.txt file is in the same directory as my class file that is calling it yet eclipse still gives me an error that it cant be found: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException" My code: package pa; import java.util.Scanner; public class Project { public static void main(String[] args) { java.io.File file = new java.io.File("input.txt"); System.out.println(file.getAbsolutePath()); Scanner input = new Scanner(file); } } input.txt is in the same package, same folder and everything.   • ASP.NET UpdateProgress template does not disapper when panel in UpdatePanel has display set to none

    I am using very simple code where I have a update panel with some panels inside and a submit button. On submit, i hide one of the panels using this code: panel.Style.Add("display", "none"); I am also using a UpdateProgress which works great in all but this case. When i set the display to none using this code, the UpdateProgress template does not disappear! remove the line, all is well .... No idea why...

  • Timer Service in ejb 3.1 - schedule calling timeout problem

    Hi Guys, I have created simple example with @Singleton, @Schedule and @Timeout annotations to try if they would solve my problem. The scenario is this: EJB calls 'check' function every 5 secconds, and if certain conditions are met it will create single action timer that would invoke some long running process in asynchronous fashion. (it's sort of queue implementation type of thing). It then continues to check, but as long as long running process is there it won't start another one. I have the following Objective-C++ object @interface OCPP { MyCppobj * cppobj; } @end @implementation OCPP -(OCPP *) init { cppobj = new MyCppobj; } @end Then I create a completely differently obj which needs to use cppobj in a boost::shared_ptr (I have no choice in this matter, it's part of a huge library which I cannot change) @interface NOBJ -(void) use_cppobj_as_shared_ptr { //get an OCPP obj called occ from somewhere.. //troubling line here } @end I have tried the following and that failed: I tried synthesising cppobj. Then I created a shared_ptr in "troubling line" in the following way: MyCppobj * cpp = [occ cppobj]; bsp = boost::shared_ptr<MyCppobj>(cpp); It works fine first time around. Then I destroy the NOBJ and recreate it. When I for cppobj it's gone. Presumably shared_ptr decided it's no longer needed and did away with it. So I need help. How can I keep cppobj alive? Is there a way to destroy bsp (or it's reference to cppobj) without destroying cppobj?

I also create a lot of web services which are consumed via AJAX applications. Do these technologies really help you in speeding up development times? Do you still have to build the database or object code first?

  • Flash uploader that can handle >2GB files?

    Is there an open source Flash uploader that can handle files larger than 2 GB? ASP.net implementations like SlickUpload are not an option, and SWFUpload (and others that I've seen) do not handle files larger than 2 GB. Nor is requiring the user to have Java installed to run applets. This would be for both IE and Firefox. I've seen a couple "large file transfer" sites that have a Flash uploader and claim to go past the 2GB limit (which is the limit for http uploads for most browsers) so I know it is technically possible.

  • PHP: Next Available Value in an Array, starting with a non-indexed value

    I've been stumped on this PHP issue for about a day now. Basically, we have an array of hours formatted in 24-hour format, and an arbitrary value ($hour) (also a 24-hour). The problem is, we need to take $hour, and get the next available value in the array, starting with the value that immediately proceeds $hour. The array might look something like: $goodHours = array('8,9,10,11,12,19,20,21). Then the hour value might be: $hour = 14; So, we need some way to know that 19 is the next best time. Additionally, we might also need to get the second, third, or fourth (etc) available value. The issue seems to be that because 14 isn't a value in the array, there is not index to reference that would let us increment to the next value. To make things simpler, I've taken $goodHours and repeated the values several times just so I don't have to deal with going back to the start (maybe not the best way to do it, but a quick fix). I have a feeling this is something simple I'm missing, but I would be so appreciative if anyone could shed some light. Erik

  • Need to work out database structure

    Hi, Just need a little kickstart with this. I have Mysql/PHP, and I have 5,000 products. I have 30 companies I need to store some data for those 30 companies for each product as follows: a) prices b) stock qty I also need to store data historically on a daily basis. So the table... It makes sense that the records will be the products because there's 5000, and if I put the companies as the columns, I can store the prices, but what about the stock quantities? I could create two columns for each compoany, one for prices, one for qty. Then make the tablename the date for that day...so theer would be a new table for every day with 5000 products in it? is this the correct way? Some idea on how I'll be retreiving data the top 5 lowest prices (and the company) by product for a certain date the price and stock changes in the past 7 days by product

  • How do I save user specific data in an asp.net site?

    I just set up user profiles using asp.net 3.5 using wvd. For each user I would like to store data that they will be updating every day. For example, every time they go for a run they will update time and distance. I intend to allow them to also look up their history of distance and time from any past date. My question is, what does the database schema usually look like for such a set up? Currently asp.net set up a db for me when I made user profiles. Do I just add an extra table for every user? Should there be one big table with all users data? How do I relate a user I'd to their specific data? Etc.... I have never done this before so any ideas on how this is usually done would be very helpful. Thank you.
