• insert a BLOB via a sql script ?

  Hi, I have an H2 database (http://www.h2database.com) and I'd like to insert a file into a BLOB field via a plain simple sql script (to populate a test database for instance). I know how to do that via the code but I cannot find how to do the sql script itself. I tried to pass the path , i.e. INSERT INTO mytable (id,name,file) VALUES(1,'file.xml',/my/local/path/file.xml); but this fails. Within the code (java for instance), it's easy to create a File object and pass that in, but directly from a sql script, I'm stuck... Any idea ? David

• store multiple id's from first aspx page to next aspx page

  i have my first aspx page that has data thatthe user fills in. it is in format of textbox's and at the end of it all the user clicks submit and all data goes in the database. In the database each record gets an ID field. Now when the users clicks submit and goes to the next page, i want the ID's (they could be 1 to 1000+) from the DB that he just inserted and have them available on the second page. how can i take all the id's from page 1 to page 2? can i do it in session? or something else. Please put some sample code so i can understand better.

• jQuery.load() Retrieving partial page content causes duplicate ID in DOM

  Hello all, I currently have a JS function that allows me to load partial content from another page into the current page using jQuery.load() However I noticed when using this that I get a duplicate ID in the DOM (when inspecting with FireBug) This function is used in conjuction with a Flash Building viewe so it does not contain any code to retrieve the URL from the anchor tag. function displayApartment(apartmentID) { $("#apartmentInfo").load(siteURL + apartmentID + ".aspx #apartmentInfo", function () { //re-do links loaded in $("a.gallery").colorbox({ opacity: "0.5" }); }); } The code above works just fine in retrieving the content, however it just bugs me that when inspecting with firebug I get something like this. <div id="apartmentInfo"> <div id="apartmentInfo"> <!-- Remote HTML here..... --> </div> </div> Can anyone please suggest anything on how to remove the duplicate div? • Getting the record ID just added with mysql prepared statements

  I'm inserting a record using PDO (very similar to mysqli). $addRecord->execute(); To know if the operation worked, I've learned that I can save it to a variable $result that can be used as true false $result = $addRecord->execute(); if ($result){ //add successful } else { //add unsuccessful } What I'd like to do is also get the record id just added. In the table, each record has an auto_incremented field called id. I tried doing this $new_id = $result['id']; but it seems that $result is purely boolean and doesn't actually hold the actual record that was added. Can someone confirm this and how would I then access the record just added? Note that several people may be adding to the same table at the same time, so I think getting just the last one would not be very accurate.

  Hi, i've being banging my head against the desk all day with the following Nhibernate problem. Each bank account has one (and only one) set of rates associated with it. However, when a new BankAccount is created , the insert statement fails with; Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'BankAccountId' The issue appears to be that the child object , AccountRate is created first and since it hasn't yet got an identifier from its uncreated parent , the insert fails. I think i'm correct in saying that if the AccountRate property on BankAccount was a collection i could use the following ? Inverse=True in order to force the parent to be inserted first. Can anyone help me with this? i Really dont want to use a collection as there is only a unidirectional one to one relationship between these tables. Thanks Paul

  Hello I'm using a RichFaces <rich:insert like this: <rich:panel header="my head"> <a4j:outputPanel ajaxRendered="true"> <rich:insert src="#{MyBacking.myPath}" highlight="groovy" /> </a4j:outputPanel> </rich:panel> If I have a 60k file to output, it takes 23 seconds. I've got a requirement to output the contents of some larger files than that and obviously the larger the file, the larger the wait for content. The recommendation in the answer to another related question is to introduce paging. I will, but the question is, why does it take so long to output 60k of text using JSF/RichFaces? That is, reading off a local disk with Windows XP SP2 PC - I can see from the log the data has already been written to disk from the network. Other scripting languages appear to be faster than this - is it something to do with the JSF lifecycle having to handle the text maybe? Thanks

  I have a file of about 30000 lines of data I want to load into a sqlite3 database. Is there a faster way that generating insert statements for each line of data? The data is space delimited and maps directly to the sqlite3 table. Is there any sort of bulk insert method for adding volume data to a database? Has anyone devised some deviously wonderful way of doing this if it's not built in? I should preface this by asking is there a c++ way to do it from the API? Thanks.

When I use a System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource and call its Insert() method to insert a new row, and that table has an identity column, I'd like my method to return the value of that column. For example, in my SQL 2005 table, I've got: Customer.Id Customer.FirstName Customer.LastName Where Customer.Id is an identity colum. When I call my method InsertNewCustomerRecord( "John", "Smith" ), I'd like to be able to return the Customer.Id that gets automatically generated in the database.   I am testing the speed of inserting multiple rows with a single INSERT statement. For example: INSERT INTO [MyTable] VALUES (5, 'dog'), (6, 'cat'), (3, 'fish) This is very fast until I pass 50 rows on a single statement, then the speed drops significantly. Inserting 10000 rows with batches of 50 take 0.9 seconds. Inserting 10000 rows with batches of 51 take 5.7 seconds. My question has two parts: Why is there such a hard performance drop at 50? Can I rely on this behavior and code my application to never send batches larger than 50? My tests were done in c++ and ADO.

• Slow insert speed in Postgresql memory tablespace

  Hi, I have a requirement where I need to store the records at rate of 10,000 records/sec into a database (with indexing on a few fields). Number of columns in one record is 25. I am doing a batch insert of 100,000 records in one transaction block. To improve the insertion rate, I changed the tablespace from disk to RAM.With that I am able to achieve only 5,000 inserts per second. I have also done the following tuning in the postgres config: Indexes : no fsync : false logging : disabled Other information: - Tablespace : RAM - Number of columns in one row : 25 (mostly integers) - CPU : 4 core, 2.5 GHz - RAM : 48 GB I am wondering why a single insert query is taking around 0.2 msec on average when database is not writing anything on disk (as I am using RAM based tablespace). Is there something I am doing wrong? Help appreciated. Prashant

I know you can do this in multiple statements, but there must be a better way. my results are returned ordered by date and I want to return the pagination chunk that contains a given id. So I could, for example, select the date of the given id and then select a chunk of results where date is less than or greater than the date. That would work. But is there some native mysql method of doing this sort of thing in one statement? It just seems reasonable to expect that we could ask for X results in which a given id exists if results are ordered by date.

  Hello, I have the following Groovy+SwingBuilder code. In one panel I generate checkboxes and in another panel I want to access the values of the checkboxes. The code looks basically likes this: def optionsmap = [ foo : "value_foo", bar : "value_bar"] SwingBuilder.build() { frame(title:'demo1', size:[400,700], visible:true, defaultCloseOperation:WC.EXIT_ON_CLOSE) { gridLayout(rows: 1, cols: 2) panel(id:'optionPanel', constraints:java.awt.BorderLayout.CENTER) { gridLayout(rows: 5, cols: 1) myGroup = buttonGroup(); for (entry in optionsmap) { checkBox(id: entry.key, text: entry.value ) } } panel(constraints:java.awt.BorderLayout.WEST) { button ('Show values', actionPerformed: { for (entry in optionsmap) { println (entry.key as Class).text } }) } } } optionsmap is a map with (id, text) pairs that can be extended. When I press "show values" I get an error message: org.codehaus.groovy.runtime.typehandling.GroovyCastException: Cannot cast object 'foo' with class 'java.lang.String' to class 'java.lang.Class' How could I access the checkboxes for my action in the second panel by using the checkbox ids from optionsmap?   UPDATED: Using sed, how can I insert (NOT SUBSTITUTE) a new line on only the first match of keyword for each file.
