  • Reloading a JTree during runtime

    I create a JTree and model for it out in a class separate to the GUI class. The data for the JTree is extracted from a file. Now in the GUI class the user can add files from the file system to an AWT list. After the user clicks on a file in the list I want the JTree to update. The variable name for the JTree is schemaTree. I have the following code for the when an item in the list is selected: private void schemaListItemStateChanged(java.awt.event.ItemEvent evt) { int selection = schemaList.getSelectedIndex(); File selectedFile = schemas.get(selection); long fileSize = selectedFile.length(); fileInfoLabel.setText("Size: " + fileSize + " bytes"); schemaParser = new XSDParser(selectedFile.getAbsolutePath()); TreeModel model = schemaParser.generateTreeModel(); schemaTree.setModel(model); } I've updated the code to correspond to the accepted answer. The JTree now updates correctly based on which file I select in the list.

  • How to transfer Netbeans Project into Eclipse?

    I have been using Netbeans for my java desktop application since few months. Now in the middle of the project, I want to switch over to Eclipse as the Netbeans once corrupted my GUI and I had to re-create several parts of the GUI and now it is displaying a compiler error as code too large private void initComponents() { 1 error "code too large" is a strange error. My code which it is saying too large is just 10,000 lines long. I came to know first time that we couldn't develop long code in Netbeans :) So instead of going into detail, I want to switch to Eclipse. I have never used it before. So could please tell me how to import my incompleted Netbeans project into eclipse.

  • Is it possible to have a JPanel over JTable

    Hello, I have a JTable whose associated TableModel could be initially empty. Therefore, it currently shows a JTable with its columns and no rows. In order to fill this JTable, I want the user to drag and drop elements from another component. The problem is that I would like to hint the user that he/she should drag elements to this table, with some message like "Drag xxx here to add a row". I thought that I could achieve this by putting a panel over the JTable , but I don't think it is possible with any java layout. Does anyone know how to do this? Or should I stick to a CardLayout to switch to/from the hint and the JTable? Thanks a lot

  • JSplitPane giving wrong resize cursor with GTK LAF?

    Running the official JSplitPane demo http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/splitpane.html on my Ubuntu system gives a resize cursor like -- over the divider. The behavior of native split panes gives <-- resize cursors. Does this qualify as a bug that should be reported to Sun (eh, Oracle)? Is there a workaround?

    I would like to filter a JTable, but I don't understand how I can do it. I have read How to Use Tables - Sorting and Filtering and I have tried with the code below, but with that filter, no rows at all is shown in my table. And I don't understand what column it is filtered on. private void myFilter() { RowFilter<MyModel, Object> rf = null; try { rf = RowFilter.regexFilter(filterFld.getText(), 0); } catch (java.util.regex.PatternSyntaxException e) { return; } sorter.setRowFilter(rf); } MyModel has three columns, the first two are strings and the last column is of type Integer. How can I apply the filter above, consider the text in filterFld.getText() and only filter the rows where the text is matched on the second column? I would like to show all rows that starts with the text specified by filterFld.getText(). I.e. if the text is APP then the JTable should contain the rows where the second column starts with APPLE, APPLICATION but not the rows where the second column is CAR, ORANGE.   • Fonts, goes back to default size

  • getting JSlider bar to move on mouse click event

    Hi, I have a JSlider which shows bet sizes (for a poker game) I am trying to achieve the effect that when a mouse click occurs the slider jumps forward by a bet amount (i.e. a big blind amount) rather than just incrementing by one. If the mouse click happens to the left of the bar i want it to decrement by a fixed amount else increment. I looked into attaching a mouse listener, but do not know how I can use the event to find out on what side of the bar the mouse was clicked. Any ideas?

    How do I get a JLabel displaying a HTML string to appear greyed out (which is the behaviour of JLabels that don't display HTML text)? Is there another way than actually changing the colour myself by modifying the foreground property? From what I gather, it seems that Java doesn't support automatic greying out of JLabels when they use HTML text. Suraj's solution has come closest to the fix considering the limitations. I have however, tried a different out-of-the box approach, where I have put the HTML text JLabels inside of an inner JPanel and did this: mInnerPanel.setEnabled(shouldShow); //shouldShow is a boolean value Which hasn't worked.   • disable scrolling to cell in focus

    I have a jtable inside of a scrollpane. how can i stop the scrollpane from scrolling up or down when a cell that is partly out of view gains focus? the problem is i am setting the cells to editable when the user mouses over them, so when you mouse over a cell that's partly out of view, the view changes suddenly. I don't like this behaviour. any ideas on how to change it?

  • How do I determine if a JDialog has children?

    I've got a custom window class that is a couple levels down extending a JDialog. We have windows that we create and sometimes we create new windows as children of existing windows using the constructor that takes a parent argument. I need to put some code somewhere in our custom class that does something different depending on whether not the window has children. I know of getParent(), etc, and I can see that I can loop through the components of the window, but for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how to determine whether or not my current window has any child windows. Is there a way to do this? Any help is, as always, much appreciated.
