  • Working with extra fields in an Inline form - save_model, save_formset, can't make sense of the diff

    - by magicrebirth
Suppose I am in the usual situation where there're extra fields in the many2many relationship: class Person(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) class Group(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) members = models.ManyToManyField(Person, through='Membership') class Membership(models.Model): person = models.ForeignKey(Person) group = models.ForeignKey(Group) date_joined = models.DateField() invite_reason = models.CharField(max_length=64) # other models which are unrelated to the ones above.. class Trip(models.Model): placeVisited = models.ForeignKey(Place) visitor = models.ForeignKey(Person) pleasuretrip = models.Boolean() class Place(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=128) I want to add some extra fields in the Membership form that gets displayed through the Inline. These fields basically are a shortcut to the instantiation of another model (Trip). Trip can have its own admin views, but these shortcuts are needed because when my project partners are entering 'Membership' data in the system they happen to have also the 'Trip' information handy (and also because some of the info in Membership can just be copied over to Trip etc. etc.). So all I want to have is two extra fields in the Membership Inline - placeVisited and pleasuretrip - which together with the Person instance will let me instantiate the Trip model in the background... I found out I can easily add extra fields to the inline view by defining my own form. But once the data have been entered, how and when to reference to them in order to perform the save operations I need to do? class MyForm(forms.ModelForm): place = forms.ModelChoiceField(required=False, queryset=Place.objects.all(), label="place",) pleasuretrip = forms.BooleanField(required=False, label="...") class MembershipInline(admin.TabularInline): model = Membership form = MyForm def save_model(self, request, obj, form, change): place = form.place pleasuretrip = form.pleasuretrip person = form.person .... # now I can create Trip instances with those data .... obj.save() class GroupAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): model = Group .... inlines = (MembershipInline,) This doesn't seem to work... I'm also a bit puzzled by the save_formset method... maybe is that the one I should be using? Many thanks in advance for the help!!!!

  • Auto log off windows machine after certain number of minutes

    - by Marty Heath
I have three machines on my network, two are windows xp and one is windows 7. i would like to have all three machines log a user off if they are on for more than 60 minutes. And I would like this to be applied to the machine not on a per user basis, because I do not want this policy to apply to those users on any other machine. I have installed winexit.scr on one of the machines but the problem is that I cannot change the default value of 10 minutes for the screensaver because that is controlled through group policy, and I cannot seem to find where to change that through group policy on a per machine basis NOT on a per user basis. If I have left out any details I apologize please let me know anything that is needed

  • Massive speed diff in upgrade to Java 7

    - by Brett Rigby
We use Java within our build process, as it is used to resolve/publish our dependencies via Ivy. No problem, nor have we had with it for 2 years, until we've tried to upgrade Java 6 Update 26 to Version 7 Update 7, whereas a build on a local developer PC (WinXP) now takes 2 hours to complete, instead of 10 minutes!! Nothing else has changed on the PC, making it the absolute target for our concerns. Does anyone know of any reason as to why version 7 of Java would make such a speed difference like this?

  • Do I need to retain Sharepoint usage analysis log files

    - by dunxd
Our Sharepoint installation currently has 30Gb of Usage Analysis Log file - these date back about six months. I have configured Sharepoint to do Usage Analysis Processing every night, so I am wondering whether I need to keep these files for so long. Sharepoint doesn't seem to clean up these files automatically - I think six months ago I had to clear out logs due to disk space issues. So my question is, do I need to retain these files in order to get decent usage analysis reports, or can I delete them as soon as the usage analysis processing has completed?

  • Filtering Client IP from Access Log for Urchin

    - by Ram Prasad
I have some apache logs to process, and since the webserver behind two levels of reverse proxies, I am getting two IPs in the X-Forwarded-For header.. for example: 208.34.234.55, 127.0.0.1 - - [29/Oct/2009:21:38:13 -0500] "GET /monkey.html HTTP/1.0" 200 20845 0 0 "http://www.monkey.com/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.15) Gecko/2009101601 Firefox/3.0.15 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)" Now, how do I filter this in Urchin (or remove this in Apache logging) so, 127.0.0.1 is removed from processing. Currently urchin is not able to recognize the multuple IP address so it does not log the remote IP

  • WinXP on VPC - Unable to change the way users log on or off

    - by kamleshrao
On my Win7 computer, I have setup a new Win-XP VPC. In the VPC window, when I click Ctrl+Alt+Del, it shows me Windows Task Manager. As per MS KB [ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281980 ], we can change this behavior to show the regular Windows Security window. But while making this change, I am getting the following error: User Accounts Fast User Switching cannot be turned off from a remote connection to this computer. Log on to the computer locally to turn off Fast User Switching. OK Is there any way I can fix this setting?

  • A good log file analyzer for windows

    - by Raminder
Is there a text-editor for windows that can open for me first n lines of a large file? It would be nice if it could also open a set of lines from the middle of the file. EDIT: Basically my requirement is that I want to analyze huge(2GB) log files. So any good tool that can open huge files with some analysis capabilities(searching, text highlighting etc.) would be nice. I like notepad++ but it wouldn't open a file even of about 650 MB. P.S. - Open source tools will be preferred.

  • Tortoise SVN diff two trees

    - by Midhat
Hi Consider the following situation Code was added to the trunk at revision x A branch was created The modifications of rev x were removed from trunk in rev x+10 trunk and branch goes their own ways till rev x+100 Now we need to update the branch with changes form the trunk The problem with a simple "merge a range of revisions" is that due to step 3, the initial branch modifications are being removed. Is there any way to work around this without resorting to manual merge. Version Info: TortoiseSVN 1.6.7, Build 18415 - 32 Bit , 2010/01/22 17:55:06 Subversion 1.6.9,

  • "Deny log on through Terminal Serivces" insists on "Everyone"

    - by Trueblood
We've got a standalone (non-domain) server where "Deny log on through Terminal Services" contains "Everyone" -- ok, we didn't want that, not sure how it got set, but whatever. We removed it ...and "Everyone" came back. Tried adding "Guest" to the deny list, removing "Everyone" ...which ended up with the setting containing "Everyone, Guest" Clearly there's another setting somewhere that's preempting this one, but it beats me which one. Any ideas? ("Everyone" is being shown as reset upon reloading the Local Security Settings window, so it's possible that it's not actually being changed in the underlying store, and just shows the change in the UI)

  • Log incoming requests on Ubuntu (ports 80, 443)

    - by Maxim Eliseev
We have Tomcat running on Ubuntu server. It runs a web service, open to the internet. Sometimes it has a sudden spike of traffic and goes down. There is nothing unusual in Tomcat access logs. I guess it is because some of the requests are so 'heavy' that they never finish and hence are not recorded to Tomcat access logs. Is there a way to configure Ubuntu to log incoming requests in the following format (below)? Date, Time, URL (with query string params), IP address (of client) There should be one line per request. Each request should be logged before it is executed. Only incoming requests to ports 80 and 443 should be logged.

  • Log highlighted lines to window in irssi

    - by Sebastian P.
I usually keep an irssi session running on my server at all times. Often times it also takes me quite a while between remembering that I in fact have it running. Therefore I'd like to know if there's an easy way to log all lines that are highlighted to a custom window, such that I later, when I return, can see what people have said that was directed at me. Most useful would of course be if it logged both nickname, time and place (channel, network) of the message. I've been looking around, and haven't managed to get anything working which accomplishes this, so it would be splendid if such a thing existed.

  • Mac OS X desktop background gets reset to "Andromeda Galaxy.jpg" when users log out

    - by smokris
I'm running Mac OS 10.6 server, and have a set of 10.6 and 10.7 workstations connected to it for authentication and MCX. Users have network profiles (home folder stored on server, via AFP). When users are logged in, they can change their desktop background. So far so good. However, the next time they log in, their desktop background has been reset to "Andromeda Galaxy.jpg". Though MCX is enabled and used to control other settings, MCX is disabled for the Desktop. What is keeping the users' desktop background from being preserved? How can I fix it?

  • Ping Flooding in router log

    - by Freeman
I've had recently a period of repeated disconnections from my router with connection problems. I checked my router log I found several Ping Flooding entries all originating from the IP 69.171.227.232 which turned out to be one of Facebook IPs! I'm wondering what does that means? Can Facebook chat cause such a condition? My router is DLink dir 600 and the condition that devices were disconnected from router, not router from internet.. Connection is WAN And how to solve this router problem?? My wifi clients were about 3-5 at that time..

  • Server Running but unable to log in to it

    - by Funky Si
I have a Windows Server 2003 server that is running sql server. Users can access the databases running on it fine, but I am unable to log on to it by remote desktop or directly at the machine. I am able to view the event logs remotely and I can't see anything that shouts out as being a problem. What options can people think of for regaining access to this server or finding out more information about the problem? I am able to reinstall the operating system but would like to leave that as a last resort.

  • Oracle redo log performance degradation when inserting

    - by Aldarund
I have a oracle 11g database. I'm testing in for inserts. The database running in noarchive mode. I have 3 redo log configured, each 2gb. I'm trying to insert data into test table. At begin it goes fine with 15k ins/second. I make a commit after 200 inserts. But after about 1.3m inserted records it become really slow, about 1-2k ins/second. As i noticed in resource explorer at this point we have filled all redo logs and so the inserts from this points work slow. So my question is why it become so slow when it fills redo logs, even if i commit each 200 records. And how this situation can be fixed ( except the turning off logging completely at inserts)

  • Modify PATH variable for X11 during log-in

    - by user1028435
I am working on some lab computers (read: no administrative rights) that, if I log in, I need to change the PATH variable as X11 starts. The reason is that I need to change the PATH variable at this time, as opposed to later, is that the Print Screen command seems to "bind" during login (forgive my bad explanation of this). Currently, I have a .bashrc script as a workaround: #!/bin/bash export PATH=/home/username/bin:$PATH I can make it work by starting a new X, but I was wondering if it is possible to change upon login. cat /etc/redhat-release tells me my distribution is: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.8 (Tikanga)

  • Time diff calculations where date and time are in seperate columns

    - by pedalpete
I've got a query where I'm trying to get the hours in duration (eg 6.5 hours) between two different times. In my database, time and date are held in different fields so I can efficiently query on just a startDate, or endDate as I never query specifically on time. My query looks like this SELECT COUNT(*), IFNULL(SUM(TIMEDIFF(endTime,startTime)),0) FROM events WHERE user=18 Sometimes an event will go overnight, so the difference between times needs to take into account the differences between the dates as well. I've been trying SELECT COUNT(*), IFNULL(SUM(TIMEDIFF(CONCAT(endDate,' ',endTime),CONCAT(startDate,' ',startTime))),0) FROM events WHERE user=18 Unfortunately I only get errors when I do this, and I can't seem to combine the two fields into a single timestamp.

Everything works fine, seachd starts and responds to the queries. But how to make logs to be less repetitive? When I start Sphinx manually it prints the "precached 9 indexes" just once.
