  • Animation API vs frame animation

    I'm pretty far down the road in my game right now, closing in on the end. And I'm adding little tweaks here and there. I used custom frame animation of a single image with many versions of my sprite on it, and controlled which part of the image to show using rectangles. But I'm starting to think that maybe I should've used the Animation API that comes with android instead. Will this effect my performance in a negative way? Can I still use rectangles to draw my bitmap? Could I add effects from the Animation API to my current frame-controlled animation? like the fadeout-effect etc? this would mean I wont have to change my current code. I want some of my animations to fade out, and just noticed that using the Animation API makes things alot easier. But needless to say, I would prefer not having to change all my animation-code.   • Why do arrays in java choose the biggest? [closed]

I don't get it if max was 99, then the last one that is lesser than min is 2? How did this array choose to pick the smallest and the biggest? Can someone explain?

But the sections are not growing to accomodate the content inside of them. Both of these are floated left and cleared. The rows of the left and right table have a field and value which are also floated left and right and cleared. At this point, I expect "first section" to grow as the content inside of it grows. But instead the height is stuck at 22px, the same height as the section title! What is going on? I tried overflow:auto for div.section and that worked. But when I tried to set this style for div.settings in "first section": div.data div.first div.settings { position: relative; top: 1em; } I end up with these scroll bars, instead of the height growing to fit the new changes. And everything was out of whack. I am really at my wit's end trying to figure this out. If anyone can give me any suggestions on what I am doing wrong, it would be a great help. Thanks.

  • Differences between KVR16N11H/8 and KVR16N11/8 memory except for height?

    I accidentally ordered KVR16N11/8 instead of KVR16N11H/8 and I'm wondering if I'm going to have compability issues with my Intel DP67DE motherboard. When searching for compatible RAM on Kingstons site for that motherboard the KVR16N11H/8 RAM was one of the compatible ones. The KVR16N11/8 did not show up as compatible for that motherboard. The only difference I can see is that they have different physical height, or am I missing something?

  • Change Windows 7 start menu height depending on monitor size?

    I know I can change the height of the Windows 7 Start Menu so that includes more or fewer recently used apps, etc. But I have a netbook with a tiny screen that I plug into a decent sized LCD most of the time at home. Is there a way to get Win7 to use a taller Start menu with more items when I'm using the LCD and a shorter Start menu with fewer items when using the netbook's built in screen? (I'm a programmer so capable of technical solutions if there's no ready-made solution.)

  • Rails 2 and Ngnix: https pages can't load css or js (but will load graphics)

    ADMISSION: i've posted this same question on stackoverflow, before realising it's probabaly better suited to superuser, but it kind of depends on the answer: If it turns out to be a problem in my nginx config, it's definitely superuser. If it turns out to be a problem in my Rails config (or code) then it's arguably stackoverflow. I'm adding some https pages to my rails site. In order to test it locally, i'm running my site under one mongrel_rails instance (on 3000) and nginx. I've managed to get my nginx config to the point where i can actually go to the https pages, and they load. Except, the javascript and css files all fail to load: looking in the Network tab in chrome web tools, i can see that it is trying to load them via an https url. Eg, one of the non-working file urls is https://cmw-local.co.uk/stylesheets/cmw-logged-out.css?1383759216 I have these set up (or at least think i do) in my nginx config to redirect to the http versions of the static files. This seems to be working for graphics, but not for css and js files. If i click on this in the Network tab, it takes me to the above url, which redirects to the http version. So, the redirect seems to be working in some sense, but not when they're loaded by an https page. Like i say, i thought i had this covered in the second try_files directive in my config below, but maybe not.   • CSS Layout-- Make table cell contents appear in row below and set height of parent row/cell

    I am modifying a skin for the CKEdit component so that the toolbar is hidden unless clicked. To do so, I moved the toolbar collapser to the row below it using position: relative and top:18px. My goal is to have the parent tr of the anchor element a height of 2px, but keep the anchor at 11px. Is this possible? I cannot alter the DOM, just the styles.   • Does IE6 Really not Allow Me to set width/height from left/right/top/bottom???

    Building a site super quick and having it work on all my Mac browsers, I thought I'd take a gander on a friends old dell laptop with Windows XP and IE6. Nothing looks remotely correct. It's because I used lots of left/right/top/bottom (constraint) declarations to size elements proportionally to their parent's size (I didn't use percent sizes because the percents refer to the parent's size before margins and padding are applied, left/right/top/bottom refer to them after with position:absolute. I'm asking about that here :)). I've read lots these past few weeks on how horrible IE6 (and IE) is in general, but because of all the reasons people say to support it (large market share and the fear of installing better software), and because half the people in the company we're building a site for use IE6 (getting them to upgrade to Chrome slowly but surely), I thought if I could just get IE6 to render my constraints, that might help. So I am messing around with simple layouts here, and they work fine in my latest versions of Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera, but IE6 is basically saying: If you haven't set a width or height on me, I'm assuming it's zero. But position:absolute; left:0px; right:0px; top:0px; bottom:0px; on a container that's width:1000px; height:1000px; should be the same as setting width:1000px; height:1000px on the child, no? Taking a quick look at the source for this, why won't IE6 render the constraint based absolutely positioned AND SIZED elements? (note: I will be messing around with that file for a while) Thanks

A solution that uses bcp and xp_cmdshell, that is not my desired solution, has been posted here: stackoverflow.com/questions/828749/ms-sql-server-2005-write-varbinary-to-file-system (sorry i cannot post a second hyperlink since my reputation is les than 10). I am new to c# (since I am a Delphi developer) anyway I was able to create a simple CLR stored procedures by following a tutorial. My task is to move a file from the client file system to the server file system (the server can be accessed using remote IP, so I cannot use a shared folder as destination, this is why I need a CLR stored procedure). So I plan to: 1) store from Delphi the file in a varbinary(max) column of a temporary table 2) call the CLR stored procedure to create a file at the desired path using the data contained in the varbinary(max) field Imagine I need to move C:\MyFile.pdf to Z:\MyFile.pdf, where C: is a harddrive on local system and Z: is an harddrive on the server. I provide the code below (not working) that someone can modify to make it work? Here I suppose to have a table called MyTable with two fields: ID (int) and DATA (varbinary(max)). Please note it doesn't make a difference if the table is a real temporary table or just a table where I temporarly store the data. I would appreciate if some exception handling code is there (so that I can manage an "impossible to save file" exception). I would like to be able to write a new file or overwrite the file if already existing.     Here is my predicament. Basically, I need a column in a table to hold up an unknown length of characters. But I was curious if in Sql Server performance problems could arise using a VARCHAR(MAX) or NVARCHAR(MAX) in a column, such as: 'This time' I only need to store 3 characters and most of the time I only need to store 10 characters. But there is a small chances that It could be up to a couple thousand characters in that column, or even possibly a million, It is unpredictable.   • Getting Out Of Memory: Java heap space, but while viewing heap space it max uses 50 MB

    Hi! I'm using ASANT to run a xml file which points to a NARS.jar file. (i do not have the project file of the NARS.jar) I'm getting "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. I used VisualVM to look at the heap while running the NARS.jar, and it says that it max uses 50 MB of the heapspace. I've set the initial and max size of heapspace to 512 MB. Does anyone have an ide of what could be wrong? I got 1 GB physical Memory and created a 5 GB pagefile (for test purpose). Thanks in advance.

  • Tomcat 5.5, Is there a max upload speed per request?

    I am having an issue when uploading files to tomcat. It seems that tomcat (or something else?) will not handle the upload as fast as I can send it. When uploading multiple files concurrently I can max out my local connection upload speed (2.1MB/s). However, when uploading only one file at a time, no matter how small or large the file, the upload will max out around 400KB/s. I have tried setting the appReadBufSize higher but it makes no difference. Is there something else that would be limiting the upload speed per request?     My jQuery code: $(document).ready(function() { chrome.extension.sendRequest({get: "height"}, function(response) { height = response.value; }); $("#id").css("height", height+"px"); }); You don't have to be concerned about the chrome.extension.sendRequest(), basically it communicates with a background page to fetch the value for "height" from localStorage and stores the value in global variable height. The problem lies in $("#id") not being assigned the height value. However if I were to modify it such that it is now: $(document).click(function() { $("#id").css("height", height+"px"); }); it works. Any idea why?
