  • 4GB Memory Upgrade for Acer Aspire 5102WLMi

    I have bought a 4GB memory upgrade (2x 2GB PC2-5300 SODIMM) for my Acer Aspire 5102WLMi (Aspire 5100 Series) laptop, I installed the two memory modules correctly however with 4GB installed the laptop refuses to POST. I have tried the following: Tried both 2GB SODIMMs without the other (Worked Fine) Tried the original 512MB SODIMMs (Worked Fine) Tried with original 512MB SODIMM and new 2GB SODIMM (Worked Fine) Tried swapping over the 2GB SODIMs (Didn't Boot) Left the computer for 10 minutes with both 2GB SODIMMs installed (Didn't Boot) Checked latest BIOS installed (No Change) The Crucial website said that the laptop supported 4GB of RAM as do several other sites through found through Google, up until now I was fairly confident this would work. Couple of questions that would be good to have answered: Question: Has anyone got an Acer Aspire 5100 Series running with 4GB RAM? Answer: Yes, I have now got one working with 3.75GB Usable, the rest is occupied utilized by the Graphics Card. Question: Any tips on getting this to work; is there a CMOS reset switch? Answer: Yes there is, if both SODIMMs are removed two very small interlocking PCB tracks are revealed. If these are shorted together with a screwdriver the BIOS will be reset. Thanks.

  • Windows 7 misses keystrokes from internal keyboard after hibernation (on Acer Aspire 5820)

    I face a very strange symptom on my Acer Aspire laptop (with the factory default Win7 install and divers. Windows update running). After waking the computer from hibernation, it is a pain to type, since on average 5-10 keypresses are missing per 100 presses, using the laptop's keyboard. Steps to reproduce: 1) Power off 2) Power on, wait for system to become usable 3) Open notepad, for 5 times do hit 10x the same character. This gives a similar pattern of 50 chars total: xxxxxxxxxxyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaassssssssssdddddddddd 4) Optionally repeat. Everything is fine this far. 5) Hibernate. 6) Power on and resume. 7) Repeat steps 3)-4). This time approximately 3-5 character will be missing from each 50 characters. What I ruled out: putting to Sleep or just Locking and resuming from there does not cause problem battery / AC usage does not matter net connection does not matter running processes seem to be the same before and after hibernation key press speed doesn't really matter. For the test I use a nominal 3-5 strokes/second beat. plugging in an external USB keyboard works fine, but the built-in one still misbehaves What could be the problem? How could I diagnose if the keypresses arrive in, but get swallowed at some point? (maybe some nasty keyboard handler hook misbehaves?). Update: It seems that pushing the PowerSmart button and toggling to power saving state fixes the problem. Also, toggling it again back to the original state keeps it fixed. So this may be a fine workaround, but is not a conforming solution.

  • Outlook 2007 - Mailbox doesn't show my Items (like Calendar)

    Hi All, I have running an Exchange Server 2003 and 2 IBM Laptops (A&B)with XP SP3. On both Laptops Office 2007 is installed. Laptop "A" Outlook doesn't show me my Calendar and Notes entries in my mailbox tree on Laptop "A". I can click on the calenendar tab and the entries are there. On Laptop "B" it is working fine. I know that I can make a "rigth click" on "mailbox" and choose "create new folder". Than I select i.g. my calendar. It creates it, but I can't access it through my mailbox tree. Clicking on the Calendar tab works fine again. So, the mailbox is fine (I think). There must be failure with Outlook. I tried these commands here with no positive result. Outlook /cleanviews Outlook /resetfolders I want to avoid a repair installation of Outlook, because the whole office needs to be repaired. (And both laptops belong to my boss) :) Thanks, Toby

    i have one exchange server 2010, which is working fine with one domain. my exchange is working as follows pop3 collector collect emails from one master catchall account and then deliver to exchange server, this working perfect. now what i want to add another domain to same exchange, i have added new domain as trusted domain & email policy and this new domain email account works fine with internal emails. now what i have done, i again forward new email account to same catchall account. but if i send email from any other external email address email is bounce, i can see email receive by pop3 collector but bounce by exchange server. to make you more clear let me explain logic on which i am working. i have 2 domains 1. domain1.com ([email protected]) 2. domain2.com ([email protected] -->[email protected]) now on my machine with exchange server i have pop3 collector which collect all emails from [email protected] and forward to exchange 2010 server. all emails to domain1.com is working perfect but when i send email to [email protected] this email redirect to [email protected] perfectly but when exchanger server receive this email, it bounce. i have also study the url link text and follow the whole process but no success. i also check that my DNS/MX is working fine as the bounce message is going from my exchange server. EDIT the only problem is with accepted domain, as email come to exchange server then bounce back. i just try this today i create one user called test, then i goto his properties -- email there was only one email account [email protected] i try to send email to [email protected] from internet (email bounce) then again i go to test user properties -- email and Add one email [email protected] again u try to send email to t*[email protected]* from internet (email received) i think the only problem is with accepted domain but in hub transport , it shows accepted is there any way to check does domain is properly accepted or not in exchange 2010 server.   • AT&T Upload Filtering?

    Using an AT&T DSL, I cannot ftp upload or ftp download a few files of a large 1500 set. The problem is the file name. I can change a few characters of the file name, and they upload fine. I can change the filenames from upper to lower case and they upload fine. If I change back to the original filename, it will not upload again. When it doesn't upload, it starts, transfers about 5% of a 5-10 meg file, and then times out. I have uploaded one of the files under a different name, changed the name back to the original, and it will not download via ftp. It will download onto a browser, and it will ftp download just fine with a different name. It just will not download with ftp. I have reproduced this uploading to three different servers on 1and1 and Amazon EC2. When I try it on a non-AT&T ISP client, it works OK. Here is a file that did not upload until I had renamed it. (I have changed it back to the original name): "http://xpda.com/nautnew/11302 STOVER POINT TO PORT BROWNSVILLE SIDE A.png" This problem is unrelated to connection, speed, and file content. Only things I can see that makes a difference are the file name and ATT DSL. Does ATT have some kind of ftp file filtering? Is there anything else that could cause this behavior?

  • NGINX + PHP-FPM - Strange issue when trying to display images via php-gd / readfile - Connection wont terminate

    Ok, to get the details out of the way: The php script can be anything as simple as: <? header('Content-Type: image/jpeg'); readfile('/local/image.jpg'); ?> When I try to execute this via nginx + php-fpm what happens is the image shows up in the browser, here is what happens: IE - The page stays blank for a long period of time, and eventually the image is shown. Chrome - The image shows, but the loading spinner spins and spins for a long period of time. Eventually the debugger will show the image in red as in error, but the image shows up fine. Everything else on the server works great. Its pushing out about 100mbit steady serving static content. So this is definatly a php-fpm related issue. I THINK this may have something to do with the chunked encoding being sent back wrong? Also, I threw in a pause before the image was read, and got the pid of the fpm process, and it looks as tho its terminatly correctly (from strace): shutdown(3, 1 /* send */) = 0 recvfrom(3, "\1\5\0\1\0\0\0\0", 8, 0, NULL, NULL) = 8 recvfrom(3, "", 8, 0, NULL, NULL) = 0 close(3) = 0 The above was dumped long before ie/chrome decided to give up (even tho the image was shown) loading the image. Displaying HTML / text content is fine. Big bodies etc all load nice and fast and terminate right away (as they should). Doing something like: THIS IS THE IMAGE ---BINARY DUMP OF IMAGE--- Works fine too. Any ideas?

  • Why did I loose access to the mailboxes on my old web/mail host after changing to a new one but keeping old MX values

    So I changed the NS records with registrar to point at the new webhosts DNS servers and edited the SOA record there, deleting the new hosts default MX records and instead putting in the old ones for the old web\mail hosts. The website A record is however pointing at the new webhosts servers and the site comes up fine. But none of this should cause me to loose access to mailboxes on my old hosts mail server right? I log into the control panel on the old host, all the mailboxes are there, all the passwords are fine but I can't log in using either webmail or pop3, says incorrect log-in/password. I even created a new mailbox and password for it respectively, but it would not let me log in. For what its worth I did not change\delete the records for 'A' on the old webhost zone file, since I am not hosting the site with them anymore and NS records are pointing to other hosts DNS servers/zone file so that shouldn't matter right? The old hosts mailserver is also not simply down, I can tell because through the control panel I setup a mail forward for one of the existing inboxes and when sending mail to it, it receives it and forwards it fine. So from this I can deduce that I have correctly inputted the old hosts MX records into the zone file hosted on the new hosts DNS and the mail is being sent to the old hosts mail server(s) and is successfully forwarded by it. But why can't I log into those account/inboxes anymore ?

  • SSO to multiple websites from Sharepoint website

    We have an intranet based on Sharepoint 2010. In this intranet we have several links to other webservers within the same Active Directory, for example a link to our Outlook Web Access site on our Exchange 2010 environment. We have three different setups which visit this Sharepoint environment and the other webservers: Windows 7 clients that are a member of the Active Directory Home pc's that connect through a SSL VPN appliance Standalone thin clients (Windows 7 embedded) within the corporate network The goal is to let people only sign in once. In the first group this isn't a problem because the AD Integrated Authentication works fine and the Windows logon is passed on to Sharepoint and the other webservers. The second group is also working fine because of the LDAP integration that the SSL VPN appliance uses. The third group is however experiencing issues. They need to enter their credentials everytime they click a link to another webserver. They first need to enter credentials for accessing the Sharepoint environment. When clicking the link for their webmail they have to re-enter their credentials, and so on. Can someone tell me what the best solution would be to also get SSO working fine for the third group? Some extra information: We also have a Forefront TMG server in our environment. I read somewhere that Forefront might be part of a solution for this problem, but not sure how.   • Internet keeps connecting and disconnecting

    I have a PC running 32bit Windows 7 Professional. My wireless internet card is Edimax EW-7128G, it is inside my computer case and it is connected to an antenna. My problem is: I have a wireless connection to my router, the signal is fine and it's not slow or anything, but it just keeps disconnecting every 30 seconds or so, then connects back, then it disconnects, then connects back and so on. This is new - it only started about a week ago, everything worked just fine until then. I know it's not a problem with the router because: Other computers can connect to it easily and they work just fine, no disconnections (My phone too). I know it's not a problem with the computer or the wireless card itself because: I have Ubuntu installed side-by-side with my Windows, and when I switch to Ubuntu the internet works great. This caused me to think it's probably a problem with the wireless card drivers installed on windows (Ubuntu auto-installed them, I installed them manually on windows): I tried uninstalling them, and then installing them back again, sadly that didn't help. I'm kind of lost here - can anyone think of anything else I should try? Thanks :)

    For a WPF application being developed in VS 2012 (Ultimate), the application runs fine when a particular project's code analysis is disabled. Enabling it results in the error above. This was working fine until recently (i.e. running with code analysis enabled for the particular project) and the only recent change I can think of is removing NHibernate Profiler (using NuGet). Will be grateful for any pointers on how to debug this, or to see a more detailed log/error message.

  • Jquery 'permission denied' error for JSON call between HTTP and HTTPS

    Hi, I have a login control on my homepage (http://www.xyz.com) which makes a JSON login request over HTTPS (https://www.xyz.com/json.ashx). This seems to work fine in Firefox and IE7. But IE8 gives a 'permission denied' error for jquery.min.js I have verified that this call works fine if its solely over http or https. Is the call considered 'cross-domain' if it is between the http and https sections of the site? How can I resolve this problem? Thanks, Murali

The first one opens fine - is resizable, draggable, etc. However, when I open a second the first becomes unresponsive to dragging/moving/closing, even after the second one is closed. What is the reason for this and how can it be fixed? According to the jQuery documentation this should work fine (since stacking is supported).

    Has anybody experienced Timeout error with TwitPic API using ASIFormDataRequest when uploading multiple images? Status updates without images are fine. I was trying to upload the exact same 2 images. The first request went through fine, but the second one was timeout. It also happens when multiple images are uploaded, some went through, but some didn't. It's happening randomly and I have no idea how to debug it anymore.

    Hi, I was using the sys.ui.dataview, ado.net data services and a html page to provide an edit page. It was working fine, but when I wanted to apply some ACT features, for instance watermark or autocomplete on a textbox (input) within the dataview div, its not applied. However, when I move that text box, out of the div, it is working fine and the watermark effect was applied. Am I doing something wrong or any advice ? Thanks

Sometimes it works fine and without any significant change in the navigation is gives that error. Again it works fine when i restart the app several times without doing any changes to the code or navigation in the system. I cant figure out the reason why this happens. thanks

    I installed VS 2010 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. When I try and connect to an advantage database through the server explorer using the Advanatage OLEDB driver I get a cannot discover advantage database server error. I can connect to the database using the ARC just fine. I was able to connect in VS 2008 just fine. Any ideas on why I can't connect in VS 2010?

    Hi, I`m trying to freeze my application using Py2exe. My app uses PyQt4 and it apparently works fine with py2exe. But once I`ve uninstalled PyQt, it shows the following error: QSqlDatabase: QPSQL driver not loaded QSqlDatabase: available driver: QPSQL7 QPSQL Which doesn't make sense at all. If PyQt4 is still installed, it works just fine. I tried using gmail's smtp and it worked fine as well...

  • Can't start gdb.exe in Qt Creator

    I have a project in Qt Creator that builds fine, but when I try to debug it I get this message: Adapter start failed Unable to start gdb 'C:\Qt\2010.02.1\mingw\bin\gdb.exe': Process failed to start: The directory name is invalid If I navigate to the debug build folder and directly run my compiled application, it will run fine, but obviously there's no debugging support. Additionally, gdb.exe is present at C:\Qt\2010.02.1\mingw\bin\gdb.exe, but Qt Creator can't seem to run it. How can I fix this problem?
