  • Problem when trying to configure enterprise library 5.0 (Data Access Application Block)

    Hi There Stackoverflow, I am running into some problems while trying to get DAAB from Enterprise library 5.0 running. I have followed the steps as per the tutorial, but am getting errors... 1) Download / install enterprise library 2) Add references to the blocks I need (common / data) 3) Imports Imports Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Common Imports Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data 4) Through the enterprise library config software. I open up the web.config from my site. I then click Blocks, then Add data settings... fill in my details and save / close 5) I then (thinking setup is complete) try to get an instance of the database via Dim db As Database = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase() 6) I compile and receive the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=5.0.414.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) (C:\site\web.config line 4) Line 4 off my web.config was generated by the config tool and is: <section name="dataConfiguration" type="Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Configuration.DatabaseSettings, Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=5.0.414.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" requirePermission="true" /> Am I missing a required step?     I learnt that I should be using service classes to persist entities into the database instead of putting such logic in models/controllers. I currently made my service class something like class Application_DAO_User { protected $user; public function __construct(User $user) { $this->user = $user } public function edit($name, ...) { $this->user->name = $name; ... $this->em->flush(); } } I wonder if this should be the structure of a service class? where a service object represents a entity/model? Or maybe I should pass a User object everytime I want to do a edit like public static function edit($user, $name) { $user->name = $name; $this->em->flush(); } I am using Doctrine 2 & Zend Framework, but it shouldn't matter

  • .net 4.0 with Code Access Security NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy won't work

    Hi- I'm trying to use an external library DevExpress.XtraTreeList.v8.1.dll in my vsto office addin built using VS2010 beta 2. I am getting the following compile time error: DevExpress.Utils.AppareanceObject threw an exception -- System.NotSupportedException. The error message goes on to say that for compatibility reasons I can use the NetFx40_LegacySecurityPolicy switch. I've tried putting this config variable in all of the following locations: 1) my applications config file. 2) C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006\msbuild.exe.config 3) C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\dev.exe.config None of these have resolved the problem. Here were the references I've used. re-enable cas msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee191568(VS.100).aspx How do I get rid of this error so I can build the application in vs 2010?

  • Access Database using do.cmd openform where clasue - returning all values

    DoCmd.OpenForm "Database Search", acFormDS, , srcLastName & "AND " & srcFirstName This is only a small sample of the where clause - there are many more terms. First, there is a set of If, Then type tings up top that set the variable srcLastName and srcFirstName to some value. These are not the problem and work just fine. The trouble is getting them to return all values (for instance if you only want to search by one, on neither(return full database list)) Thus far I have settled for (in the if then section): srcLastName = "[Lastname] =" & Chr(34) & cboLastName & Chr(34) - to search for something and srcLastName = "[Lastname] <" & Chr(34) & "Nuthin" & Chr(34) - to return everything (not equal to an absurd and mispelled database term.) The trouble is that data that is null is also not returned. If I have a null firstname, it will not show up in any search period. is there a term I can set [lastname] and [firstname] equal to that will return EVERYTHING (null, open, data, numbers, wierd stuff and otherwise) in a search an SQL form of "give me everything shes got scotty" if you will. the real issue here comes from the data entry - if I could just know that the people would enter everything 100% of the time, this code would work. but forget to enter the persons age or whatever, and it wont return that entry. So far, the only other solution I have come up with is to put a counter in each if then statement. The count will go up by one for each thing that is being searched by. Then if the count is = 1, then I can search by something like just DoCmd.OpenForm "Database Search", acFormDS, , srcLastName or DoCmd.OpenForm "Database Search", acFormDS, , srcFirstName then revert back to the DoCmd.OpenForm "Database Search", acFormDS, , srcLastName & "AND " & srcFirstName when the count is 2 or more truoble here is that it only works for one (unless I so wanted to create a custon list of 2 combined, 3 combined, 4 combined, but that is not happening)

    In a multi-tenant ASP.NET MVC application based on Rob Conery's MVC Storefront, should I be filtering the tenant's data in the repository or the service layer? 1. Filter tenant's data in the repository: public interface IJobRepository { IQueryable<Job> GetJobs(short tenantId); } 2. Let the service filter the repository data by tenant: public interface IJobService { IList<Job> GetJobs(short tenantId); } My gut-feeling says to do it in the service layer (option 2), but it could be argued that each tenant should in essence have their own "virtual repository," (option 1) where this responsibility lies with the repository. Which is the most elegant approach: option 1, option 2 or is there a better way? Update: I tried the proposed idea of filtering at the repository, but the problem is that my application provides the tenant context (via sub-domain) and only interacts with the service layer. Passing the context all the way to the repository layer is a mission. So instead I have opted to filter my data at the service layer. I feel that the repository should represent all data physically available in the repository with appropriate filters for retrieving tenant-specific data, to be used by the service layer. Final Update: I ended up abandoning this approach due to the unnecessary complexities. See my answer below.

    Hi, I have the following piece of code: for i := 0 to FControlList.Count - 1 do if Supports(IMyControl(FControlList[i]), IMyControlEx) then begin MyControlEx := IMyControl(FControlList[i]) as IMyControlEx; MyControlEx.DoYourMagic(Self, SomeData); end; This code is called many times during my application execution, but in some specific cases it fails inside the Supports() method. And more specifically - it seems to fall inside the QueryInterface() call within the Supports() method. I checked that FControlList is not nil and FControlList[i] is not nil and it still happens. Any idea will be appreciated!!!

    i have a web application which stores users file in directory which is under webroot directory.. Suppose web application is under 'fileupload' and all files are getting stored in 'xyz' folder under 'fileupload' so now if user points to url say like www.xyzpqr.com/fileupload/xyz/abc.doc, he gets that file. How do i restirct this from happening.. i have thought of putting xyz folder in WeB-inf folder but as my application is very big i have to made changes at too many places.. so is there any way so that without moving the folder to web-inf (restricted folders) i can achieve wat i want..

    Hey guys, So I have been given the host, username, and login information for a MySQL Database. I need a client that I can use to log in to the Database remotely and create/update tables and edit all the data. I found the MySQL Administrator client provided by them, but it seems you can do everything BUT edit the actual data with it. Is there anything like this? Would I be able to use SQL Server Express (or something similar), to connect to a remote server online and do all of this?

  • Write-access for c# app in it's own exe dir in Windows 7

    I know that user accounts in Windows 7 are limited by default, so a program cannot just write anywhere on the system (as it was possible in Win XP). But I thought that it would be possible that e.g. a c# app is allowed to write inside it's own exe-directory or it's subfolders at least (not everything is 'user settings' or should be written to "MyDocuments"...). So currently my c# app throws an UnauthorizedAccessException when trying to write inside the exe dir. Is there anything you can do in c# code to allow writing inside the exe dir?

    i am passing the textbox1.text values into a query and sometimes into a string sometimes i say this: dim combor1 as string combor1 = comboReason1.Text how do i know when i should put combor1=comboreason1.value ?? also why do i need to set focus for a control to reference its property? that doesn't make sense to me also when i set combor4 = comboReason4.Value and the .value is null, then i get an error about invalid use of null please help!
