Environment: Solaris 10 This mysql server has been up and running for 6 months now. Today all of a sudden it crashed. When typing 'mysql' as user it gives the error MYSQL" Error 2002 (HY000): Can't Connect to Local MySQL server though socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' The server try to open mysql, it stays open for 9-10 seconds and restarts the process. • problems installing mysql and phpmyadmin to localhost

    - by Joel
Hi guys, I know there have been many similar questions, but as far as I can tell, most of the other people have gotten further than I have... I'm trying to get a WAMP setup happening. I've got PHP and Apache running and talking to each other. PHP is in c:\PHP Apache is in it's default program files folder. mySQL is in it's default install location. I have localhost setup at D:\public_html\ I'm able to navigate to localhost and see html and php files. But I have a simple mySQL test file: <?php // hostname or ip of server (for local testing, localhost should work) $dbServer='localhost'; // username and password to log onto db server $dbUser='root'; $dbPass=''; // name of database $dbName='test'; $link = mysql_connect("$dbServer", "$dbUser", "$dbPass") or die("Could not connect"); print "Connected successfully<br>"; mysql_select_db("$dbName") or die("Could not select database"); print "Database selected successfully<br>"; // close connection mysql_close($link); ?> When I try and open this, I get "could not connect" Now, I haven't even created a database yet, because I can't log into mySQL with phpmyadmin-so I think I've done something wrong in my mySQL install because they aren't talking to each other. I guess my main question is how do I first create a database in mySQL to be sure I have even installed it correctly?

  • Is there any free host which supports php and mySQL in utf-8? [closed]

    - by Maria Konnou
Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? Is there any free host which supports php and mySQL queries in utf-8? I've already tried to use x10hosting and 000webhosting, but they don't support utf8 mysql queries (got mojibake). The default encoding of mysql in both sites is latin-1, and you're not able to change that. Is there any other free host that fully supports utf-8?

  • Updated my WAMP Server and MySQL is eating up 580mB of memory

    - by Jon
I updated my dev-box's WAMPSERVER, and along with updating PHP and Apache, MySQL updated to '5.6.12'. After doing that, I copied the data folder from my old (5.1.36) install to the new one and now MySQL takes up 580mB which is way too much, since I'm the only person using it (Locally) and there are only 20 or so databases on it, none of which have 'memory' tables. How can I get this down to a decent amount? My my.ini: # For advice on how to change settings please see # http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/server-configuration-defaults.html # *** DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE. • MySQL Server Not Starting on Boot

    - by Brian
I have installed MySQL on a RHEL 5 server and I'm wanting to set it up so that the server starts on boot. I've ran the "chkconfig --list mysqld" command and it's currently running on levels 3, 4 and 5. However, when I reboot the server, no mysqld process is started. I've also tried manually starting the server by executing "/usr/bin/mysqld_safe" and I get the following output: Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql STOPPING server from pid file /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid 100319 10:31:30 mysqld ended I looked in /var/log/mysqld.log and I found the following: 100319 10:29:01 mysqld started 100319 10:29:02 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 29752204 100319 10:29:02 [ERROR] Can't start server : Bind on unix socket: Permission denied 100319 10:29:02 [ERROR] Do you already have another mysqld server running on socket: /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock ? 100319 10:29:02 [ERROR] Aborting

  • MySQL command appends '@localhost' to username

    - by Mikee
I just can't seem to figure this one out. I want to use the command line to connect to a MySQL database residing on another server. I went ahead and created the username and password for the user. I have also granted all privileges on that user for that database. When using the command: mysql -h <hostname> -u <username> -p, I get the following error: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user '<username>'@'<local_machine_hostname>' (using password: YES) The problem is that it keeps appending the current machine's hostname into the username. Obviously, that user@<local_machine_hostname> is not correct. It doesn't matter what I type. For instance, if I type: mysql -h <hostname> -u '<username>'@'<hostname>' -p It does the same, only in the error output, it says: Access denied for user '<username>@<hostname>'@'<local_machine_hostname>' Is there a setting in a configuration file which is allowing this to happen? It's really quite annoying. I need to set up a tikiwiki server, and it cannot connect because during the step where you set up mysql, it keeps appending the local machine's hostname to the mysql login name.

  • Mirroring MySQL server with diffrent configuration

    - by HTF
I have to migrate MySQL server to a different data centre so I would like to create another MySQL slave server in new DC and then promote it to a master later on. I previously used LVM snapshots and Percona Xtrabackup for this purpose but this time I've optimized MySQL configuration file that prevents me from using these methods. Old server (backup): innodb_log_file_size = 256M innodb_log_files_in_group = 3 New server (restore): innodb_log_file_size = 512M innodb_log_files_in_group = 2 The Xtrabackup script and LVM snapshots copy the whole directory structure so the MySQL server won't start because there is a different size for InnoDB logs. Is there any solution to avoid a downtime in this case? I can't use mysqldumps as there is around 8000 databases so I would have to take the server down for a couple of hours. I was also thinking to use the old settings with Xtrabackup and then change it once the new server is promoted to a master - less downtime but I'm not sure if this will work? Thank you Regards

  • Corrupt mysql system tables

    - by psynnott
I am having issues with the columns_priv table in the mysql system database. I cannot add new users currently. I have tried repairing it using mysqlcheck --auto-repair --all-databases --password but I get the following output: mysql.columns_priv Error : Incorrect file format 'columns_priv' error : Corrupt Is there any other way to repair this table, or how do I go about replacing it with a blank table? What would I lose by doing that? Thank you Edit (Additional Info) mysqld is currently using 100% cpu constantly. Looking at show processlist, I get: mysql> show processlist; +-----+------------------+-----------+-------+---------+------+-------------------+------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Id | User | Host | db | Command | Time | State | Info | +-----+------------------+-----------+-------+---------+------+-------------------+------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 5 | debian-sys-maint | localhost | mysql | Query | 1589 | Opening tables | ALTER TABLE tables_priv MODIFY Column_priv set('Select','Insert','Update','References') COLL | | | 752 | root | localhost | NULL | Query | 0 | NULL | show processlist | +-----+------------------+-----------+-------+---------+------+-------------------+------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ 2 rows in set (0.00 sec)

I recently upgraded from the previous LTS Ubuntu to Precise and now mysql refuses to start. • MySQL wants a password but it's empty

    - by gAMBOOKa

For a little clarification. I am running into this issue when attempting to change the password using a script: We're using a bash script to do that. mysqladmin -u root password abc wouldn't work (access denied) mysqladmin -u root -p password abc cannot be used because it prompts for a password and we need to automate this. mysqladmin -u root -p'' password abc is not working either

  • mysql: can't set max_allowed_package to anything grater than 16MB

    - by sas
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post these kind of questions, if it's not so, please (politely) let me know... :-) I need to save files greater than 16MB on a mysql database from a php site... I've already changed the c:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.cnf and set max_allowed_packet to 16 MB, and everything worked fine then I set it to 32 MB but there´s no way I can handle a file bigger than 16 MB I get the following error: 'MySQL server has gone away' (the same error I had when max_allowed_packet was set to 1MB) there must be some other setting that doesn´t allow me to handle files bigger than 16MB maybe the php client, I guess, but I don't know where to edit it this is the code I'm running when file.txt is smaller than 16.776.192 bytes long, it works fine, but if file.txt has 16.777.216 bytes i get the aforementioned error oh, and the field download.content is a longblob... $file = 'file.txt'; $file_handle = fopen( $file, 'r' ); $content = fread( $file_handle, filesize( $file ) ); fclose( $file_handle ); db_execute( 'truncate table download', true ); $sql = "insert into download( code, title, name, description, original_name, mime_type, size, content, user_insert_id, date_insert, user_update_id, date_update ) values ( 'new file', 'new file', 'sas.jpg', 'new file', '$file', 'mime', " . filesize( $file ) . I'm trying to run the mysql command on my mac osx but keep getting the error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) I did try researching this extensively but could'nt find a suitable solution. Most of the solutions refer to /etc/my.cnf but I don't seem to have this configuration file in the first place. I'm pretty much stuck and have been for quite a while. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    - by fefe
I have a virtual machine(Ubuntu 12.04, MySQL 5.5) running under VMware and is dedicated to host a mysql server. I connect to this server on internal IP. I'm trying to find out why I get mysql server has gone error. One my windows machines apache it stops because of this issue. I have been trying to fine tune my mysql my.cnf with the following parameters but did not bring the desired result. # Instead of skip-networking the default is now to listen only on # localhost which is more compatible and is not less secure. bind-address = 0.0.0.0 # # * Fine Tuning # wait_timeout = 180 key_buffer = 384M max_allowed_packet = 64M thread_stack = 192K thread_cache_size = 8 # This replaces the startup script and checks MyISAM tables if needed # the first time they are touched myisam-recover = BACKUP max_connections = 500 table_cache = 64 #thread_concurrency = 10 # # * Query Cache Configuration # query_cache_limit = 1M query_cache_size = 32M how to debug this issue what is missing from configuration to avoid this error?

  • How to make Django work with unsupported MySQL drivers such as gevent-mysql or Concurrence's MySQL d

    - by Continuation
I'm interested in running Django on an async framework like Concurrence or gevent. Both frameworks come with its own async MySQL driver. Problem is Django only officially supports MySQLdb. What do I need to do to make Django work with the MySQL drivers that come with gevent or Concurrence? Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere that I can follow? Is this a major undertaking? Thanks.

  • mysql cluster virtual ip

    - by user225995
I am new in mysql cluster and mysql cluster and versions are not my choice. I setup four machines. Two of them manager , Two of them data cluster (ndb and mysqld). And i integrate with mysql utilities master/slave configuration. Everything working fine. Mysql version 5.6.17, ndb 7.3.5 , servers ubuntu 14.04. There will be no much transactions. The only important thing is HA. Everythings must be double. My problem is virtual ip. Since I have only one farm which have master slave configuration, how can i do it without proxy? If I must use proxy which proxy is better?

  • DRBD with MySQL

    - by tdimmig
Question about using DRBD to provide HA for MySQL. I need to be sure that my backup MySQL instance is always going to be in a functional state when the failover occurs. What happens, for example, if the primary dies part way through committing a transaction? Are we going to end up with data copied to the secondary that mysql can't handle? Or, what if the network goes away while the two are syncing, and not all of the data makes it across. It seems like it's possible to get into a state where incomplete data on the secondary makes it impossible for mysql to start up and read the database. Am I missing something?

  • Chroot for Mysql running on Ubuntu 10.10?

    - by Calvin Froedge
Prompted from a question about MySQL server security best practices, I've been running through this list (with a few minor alterations) to properly secure my server database server: http://www.greensql.net/publications/mysql-security-best-practices On step 10, I'm told to change the root directory for the mysql user using chroot, but very few specifics are provided and I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone know of a good resource for walking me through the steps to properly create a chrooted environment for Ubuntu 10.10?
