  • Looking for a very bare and basic blog system?

    Does anyone know of a user-hosted blog which can be an alternative to WordPress only, it should only have the bare necessities of a blog. I'll just take it from there. It should only have the following: Admin Account (for posting, editing, etc) Archive System Posting System with character limitation (For the Read More links.) Accept Comments from other users (only requires the user's name and email and / or website, then the actual comment). Pages (Allows me to create pages for custom content.) The reason I want this is because WordPress is already too bloated up that there are a ton of features that I don't need. I'd mostly be satisfied with a blogging system that has the above feature-set and I'll just work my way to add my own feature as I require it along the way.

  • How do I configure proxy settings for LOCAL SYSTEM?

    If I edit Proxy Settings through the Control Panel, the settings are stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ProxyEnable and ...\ProxyServer. These settings are of course not used when running as a service under LOCAL SYSTEM. So I tried setting ProxyEnable and ProxyServer under HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\... (as well as HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\... and all the other users on the system), but that does not work. How do I set the proxy settings for the LOCAL SYSTEM user?

  • Where to install JDBC drivers in Hyperic Server

    I have installed Hyperic Server 4.4.0 and I want to use an SQL plugin that connects to an Oracle database. To make this work on the Agent i had to download a JDBC driver for Oracle and put it in [agent-dir]/bundles/[bundle-dir]/pdk/lib. I can now run my plugin on the agent using java -jar hq-products.jar .... Now I want to add it so that it shows up in the server hq. I put the plugin in the appropriate directory and I can add it as a platform service. However, when i try to configure the plugin I get the following error: No suitable driver found for jdbc:oracle:thin:@blah.blah:blah:blah This is the same error I got on the client before I added the Oracle JDBC driver, so I assume that's the problem here too. But where do I put the JDBC drivers on the server?

  • Use System Restore to rescue lost user profile in Win XP?

    Hi! My win XP account profile has recently been "reset". Many app settings are lost. For example, the "recent project" list in VS 2005 is empty. There should be lots of other stuffs that are painfully lost without me knowing! What can I do? Can I retrieve the app settings from System Restore? I don't have much confidence on this util, even tho I think restoring to a point when the profile still works, and back up away the C:\Documents and Settings (is it where all the app setting files are located?), that should work... Is it reliable to restore to a previous restore pt and then goes back to the latest RP? I've googled on System Restore, looks like what the util does is just back up some physical files, and restore them when doing System Restore. That sounds quite safe, but I am still uncomfortable to this. Thx for u guys' help in advance!

When connected with RDP to another system that has HP Update installed on it, either directly running the HP Update or having the notification pop up to ask if you want to run HP Update causes the local system to try to print something to peculiarly-chosen-local-printer. Case 1: Desktop Win 7 Ult system RDP connected to HP Laptop Win 7 Ult system. When HP Update runs on the laptop a dialog for XPS Writer Save As... appears on Desktop system. If the HP Update pops up the request to run the update and you are not at the desk when this happens, there can be dozens of queued requests for this bogus printing. NOTE: the XPS Writer is not selected as a default printer on either system. Case 2: (Different) HP Laptop Win 7 Ult system RDP connected to XP Pro "brand X" desktop system but with HP printer drivers installed. If the request to run HP Update notification pops on the XP system, dozens of attempts to print, in this case to a Versa Check Printer driver, are queued. Dismissing the HP request, closing RDP, and cleaning out the queue are required to stop this. NOTE: the Versa Check Writer is not selected as a default printer on either system. THE QUESTION: What the heck is going on here? Some kind of scripting or COM activity that is misdirected?

  • Use System Restore to rescue lost user profile in Win XP?

    Hi! My win XP account profile has recently been "reset". Many app settings are lost. For example, the "recent project" list in VS 2005 is empty. There should be lots of other stuffs that are painfully lost without me knowing! What can I do? Can I retrieve the app settings from System Restore? I don't have much confidence on this util, even tho I think restoring to a point when the profile still works, and back up away the C:\Documents and Settings (is it where all the app setting files are located?), that should work... Is it reliable to restore to a previous restore pt and then goes back to the latest RP? I've googled on System Restore, looks like what the util does is just back up some physical files, and restore them when doing System Restore. That sounds quite safe, but I am still uncomfortable to this. Thx for u guys' help in advance!

It plays in IE, but not in Firefox or Chrome. My problem: Chrome reports "Could not load VLC Plugin". It seems to be a known problem that the VLC community don't necessarily feel like fixing at the moment, and is a result of Google choosing not to allow some certain kind of plugin. If I disable the plugin I no longer get the message but nothing happens when I click the button. Looking at the console in a debug window I see Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function Sound.html:7 PlaySound Sound.html:7 onclick which suggests Chrome could not find anything else to handle the sound file. How to I tell Chrome to use (e.g.) Windows Media Player? * UPDATE * This is apparently because the VLC plugin is a NPAPI plugin and Chrome no longer supports these. I have uninstalled VLC and this has removed the error on loading the webpage with an embedded sound element, but it still doesn't invoke WMP instead.

  • Getting instance crashes on IntelliJ IDEA with scala plugin.

    I am building a scala web project using scala test, lift, jpa, hibernate, mercurial plugin, etc. I am getting instant crashes, where the ide just bombs, the window shuts down, and it gives no error messages whatsoever when I am doing any amount of copy/pasting of code. This started happening once my project got to about 100 unit tests. This problem is incredibly annoying, because when the crash happens, 30-60 seconds of activity is not saved. Even IDEA will forget which files were last opened and will forget where the cursor was, which makes it really hard to continue where you left off after the crash. A lot can happen in 60 seconds! Now, I've given up, because it seems like all sorts of things cause the IntelliJ IDEA to crash over and over. For example, if I were to copy and paste this code, to write a similar test for another collection type, it would crash shortly after: it should "cascade save and delete status messages" in { val statusMessage = new StatusMessage("message") var user = userDao.find(1).get user.addToStatusMessages(statusMessage) userDao.save(user) statusMessage.isPersistent should be (true) userDao.delete(user) statusMessageDao.find(statusMessage.id) should equal (None) } There is nothing special about this piece of code. It's code that is working just fine. However, IDEA bombs shortly after I paste something like this. For example, I might change StatusMessage to the new class I want to test cascading on... and then have to import that class into the test... and BOOM... it crashed. On windows 7, the IDEA window literally just minimizes and crashes with no warning. The next time I startup IDEA, it has no memory of what happened. Now, I've had this problem before. I posted it way back on IDEA's YouTrack. I was told to invalidate my caches. That never fixed it then, and it's not fixing it now. Please help. This error is fairly random, but it's happening constantly now. I could program for hours and not see it before... and the fact that my work just gets destroyed and I can't remember what I did during the last minute causes me to swear at my monitor at a db level higher than my stereo can go.

  • Role of systems in entity systems architecture

    I've been reading a lot about entity components and systems and have thought that the idea of an entity just being an ID is quite interesting. However I don't know how this completely works with the components aspect or the systems aspect. A component is just a data object managed by some relevant system. A collision system uses some BoundsComponent together with a spatial data structure to determine if collisions have happened. All good so far, but what if multiple systems need access to the same component? Where should the data live? An input system could modify an entities BoundsComponent, but the physics system(s) need access to the same component as does some rendering system. Also, how are entities constructed? One of the advantages I've read so much about is flexibility in entity construction. Are systems intrinsically tied to a component? If I want to introduce some new component, do I also have to introduce a new system or modify an existing one? Another thing that I've read often is that the 'type' of an entity is inferred by what components it has. If my entity is just an id how can I know that my robot entity needs to be moved or rendered and thus modified by some system? Sorry for the long post (or at least it seems so from my phone screen)!

    A Mac’s Recovery Mode is for more than just reinstalling Mac OS X. You’ll find many other useful troubleshooting utilities here — you can use these even if your Mac can’t boot normally. To access Recovery Mode, restart your Mac and press and hold the Command + R keys during the boot-up process. This is one of several hidden startup options on a Mac. Reinstall Mac OS X Most people know Recovery Mode as the place you go to reinstall OS X on your Mac. Recovery Mode will download the OS X installer files from teh Intenret if you don’t have them locally, so they don’t take up space on your disk and you’ll never have to hunt for an opearign system disc. Better yet, it will download up-to-date installation files so you don’t have to spend hours installing operating system updates later. Microsoft could learn a lot from Apple here. Restore From a Time Machine Backup Instead of reinstalling OS X, you can choose to restore your Mac from a time machine backup. This is like restoring a system image on another operating system. You’ll need an external disk containing a backup image created on the current computer to do this. Browse the Web The Get Help Online link opens the Safari web browser to Apple’s documentation site. It’s not limited to Apple’s website, though — you can navigate to any website you like. This feature allows you to access and use a browser on your Mac even if it isn’t booting properly. It’s ideal for looking up troubleshooting information. Manage Your Disks The Disk Utility option opens the same Disk Utility you can access from within Mac OS X. It allows you to partition disks, format them, scan disks for problems, wipe drives, and set up drives in a RAID configuration. If you need to edit partitions from outside your operating system, you can just boot into the recovery environment — you don’t have to download a special partitioning tool and boot into it. Choose the Default Startup Disk Click the Apple menu on the bar at the top of your screen and select Startup Disk to access the Choose Startup Disk tool. Use this tool to choose your computer’s default startup disk and reboot into another operating system. For example, it’s useful if you have Windows installed alongside Mac OS X with Boot Camp. Add or Remove an EFI Firmware Password You can also add a firmware password to your Mac. This works like a BIOS password or UEFI password on a Windows or Linux PC. Click the Utilities menu on the bar at the top of your screen and select Firmware Password Utility to open this tool. Use the tool to turn on a firmware password, which will prevent your computer from starting up from a different hard disk, CD, DVD, or USB drive without the password you provide. This prevents people form booting up your Mac with an unauthorized operating system. If you’ve already enabled a firmware password, you can remove it from here. Use Network Tools to Troubleshoot Your Connection Select Utilities > Network Utility to open a network diagnostic tool. This utility provides a graphical way to view your network connection information. You can also use the netstat, ping, lookup, traceroute, whois, finger, and port scan utilities from here. These can be helpful to troubleshoot Internet connection problems. For example, the ping command can demonstrate whether you can communicate with a remote host and show you if you’re experiencing packet loss, while the traceroute command can show you where a connection is failing if you can’t connect to a remote server. Open a Terminal If you’d like to get your hands dirty, you can select Utilities > Terminal to open a terminal from here. This terminal allows you to do more advanced troubleshooting. Mac OS X uses the bash shell, just as typical Linux distributions do. Most people will just need to use the Reinstall Mac OS X option here, but there are many other tools you can benefit from. If the Recovery Mode files on your Mac are damaged or unavailable, your Mac will automatically download them from Apple so you can use the full recovery environment.

  • cakephp routing problem, plugin routing works but not others

    I'm having a strange routing problem with a site I just uploaded, and I've made a number of changes to test what's happening. It doesn't make any sense. My setup is: - I'm using one plugin, which I've included all the routing in the routes.php file. - I've also included the routes for two other controllers, 'events' and 'updates' they look like this: Router::connect('/login', array('plugin' = 'pippoacl', 'controller' = 'users', 'action' = 'login')); Router::connect('/logout', array('plugin' = 'pippoacl', 'controller' = 'users', 'action' = 'logout')); Router::connect( '/events/', array( 'controller' = 'events', 'action' = 'index')); Router::connect('/updates', array('controller' = 'updates', 'action' = 'index')); What happens when I try to get to 'events' is that I get an error message saying: "Not Found Error: The requested address '/Events' was not found on this server." I've checked the database and it's accessible, through the plugin's model/controller/view. I've also made sure the model/controllers for 'events' and 'updates' are there. Can anyone tell me how to trouble shoot this? Thanks, Paul

  • How to extend an 'unloadable' Rails plugin?

    I'm trying to write a plugin that will extend InheritedResources. Specifically I want to rewrite some default helpers. And I'd like it to "just work" once installed, w/o any changes to application code. The functionality is provided in a module which needs to be included in a right place. The question is where? :) The first attempt was to do it in my plugin's init.rb: InheritedResources::Base.send :include, MyModule It works in production, but fails miserably in development since InheritedResource::Base declared as unloadable and so its code is reloaded on each request. So my module is there for the first request, and then its gone. InheritedResource::Base is 'pulled' in again by any controller that uses it: Class SomeController < InheritedResource::Base But no code is 'pulling in' my extension module since it is not referenced anywhere except init.rb which is not re-loaded on each request So right now I'm just including the module manually in every controller that needs it which sucks. I can't even include it once in ApplicationController because InheritedResources inherites from it and so it will override any changes back. update I'm not looking for advice on how to 'monkey patch'. The extension is working in production just great. my problem is how to catch moment exactly after InheritedResources loaded to stick my extension into it :) update2 another attempt at clarification: the sequence of events is a) rails loads plugins. my plugin loads after inherited_resources and patches it. b) a development mode request is served and works c) rails unloads all the 'unloadable' code which includes all application code and also inherited_resources d) another request comes in e) rails loads controller, which inherites from inherited resources f) rails loads inherited resources which inherit from application_controller g) rails loads application_contrller (or may be its already loaded at this stage, not sure) g) request fails as no-one loaded my plugin to patch inherited_resources. plugin init.rb files are not reloaded I need to catch the point in time between g and h

    Hi, I'm using SimpleModal plugin (http://www.ericmmartin.com/projects/simplemodal/) for generating a simple modal dialog. Now the application I'm using this in had some previous code that uses Spring MVC - DWR Ajax framework. I believe it uses jQuery internally. Now when I include the jQuery file in this project and use the plugin, the plugin works fine but it is breaking the existing AJAX implementations in the project (which I assume is because I'm including the jQuery file again.) How do I resolve this conflict?

I've gathered that i need to use the plugin's addMethod() function, but how exactly to have it do what i need... Here i am! My form 's first question is a radio input choice. Each radio input, if selected, shows a sub-question of several checkboxes. What i would like my validation to do is: - make sure one radio input is selected - make sure at least one checkbox pertaining to the radio input is selected. Basically, out of the validate plugin's own logic, i would count the selector's length, and if there isn't any, return the error message. Something like this: var weekSelected = ($('input.seasonSelector:checked input.weekSelector:checked',form).length > 0); if(!weekSelected){ return 'Please select a week inside that season'; } How to turn that into a validate plugin method ?

Two parts of full repo iso files downloaded from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris11/downloads/index.html. Both files are concatenated to a single file using the following command. $ cat sol-11_1-repo-full.iso-a sol-11_1-repo-full.iso-b > sol-11_1-repo-full.iso I suggest to verify the downloaded file against its md5checksum value [http://download.oracle.com/otn/solaris/11_1/md5sum.txt] using the following command digest -a md5 <file-name>  // the output of this command should match the original checksum value for that file.2. Incremental repo sol-11_1_16_5_0-incr-repo.iso downloaded from MOS [Patch 18269379: ORACLE SOLARIS 11.1.16.5.0 REPO ISO IMAGE (SPARC/X86 (64-BIT)]. You can get the checksum value of incremental repo iso by clicking the check box "show digest details" when you download the file.3. The local system IP is 192.168.10.10 & port 81 is reserved for repo serverPlease note that this repo file (either full or incremental) is common for both SPARC and X86(64BIT).Steps to update the local system: 1. #mounting s11.1 full repo iso to mnt        $ mount -F hsfs /soft/sol-11_1-repo-full.iso /mnt 2. Setting the pkg publisher to full repo source         $ pkg set-publisher -g file:///mnt/repo solaris 3. Perform the update of the packages.        $ pkg updateII. Setting up local system (Oracle Solaris 11.1) as an IPS Repository Server(HTTP interface):Please note that we have already mounted the full repo iso at /mnt    1. # copying /mnt permanently to the disk location at /s11.1        #zfs create -o atime=off -o mountpoint=/s11.1 rpool/s11.1        #rsync -aP /mnt/* /s11.1     2. #unmounting mnt         #umount /mnt3. To allow clients to access the local repository via HTTP, enable the application/pkg/server Service Management Facility (SMF) service.        svccfg -s application/pkg/server setprop pkg/inst_root=<data_source>/repo        eg: $svccfg -s application/pkg/server setprop pkg/inst_root=/s11.1/repo4. Verify the Solaris 11.1 version from the repository         $pkgrepo list -s http://192.168.10.10:81 | grep entire         solaris   entire     0.5.11,5.11-0.175.1.0.0.24.2:20120919T190135Z You will have multiple row entries if the repository is setup with incremental SRUs.III. Updating the local repository with the incremental Solaris 11.1 SRU 16.51. #mounting s11.1 incremental SRU repo iso to mnt        $ mount -F hsfs <full_path_to>/sol-11_1_sruN_bldnum_respinnum-incr-repo.iso  /mnt        $ mount -F hsfs /soft/sol-11_1_16_5_0-incr-repo.iso /mnt2. Updating the local repository        $pkgrecv -s  /mnt/repo -d /s11.1/repo '*'3. Building a Search Index    $pkgrepo -s /s11.1/repo refresh     Initiating repository refresh.4. Refresh/Restart the service       $svcadm refresh svc:/application/pkg/server       $svcadm restart svc:/application/pkg/server5.   • Configure IPv6 on your Linux system (Ubuntu)

    After the presentation on IPv6 at the first event of the Emtel Knowledge Series and some recent discussion on social media networks with other geeks and Linux interested IT people here in Mauritius, I thought that I should give it a try (finally) and tweak my local network infrastructure. Honestly, I have been to busy with contractual project work and it never really occurred to me to set up IPv6 in my LAN. Well, the following paragraphs are going to shed some light on those aspects of modern computer and network technology. This is the first article in a series on IPv6 configuration: Configure IPv6 on your Linux system DHCPv6: Provide IPv6 information in your local network Enabling DNS for IPv6 infrastructure Accessing your web server via IPv6 Piece of advice: This is based on my findings on the internet while reading other people's helpful articles and going through a couple of man-pages on my local system. Let's embrace IPv6 The basic configuration on Linux is actually very simple as the kernel, operating system, and user-space programs support that protocol natively. If your system is ready to go for IP (aka: IPv4), then you are good to go for anything else. At least, I didn't have to install any additional packages on my system(s). We are going to assign a static IPv6 address to the system. Hence, we have to modify the definition of interfaces and check whether we have an inet6 entry specified. Open your favourite text editor and check the following entries (it should be at least similar to this): $ sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces auto eth0# IPv4 configurationiface eth0 inet static  address 192.168.1.2  network 192.168.1.0  netmask 255.255.255.0  broadcast 192.168.1.255# IPv6 configurationiface eth0 inet6 static  pre-up modprobe ipv6  address 2001:db8:bad:a55::2  netmask 64 Of course, you might have to adjust your interface device (eth0) or you might be interested to have multiple directives for additional devices (eth1, eth2, etc.). The auto instruction takes care that your device is enabled and configured during the booting phase. The use of the pre-up directive depends on your kernel configuration but in most scenarios this might be an optional line. Anyways, it doesn't hurt to have it enabled after all - just to be on the safe side. Next, either restart your network subsystem like so: $ sudo service networking restart Or you might prefer to do it manually with identical parameters, like so: $ sudo ifconfig eth0 inet6 add 2001:db8:bad:a55::2/64 In case that you're logged in remotely into your PC (ie. via ssh), it is highly advised to opt for the second choice and add the device manually. You can check your configuration afterwards with one of the following commands (depends on whether it is installed): $ sudo ifconfig eth0eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:21:5a:50:d7:94            inet addr:192.168.160.2  Bcast:192.168.160.255  Mask:255.255.255.0          inet6 addr: fe80::221:5aff:fe50:d794/64 Scope:Link          inet6 addr: 2001:db8:bad:a55::2/64 Scope:Global          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1 $ sudo ip -6 address show eth03: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qlen 1000    inet6 2001:db8:bad:a55::2/64 scope global        valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever    inet6 fe80::221:5aff:fe50:d794/64 scope link        valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever In both cases, it confirms that our network device has been assigned a valid IPv6 address. That's it in general for your setup on one system. But of course, you might be interested to enable more services for IPv6, especially if you're already running a couple of them in your IP network.   • Weird Facebooker Plugin & Pushion Passenger ModRails Production Error

    I have an application (Rails 2.3.5) that I'm deploying to production Linux/Apache server using the latest Phushion Passenger/Apache Module 2.2.11 version. After deploying my original application, it returns a 500 error with no logging to production log. So I created a minimal test rails application, with some active record calls to the database to print out a list of objects to the home controller/my index page. I also cleared out all plugins. That works fine in the production environment. Then I one by one introduced each plugin that I'm using one at a time. Every plugin works fine EXCEPT facebooker. Every time I load the facebooker plugin into my app/vendor/plugins directory (via script git etc) my test application break (500 error - no error logging). Everytime I remove the facebooker plugin my test application works. Has anyone seen this before/ have any solutions? I saw this solution but didn't see it in the facebooker code.
