• Redirect folder to different server

  I know you can redirect subdomains to a different server, but can you do the same with folders? Say I have example.com. I can redirect mysubdomain.example.com to a different server, but can I redirect example.com/mysubdomain to a different server? I'd like to host a rails app in that folder on a site that runs php while still maintaining good search engines ratings (by not creating a sub domain which in my experience in recognized as a different site). Any help? Thanks!

• Transition domain to new web host without waiting for DNS propagation

  I was considering switching to Amazon EC2 to host my website to handle more traffic. It seems like I would have to update DNS records to point to the new server but I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to wait for the new DNS record to propagate. Putting the code on both hosts would not work for me since the app writes to a database pretty frequently. I thought about just using a meta redirect or php redirect on the old host to redirect to the new host ip but was wondering if there's a better more accepted way of doing this.

  Following Post-Redirect-Get pattern as described in various spots but maybe in most detail here by Stephen Walter I want to use RedirectToAction but it does not accept a parameter for sending object to it. I can only send route values either as an object or as an RouteValueDictionary. So currently I send object ID and type and pull the object out of the datastore again in the action to which I redirected (like Results). // redirect to confirm view return RedirectToAction("ChangeSuccess", "Redirect", new { slug = tabgroup.Slug, contentType = tabgroup.ContentType }); But I would like to send an object there because I already have it in my updating controller action so I don't need to pull it out again. Is that possible somehow?

  So I'm using a basic formmail script. Within the script I'm using a redirect variable. The value of the redirect is something like,"http://www.mysite.com/NewOLS_GCUK_EN/bling.aspx?BC=GCUK&IBC=CSEE&SIBC=CSEE" When the redirect action happens however, the url appears in the browser as: http://www.mysite.com/NewOLS_GCUK_EN/bling.aspx?BC=GCUK&amp;IBC=CSEE&amp;SIBC=CSEE you can see the &'s are replaced with "& a m p ;" is there any way to fix this? • Get jQuery post redirect response

  I've written some HTML/Javascript that sits on a third-party server for security reasons. This page performs a javascript post to another page on the same site. However, instead of responding with useful data, it instead wants to perform a redirect (if you would post via a normal HTML form to this page, it would redirect your browser). How can I process this process? I basically want to be able to extract the url's query parameters that it is trying to redirect with (and then put this link into a hidden form field). Here is my basic ajax post... $.ajax({ url: '/someurl/idontcontrol', data: serialized_form_data, async: false, type: 'POST', success: function(data, textStatus) { $('#redirect_link').val(WHAT_DO_I_PUT_HERE); } }); Note that the URL I am posting to is not one that I control, so I have no power over what it returns.   Hi, Is there a way to provide fallback URL when HTTP redirect times out? What I'm trying to achieve is that when I hit the original url, I would respond with HTTP redirect (300, 307?) giving the browser new URL and the fallback URL in case the new URL times out? I was also considering doing this client side but it just does not seem to be very effective (in terms of speed, client support). What I would do is probably have a tiny 1x1px image on each server, try loading it and then check with javascript which server is up and redirect there. Any other ideas? Thanks

  Hi all: I need to redirect a user to a different page if they visit a certain set of pages in a web. There is one condition: I'm not allowed to touch the IIS. I have googled around and found a thing called the custom HttpHandler for WSS 3.0. It sounded like something that I can use to capture the URL the user enters (the most malicious way to get to a page that should really be redirected) and redirect them to another page/web. But having not have the chance to use it yet, I was wondering am I on the right track by using a Custom HttpHandler to redirect a user to a different page in Sharepoint using C#? Many thanks.

The site has paths like this that return a page: http://test.com/operating We are using url rewriting. We want requests similar to those to be redirected to ~/Default.aspx http://test.com// http://test.com/.aspx http://test.com//.aspx We would normaly use something like this in web.config: <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="Default.aspx"> <error statusCode="404" redirect="Default.aspx" /> </customErrors> The problem with this is that it won't redirect folder url like this http://test.com/*/ Thanks!

• Django, Redirecting staff from login to the admin site.

  So my site basically has 2 kinds of ways to login, one of them is for the common users, who get the regular screen that asks them for username and password, the other way its for staff. The staff login should redirect them to the admin site after logging in, but for some reason the redirect doesnt happen, it stays on the same login page. I use this condition on the login view. if user is not None and user.is_active and user.is_staff: auth.login(request,user) return HttpResponseRedirect("/admin/") The admin site its up and running in my url configuration and everything, but i dont know if this is the correct way to redirect to the admin site already on session.   My team is trying to setup an Apache reverse proxy from a customer's site into one of our web applications. http://www.example.com/app1/some-path maps to http://internal1.example.com/some-path Inside our application we use struts and have redirect = true set on certain actions in order to provide certain functionality. The 302 status messages from these re-directs cause the user to break out of the proxy resulting in an error page for the end user. HTTP/1.1 302 Found Location: http://internal.example.com/some-path/redirect Is there any way to setup the reverse proxy in apache so that the redirects work correctly? http://www.example.com/app1/some-path/redirect

  I'm trying to figure out how to "preserve" the BindingResult so it can be used in a subsequent GET via the Spring <form:errors> tag. The reason I want to do this is because of Google App Engine's SSL limitations. I have a form which is displayed via HTTP and the post is to an HTTPS URL. If I only forward rather than redirect then the user would see the https://whatever.appspot.com/my/form URL. I'm trying to avoid this. Any ideas how to approach this? • Spoof referrer to Google Analytics?

  Whenever a user visits "Page A" on my site, I immediately redirect him to "Page B" by setting window.location with Javascript. "Page A" has no Google Analytics tracking on it -- when someone is redirected from "Page A" to "Page B" I want to track him as if he entered the site via "Page B". Unfortunately, my current setup breaks referrer information since people who are redirected to "Page B" appear to Google Analytics as if they came from "Page A": After users are redirected to "Page B", I want to tell Google Analytics their "real" referrer (i.e., the referrer to "Page A"). How can I do this? (Note: I realize that using a real HTTP redirect instead of a Javascript-based redirect would solve this problem. Unfortunately this isn't an option)

  I want to build a way to automatically redirect users to Timeout.aspx when their session expires due to inactivity. My application uses forms authentication and relies heavily on update panels within the same aspx page for user interaction, so I don't want to simply redirect after a page-level timer expires. For the same reason, I can't use '<meta http-equiv="refresh"/>' What I want to do is create a simple ajax web service with a method called IsSessionTimedOut(), that simply returns a boolean. I will use a javascript timer to periodically call the method, and if it returns true, then redirect to Timeout.aspx. However, I don't want calling this method to reset the session timeout timer, or the session would never time out because of the service call. Is there a clean way to avoid this catch-22? Hopefully there is an easy solution that has so far eluded me.

So say if I put the parameter: http://example.com/uncategorized/ It redirect me to : http://example.com/mature/ The problem is with curl, I dont get any content.. But my aim is to get the content of that page redirect.. Is there an easy way to get the function to work in the way I want..?

  I moved my images directory to a different folder, and now I want to redirect all images requests from that folder to the new one. I do not have access to the main configuraion file, so I'm doing this in a .htaccess. I tried this, and it works:     RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} old_dir/.+.(jpg|png|gif)$     RewriteRule old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$ $1 [L,PT] But since they have permanently moved, I want to do a proper redirect, so I added the [R] flag, like this:      %{REQUEST_URI} old_dir/.+.(jpg|png|gif)$     RewriteRule old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$ $1 [L,PT,R] But the server gets confused, and returns a 400, so I looked at the log file, and this is what happens:     strip per-dir prefix: C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/old_dir/images/banner.jpg - old_dir/images/banner.jpg     applying pattern 'old_dir/(.+[^/]+..+)$' to uri 'old_dir/images/banner.jpg'     rewrite 'old_dir/images/banner.jpg' - 'images/banner.jpg'     add per-dir prefix: images/banner.jpg - C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/images/banner.jpg     explicitly forcing redirect with http://localhost/C:/wamp/www/natrazyle/images/banner.jpg As you can see, the full local path gets added after localhost I know I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure it out myself. • How do I redirect the kernel console output on Ubuntu 10.04

  When I reboot my Ubuntu 10.04 nodes, I'd like to be able to see the kernel boot messages when connecting to the IPMI interfaces using Serial Over LAN mode (ttyS0). What do I need to do to be able to redirect these messages to ttyS0? Ideally, I'd like them to also still appear in the usual place (tty0, I think) for when I plug a monitor directly into the box.

  Hello: I am hosting a website with GoDaddy's "Deluxe Linux" package. Of late, I noticed my website is loading nearly 10x slower. As I begin to debug, I noticed the following redirect occurring however nothing in my script would be causing it. It hits the URL, www.domain.com, then a 302 fires to www.domain.com/39dnda, then another 302 back to www.doamin.com ??? The first 302 is random each time...
