• SQL Server 2000, yes 2000 password hash

  I need to store a password has in a SQL server 2000 database. The information isn't critical but I really don't want to store the password in clear text. How can I get a unique hash (sha, sha1, md5, etc) in SQL server 2000 as HashBytes isn't available. I'm not looking for compiled DLL or the ilk, I dont have access to the server, needs to be pure MS SQL.

Actually ASP.NET MVC generates this syntax for its urls: /Controller/Action/Id Last week I was trying to encrypt it using SHA-1 Encryption, but this encrypter generates some special symbols like + (plus), / (slash), and other annoying chars which difficult the decryption. Perhaps creating a custom encryption should solve the problem. But I wanna here from you guys, do you have some ideas to protect mvc urls?

  Hi all, Is it possible to create a certificate template that uses SHA-2 (sha256, sha224, sha384, sha512), from a Windows server 2003 CA? I know how to do it in Windows server 2008 based CA, with the new version (version 3) - it is possible to specify the hash algorithm (Under the "Cryptography" tab of the template properties). But is it possible in 2003 based CA? Thanks.

  This is sort of a follow-up to this question. If there are multiple blobs with the same contents, they are only stored once in the git repository because their SHA-1's will be identical. How would one go about finding all duplicate files for a given tree? Would you have to walk the tree and look for duplicate hashes, or does git provide backlinks from each blob to all files in a tree that reference it?

  I just spent some time reading http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2768248/is-md5-really-that-bad (I highly recommend!). In it, it talks about hash collisions. Maybe I'm missing something here, but can't you just encrypt your password using, say, MD5 and then, say, SHA-1 (or any other, doesn't matter.) Wouldn't this increase the processing power required to brute-force the hash and reduce the possibility of collision?

• Spring boot JAR as windows service

  I am trying to wrap a spring boot "uber JAR" with procrun. Running the following works as expected: java -jar my.jar I need my spring boot jar to automatically start on windows boot. The nicest solution for this would be to run the jar as a service (same as a standalone tomcat). When I try to run this I am getting "Commons Daemon procrun failed with exit value: 3" Looking at the spring-boot source it looks as if it uses a custom classloader: https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-boot/blob/master/spring-boot-tools/spring-boot-loader/src/main/java/org/springframework/boot/loader/JarLauncher.java I also get a "ClassNotFoundException" when trying to run my main method directly. java -cp my.jar my.MainClass Is there a method I can use to run my main method in a spring boot jar (not via JarLauncher)? Has anyone successfully integrated spring-boot with procrun? I am aware of http://wrapper.tanukisoftware.com/. However due to their licence I can't use it. • Encryption is hard: AES encryption to Hex

  So, I've got an app at work that encrypts a string using ColdFusion. ColdFusion's bulit-in encryption helpers make it pretty simple: encrypt('string_to_encrypt','key','AES','HEX') What I'm trying to do is use Ruby to create the same encrypted string as this ColdFusion script is creating. Unfortunately encryption is the most confusing computer science subject known to man. I found a couple helper methods that use the openssl library and give you a really simple encryption/decryption method. Here's the resulting string: "\370\354D\020\357A\227\377\261G\333\314\204\361\277\250" Which looks unicode-ish to me. I've tried several libraries to convert this to hex but they all say it contains invalid characters. Trying to unpack it results in this: string = "\370\354D\020\357A\227\377\261G\333\314\204\361\277\250" string.unpack('U') ArgumentError: malformed UTF-8 character from (irb):19:in `unpack' from (irb):19 At the end of the day it's supposed to look like this (the output of the ColdFusion encrypt method): F8E91A689565ED24541D2A0109F201EF Of course that's assuming that all the padding, initialization vectors, salts, cypher types and a million other possible differences all line up. Here's the simple script I'm using to encrypt/decrypt: def aes(m,k,t) (aes = OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher.new('aes-256-cbc').send(m)).key = Digest::SHA256.digest(k) aes.update(t) << aes.final end def encrypt(key, text) aes(:encrypt, key, text) end def decrypt(key, text) aes(:decrypt, key, text) end Any help? Maybe just a simple option I can pass to OpenSSL::Cipher::Cipher that will tell it to hex-encode the final string?

• Android NDK Gaussian Blur radius stuck at 60

  I implemented this NDK imeplementation of a Gaussian Blur, But I am having problems. I cannot increase the radius above 60, otherwise the activity just closes returning to a previous activity. No error message, nothing? Does anyone know why this could be?   Is there any way to include MySQL expressions like NOW() in the current build of ZF2 (2.0.0beta4) through Zend\Db and/or TableGateway insert()/update() statements?   This concerns iPhoneOS-sdk-3.2 I am having difficulty changing the border color of a grouped UITableView. I can change the cell background color, separator color, text color, quite easily now, and the rounded corners clip correctly, even when highlighted with whatever colors I have chosen. However the surrounding border remains infuriatingly gray despite many different attempts. I have read all of the related posts I can find via Google, let alone stackoverflow. I have tried both a programmatic and xib-based solution and both provide the same results.   I am trying to add a new record to a Visual FoxPro data table using an ADO dataset with no luck. The code runs fine with no exceptions but when I check the dbf after the fact there is no new record. The mDataPath variable shown in the code snippet is the path to the .dbc file for the entire database. A note about the For loop at the bottom; I am adding the body of incoming emails to this MEMO field so thought I needed to break the addition of this string into 256 character Chunks.
